The summer is, theoretically, on its way and we have warm days and sunny skies to look forward to. So what do we all do? We leap into our cars and beetle off to camping grounds across the UK (and the world) to enjoy nature and each other.

The recommended age for the Sizzlin’ Cool Meadow Cottage (is it just me who thinks the name is a contradiction in terms?) is two years and up and you will have to spend another 1p to get free delivery which I think is extremely annoying.

This brightly coloured playhouse has a working front door that’s a half split and windows on either side. There is nothing inside the house so you’d have to furnish it yourself, and it does need self assembly when it is delivered flat placked.

The play house is dominant yellow in colour with green and red trim and a red roof, and it looks fairly robust if extremely plasticky. A good save off the original price though.

The Dunlop bike helmet and pad set is the ideal starter kit for young cyclists. The bike helmet is hard wearing with an adjustable strap and airholes for improved ventilation and comfort. I rather like the flashy flames painted onto it as well!

The elbow and knee pads come with a durable outer moulded shell for protection against crashes and bangs and the fasteners are adjustable for a more comfortable fit as well. While the helmet is adjustable, it will only fit heads 48-52cm in size so little ones with tiny heads or enormous ones may have to look elsewhere.

These little cars, the,Little Tikes Cozy Coupe have been hugely popular for toddlers for years now. You'll see them in gardens, on the landing, on balconies, in nuseries and One O'Clock clubs. And for a very good reason - they last quite well and stand up to a lot of abuse. They're not cheap though, so a £10 reduction is very welcome. Tesco Direct has them available for £39.93, down from £49.93. Apparently you can find them at the same price on Amazon as well, but I couldn't find this exact model when I looked. With Tesco Direct you can collect for free in store.

These girls inline skates are a really good buy at only £7.99 for the skates and £1.99 for delivery, taking the total price to under £10 for the whole package. Considering how well they look in the pic, I think these look like excellent value for money.

The girls inline skates are bright pink with a grey trim. Or is that a silver trim? Silver grey? Aargh. Anyway, the colouring is a bit foul but I bet most kids won’t really care that much. Most of the girls I know are just happy that pink is involved somehow. Still, these were clearly designed by someone with absolutely no sense of colour.

They are adjustable with an easy buckle closure and front buckle tightening mechanism. They have single heal brakes instead of the front node dude and take only take up to 60kgs maximum. They are very much plastic. They are also only available in sizes 13 to 3.

Time to start getting ready for the summer. You want to have as much outdoors for the kids to do as possible. Sandpits are great for this. We have one in our garden. The Trunki Bernard the Bee is apparently a limited edition ride on suitcase but I am not sure I believe that. The only one that seems to be rarer than rare is the cow one which I have never seen on sale again.

The Trunki vibe is simple – kids can ride on him, pack him, scoot on hi, relax on him or be pulled on him. Parents get to lose the load in their arms which, after over 10 hours of travel (and I speak from experience here), is utterly blissful and kids are kept entertained or comfy while we wait in all those interminable queues.
