Mickey Mouse Soft Toy (24 Inches) £14.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 May, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Mickey Mouse Soft Toy (24 Inches) £14.99 @ ArgosArgos are selling this rather large Mickey Mouse soft toy for £14.99, his usual price is £39.99.

Of all the Disney characters, Mickey Mouse was never one of my favourites - he always seemed a bit goody-two-shoes to me. Now, Pluto and Donald Duck! Well they got up to all sorts of mischief and were much more fun.

However, I wouldn't have been upset if someone bought me one of these large Mickey Mouse soft toys! He looks very cuddly and has some great reviews:

"He's a top quality plush toy. My 3 year old loves it. Bought in the sale for a bargain price"

"My one-year-old grandson loves Mickey Mouse and this plush toy is excellent for him.  He's lightweight and easily sponged down as he does get grubby - but then he's dragged all over the place, night and day.  MM goes everywhere with him. He's a great toy for any kid that likes MM"

If your local Argos store(s) have this 24 inch Mickey in stock, you can pop along and collect him for free. If they don't, and you don't want to travel further afield, then you can pay Argos an additional £2.95 and have Argos deliver him to you.

AniMagic Snuggle And Snooze Dolly The Pony £6.97 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 March, 2013 at 11:00 am

AniMagic Snuggle And Snooze Dolly The Pony £6.97 @ ArgosSo here we have another Pillow Pets, Snuggz, Chubby Pillow Heads, Cutesy Pals incarnation in the form of this AniMagic Snuggle and Snooze Dolly the Pony, and she's all yours for £6.97 instead of £19.99 if you head over to Argos right now.

You'd think there'd be some sort of patent on a soft cuddly toy that unfolds to become a large flat cushion, or can stay folded up to be a snuggly pal who doubles up as a pillow.  There are now so many of this sort of cuddly thing that I've lost track of which one can be considered the 'original'.

What I do know about things like this Snuggle and Snooze Dolly the Pony, is kids ADORE them! My little niece has a ladybird PillowPet who she will not be parted from. I see kids in cars, and on trains and planes cuddled up with their versions of her.

They are rather awesome and I've yet to read a bad review about any of them. Dolly has some lovely reviews:

Fantastic bargain-great present...been buying for birthday parties coz every wee girl loves cuddling-always been in stock when wanted-would definitely recommend!!!!!

I bought this for my 5year old niece and its really good, fluffy and comfy. Definitely would recommend especially on offer.

Snuggle and Snooze Dolly the Pony is available to collect in-store for free, if your local Argos has stock (use www.icheckstock.co.uk to help you track her down, if they don't) OR, you can pay a few extra pounds and have Argos deliver her to you.

Annoying Orange Review

Annoying Orange Review

If you've come across The Annoying Orange cartoon, the spin-off range of toys based on the main characters won't need much introduction. If the whole thing is completely new to you, on the other hand, suffice to say the name Annoying Orange is an appropriate one.

The whole concept is based around a variety of fruit-based characters who sit around on the kitchen counter basically just irritating each other all day long by making stupid comments and annoying remarks.

Snugzz Penguin Pillow Friend £4.99 @ Home Bargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 December, 2012 at 10:00 am

Snugzz Penguin Pillow Friend £4.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains are selling this Snugzz Penguin Pillow Friend for £4.99 rather than £13.99.

There are various brand incarnations of these cuddly pets that open out into snuggly pillows - I can't see any differences between any of them, other than their names and prices.

I'd written about some of them way, way back but had never actually seen one 'in the real' until I was sent one to review - you can read the review HERE, if you'd like to get a detailed low-down.

I enlisted the help of my five-year-old niece and to say she fell in love with her Pillow Pet version of the Snugzz Pillow Friend would be the understatement of the year!  She was, and still is, utterly inseparable from it.

Essentially, you have a big (and they are big - not where they look big online, then they arrive only for you to discover they're at least half the size you thought they were!) soft and cuddly pet friend who fastens up underneath with a little velcro strap - perfect for cuddling - open them out and they become a lovely pillow or cushion to sit or lounge on.

