Jungle Building Blocks £3.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 April, 2013 at 11:00 am

Jungle Building Blocks £3.99 @ AmazonIf you want something on a bigger scale than the wooden shape sorter I told you about earlier on, at 9am, then these Jungle building blocks could be just the thing you're looking for.

Ten blocks of various sizes, and with various patterns on, make up this Jungle building blocks set.  Each face features different pattern, image, colour or number, the educational scope of these blocks is quite extensive - let alone the simple task of seeing just how high you can stack them!

They have some good reviews too:

Great blocks for little hands to stack and wear on ones head (as my little boy insists on wearing the number 10 block as a hat.)

Bought for a 14 month old baby, he loved them great toy, with fun pictures. Good for building skills, spacial awareness and language.

I umm'd and ahh'd about telling you about these blocks actually, as you also need to pay £3.66 or delivery - there's no free SuperSaver option available, but stacking blocks are just too good to pass on.

Carousel Stacking 3D Puzzle Wooden Toy £3.40 @ Tesco Direct

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 23 December, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Carousel Stacking 3D Puzzle Wooden Toy £3.40 @ Tesco Direct

Tesco Direct are selling a Carousel Stacking 3D Puzzle Toy for £3.40 instead of, apparently, £6.00. You will have to drop in to your local shop to see if they have it in stock, because I don't think even click and collect will help you much for Christmas anymore, but if you wanted it for another time later in the year, then I'm sure that will be fine! While you are there, you might as well see what else they have, since it's never too early to stock up on savings!

I vaguely recall a book we used to make and cut into three parts when I was a child. As you flipped over various parts of the pages, you'd find hysterically funny matches, like a fireman's hat and head wearing a tutu and rugby boots. This is a similar concept, except it's made of wood, and there are four variations on head, body and legs and feet.

Aimed at boys and girls of 1 - 2 years old, this toy is very entertaining if a review is to be believed.

Fisher Price Stack And Nest Pots And Pans £5.49 @ Sainsbury's

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 6 November, 2012 at 9:00 am

Fisher Price Stack And Nest Pots And Pans £5.49 @ Sainsbury'sSainsbury's are selling these Fisher Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans sets for £5.49, instead of their usual £10.99 full price.

I've written about these Fisher Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans before - I liked the look of them then and I still like the look of them now.

You know, stacking toys are just awesome for babies and small kids - I've yet to come across one child who doesn't enjoy stacking and sorting out toys which require it.  Not only is their a sense of accomplishment when everything is stacked and ordered, but they are developing their fine motor, assessing and problem solving skills too.

The Fisher-Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans can, you won't be surprised to hear, be stacked one on top of the other or nested together so there's lots to do and explore with them.

The the largest pot has colourful carrots and rattling peas inside that will make noise when your little one shakes it. They will be able to see their own reflection in the frying pan and the little pot has a roller ball in the bottom which has a jingle bell inside.

Standard delivery to your home will cost an additional £3.95, or you can pop into your nearest Sainsbury's and collect your Fisher Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans for free.

Stack And Drop Froggie £7.50 @ ELC

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 November, 2012 at 10:00 am

Stack And Drop Froggie £7.50 @ ELCThe Early Learning Centre are selling this rather fabulous looking Stack and Drop Froggie stacking toy for half price - £7.50 instead of £14.99.

Oh I do love stacking toys!  They are just so simple and such a lot of fun to play with; I've yet to come across a child who doesn't enjoy playing with stacking toys - I STILL love stacking toys that require stacking, and I'm almost 40!

I think this Stack and Drop Froggie is CUTE - his wide open mouth just makes me laugh and his googly eyes are just adorable.  The purpose of Stack and Drop Froggie, as I'm sure you'll have been able to work out for yourself, is: stack his various parts in the correct order, then drop in the balls and watch them fall through each one.

In the spec' it says three AA batteries are required (I can't see whether or not they're included) these are for the ball - they make sounds and have flashing lights.

Standard home delivery within mainland UK, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man is free - sorry, if you live somewhere other than those places - and will take up to four working days to arrive.

26 Wooden Play And Learn Blocks £3 @ Asda

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 24 May, 2012 at 9:00 am

26 Wooden Play And Learn Blocks £3 @ AsdaIf you're on the lookout for simple wooden learning toys, then you'll want to take a look at these 26 wooden play and learn blocks that Asda have up for grabs for £3.

I'm a huge wooden toy fan; I also love toys that have educational and skill development value, so these 26 wooden play and learn blocks really do appeal to me, and if I had a child young enough to get value from them they'd already be in my basket.

They are made from 100% ethically sourced wood  that has FSC approval and each block features two letters of the alphabet and four pictures, which are carved into the wood, of things beginning with the corresponding letters - you just know there's going to be a cat accompanying the letter C!

You can teach letters, shapes, names of objects, colours (as the letters and block edges are colour coordinated) and your child will also be able to develop their basic spelling and word recognition through ordering their blocks to form simple words.  Fine motor skills can also be developed through stacking the blocks too.

I think these are truly fabulous and a bargain for just £3 - you can collect your 26 wooden play and learn blocks for free from the Asda store of your choice, or you can pay an additional £2.95 and have them delivered to your front door.

Happy playing and learning

Fisher-Price Stack And Nest Pots And Pans £5 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 February, 2012 at 11:00 am

Fisher-Price Stack And Nest Pots And Pans £5 @ TescoTesco Direct are selling these Fisher-Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans for £5, rather than their full price of £9.97.

If you've been reading my PlayPennies posts for a while you'll know I'm not a huge fan of plastic toys, but for most Fisher-Price ones I can usually make an exception because they're rather good.

