I adore puzzles, I used to do them all the time as a kid; if I had the time I'd sit down and lose myself in a good 1000 piece one now - but I don't, so I can't.

Instead I do puzzles with my youngest, ok so they're not very taxing on the adult brain but you know...the satisfaction of putting in that final piece is still the same.

Puzzles are fantastic for developing all sorts of skills such as: pattern recognition, patience, order and logic along with the fine motor skills required to piece them everything together.

This Waybuloo puzzle is wooden (I have a real weakness for wooden toys) and is made up of eight chunky pieces, making it ideal for little hands to get to grips with.

It would make a lovely little 'just because' pressie or even buy a couple to keep in the emergency present draw - it's always handy to have something stashed away for those birthdays that COMPLETELY slipped your mind!

It seems Ravensburger is definitely going after the younger generation as it brings out movie-themed pieces like this 3D puzzleball. The Toy Story 3 Puzzleball Spaceship is made up out of 40 shaped plastic puzzle pieces that fit together to create a 3D spaceship.

Buzz Lightyear is at the controls, and one of those weird little “you saved our lives” aliens is a crew member smiling at you with a rather eerie smile.

For ease of use, the pieces are numbered on the reverse side, making it easier for little ones to assemble the ship. A great feature – since the space ship is round – is that the puzzle comes with a display stand to show off the finished product.

Suitable for ages 8 and up, the spaceship is 9cm in diameter. It is also available for home deliver, which takes around 2 days and will cost an additional £3.95, or free for click and collect, but that needs three days notice.

I love Me To You, specifically because my sister is a massive fan. She has what I'm sure is the world's largest collection and it's one of those things I can by default buy her for Christmas, her birthday, as a thank you and any other occasion. The bonus is that whenever I see Me To You bears, I think of her, too.

Of course, it'll also be a great mother's day gift.