My niece also uses hers, when it's folded up, as a pyjama case.  If you're after a super-cute and cuddly stocking filler that's rather substantial and looks like it cost far more than it did, then you won't go wrong with one of these.

You can arrange to collect your Snugzz Penguin Pillow Friend, at no extra cost, from your local Home Bargains store; if you don't have one close to you then home delivery will cost you up to £2.99, depending on how Home Bargains classify the size of your parcel - if it's a small parcel then it'll only cost you an additional 99 pence!

Happy snugzzing!

Unicorn Pillow Pal £4.99 @ Home Bargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 26 September, 2012 at 11:00 am

Unicorn Pillow Pal £4.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains are selling this Unicorn Pillow Pal for just £4.99, it's normal full price is £14.99.

I reviewed a Ladybird version of this very cute Unicorn Pillow Pal back in May, or rather my five-year-old niece reviewed it for me; before then I'd written about the Pillow Pals but wasn't overly convinced - they didn't do anything other than look cute and fluffy, roll up like a pillow or lay out flat like a...well, like a flat pillow.

I was amazed when I watched my niece fall instantly love with the Ladybird Pillow Pal and become utterly inseparable from it; that Pillow Pal came everywhere with us for the next three days (she was staying with us for a few days with her mum).

You can't tell from the pictures just how big these Pillow Pals are, and OHHH my goodness they are so soft and cuddly you really do just want to stroke and snuggle into them all day long.

When laid out flat your Unicorn Pillow Pal is a large comfy cushion or can be wrapped around your body to cuddle like a half blanket.  Fold him/her in half, do up the velcro strap underneath the belly and it becomes a pillow - perfect for young heads to rest on during long car journeys - you can also fold your pyjamas up inside and use it as a pyjama case too.

My niece still loves 'Lily Ladybird', although she has stopped feeling bereft because she can't take her to school!

If you live locally to a Home Bargains store then you'll be able to pop in and collect your Unicorn Pillow Pal for free, otherwise home delivery will cost you between 99 pence and £2.95 extra.

Happy Pillow Pal cuddling!

Cuddly Brown Teddy Bear £12.64 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 September, 2012 at 9:00 am

Cuddly Brown Teddy Bear £12.64 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this rather scrummy cuddly brown teddy bear for £12.64 instead of his full £19.99 price.

I have a real soft spot for teddy bears; when I was a little girl I wasn't interested in playing with dolls, but cuddling teddy bears?  Absolutely!

My youngest son is called Edward and from almost the moment he was born he's been known as Bear.  He has a little brown teddy, called Little Brown Teddy; Little Brown Teddy's looking a little worn out now and could do with a new brown teddy to join the fold to take over some of the cuddling duties - he's not retiring, he just needs someone else to help share the load.

I think this cuddly brown teddy bear will do just the job - he's 21 inches tall, has a red checked ribbon tied round his neck and is, even for me at almost 40, utterly irresistible.

You can have your cuddly brown teddy bear delivered for free if you choose the Amazon SuperSaver delivery option or if you can't wait, or need him very quickly, then you can pay a little more and he'll be with you quick smart.

Plush 'Walking' Cars 2 Lightning McQueen £7.41 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 August, 2012 at 10:00 am

Plush 'Walking' Cars 2 Lightning McQueen £7.41 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this very cute looking walking plush Cars 2 Lightning McQueen for £7.41 instead of £24.99.

I have a confession to make...I haven't seen Cars or Cars 2!  I only recognise a couple of the names because I've written deals about them here, but the Cars franchise first hit the big screens a little late for my older children to want to go and see it, and my youngest wasn't born then.

However, I don't need to have seen the Cars movies to know that this plush 'walking' Cars 2 Lightning McQueen toy looks rather fun!

He's suitable for little ones aged two years and older and he comes with a magnetic key to 'start' his engine - he 'walks' on his wheels and says character phrases, along with making engine and racing car sounds.

The three AA batteries required to allow all of this 'action' to happen are included (hurrah!) and the reviews I've read, so far, are good...

"The car is great, colour & sound even better!  Maybe there should have been an volume bottom on it cos the sound of the starting engine is well on the loud side.

When my boy unpacked his new pressie I could see the smile on his face and it got even bigger when Lightning Mcqueen started talking. HE LOVES IT!!"

