Celebaby: Another Boy For Stacey Solomon

Celebaby: Another Boy For Stacey SolomonWe wait for ages for some celebrity babies to put in an appearance and then three of them turn up in one month - Jessica Simpson's daughter, Maxwell (still can't believe she's been named that!), and Jack Osbourne's daughter, Pearl.  Now we have Stacey Solomon's new son to add to the list too.

He arrived on 5 May and his arrival in the world was announced on Twitter by...Max Clifford!  He's Stacey's representative and there's just something about that man that makes me want to run at a hundred million miles in the opposite direction of him - I maybe doing him a disservice but the words 'liar' and 'scumbag' always spring to mind.

Anyway, back to the baby news.  Stacey is already mum to four-year-old Zachary and has named her new son, Leighton.

What do we think of that?  At least it's a boys name and has been given to a BOY (Jessica Simpson!) but I have a rather horrible feeling it's going to get shortened to 'lay' which, in my opinion, just sounds naff.

Back in March Stacey was caught smoking cigarettes 'out the back' which triggered a whole lot of controversy in the media but it would seem, at least from the outside and in the immediate term, that Leighton is non the worse for being subjected to cigarette smoke.

It still makes me cross to think about it, it's just irresponsible and selfish and whilst it's all blown over as quickly as her cigarette smoke blew away, I sincerely hope there won't be any repercussions arising from it that surface later on.

All of that said, I'm thrilled for the family and wish nothing but a happy future for them all.

Celebaby: Stacey Solomon Didn't Get The No Smoking When Preggars Memo

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 6 March, 2012 at 10:00 am

Celebaby: Stacey Solomon Didn't Get The No Smoking When Preggars MemoI'm (usually) a tolerant person; each to their own with most things but there are few things that really make me blood boil as much as seeing a pregnant woman smoking!

I'm going to do my best not to start ranting, but I'm making no promises...

Smoking when pregnant is BAD, there's no arguing on that point yet some women still do it.  Yes, I know people will argue that the stress of not smoking is far worse than puffing on a few fags a day;  sorry, that's a terrible excuse and I have to ask - if that person's baby was on the outside would they give it a cigarette to smoke, or blow smoke in their face?  Surely, if it's okay on the inside then it'll be okay on the outside, right?

I didn't think so, and if there are people who would blow smoke in babies faces...no, let's not go there.

Stacey Solomon - who  has massively gone down in my 'celebs I quite like' rating now - has been papped this week smoking cigarettes at seven months pregnant.

Her publicist, the 'lovely' Max Clifford (says it all!), has told the Daily Mail, "Stacey has been smoking one or two cigarettes a day but she is desperately trying to quit and she is very embarrassed about it all. She's going to be trying electronic cigarettes and she knows it's bad but the stress of having a baby and all her work commitments have been difficult."

Stacey has told The People newspaper, "I know it doesn't look good but I only have a few cigs a day."

Frozen food store, Iceland, (Stacey is their current 'face') have said that she hasn't let her fans down - well, whilst I wouldn't go as far as calling myself a fan, I will say I feel let down!

Stacey is a young mum and other young mums who look up to her may well just follow suit, 'If Stacey's doctor says it was okay for her to smoke because the stress of giving up would be far worse, then it's okay for me!'

Sorry, as far as I'm concerned smoking whilst pregnant is irresponsible and selfish; if you're preggars and stressed go and do something relaxing (manicure or something else that will keep your hands busy) but don't nip out and blow smoke into your unborn baby's lungs; discuss!

Celebaby: Bumps Don't Always Equal Frumps!

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 11 February, 2012 at 10:00 am

Celebaby: Bumps Don't Always Equal Frumps!Stacey Solomon and Una Healy now have some rather obvious baby bumps to show off and they've been doing it in style, without looking over the top or like they're trying too hard to be trendy and preggy.

Amanda Holden has gone back to work and Victoria Beckham is still hauling poor little Harper around the globe.

