Zinc Fuze Scooter £24.99 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 15 April, 2012 at 11:00 am

Zinc Fuze Scooter £24.99 @ ArgosThe Zinc Fuze Scooter does something pretty cool. It sends off sparks out the back when the brakes are applied. Normally this scooter is sold for £49.99 at Argos, but it has the scooter on half price sale for £24.99. The next cheapest we've seen is at JJB for £39.99. You can opt to collect this item in-store for free.

My son's scooter gets a lot of use. If we have to go somewhere where there will be a lot of walking, I can pull him along (it makes long days out much easier at the end of the day), and use it for putting bags on the handles. Easier for me!

Blaze while you brake on the Zinc Fuse Scooter! It's the coolest scooter on the street, according to the website. You can impress your friends as they watch the sparks fly from the back, as you scoot past them in style.

Sparks when the brake is used on this foldable, 2 wheel scooter. These are 120mm, puncture proof wheels. Scooter also has anti-slip footplate, easy grip handles and adjustable handlebar height. The handlebar height range is 73 to 82cm. The footbrake is at the rear.

The Zinc Fuze Scooter measures 82cm high, 22cm in width and 65cm in depth. It weighs 3kg and can take user weights up to 50kg. There's some, minimal, assembly although the site doesn't say what is involved. Just that it comes packed flat. Recommended age is for 4 years and upwards.

Micro Flex Scooter Review

by Lynley Oram in Reviews on 21 February, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Micro Flex Scooter ReviewScooters are a part of modern family life now. It is about time then that we reviewed one of them for you. This particular model is the Micro Scooter Flex 99). Don't be put off by the price. I'll explain more about why we decided on this model to review, and how it is particularly good value, later.

I bet, if you're reading this and have children aged under 10, there's a scooter parked somewhere in your hallway/patio/garden shed. They make life so much easier. Children love to kick them along the pavement, and you love that they keep them moving and in a straight line towards where you're going.

There are added bonuses to having a scooter out and about with you as well. Shopping bags and other items can be hung off the handle bars when you're out. On longer trips, when children get tired you can pull them along on the scooter.

My stepson got one of the first Micro Scooters when they came out in the late 1990s. He was 12 at the time, and  it went everywhere with him. It then got pressed into service for my son, when he turned 4 and grew out of his pedal-less bike. I could have got one of the three wheeler types for him, but I figured he'd only grow out of that in a year so might as well go for the two wheel one straight off.

We've been using that for the last 18 months now, and it goes everywhere with us. Here's a handy tip if you're in London. The Natural History Museum classifies folded up scooters as pushchairs - which means they're free to leave in the cloakroom. Bonus! Worth checking the policy at your local museums.

Read on to find out more about what the Micro Scooter Flex is like to use in real life.

In The Night Garden Scooter £12.98 @ Argos eBay

The colourful 3 wheeled In The Night Garden Scooter is on sale at Argos’ eBay outlet for £10.99, add £1.99 for express delivery, and the total comes to £12.98.

This scooter is a brand new, unused, unopened and undamaged item. It has extra stability for beginners, and three wheels for balance.  The footprint has a scene from In The Night Garden on it and is printed with an anti-slip material.

Easy grip handles attach to a height adjustable handlebar with a height range of 64-70cm. It’s size is H75, W38, D60cm but when it’s folded it’s height is 48.5cm.

Suitable for ages three and above, the maximum weight for using this is 20kg.

It does require some assembly – the front fork, handlebar and rear wheel – so to avoid disappointment when it arrives, keep the toolbox  handy.

Express delivery should see it on your doorstep within two days, so you might just miss Christmas – but it’s still a good price if you’re looking beyond that already.

JD Bug Original Scooter £31.50@ ExtremePie.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 May, 2011 at 9:00 am

JD Bug Original Scooter £31.50@ ExtremePie.comExtremePie are selling this JD Bug original scooter for £31.50 instead of £50.

Tamsin has called me Pie for years (that's one of the more polite names she has for me) so anything with the name Pie in it tends to catch my eye, hence this scooter post.

£35 for an in-line scooter might seem a bit much, but this one is virtually indestructible as it's made from Aircraft Grade Aluminium for super strength.

