East Coast Angelina Cot Bed £84.99 @ ChemistDirect

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 31 October, 2011 at 11:00 am

East Coast Angelina Cot Bed £84.99 @ ChemistDirectIf I was looking for a cot bed, this East Coast Angelina cot bed would be one I'd seriously consider.

Cot beds, rather than just a standard cot, are the only way to go as far as I'm concerned.  All three of my children had cot beds and all three of them seamlessly made the transition from cot, to having the sides taken off and sleeping in it as a bed, to moving on to a full-size single bed.

Not only did it make that process a lot smoother, it also made it a lot cheaper; there was no need to buy bedding for a cot, then for a junior bed and then AGAIN for a single bed.

Cot beds can be expensive though and I bought a cot bed for my youngest from an eBay shop; I watched those items like a hawk and made a list of how much each one was selling for and averaged it out.  The cheapest was around the same price as this East Coast Angelina cot bed - £84.99, it's rrp is £169.99.

It's made from solid pine and features the following:

  • 2 protective teething rails (this is good, my eldest son used to scrape his teeth across the top of the cot rail *shudder*)
  • 3 mattress base heights
  • 2 fixed sides
  • 2 split ends to convert to bed mode
  • Takes standard mattress size 140 x 70cm & conforms to BSEN 716. (Cot mode)
  • Length 144cm, Width 77cm, Height 91cm, (bed mode)

You'll need to buy a mattress for your East Coast Angelina cot bed, but this is standard with all cots and cot beds, and there's no delivery to pay either.

Hemsley Nursery Set £399 @ Kiddicare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 17 June, 2011 at 9:00 am

Hemsley Nursery Set £399 @ Kiddicare

The Hemsley Nursery set at Kiddiecare is currently £399 – a £300 saving from the £699 RRP.  The set includes a cotbed, wardrobe and dresser.

One of the biggest expenses in setting up for a new baby is the furniture that goes into the nursery. Just last night I was saying that nurseries are a very Western thing, and according to the Bounty survey a cot is one of the things British mums consider to be an essential.

We never had one, for practicality sake – we didn’t have the room – but if it’s something you want, this set is a bargain, I think.

It comes with a cotbed with three position mattress base, meaning it works from newborn to 4 – 6 years of age as it changes to a toddler bed.  It doesn’t come with a mattress though, so this will be extra.

The dresser has three shelves to the right and a single cupboard with 2 further shelves to keep your changing and bathing items handy. Again, this doesn’t come with a changing mat, but they aren’t too expensive.

The 2-door wardrobe has four internal shelves and a hanging rail – although we have added an extendable hanging rail to my daughter’s wardrobe as there’s so much wasted hanging space in a baby/toddler wardrobe.

While this is a sleek and clean-looking set, it is made of chipboard and plywood so won’t be too heavy, but also won’t last forever.

JoJo Maman Bebe Promotional Code: £10 Off £50

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 16 April, 2011 at 8:00 pm

JoJo Maman Bebe Promotional Code: £10 Off £50Use this JoJo Maman Bebe promotional code to get £10 off when you spend £50 or more. The code works on sale items too. Delivery is free if you opt for the second class service.

Click here to use your JoJo Maman Bebe promotional code

  • Discount: £10
  • Minimum spend: £50
  • Promotional code: STE11
  • Expires: 18th April 2011

To use this code, go to the checkout, and enter it in the promotional code box. The £10 is deducted from the totals column, but also divided up and taken from the price of each item in your basket. This did slightly confuse me to start with. But ultimately, it doesn't matter as the total works out to a £10 reduction no matter how it is applied.

JoJo Maman Bebe aren't the cheapest mother and baby brand/retailer around. But oh boy, do they sell such lovely stuff. I know I bought a few items from there myself when I was pregnant, and I still wear the tops now.

The code works in the sale section, and I found three lovely dresses there to try it out on. I particularly liked the black 20s sequin dress, reduced from £39. 99 to £19.99.

Nursery Set £209.00 @ Argos

Nursery Set £209.00 @ Argos

If you didn't fancy the look of the wooden cot at M&S that we featured earlier today, you may prefer the Meg nursery set on sale at Argos for £209.00, a saving of £190.00 for a 3-piece set. (Despite being shown in the image, the chair is not included.

Unless you're planning on co-sleeping for a couple of years, you'll need a whole new room when your baby arrives, and setting up a nursery can be incredibly expensive – especially if you're going to have to change it all again as soon as the baby find a favourite Disney character.

The white Meg Nursery Set consists of a cotbed, suitable from birth to 20kg, a changing unit with shelving and a wardrobe.

The cotbed has three adjustable mattress base settings, but the mattress is not supplied. You will need an cross head screwdriver, flat head screwdriver and a light hammer for assembly. You will also need an allen key, but this is supplied.

The Meg nursery set is not available for store pick-up, but can be booked for home delivery, at an additional charge of £8.95

Mamas and Papas Sabrina Cot £69.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 25 August, 2010 at 8:00 am

Mamas and Papas Sabrina Cot £69.99 @ ArgosMamas and Papas nursery furniture can be expensive, but Argos are 'giving away' this Mamas & Papas Sabrina cot for just £69.99 instead of £114.89.

I always chose to have cotbeds for my three children, but not everyone wants, or has space for, something quite so big which is where normal sized cots come into their own.

This Mamas and Papas Sabrina cot has a lovely classic look to it as it's finished in an antique pine colour. One side drops down and each side rail has teething covers on them - this is a GREAT feature; my eldest used to set my teeth on edge, when he was little, as he used to drag his top teeth across the side rails of his cot bed *shudder*

The Sabrina cot doesn't come with a mattress but then very few cots, or cot beds, do - apparently this is to allow us parents to decide which mattress we'd like to be ripped off  for choose from!

The technical blurb for this Mamas & Papas Sabrina cot is as follows:

  • Size (W)62, (L)121, (H)93cm.
  • Suitable from birth.
  • Pine cot with antique finish.
  • 3-position mattress base that allows easy access.
  • Teething rails.
  • 1 drop side.
  • Mattress not included - requires mattress size (L)117, (W)54cm.
  • Complies with BS EN 716.
  • Weight 25.9kg.
  • Home delivery is currently sitting at approximately 14 days, or you can collect it from your local Argos if they have it in stock, and you'll need to deploy your self assembly skills when it arrives.

White Pine Crib £29.50 @ John Lewis

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 3 July, 2010 at 10:00 am

White Pine Crib £29.50 @ John LewisThis crib from John Lewis is a rather delicious deal to start the day with!

Not everyone wants to have a moses basket - I have a couple of friends who really couldn't stand them, they didn't like all the 'frills and faff'.

But if you don't want a moses basket and the thought of putting your tiny baby down to sleep in a HUGE cot bed from day one what are your other options?

This John Lewis Max Crib could be just the thing you're looking for! Measuring L93 x W47 x H79cm it's little enough not to to be too enormous for a newborn and big enough for them not to grow out of it in the blink of an eye.

Made of pine and painted white (the end panels are MDF), the design is simple and elegant and utterly perfect if you don't like 'frills and faff', and John Lewis have reduced it from £59.00 down to £29.50 so the price is pretty perfect too!

Standard delivery is £3, free if you arrange to collect from a John Lewis store OR if your order is over £30.  So you can either buy a mattress for your crib too to tip your order into the free delivery bracket or order something little - Zobobump over at HUKD suggested adding John Lewis Value White Tealights, Pack of 50 (Product code - 78781021), now that's PlayPennies thinking!

Thanks to Zobobump over at HUKD for spotting this deal
