Boules Set £3 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 April, 2013 at 10:00 am

Boules Set £3 @ TescoTesco are selling Boules sets for £3, rather than £5.

I rather like playing boules, and my kids loved it when they were small too. The idea is very simple and it can keep children occupied for a-g-e-s. The set comes with a little white jack ball - or the target ball, if you prefer the non-technical name - and eight boules, in four different colours all held in a handy carry case, so you can easily take them out and about with you.

So you throw the jack and then players have to throw their 'boules' at it and see who gets closest - that's it! See, dead simple and with this plastic boules set, you can play it inside as well as out.

The reviews that have been left are good too:

"Solid, weighty set, very good value for the money," and, "Good weight and size. Used these to play Boccia with young adults. Fantastic quality, fun for hours! Highly recommended," are just a couple of examples for you.

Of course, this deal is only going to save you cash if you pop into store and collect your Boules set in person. Delivery costs an additional £3, if you're really, really stuck.

Jumbo Badminton Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 24 April, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Jumbo Badminton ReviewAs I sit here writing this review, the sun has broken through clouds, and I can see the grassy patch outside flooded by bright light. After an arduous start to spring, just that sight feels a little bit like the first sight of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning! Now, hopefully, we'll have a few months of eating our dinners outside, and watching my children play in the garden. One can only hope!

Problem is, the garden and garden toys suffer greatly in competition with the lure of indoor toys, and sadly, kids TV! So, what's a mum to do? Get better garden toys, of course!

As it happens, Home Bargains recently sent us a Jumbo Badminton (£4.99) set to review, and we've had so much fun with it!

5 In 1 Games Bag £3.98 @ Tesco

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 September, 2012 at 7:00 pm

5 In 1 Games Bag £3.98 @ Tesco

Tesco have a 5 in 1 games bag on offer for £3.98 instead of £7.98, giving you a £4 saving on tennis, rounders, frizbee, football and zoomer - whatever that is!

There are no reviews of this set on the site, and there's not a huge amount of information, so apart from the fact that you're given the equipment to play the games mentioned above, well - there's not much else to tell you. At under £8 for the original price I don't imagine it's going to be the best quality you've ever come across in garden toys, but at under £4 there's bound to be value for money in the amount of time the kids get to spend outdoors with it!

From the looks of it, there's nothing in that set that's going to break the neighbour's windows, which makes it ideal for small gardens or communal areas. The product weight is 600g, which makes it sound rather flimsy, to be honest, but again - you're probably getting what you pay for. A bit of fun and something light and convenient to take along if you're heading off on a sun-seeking holiday.

Garden Basketball Set £9.96 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 June, 2012 at 10:00 am

Garden Basketball Set £9.96 @ TescoTesco are selling this garden basketball set for £9.96 - a bit of a bargain for something that comes with a fair number of benefits, I think!

For YEARS, my laundry basket perched up on top of the TV cabinet was a basketball hoop before I bought a proper one for the kids when they were small.

It was effective for indoor basketball but not so useful when they wanted to shoot hoops outside in the sunshine during the summer.

This little garden basketball set from Tesco is freestanding, height adjustable and comes with a backboard for bouncing the ball off, a small basketball and a pump to keep it nicely pumped up with.

It's suitable for little ones aged between five and eight-years-old, although I'm sure the recommended age police aren't going to come banging on your door if you let a younger child play with it!

The benefits I eluded to earlier?  Well, getting out to play in the garden (fresh air and stocking up on a bit of Vitamin D - don't forget sunscreen if the sun has made a welcome return) and the development of hand-eye coordination; marvellous.

Kickmaster Football Training Kit £10 @ Duncan's Toy Chest

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 May, 2012 at 9:00 am

Kickmaster Football Training Kit £10 @ Duncan's Toy ChestDuncan's Toy Chest (never heard of them before;  I had a boyfriend called Duncan once, but that's a whole other story!) are selling this rather nifty looking football training kit in a backpack for £10, rather than £14.99.

My youngest son has been going to football practice at the local football club, on Saturday mornings, for quite a while now and he was THRILLED beyond belief the other day to be told he'd been selected for the Under 7s team next season.

As you can imagine football training is now a very serious business, and now the summer has arrived (did you like how it seemed to rock up overnight!) lots of practice can be had at the little pocket park that's just a few paces away from home.

There are goal posts already there but sticks or tupperware tubs, stolen from the kitchen, are a bit naff as dribbling markers - so I'm going to buy him this football training kit backpack.  It's comes with four dribbling marker thingys (I have no idea what they're proper name is), a bright yellow Kickmaster football, a set of shin pads and a water bottle.

Delivery with Duncan's Toy Chest is free (hurrah!) so all you're going to pay for this football training kit is £10.

6ft Football Goal For The Garden £7.47 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 1 May, 2012 at 12:00 pm

6ft Football Goal For The Garden £7.47 @ TescoTesco Direct are selling this 6ft football goal for the garden for £7.47 rather than its full price of £14.94.

The only 'person' who plays football in my garden in Lucy the Lurcher dog, her goalkeeping skills are rather awesome so the bushes don't take too much of a hammering.

If, however, your flowerbeds, shrubs and bushes are doubling up as 'back of the net' for your little ones epic garden football matches, then you might just want to give Tescos £7.47 of your hard earned cash and pick up one of these garden football goals.

This 6ft metal football goal will transform your garden into their favourite premiership team's stadium (well, in your child's eyes it will) and earn you a stack of parental brownie points too; all you need after that is for the rain to stop so they can actually get out into the garden and shoot balls at it!

You can arrange to collect your football goal for free in-store or pay £3 for standard delivery.
