Celebaby: Welcome To The World Samuel Garner Affleck

Samuel Garner Affleck

HURRAH!!!  Another celebrity baby arrives safe and sound into the world; Samuel Garner Affleck , first son and third child to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, made his grand entry into our crazy world on Monday.

Samuel, it seems, had a narrow escape when it came to his name.  Jennifer revealed earlier in her pregnancy that his sisters - Violet, six, and Seraphina, three - were choosing names for him and potentials on their list included Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse.  Peter Pan and Smee were also possibilities - I wonder whether Samuel was their choice too and where they got it from if it was.

Either way, I'm sure he'll be much happier being called 'Sam' rather than Captain Hook!

Natalie Wants A Sibling For Eliza

Following on from the news that Natalie Cassidy is back together with her ex-fiancee comes the revelation that she intends to be pregnant with their second child by the end of the year (please don't let her call a boy 'Henry' or 'Higgins'!!)

Her family, as you can imagine, are less than impressed with 1) her taking him back 2) considering getting married as previously planned and 3) intending to have another child with him.

To a degree I can understand it - she wants Eliza to have a sibling with the same father and for the age gap not to be too big; people DO change and turn their lives around, why not Adam Cottrell?

There's nothing to say he won't and that it won't all turn out happily ever after.  I must confess though, playing it all out in public (again) might not be the cleverest move not because of the potential for proverbial egg on faces, but because of the additional pressure it puts on the whole situation.

But hey, maybe it'll just as easily work the other way too - knowing there's every chance of even the most minor slip-up being caught on paparazzi camera may well just keep Adam on the straight and sober narrow!

Celebaby: U-Turn For Natalie Cassidy

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 25 February, 2012 at 10:00 am

Celebaby: U-Turn For Natalie CassidyWe all know how Natalie Cassidy's life has gone ever since she graced our screens as chubby trumpet player, Sonia, in EastEnders.  She's known just as much for her yo-yoing weight as she is for playing the aforementioned soap character and towards the end of 2010 she had her first baby - Eliza.

Engaged to Eliza's dad, Adam Cottrell, and back to looking fab' after having her daughter, everything looked to be going well for our Nat' - until May of last year when it all went belly-up.

Adam lost the plot and became aggressive during a row at the couple's home and was ultimately charged with two counts of assault by beating and two counts of criminal damage.

The relationship was, understandably OFF!  At the time, Natalie said that Eliza, eight months old at the time, was her main concern and that she had no idea what the future held for herself and Adam, who was sentenced to 120 hours community service and not allowed, under the terms of a restraining order, to contact Natalie.

Almost a year on, Natalie has decided to take Adam back and give him a second chance.  However, not it seems because he's cleaned his act up - he had/has a drinking problem - but because he relapsed and was discovered drunk in a garden.

"He was found…drunk in an old lady’s garden. It was a frightening relapse.  He had stopped drinking and thought he could do it on his own – but he can’t.  If anything violent were to happen again it would absolutely be it if he went out and had a drink again I would address it.

I know 100 per cent that if it carries on and he continues doing what he’s doing then I know we’re going to be very happy."

I know several people who drank far too much on a daily basis, made the choice one day to stop and just DID.  They've been tea-total ever since and I really hope this is the case with Adam for Natalie.  I'd really like to see her faith in Adam justified, rather than thrown back in her face.

Celebaby: Cassidy, Carey And Cannon

Celebaby: Cassidy, Carey And CannonNatalie Cassidy

Natalie Cassidy has discovered the effects of the stress diet.

Your life torn apart and splashed across the papers for all the nation to read, fear for your own safety and that of your daughter is all you need to rapidly lose three stone of baby weight.

Poor Natalie, I know she's not everyone's cup o'cha but I must confess to having a soft spot for her.  She thought she'd found true love with Adam Cottrell but it all went sour a couple of months ago when he turned violent.

"I wanted me and Adam to be a family forever. I wouldn’t have chosen to have a baby with someone if I didn’t think it would be forever," she told the Daily Mail recently.

Adam Cottrell pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage and is now subject to a restraining order; he still sees his daughter, Eliza, under supervision.

Despite everything that's happened, Natalie feels it's important that her daughter's father maintains a role in her life and upbringing.

Nick Cannon suggests more babies

It's all been a bit quiet on the Mariah Carey front since the twins arrived, but Nick Cannon (Mr Mariah Carey) has recently been speaking about the new additions to their family.

He says that although they're still small, they're already showing their personalities.

"My son Roc lives up to his name. He’s a tough guy. He’s already crawling. And then my daughter, she’s just a diva."

Crawling..? Already? At no more than three months old...?  I don't THINK so!

He also spoke about the possibility of adding more babies to the Carey-Cannon clan.

"I want some, but I think my wife’s done. I tried to say, ‘Yo, let’s go for another round!’ and she’s like, ‘I’ll kill you!"