This can only be a good thing if you have a young scooter like my youngest; scooters are for scooting, yes, by they're also for trying to do BMX bike tricks on! Trust me when I say that Ben 10 and Spongebob scooters tend not to stand up well to this level of abuse!

The JD Bug scooter has a single action folding/unfolding mechanism along with a rear wheel guard and brake.

If you're worried about little fingers getting trapped the JD Bug scooter is, apparently, the safest folding scooter available in the UK having passed the following safety tests:- 1) GS mark, by TUV Germany. 2) CATRA Product Metallurgical Test. 3) STR Product Safety Test. 4) STR Entrapment Hazard Test.

Standard delivery is free from ExtremePie and you'll notice that the published price for this JD Bug scooter is £35; enter FIRSTORDER10 into the promotion code box in your basket and it will come down to £31.50; marvellous.

SpongeBob SquarePants Scooter £8.98 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 8 May, 2011 at 8:00 am

SpongeBob SquarePants Scooter £8.98 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this SpongeBob Squarepants scooter for £8.98 (for the moment anyway) instead of £19.99.

Now, I wrote about a Spongebob scooter last month, but this is a DIFFERENT one - that one was a for littlies who are just beginning their scooting career, this one is for scooters who've been scooting for a while and need/want something a little more grown up.

I'm not sure if Spongebob Squarepants constitutes 'grown up' but, perhaps, with the massive cult student following he has, he DOES...what do I know, I'm just the writer!

So THIS Spongebob scooter has three adjustable handle heights, so it will continue to grow with your child as they shoot up; they have a habit of doing that just as you buy them something for their current size.

The whole handle folds down and the hand grips fold in too, making it perfect for throwing in the boot of the car for away-from-home scooting and space saving when it's not being scooted on.

It also has a rear brake foot brake for those moments when you realise the hill was steeper than it looked and you're going W A Y too fast - do you remember that feeling? Thrilling, but scary as hell!

And of course, being a Spongebob Sqaurepants scooter it's plastered in Spongebob Squarepants images, it would be a bit random otherwise really.

Free delivery with the SuperSaver option which generally takes three to five days.

Sponge Bob Square Pants Scooter £9.22 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 April, 2011 at 8:00 am

Sponge Bob Square Pants Scooter £9.22 @ Amazon

Amazon are currently selling this Sponge Bob Square Pants Three Wheel Scooter for £9.22 instead of £19.99.

Sponge Bob Square Pants gives me nightmares; a fair few years ago now, I drove my daughter and her friends into town and Sponge Bob was the 'man' of the moment.  They sang the theme tune ALL the way from home into town, 25 minutes of complete and utter Sponge Bob hell!

I hope you never have to endure such torture and the worst that happens is you have to spend endless hours outside with your child because they want to scoot on their Sponge Bob Square Pants three wheel scooter.

I much prefer three wheel scooters to those inline ones with wheels so tiny you can barely see them.

The Sponge Bob Square Pants scooter is nice and stable and easy for younger riders to enjoy, as well as enjoying all their favourite square dude characters which are plastered ALL over it - I loved things decorated with my favourite characters when I was a kid.

A quick word to the wise, there aren't that many of these Sponge Bob Square Pants scooters left in stock - so if you want one, ORDER one or you run the risk of missing out.

Sylvanian Families 3 Wheel Scooter £10.73 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 18 April, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Sylvanian Families 3 Wheel Scooter £10.73 @ Amazon

This Sylvanian Families 3-wheel scooter is £10.73 at Amazon, 46% off from £19.99, including delivery. (And if that's too girly for your liking, there's also a Sponge Bob 3-wheeler offering for £9.22, which is 54% off.)

The 3-wheel Sylvanian Families scooter from Amazon is aimed at pre-schoolers who still need that little extra support. Apparently, (and obviously, really), the scooter helps develop coordination and balance, and is aimed at youngsters aged 3 years and up.

Says Amazon, “The Sylvanian Families 3 wheeled scooter features beautifully colored Sylvanian Families graphics and matching decals to bring fun and delight to pre-school Sylvanian tots. And yes, I know how to spell “coloured”, but apparently Amazon staff know how to cut and paste from American sites.