I think these Fisher-Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans are super cute and if I know babies, which I do, then they're going to have super fun playing with them.

The the largest pot has colourful carrots and rattling peas inside that will make noise when your little one shakes it. They will be able to see their own reflection in the frying pan and the little pot has a roller ball in the bottom which has a jingle bell inside (don't panic at the utterance of 'jingle bell', I haven't started on posts for Christmas just yet, maybe in March *grin*)

The Fisher-Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans can, you won't be surprised to hear, be stacked one on top of the other or nested together so there's lots to do and explore with them that will bring on and develop your baby's fine motor skills, along with teaching cause and effect; marvellous, good ol' Fisher-Price.

You can collect your Fisher-Price Stack and Nest Pots and Pans in-store for free, or pay £5 delivery - if delivery really is your only option then save yourself a couple of pounds, go and buy them from Amazon for £7.99 and choose the free SuperSaver delivery option instead.

Mega Bloks Build N Discover Stacker £5.49 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 July, 2011 at 10:00 am

Mega Bloks Build N Discover Stacker £5.49 @ PlayPlay are currently selling this Mega Bloks Build n Discover stacker toy for £5.49 instead of £9.99.

I think little toys like this are great for young babies and toddlers who are just getting to grips with the world around them.

I love that the Mega Bloks Build n Discover stacker is simple; simple with lots of learning opportunities too.

The principle is a very basic - stack the blocks in order and make a wobbly tower that rocks side-to-side.

There are five shapes for sorting and stacking and a rattle block too, well you have to some noise in there somewhere!

Each block is numbered so you can teach your child early number recognition; they're brightly coloured so you can teach colours too and each block is a different shape, so you can teach shapes as well.

There are also six extra Maxi blocks in the rocking storage buckets for hours of building play, just for fun when you're little one (aged one or over) is all 'learned out' and just wants to build towers so they can knock them down.

Chicco Magic Blocks Container Cube £20 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 February, 2011 at 9:00 am

Chicco Magic Blocks Container Cube £20 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this Chicco Magic Blocks Container Cube for half-price (£20) - it's full price is £39.99

I've never seen this Chicco Magic Blocks Container Cube before; without being able to guage its size it's tricky to say whether or not I'd pay the full price for it, probably not to be honest, but for £20 it doesn't look too bad.

This is a toy for real littlies - nine months and over little people in fact.

At this age everything's exciting but generally they can't go anywhere, unless you've got an early crawler, so stacking toys that topple over aren't always the best as the 'bits' can fall out of reach.

This Chicco Magic Blocks Container Cube has dual function blocks - the red connector is magnetic so they'll jump together and stay put when close to each other, and the yellow connector is a traditional 'push it together' yourself one, if you get my drift.

The container is a character in his own right, has a cheery, friendly face on the front and can be pulled along when your child is mobile and discovers the joys of pull-along toys.

The Chicco Magic Blocks Container Cube comes with four character blocks and 10 decorated ones, giving you 14 in total.

Amazon are currently selling the blocks for the Chicco Magic Blocks Container Cube at half-price too.

Lamaze Balancing Bug Stacker £6.40 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 25 September, 2010 at 11:00 am

Lamaze Balancing Bug Stacker £6.40 @ AmazonI'm not sure who enjoyed playing with stacking toys most, me or the kids!

I wonder how many hours of my life I've spent playing with stacking cups and balancing toys like this Lamaze Balancing Bug stacker?

It's amazing how much fun can be had by seeing how many things you can tower one on top of the other before they fall over. No batteries, no flashing lights just good hand-eye coordination and fits of giggles when everything comes crashing down.

I really like these Balancing Bugs from Lamaze - true to form, they're brightly coloured so making them attractive to tiny people and will stimulate their senses, but they have a little 'more' too.

Each bug has a unique rattle so when they come tumbling down there'll be a cacophony of 'noise' - this is the reward for piling them high so the desire to stack again is increased and the more it's done, the more hand-eye coordination and motor skills are developed.

Lamaze Balancing Bug Stacker £6.40 @ AmazonTo help this along a little, each bug has a magnet inside so the stacking-and-staying power is increased which helps prevent your little one getting frustrated and bored when they get started and are getting the hang of it all.

Amazon have reduced these little beauties from £9.99 down to £6.40 and, according to the many happy reviews I've read, they're worth every penny and then some!

Free delivery as always with the SuperSaver deal - lovely.

Bob The Builder: Bob Wooden Stack 'N' Turn £2.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 July, 2010 at 9:00 am

Bob The Builder: Bob Wooden Stack 'N' Turn £2.99 @ PlayBob the Builder - CAN. YOU. FIX. HIM?

Actually, CAN. YOU. STACK. HIM? would be more appropriate as this is a cute little stacking toy that little kids will love.

My mum bought my teenage daughter a set of Russian dolls once, do you remember those? Each hollow wooden doll opens in half across the middle and they all stack inside each other - it kept her amused for HOURS!

Sometimes we forget that the simplest of toys can provide just as much entertainment as the all-singing, all-dancing, light-flashing, bell-ringing, battery-munching ones. This Bob the Builder 'Bob wooden stack 'n' turn' toy is certainly simple and Play have reduced him down from the £9.99 rrp to just £2.99, so he has a nice simple price too.

Bob The Builder: Bob Wooden Stack 'N' Turn £2.99 @ PlayHe's made up of five pieces that little fingers can get to grips with and stack on the wooden spindle to make a complete Bob the Builder - or 'Bobber' as my youngest used to call him, that was too cute when couldn't say Bob the Builder.

Bob's head screws on to the top which secures all the pieces together when he's not being played with; such a simple thing that's a genius idea!