Minnie Or Mickey Mouse 17in Soft Toy £11.99 Each @ Toys R Us

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 22 July, 2012 at 11:00 am

Minnie Or Mickey Mouse 17in Soft Toy £11.99 Each @ Toys R UsToys R Us has reduced the price on the Minnie and Mickey Mouse 17in soft toys by £10, down from £24.99 to £14.99 each. You can take that down further if you're buying this weekend using the 20% off code we wrote about HERE. That would make the price £11.99. The discount is also a printable voucher if you want to collect the toy from instore.

Standard delivery on the site is £4.95, although if you're combing with other items, then delivery is free if you spend more than £50.

These large Mickey and Minnie Mouse 17" Soft Toys are perfect for cuddles! Fans of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (which is on the Disney Channel if you have cable or satellite TV) will love this brightly coloured soft toy companion.

They're sold separately and if you want the Minnie Mouse toy, you'll need to click HERE.

Now, Minnie is all in pink. I'm sure that my childhood memory of Minnie has her in red. Is this a change to cater to the 'pinkification' of the female gender? Not too happy if that's the case. In my memory Minnie had a red skirt with big, white polka dots. I think that's still the 'traditional' Minnie Mouse outfit, but a quick google shows that she wears a lot of outfits these days including a ball gown and tiara!

Moomin Mamma Soft Toy £4.60 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 11 June, 2012 at 11:00 am

Moomin Mamma Soft Toy £4.60 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this rather delightful Moomin Mamma soft toy for £4.60, she's usually £6.99.

I'm in Moomin mode; a couple of months back I told you about the 'Moomin holding a pretty yellow daffodil' soft toy, the other day I told you about the Moomin Troll soft toy and now you can really start building your Moonin family by adding Moomin Mamma to your collection.

I can only conclude from this sudden re-emergence of Moomins (at least it feels sudden to me, I'm a bit out of touch with kids' TV these days) that they're back in favour!

They are still strange and weird and look like hippos to me, and I'm sure they're still as compelling and hypnotic to watch as they always were.

Moomin Mamma is six and a half inches tall, she's all lovely and soft and plush, is carrying her handbag and wearing her trademark red and white striped apron.

There's no age recommendation for Moomim Mamma, but her eyes are embroidered and she doesn't have any small parts - if you're thinking about buying her for a newborn then give her plushness a good check over and use your judgement and common sense as to whether or not she's suitable; she can always sit on the bookshelf for a few months until she is.

Lollipop Lane Huggable Snuggable Fudge Bear £7.53 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 May, 2012 at 10:00 am

Lollipop Lane Huggable Snuggable Fudge Bear £7.53 @ AmazonIf you have a soft spot for SUPER cute teddies then you'll definitely want to go and take a look at Huggable Snuggable Fudge Bear.

My youngest son's name is Edward and ever since he arrived we've called him Bear (as in Edward Bear aka Winnie the Pooh; NOT, I hasten to add, because of Bear Grylls, who's name is also Edward!).  Ever since then we've also been extra 'sensitive' to REALLY cute teddy bears and this Lollipop Lane Huggable Snuggable Fudge Bear could just be the cutest of them all to date!

Just LOOK at him, he's gorgeous beyond belief - in fact, you know, I'm seriously tempted to buy him just for me and he can sit somewhere nice in my bedroom - perhaps on the windowsill so he can look out the window at the horses in the field.

He's made from fleece and velour and has a little round, soft, fat tummy and his bottom and paws are filled with beans (I tell you, I'm falling more and more in love with him by the second here!) and his left foot paw has a name tag stitched to it that you can personalise with the name of whomever you're giving him to - it says 'I belong to...'

This most scrumptious of bears also comes in his own little presentation box and usually costs £22.99, if you're quick you'll be able to snaffle him away from Amazon for just £7.53; he's a lovely huggable snuggable deal of the day for me.

Happy hugging and snuggling

Club Penguin/Puffle 2-in-1 Soft Toy £5 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 March, 2012 at 10:00 am

Club Penguin/Puffle 2-in-1 Soft Toy £5 @ TescoMaybe it's a Spring thing - Happy First Day of Spring, by the way! - but I've spotted a couple of deals these last few days where I wrote exactly the same one, almost exactly a year ago to the day!

