Lazy Town The Album £1.98 @ Play

Lazy Town The Album £1.98 @ Play

I bet most of you have heard of Lazy Town, yeah? Do any of you actually like it? Do you fancy Sporticus while wanting to strangle the other cast members? Do you boogie to the music? Well, I bet your kids love it and this album is perfect for driving you mad and making them happy, especially seeing as it only costs £1.98 including free delivery from Play.

The story behind Lazy Town is actually rather interesting. The girl who plays our pink-haired bouncy sweetie is well into her 20s and our Sporticus is a gold medal winning athlete who is really impressive when it comes to physical fitness. He also had no idea that the show would be so successful.

Every time the show comes on I think about how he would sigh and shake his head if he ever saw how unfit I was. Then he’d probably give me some “sports candy” and make me go for a run. Therefore, I tend to avoid any chances of meeting him. Hahah.

Anyway, here is the album and there is lots of dancing and exercising music on it. Enjoy!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Count Dooku Action Figure £4.99 @ Play

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Count Dooku Action Figure £4.99 @ PlaySpecifically, this is a Star Wars: The Clone Wars: 3.75 Inch Count Dooku Action Figure (Wave 4). I'm sure they could have come up with a longer name for the toy if they'd really thought about it. Play has this on half price sale right now, down from £8.99 to £4.99.

You can also get another baddie figure from Star Wars: The Clone Wars for £4.99. That's the Cad Bane Action Figure.

Star Wars stuff is particularly expensive I've found. Everything seems to be aimed at adults, who perhaps collect these sorts of things. Which seems to forget that there's still a huge audience of little kids out there who love this cartoon series and want to play out stories of their own.

Delivery is free on the website.

Now I'm not an expert on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. My son likes to watch the show on the Cartoon Network, and it is one of the few shows that doesn't drive me completely nuts. If you've ever seen the Cartoon Network you'll know there's some really weird stuff on there!

Being the Easter Holidays, he's been allowed to watch more TV than usual. Although there's not been any need to take up this option with the lovely weather we've had.

The Count Dooku figure comes with accessories, and a 'value added battle card', also described as a trading card.

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers £17.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 December, 2010 at 12:00 pm

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers £17.99 @ PlayPlay have a rather good deal on this My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers set, having reduced it from £34.99 down to £17.99.

Lots of happy childhood memories came flooding back when I saw this My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers set!

My brother had one and, not being a Barbie or Sindy sort of girl, I loved playing with it and racing those cars round and round.

Admittedly, as this was the best part of 30 years ago, the cars weren't BMW Mini Coopers, but they were Minis and they had names to - one of them was called Mini HaHa...that was the red one, and it was mine.

The track is a nice and simple figure of eight, for a frustration-free introduction to the world of Scalextric racing - there's nothing more irritating than spending more time putting your car back on the track than driving it round and round.

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers comes with two controllers and two BMW Mini Coopers in red and yellow.

There are also red and yellow chevrons on the track, so small people will find it easy to remember which car goes on which side of the track.

Happy Christmas Day Racing!

Peppa Pig: My Little Library £3.49 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 16 December, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Peppa Pig: My Little Library £3.49 @ PlayPlay have a rather nice little deal on these Peppa Pig Little Library books.

My youngest adored Peppa Pig when he was around two years old, he's four and a half now and into Bakugan and Ben 10 and he goes all soppy when you tell him that he used to be a big Peppa Pig fan.

I love these Peppa Pig Little Library books - they are such a fabulous way to introduce tiny kids to the wonderful world of books and the concept of reading.

Six little chunky board books make up the Peppa Pig Little Library and they come all nicely packaged in their own slip case.

This is perfect stocking filler material and whilst the novelty of some Christmas presents wears off pretty fast, books are something that will be enjoyed over and over and over.

These Peppa Pig Little Library Books are up for grabs for £3.49, instead of £4.99, so there's just a modest little saving to be had - but it's still a saving and that's a win for me.

There's no delivery to pay when you order from Play for delivery within the UK either.

My Own Morph £6.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 1 November, 2010 at 12:00 pm

My Own Morph £6.99 @ Play

Step back thirty years to the gentle halcyon days of Take Hart with Tony and Morph, with this My Own Morph kit.

It’s only fair!  The kids have umpteen million pots of playdough, soft squidgy stuff and mouldable mould so it’s about time there was something of a similar genre that us grown-ups will appreciate – Morph!

I know you've already started thinking about what lovely things you can send me for Christmas; forget diamonds, forget chocolates and champagne, just send me a My Own Morph and I'll be one very happy girl.