Reviewers say it needs a little assembly, which can be a bit difficult, and one complained of “wonky welding”, but it wasn't so bad she wanted to send it back. Her daughter loves it though, and didn't even notice. The second reviewer agreed, saying that it was a pretty scooter, but not as stable as some others she'd seen.

With only a 3.5 star rating, it seems an 'okay' scooter at a good price, but at full price, probably not so much.

Waybuloo Triscooter £12.48 @ Tesco Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 8 August, 2010 at 9:00 am

Waybuloo Triscooter £12.48 @ Tesco DirectMy sister-in-law and little neice came to stay for a couple of days this week and she had this little Waybuloo triscooter!

She's an avid Waybuloo fan and also brought her litle DeeLi toy with her (I had a lot of fun making her say all the little catch phrases - the DeeLi toy, not my neice!) and it was lovely to see her scooting along on her little Waybuloo scooter, it was just too cute.

Tesco have reduced the price from £24.97 down to £12.48, which make it a great price, and perhaps something that can be bought now for *whispers* Christmas and stored away until December.

Or maybe you just want to buy your little Waybuloo fan something 'just because' or because they've done, or achieved something, special.

It has a sturdy tubular steel frame, a 20kg maximum weight capacity and is suitable for little ones aged three years or over.

Waybuloo Triscooter £12.48 @ Tesco DirectThe scooting platform is non-slip and shows all four Waybuloo characters (aka Piplings, for the unitiated!) and it also comes with stickers so your child can customise their scooter; along with two wobbling character 'things' on the handlebars, this is a Waybuloo dream.

Collect in-store for free or pay £5 for home delivery.

Mr Men/Little Miss Inline Scooter £10 for two @ Tesco Direct

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 21 May, 2010 at 8:00 am

Mr Men/Little Miss Inline Scooter £10 for two @ Tesco DirectThis one is pure genius. Two inline scooters for the price of one scooter - which had already been reduced down to £10. You can get this deal using the voucher code Td-P47F. The original price for this scooter was £39.97.Delivery is free if you collect instore.

Do I need to explain to anyone what these little scooters are and how they work? I think that, if you’ve ever spent more than five seconds in a playground or schoolyard, you’ll have seen one in action. The park next to our primary school has a long, gently sloping hill that the children love scooting all the way down, wind in hair, and no need for brakes.

I’m a big believer in stockpiling presents for birthday presents. It is a necessity really – who can afford to buy fifteen or possibly more presents a year? This deal is perfect for that.

Mr Men/Little Miss Inline Scooter £10 for two @ Tesco DirectThis Little Miss/Mr Men in-line scooter comes in a bright colourful design with printed grip tape. This scooter has a secret compartment within which 5 authentic Little Miss or Mr Men characters are contained. The scooter has an adjustable handlebar height, rear foot brake and folds for storage. Age range 5 years+.

Ben 10 Tri Scooter £19.97 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 May, 2010 at 9:00 am

Ben 10 Tri Scooter £19.97 @ TescoI'm still in scooter mode after last night's inline scooter post!

So I had absolutely NO idea about Ben 10!  I've seen lots of Ben 10 'stuff' around but I've never had the need, or the inclination, to find out any more about him...until this morning.  I figured I should probably make the effort rather than posting something like:

"I don't know anything about Ben 10....but here's a great scooter if you're son's into that sort of thing!"

So after a quick couple of lessons in Ben 10 from my teenage son and Lynley, one of the other writers here at PlayPennies, I'm slightly less clueless than I was half an hour ago: Ben 10 - a 10-year-old boy who finds some alien bracelet thing, puts it on, can't get it off, can now turn into various aliens and fights bad guys both alien and earthly, that's about the gist of it!

Ben 10 Tri Scooter £19.97 @ TescoUnlike inline scooters, this one has three wheels so it's nice and stable and easy for younger riders to enjoy; the handle height is adjustable too.  You'll have to get your tools out and put your self-assembly hat on as it comes in pieces but from the reviews I've read (and they're all glowing) it's dead easy to put together.

It's been reduced from £24.97 down to £19.97 and as usual standard delivery applies if you don't want to go and pick it up from your nearest Tesco store.

Happy Ben 10 scooting!