This Club Penguin/Puffle 2-in-1 soft toy is one of those deals - I told you about him last year on 21 March; he was £5 then, reduced down from the usual £20, and he's £5 again now.

I'm still really none the wiser when it comes to anything Club Penguin - as your kids get older you'll find you lose touch with the latest younger childhood crazes - but I do know that the popularity of it is massive and Club Penguin toys tend to go out stock FAST, especially when they're on sale.

The Penguin ca transform into a Puffle which, I now know, is a good thing and something that kids absolutely love.  if you're umming and aaahhing about this Club Penguin/Puffle 2-in-1 soft toy then perhaps reading some comments from existing owners will help you out...

"Fantastic toy....my little boy loves it, as he is so into Club Penguin! Soft, lovely bright colours and a good size. He loves the fact that you can turn the penguin into a Puffle."

"My kids thoughtly enjoy this product they take it everywhere with them even on holiday, it's so good as you can turn it into a puffle when you have finished it being as a penguin."

"This was bought for my sons birthday and he says that it was his best present. It goes everywhere with him he just loves it to bits. Its so soft and cuddly and the fact you can change it to a puffle is brilliant."

There are almost 100 comments on Reevoo about this Club Penguin soft toy, all singing its praises - they can't all be wrong!

Special Agent Oso Bear £10 @ Disney

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 12 December, 2011 at 9:00 am

Special Agent Oso Bear £10 @ DisneyIf you were in the cuddly toy market last year then you might remember all the fuss that surrounded this Special Agent Oso Bear - the world went crazy for him!  He's back this year, on sale at the Disney Store, for £10 instead of £18.

It's almost impossible to believe that more than a year has gone by since we were all sitting here in the PlayPennies office, in utter bemusement at all the brouhaha and frantic parental searching for one of these Special Agent Oso Bears.

They went out of stock as soon as they were IN stock and I saw a Special Agent Oso Bear up for sale on that well known auction site for more than three times the rrp!

None of us had any clue about Special Agent Oso Bear until Lynley wrote about him, then we discovered that all hell had broken loose in the toy world and Special Agent Oso was HOT!

After a quick bit of research, I discovered that Special Agent Oso is a blue and yellow panda (you don't see many of those!) who's a special agent and comes to the aid and rescue of kids who need him.

I could do with a Special Agent Oso Magic-Wand-Waving Bear today, I've got three days of things that I need to cram into today before 10pm!  So on that note I'm off to track down the next deal to tell you about.

My First Tool Box - Soft Plush Toy Set £6.44 @ eBay The Magic Toy Shop

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 9 November, 2011 at 9:00 am

My First Tool Box - Soft Plush Toy Set £6.44 @ eBay The Magic Toy ShopOh now this is a cute little plush My First Tool Box set for a young lad - everything is soft and brightly coloured and is just £6.44 with an additional, non-extortionate, £1.90 for delivery.

It's funny, I'm not averse to gender stereotypical toys for boys, like this My First Tool Box set, but I hate play vacuum cleaners et al for girls!  If my youngest was still very young, or I knew a baby boy heading towards his first Christmas then this is something I'd buy.

The tools and tool box of this My First Tool Box plush set are all soft - if you have children of your own then you'll have experienced them inadvertently bashing themselves on the head with hard plastic tools, or something similar; the tears and upset from those little accidents is something which can be avoided if your tools are soft and lovely!

The plush tool box contains a hammer, spanner, screwdriver and pair of pliers and it zips up, keeping them all neat and tidy when they're not being played with.

The plush My First Tool Box measures approximately 18 x 17cm and each tool roughly 5 x 15cm.  More than 1,700 have been sold and the only thing I can tell you is that, at the time of writing (8.50am) there are more than 10 available - so that could be 11 or it could be 111, your guess is as good as mine!

Build A Bear Toys Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 11 December, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Build A Bear Toys Review

Over the last year, we've acquired two Build A Bear soft toys: a rabbit and a bear.

