Tinga TInga Tales Hippo Fleece Blanket £2.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 3 February, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Tinga TInga Tales Hippo Fleece Blanket £2.99 @ Play.com

This is a pretty good buy, especially with the freezing temperatures we’re experiencing at the moment. I want to go to the shops wrapped in a duvet right now! This Tinga Tinga Tales Hippo fleece blanket is down from £9.99 to only £2.99 which is a saving of £7.

The Tinga Tinga Tales series is on CBeebies and has become really popular lately. I’m not a huge fan because they mix and match animals from Africa as if it’s a blender, not staying region specific. Not only that, they have animals from Australia in the show. What’s that all about?

Anyway, fans will enjoy this toasty warm fleece blanket with a beaming hippo on the front. It is made from polyester and is 120x150cm in size. It isn’t very big and I would never have paid the original price for this but for £2.99 it would make a nice snuggly for TV watching.

Ozbozz Nebulus TX Scooter Blue Or Pink £7.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 30 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Ozbozz Nebulus TX Scooter Blue Or Pink £7.99 @ Play.com

If you fancy getting your kids some scooters to zoom their way to playgroup or school without spending an absolute fortune, then these are the ones for you. Available in either pink or blue, the Ozbozz Nebulus TX scooters are good quality and do what they should and only cost £7.99 at Play.com right now.

The Ozbozz Nebulus TX scooters usually cost around £10.99 but this discount, plus the free delivery, means you can get two for only a little over the price of one. Great for those of you who have lovely big families!

I have reviewed some of the Ozbozz scooters in the past and I found them very sturdy and reliable. While they are solid metal and as tough as old boots they don’t offer the same soft and elegant lines as the MicroScooters do, but they are almost 100% cheaper.

A great buy, especially with the folding down mechanism for easy storage, that can be adjusted to cope with kids over the age of five.

Disney Princess Chandelier Junior Rotary Bedding Bundle £14.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Disney Princess Chandelier Junior Rotary Bedding Bundle £14.99 @ Play.com

This is a pretty good deal for a full on rotary bedding bundle with the whole Disney Princess theme going on. Down from £22.99 to only £14.99, this Disney Princess Chandelier rotary bedding bundle is worth looking into.

Of course delivery is completely free with this prize but it will, naturally, take ages to arrive. This lovely children’s toddler bed set from Disney features two of the favourite princesses. Know who they are? If you’ve got a Disney mad daughter you can probably recite them in your sleep…

Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty – these two are on this set. The most insipid of the princesses I’m afraid. The set includes one junior quilt 3.5 tog, one pillow, one Disney Princess duvet set and the items are made from polyester and cotton mix.

The Disney Princess duvet set is designed to fit a toddler bed, Junior bed or cot bed mattress so anyone with kids in big bed need not apply.

Cutesy Pals Unicorn Or Sheep £3.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Cutesy Pals Unicorn Or Sheep £3.99 @ Play.com

These are too cute for words. You get the Cutesy Pals unicorn or donkey soft and snuggly pillows for £3.99 instead of £10, a saving of well over half the original price. And, of course, the delivery is free from Play.com, if a bit slow.

Snuggle and cuddle your very own unicorn pet in the shape of a soft and furry pillow. Kids should have lots of fun collecting these furry creatures and they look very cute indeed. Not only can they be used as soft toys to play with but when they are all tired and finished, they can curl up and sleep on them.

The pet pillows are brilliant for travel, especially on planes and trains, as kids can sleep on them as comfortably as a normal pillow. There are three different designs – sheep, unicorn and ladybug – but only the sheep and the unicorn appear to be on sale.

2012 Team GB Trunki £21.99 @ Play.com

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 22 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

2012 Team GB Trunki £21.99 @ Play.com

There’s £18 off the 2012 Team GB Trunki at Play.com at the moment. Normally retailing at a whopping £39.99, it’s now just £21.99.

I’m actually not all that sure what I think of this. To be  honest, I’m so crowd-o-phobic, (yes, I know there’s an actual term for it, and I know the actual term is agoraphobia, but I’m not actually agoraphobic, I just don’t like crowds, so… crowd-o-phobic) that I have every intention of not leaving the house for the duration of the Olympics. I know I’m pretty alone in that view, however, so for the rest of you, this could be a fantastic fun, useful and practical memento from the 2012 London Olympics.