Stacey And Una

When I was pregnant with my older two, the preggars dress code was baggy t-shirt and leggings - comfy but NOT at all attractive and did absolutely nothing to make you feel like a beautiful mum-to-be.

Have a look at Una's dress - HOW does she get away with not looking frumpy in it?!  It's so unfair - if I wore that NOW, even, I'd look like terrible in it and how awesome does Stacey look in that dress?

In one of my off-line lives I'm a photographer; I know that almost every single image we see in print have been subjected to Photoshop trickery of varying degrees and, until this very instant, it's never occurred to me that the same probably applies/has applied to pictures of expectant celeb' mums!

Nothing more than the most hectic application of 'shop would have made me look better in my preggy pictures, but I'm not feeling so bad now.

Amanda And Victoria

Amanda Holden has gone back to work as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, briefly, and left her new daughter Hollie in the capable hands of her Grandmother (Hollie's Grandmother, not Amanda's!).

She says, "I am euphoric to be heading back to my place at the judges desk - to be honest after the last couple of weeks I'm euphoric to be anywhere!  This is just a very fleeting visit to Scotland and with the weather being so extreme I've decided to let my mum have some quality time with her new granddaughter - but I am looking forward to introducing Hollie to everyone on my next trip."

Extreme weather?  It's -12C in my only 80-miles-north-of-London part of the world, I'm not surprised she's left little Hollie safely tucked up warm and cosy at home.

Of course, if Amanda was Victoria Beckham then it would be parade-the-baby-around business as usual, evidenced at JFK airport in freezing temperatures earlier this week!

Whilst Harper had a coat on, VB was in short sleeves! I flew back into the UK from Johannesburg last Saturday, was wearing jeans, long boots, a couple of jumpers and I was FROZEN.

I know Victoria's, now famously, said, "The airport is my runway," (oh please!) but short sleeves and a little skirt in the middle of winter?  MADNESS; perhaps she hasn't got round to designing a winter range for her clothes label yet *smirk*

Celebaby: A Sparkler For Stacy Solomon And Pressure For Ang' To Have One Too

Celebaby: A Sparkler For Stacy Solomon And Pressure For Ang' To Have One TooStacey Solomon

My daughter can't stand Stacey Solomon, but I think she's lovely; yes my not-so-inner snob could wince at her amazing Essexness but she's a fighter and overcome a lot in her 22 years on the planet - THAT'S why I like her.

Always smiling, well most of the time anyway, Stacey's just returned home from New York with her NOW fiancee who popped the question whilst they were away.  I wonder if he'll make an honest woman of her before their new baby arrives next year, or whether they'll wait until after?

Either way, I hope the fairytale doesn't stop for Stacey, gawd luv 'er!

Angelina Pitt...?

A sparkly engagement ring on her ring finger or the name Angelina Pitt aren't two things we're going to see any time soon; Angelina has been speaking about marriage during interviews to promote her new film and said that her and Brad don't have any plans to get married.

During a TV interview she admitted that the most pressure is coming from the kids...

"The kids asked me the other day and I asked them if it was just because they wanted to have a big cake. They see movies that have the people getting married in the movies or somebody's, you know, the happily ever after. Shrek and Fiona are married.

We’ve explained to them that our commitment when we decided to start a family was the greatest commitment you could possibly have. Once you have six children, you’re committed."

I should say!  Six kids, my brain won't go anywhere near trying to imagine that; three's enough!

Celebaby: Two New Bumps

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 29 October, 2011 at 10:00 am

Celebaby: Two New Bumps Two existing celeb' mums have announced they're expecting their second babies this week and two celeb' dads have been left holding the babies, although only temporarily of course.

Stacey Solomon

I admit that the X-Factor is the sort of TV programme that I avoid like the plague, but if I happen to catch it on a Sunday afternoon it doesn't take much to get me hooked - it's a bit of a guilty pleasure if I remember it's on.

I will also admit to completely loving Stacey Solomon, I thought she was great and I don't begrudge her a single penny she makes from here-on-in off the back of her X-Factor time (even those naff Iceland adverts!).