So this Morph won’t talk or move or do any of the things the real Morph did but that doesn’t matter because he’ll be YOUR Morph, created and born out of your own fair hands!

He comes with a step-by-step instructional DVD, some accessories to add character to your Morph - a beard, a magician's hat, skateboard etc - and 15 original Morph episodes on DVD too.

The plasticine never dries out so if your first few attempts aren’t that great you can ‘take hart’ and keep trying until you’ve mastered Morph!

For the sheer amount of joy I’d get out of moulding my Morph the £6.99 price tag is an absolute bargain (he should be £10.99) and there are no delivery charges to pay with Play either.

Happy Morph Making!

Disney Pixar Toy Story Interchangeable Watch £4.99 @ Play.com

Disney Pixar Toy Story Interchangeable Watch £4.99 @ Play.com

After a cute little stocking filler for the Toy Story enthusiast in your home? This interchangeable Toy Story watch face and badge clip from Play could be just the thing, especially at only £4.99, fully 44% off the normal £8.99 price.

I must admit to being a little bit of a Disney Pixar junkie. I think they're great films and I love that the storylines offer plenty for the adult viewer while also being completely child-appropriate. I've waited for years for a child I could take to the movies, and finally my time is here. And when there aren't any new movies to watch, there's always the paraphernalia.

This Toy Story watch comes with four interchangeable faces, each of which can also be popped onto the supplied clip and pinned to clothes, bags, or anything else your little ones might wish to decorate whenever it's not in active use as a watch face.

This watch is suitable for children aged 3+ and takes one LR41 battery, which is included.

Delivery from Play is free of charge and items are usually despatched within 24 hours.

Sanyo VPC-S120 12 Megapixel Camera £44.99 @ Play

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 October, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Sanyo VPC-S120 12 Megapixel Camera £44.99 @ Play

I know you're wondering what this Sanyo Camera for £44.99 from Play is doing on a parenting site, but bear with me!

As a first time mum and as a now 'experienced' mum to a one year old, I have been asked countless times what advice I would give to new parents, and my ten pence is simple: take at least one picture every day. It's a much harder challenge to meet than you might at first suspect, because really, some days you do nothing other than laundry! But take one picture every day, even if it is just of the washing machine, because not only does it give you a record of those first weeks when you look back through hazy memories, but you will also be so surprised to see the daily changes in your little one.

To aid this, I have always carried a compact camera in our nappy bag. That way, I can take a snap in the park, at the play group, in the car or at home. I have my 'real' camera for the important occasions, but having a nappy bag happy snapper means I don't have to worry about keeping it safe, but always have a way to capture moments that pass too soon.

I've never used a Sanyo camera, but at £44.99 it certainly seems worth trying.

The 12 megapixels means you can enlarge the pictures you love without losing quality, and the 2.7” screen makes for easy viewing of your pictures immediately after. When photographing children, face detection and image stabilisation are definite pluses too.

For moments too good to capture in still, there's a video mode and with a 32GB memory capacity you wont need to download pictures every day either. Another fantastic bonus for a busy parent who might not always remember to charge an internal battery is that the Sanyo camera takes two AA batteries, which can be replaced on the run, if needed.

In an already stocked nappy bag, the 99 grams of this camera will hardly make a difference, and can easily be moved to your handbag when you leave behind the nappy days.

Do you have a camera in your nappy bag? What are your thoughts?

Banagrams Word Game £9.58 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 August, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Banagrams Word Game £9.58 @ PlayI love word games and I love the portability of this Banagrams word game that's currently on offer at Play.com

So the age recommendation for this game is seven years onwards, well I don't buy into that one bit! I started playing Scrabble - which Banagrams is very similar too - when I was about five, I used to play it with my grandparents and I learned LOTS!

There are 144 letter tiles which are contained in a rather amusing banana skin.  You don't need a board, just a flat surface to play on which makes it easy to take out and about with you.

You can play with between two and eight players and each player takes a certain number of tiles. They are placed face down until someone shouts 'SPLIT!' Everyone turns their tiles over and has to make connecting words with their letters (think of everyone playing Scrabble on their own with their letters).

Then someone shouts 'PEEL!' and everyone has to take another letter from the banana and add it to their words. You can rearrange your words and letters as often as you like to accomodate the new letters and the person who uses all their letters first must shout 'BANANA!' and they win.

It sounds like there's lots of laughs to be had with Bananagrams,is a great way to spend time with your kids and teach them a thing or two along the way, all in the name of FUN!