I think we all know Trunki by now – they’re designed to be used as hand luggage kids can both pack for trips and ride on when you’re waiting in the inevitable queues.

This one also comes with a sticker pack so your little one can add that personal touch to it – which can make a great activity on your first trip, so don’t be in too much of a hurry to give it to them before you take off!

Learning Resources: Pretend And Play Farmer's Market Fruit Set £3.99 @ Play.com

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 22 January, 2012 at 9:00 am

Learning Resources: Pretend And Play Farmer's Market Fruit Set £3.99 @ Play.comI've come across this range of food toys at a friend's house and I thought they were brilliant. Not at all squashy like the play food my son had got with his pretend shop. I don't know if all kids love doing this, but he used to love playing with pretend food. Fruit, vegetables, cakes, pretend pizza. This Learning Resources Pretend and Play Farmer's Market fruit set has been reduced to £3.99 by Play.com, down from £8. Delivery is free.

The site says the set isn't suitable for children under 36 months (ie under 3 years). This range of life sized plastic play food is brilliant for pretend play and is designed to look just like the real thing.

The fruit is made from washable, durable, safe, plastic. The seven fruits - an apple, banana, pear, two strawberries, orange, and apricot - are styled to closely resemble the real thing in both size and colouring. An excellent addition to any pretend kitchen or shop.

The life size pieces measure between 5cm and 19cm.

Learning Resources is a leading manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational materials for classrooms and homes world-wide and as learning toys. For more than 20 years, Learning Resources has been a source for teachers and parents for quality, award-winning educational products.

Timmy’s Playground Playset £2.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 16 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Timmy’s Playground Playset £2.99 @ Play.com

I think this is my choice deal of the day as it has the biggest discount so far. Here is the Timmy’s Playground Playset that usually costs £9.99 and it is down to £2.99 including free delivery from Play.com. That is a big saving of £7 which is around 70% off.

Timmy’s Playground Playset comes with a Timmy Time figure as well as a swing and a bouncer for Timmy to enjoy. The entire set has a little fence around half of it and is really cute with little leaves and flowers popping out of the swing.

Kids can enjoy spending time with Timmy in the nursery school playground but the set is not suitable for kids under 36 months old. This saving makes this a great buy and you can see at the bottom of the page a whole bunch of other Timmy Time deals that include the Showtime Playset and the Nursery School Playset.

Fisher Price: Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Campground £10.99 @ Play.com

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 15 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Fisher Price: Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Campground £10.99 @ Play.comPlay.com have the Disney Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Campground from Fisher Price on offer at £10.99 instead of £17.99, saving you £7 and nothing to spend on delivery.

I used to quite like Mickey Mouse, and found the Clubhouse stuff relatively inoffensive to my rather short temper.  However, 26 weeks of pregnancy sickness rendered me a little useless as a mother at times, and our intake of Mickey and his Clubhouse adventures became far more frequent than I’d like to admit in a public place.  Suffice it to say, Mickey and his mooska-ventures are no longer welcome in our house as my husband and I now find it intolerable.

My daughter hasn’t gotten the memo though, and still frequently asks to curl up on the sofa and watch ‘Mickey Mouse on the laptop’. *sigh*

I’m not telling her about this offer, but I can tell you -  the set comes with a kayak, log-chairs, a bbq, a Clubhouse inspired tent that opens up, and a picnic basket. It also comes with a Mickey figurine and the ever-useful Toodles red reveal road sign and a Mystery Disk.

Moshi Monsters Kids Tote Bag £2.99 @ Play.com

Moshi Monsters Kids Tote Bag £2.99 @ Play.com

There are actually a lot of different tote bags and backpacks on sale at Play.com for kids and all of them are sitting at this excellent price point of £2.99. I love the Moshi Monsters tote bag just because I love the game and the little monsters themselves. This is a great price, down from £5.99 you are saving £3.

Click here to tote on over to Play.com

The Moshi Monsters kids tote back has the Poppet Moshi Monster on the cover and is 22x20.5x7cm in size. It aint enormous and it won’t carry the world, but it will probably enchant your little ones with the cuteness that is the Moshi Monsters. It is also made from PVC so not really gorgeous material here.