As an overall verdict, I have to say that they are great. The bears are well made, the accessories are super-cute, and there's enough variety and option that you're highly unlikely to buy something the intended recipient already owns.

They're also relatively unique, so you're not going to end up two or three of the same toys under the Christmas tree.

There's attention to even small details – for example, the rabbit has a tail, and her jeans (and the panties underneath!) have a hole in for the tail to go through.

Our rabbit came in jeans and a t-shirt, while the bear came in full Viking regalia, complete with a material sword and shield, a Viking hat and boots. There are loads of other outfits to choose from too – a jedi knight, Christmas costumes, and various fairy tale costumes, as well as 'fashion' clothing, formal clothings, sports and swim wear.

There's also a plethora of accessories, from health care to electronics to furniture to go with your new furry Build A Bear friend.

All Build A Bears come in a cardboard 'house' complete with windows and doors for safekeeping. We sealed up the windows on ours and use them for storing small toys.

We love them and will be adding to our her collection this Christmas too.

Big And Small 'Big' Toy £4.99 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 6 October, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Big And Small 'Big' Toy £4.99 @ Amazon

If you love the Big and Small TV characters, you are going to love this 'Big' soft toy from Amazon at only £4.99 – a whopping 62% discount.

The British TV show Big and Small has captured the hearts of many children around the country, in fact on 40 channels around the world, thanks to the BBC. The familiar format of characters doing something, a conflict arising, and then resolving the conflict and at least one song in each episode engages little people with award winning entertainment.

If your little one loves the show, they will adore the 33cm purple plush toy. People who have left reviews on Amazon comment particularly that the toy perfectly resembles his TV counterpart, and is well made, which in a child's toy is a great bonus.

You can add 'Small' to the purchase too for a further £4.98, bringing the total for the pair to a very reasonable £9.97 – still £3.02 shy of the original price tag for 'Big' alone. Add the free Super Saver delivery to the deal and it is definitely a great bargain for fans of this children's comedy show, or lovers of soft toys.

Hello Kitty Soft Toy £10 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 September, 2010 at 11:00 am

Hello Kitty Soft Toy £10 @ TescoI have NO idea why 'Hello Kitty' is as loved and successful as she is. Tesco have reduced their Hello Kitty18" soft toy by 50%, and when they do this their stock tends to fly off the shelves FAST! So don't hang around on this one.

I'm not sure what I can tell you about this deal; a soft toy is a soft toy!

So this Hello Kitty 18" soft toy doesn't do anything. It doesnt' require any batteries and it doesn't make any noises - there are no rattles, crackles, squeaks or tinkling bells.

There are no flashing lights or moving parts (oooh it's sounding better and better with every word I write!) there's no need for water or parental supervision - all your child has to do with Hello Kitty is LOVE her!

I did a quick bit of a research (I'm a bit like that) and discovered that Hello Kitty has been around since 1975!

Apparently she wasnt' given a mouth so that your own feelings, whether happy or sad, could be projected onto her, meaning she'd be happy or sad with you and there'd be some sort of empathy going on.

Fancy that, so her designer didn't just 'forget' then...

This particular Hello Kitty soft toy should be £20, but is up for grabs for £10 - go and get one, they won't stay in stock for long!

Thanks to babyblue over HUKD

ps - apparently, they are available for this price IN STORE too, if you happen to be going to Tesco any time soon!

Cuddly Meerkat £4.99 @Play.com

Cuddly Meerkat £4.99 @Play.com

Ok so this is a slightly left-field deal post but bear with me. This soft toy meerkat can be yours for £4.99 instead of £5.99 at Play.com right now...

'Why would I want  cuddly meerkat?' you might well be asking yourself, and I understand that. Except my kid fell in love with meerkats at the zoo recently and decided to spend his pocket money on one of these dudes in the gift shop on our way home. Never has a meerkat been the recipient of so much love. He takes this furry friend with him absolutely everywhere and even bedtime is easy when he has his meerkat to take along for company.

I think I would have laughed at this post were it not for the fact that my son's meerkat is such a beloved toy. So if you're looking for something a bit different for a birthday pressie, why not try this 8" cuddly meerkat?

Teddy bears are sooo last year.