The Moshi Monsters Kids Shopper Bag has also been reduced by the way. This is really cute as it is absolutely covered in pictures of all the Moshi Monsters and their Moshlings and it is selling for the same lovely low price.

Maxell Kids Safe Headphones £3.59 @ Play.com

Play is selling two pairs of Maxell kids safe headphones in either pink or blue at a nice discount at the moment. The pink ones are on sale for £3.99 and the blue ones are on sale for £4.99 (weird how different colours cost different prices) but using the code below you can take even more off the price.

The Maxell kids safe headphones are usually around £6.99 each so you are saving nearly half of the original price. The code you need to reduce the cost even more is 1DAY10. The headphones are designed to fit small children’s heads comfortably with plenty of adjustment room and they have a lower volume to protect their ears.

The come with a two year warranty and are lightweight with soft cushioned pads on the ears to keep them comfy and to not put too much pressure on the delicate tissue. They work with most systems and would be brilliant for long journeys by car, train or plane when movies keep them entertained.

Kinect Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 £17.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 1 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Kinect Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 £17.99 @ Play.com

This is another excellent deal for those of you looking for a way to shed some Christmas pounds and get those svelte pre-Christmas pud bodies back. This particular series of fitness titles for the Xbox Kinect has had excellent reviews and delivers some fab workouts.

Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 includes new content and has also been modified to suit the feedback given by users to make it more intuitive and user friendly. I am using the first version and must admit that it can be a little convoluted to use and understand at first.

This game has over 90 hours of content with both improved content from the original and completely new exercises as well. Your instructor will now tell you what you are doing wrong and teach you how to improve your moves as well. This is a vast improvement on the original as you can genuinely work on getting your body into shape the right way.

Disney Cars Kid's Backpack £2.99 @ Play.com

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 1 January, 2012 at 11:00 am

Disney Cars Kid's Backpack £2.99 @ Play.comHere we are, almost half way in to the very first day of 2012. Here's hoping this is a good year! And that maybe, just MAYBE, I actually manage to get a ticket to something at the Olympics. I failed at every single round. Am not happy! Anyway, to cheer me up, here's a lovely little bargain from Play.com. A Disney Cars Kid's Backpack, for £2.99 including delivery. The normal RRP is £9.99.

In two weeks my friend's youngest has his third birthday, and looking at this gave me some inspiration. I've a number of Cars themed little items in the present drawer. I can wrap each one, put it in the backpack, and wrap that. Something a bit different at least.

There's nothing on the website to describe the bag at all, so I'm assuming it is a straightforward, single pocket, bag. It doesn't even give you a size, but I figure it is about the same as all these sorts of bags. So about right for an 18 month old to about 3 years. You don't get a lot in there but at least they can carry their own toys when you go out!

Tube Town Disney Princess Castle £34.99 @ Play.com

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 26 December, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Tube Town Disney Princess Castle £34.99 @ Play.com

The Ninja Corporation Tube Town Disney Princess Castle at Play.com is currently on sale for £34.99, a massive £45 saving off the £79.99 RRP.

We reviewed the Tube Town Disney Princess Castle here on PlayPennies over a year ago now, and our mum who tested it at the time, Selina, told us that it was a huge playhouse.

“… the kids are able to have a proper game of house and mummy and daddy get to join in as well! The downside is that, as it takes up so much space in our flat, we aren't able to keep it up permanently.

The houses have doors, windows and detailed pictures and design and little ones are attended by Belle and the other Disney Princesses, both inside and out.

With unique tube technology, Tube Town playhouses can be inflated through specially designed valves using the high-volume hand pump included in just a couple of minutes, according the manufacturer. Whilst inflation is extremely quick, deflation is even faster thanks to a rapid release valve.

A hand pump and ground pegs are included, and delivery is free with Play.com.

Up To 40% Off @ Play.com

Up To 40% Off @ Play.com

There’s up to 40% off at Play.com in the toys and baby section, with 1198 items to choose from.

I love the category break downs – they make it so much easier to search for hidden treasures.

For example there are 240 Pre School aged toys including the Voila Wooden Kaleido-Fun Shape Making Game which is reduced from £17.99 to £8.99. and Winnie The Pooh Interactive Friend reduced from £39.99 to £26.99.

There are ride-ons too, from the Y Bike Extreme which was £54.99 and is now £43.99 to the Wooden Walker Wagon Fire Enginewhich has a £9 saving and is selling for £35.99.

Musical toys range from the wooden Kazoo Trumpet for £8.99 to the Wonderworld: Wonder Drum for £16.19 and a Groovy Musical Set for £8.99  - a whopping £12 saving – to the very odd looking Quercetti Super Saxoflute for £9.39.

There really are loads of options to choose from, and I’m not even sure if these are sales different to Boxing Day Sales, because if they aren’t so named. We’ll find out tomorrow, I’m sure, but in the meantime, these aren’t bad prices to start with!

Nintendo Wii Console + MotionPlus + Mario & Sonic At The London 2012 Games £89.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 20 December, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Nintendo Wii Console + MotionPlus + Mario & Sonic At The London 2012 Games £89.99 @ Play.com

This is a pretty toasty deal from Play.com but unlikely to arrive in time for Christmas. You get the Nintendo Wii console in blue along with the Wii MotionPlus and the game Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic games and all for £89.99 including free delivery.

The entire bundle here is superb value for money, especially when you consider how the Wii alone cost over £200 not that many years ago. This entire kit is also done up entirely in blue, which is pretty cool in my view.

The game, Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympics seems ok. I haven’t played it but the ads look like much of the same to me – the same as Wii Sports etc, that is – however, I could be wrong and for this price you can’t go far wrong either. Even if the game is a bit rubbish, you get the entire Wii set up for a fraction of the old price.

Hornby R1153 London 2012 Train Set £59.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 18 December, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Hornby R1153 London 2012 Train Set £59.99 @ Play.com

This Hornby train set has been marked down from £99.99 to only £59.99 at Play.com and it comes with free delivery. The train is set to look like it is part of the 2012 Olympics and so is smothered in branding and Olympic style.

The Olympic and Paralympic icons are used to great effect on the Class 395 model train. It comes with a specially prepared TrakMat featuring some venues from the London 2012 Games. The train is designed with the modern snub nose and sleek front and looks lovely.

Both the power cards have lights which operate in the direction of travel and all together they create a spectacle as they traverse the track that’s included in the set. You get two cars, one train front, a remote control unit, plenty of track and the TrakMat mentioned earlier.

I love model trains so this would make an ace Christmas gift for my daughter – something we can play together.

LEGO 2012 Calendar £3.49 @ Play.com

LEGO 2012 Calendar £3.49 @ Play.com

Play.com have next year’s LEGO calendar on sale for £3.49, including free delivery – a £6.50 saving off the usual price of £9.99.

Here’s what the blurb tells us about the calendar: “…. …. … “. That’s right folks, a whole lot of nothing.

Using my master deduction skills (in other words, looking at the pictures), which may or may not prove to be accurate, there are 12 LEGO inspired images and, cleverly, that’s one for each month (yes, yes, I’m dripping with sarcasm.)

The images seem to range from scenes from LEGO City to LEGO Hero Factory, to something to do with surfers and I think a train station – the images aren’t that clear on the screen, but I’m sure they’ll be just great on the calendar.

It’s a month – to –view calendar so each page that opens up with one of the images and also has the month’s dates in boxes with enough space for you to make your notes on – assuming you have a pen that will show up on the dark background.

Apologies for the lack of much solid information here, I’m telling you what I know – but either way, for £3.49 I can think of at least one LEGO lover who’d be pleased to find this in his man-sized stocking come Christmas morning.

The Brilliant PlayPennies Christmas Bargains

The Brilliant PlayPennies Christmas Bargains

We here at PlayPennies HQ spend our days hunting for deals, bargains, PlayPennies exclusives and reviews so that you can make informed (and cheap!) buying decisions. So I decided to find out exactly how Luschka, Lynley, Emma, Sarah and I saved money this Christmas.

My first victim was Lynley. I asked her what she’d bought this Christmas for her family thanks to PlayPennies deals she’d seen and whether or not she thought she’d saved any money. Her response was instantaneous, “I’ve bought stacks of stuff, to be honest. So much, in fact, that I can’t even remember all of it.”