So that's that then, as we all know who wears the trousers in THAT household!

Celebaby: Things Go Belly Up For Natalie Cassidy

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 25 May, 2011 at 10:00 am

Celebaby: Things Go Belly Up For Natalie CassidyWhilst Natalie Cassidy post-baby bump has gone down, her love life has gone belly-up!

Poor Natalie; just when it seemed that she had everything all sorted and settled.

She's back to a slim size 10, her career looks to be in good shape too and she was engaged to be married and in her own words 'blissfully happy'.  Now reports in the papers confirm that her fiancee, Adam Cottrell, has been arrested and charged with two counts of assault by beating and two counts of criminal damage.

Apparently he completely lost control during a row on Sunday night, he started smashing furniture and then got physical.  He left their family home in Hertfordshire and Natalie called the police.

This sort of thing makes me so cross; how DARE he!  I don't care what provocation there might have been, there's just no excuse for lashing out and hitting someone - whatever your gender.

Their daughter, Eliza, is eight months old now and Natalie is, of course, said to be devestated by what happened at the weekend.

A friend, has said, "Her main concern is the welfare of her daughter and, for now, she just wants to keep a low profile and get on with her life until this has all been resolved. She doesn’t know what the future holds for herself and Adam."

Whatever it is, I hope Mr Cottrell is suitably punished by the magistrates when he appears before them on 31 May.

Celebaby: Natalie Wants Twins and Halle Loses Nahla

Celebaby: Natalie Wants Twins and Halle Loses NahlaIt's all go in the world of Celebaby today! Natalie Cassidy wants more kids already and Halle Berry loses her daughter, Nahla.

Natalie Wants Twins Next

So Natalie Cassidy has been well and truly bitten by the baby bug.

It's easy to get sucked into the romance of it all when your first one is a little angel - that's how I've got two with birthdays on the same day a year apart *sigh*

She'd like Eliza to have a brother or sister to play with, "I'd love Eliza to have a brother or sister quite soon to play with. We'd like to have twins next but you couldn't leave one on their own, so I'd have to have four."

Four!? Three's enough, trust me I know!

Nahla...Where ARRRRE YOOOOU!??

Halle Berry has 'fessed that she lost her daughter for a few seconds in a department store.

That's happened to me with my youngest a couple of years ago and it was a heart-stopping minute or two!

Halle revealed this little drama she had with her daughter during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, "Talk about sweating. And you just freak out for about 30 seconds. I came undone. I think my head projected off my body," she went on to say, "and then all of a sudden, I looked down at a price tag or something, and she toddled off for what seemed like two seconds. The next thing I know, I looked back around and it was like, Whosh! Gone! And I said, 'Nahla? Nahla? Nahla?' Gone."

*Shudder* Even just reading this brings back the absolute panic I felt when my youngest had wandered off in John Lewis.

"My heart just started... I'm like, 'Close the store! Shut the door! My daughter's gone!' "She was right next to me - in a rounder of clothes where the pants were hanging. Right there. And after I became a lunatic and totally embarrassed myself, she stuck her head out and was like, 'Hi.'"

KIDS! Who'd have 'em!?

Celebaby: 'Ello Eliza

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 12 October, 2010 at 10:00 am

Celebaby: 'Ello Eliza

I've been keeping an eye out for the arrival of Natalie Cassidy's baby - it had to be soon!

I was in Tesco the other day mooching around the magazines when there she was on the cover of one trashy horrible piece of gossip tat with the caption screaming at me that she'd had a little girl.

HOW had I missed this event!?

A quick bit of digging around revealed that I hadn't dropped the ball at all - phew! - rather the news had been kept under wraps for a while until that all important OK! Exclusive deal had been signed and sealed.

The photoshoot has been done and young Eliza Beatrice will be gracing the covers of OK! any minute now, if not already - I'll have a look when I'm out and about today.

Apparently the money deal was just too good to turn down - yeah, I've had a few of those hahahaa!  Hey, not THAT kind of money deal! Wash your thoughts out *sigh*

What do you think of the name Eliza?

I rather like it! It just seems perfect for the daughter of a good ol' 'Landan gerl'.

I can't help but think of My Fair Lady though when Audrey Hepburn (who plays Eliza, if you didn't know) says, "I washed me face an' 'ands before I come I did!"

There isn't going to be a fitness DVD either, Natalie has said, "I want to be the woman who gets the exercise DVD for Christmas, not the woman who's in the DVD!"

Celebaby: Natalie Cassidy Spotlight!

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 17 July, 2010 at 11:00 am

In today's Celebaby Natalie Cassidy takes centre stage.

The last few weeks for Natalie

Celebaby: Natalie Cassidy Spotlight!Natalie Cassidy is in the last trimester of her first pregnancy and in the last few weeks she's been popping up in the papers.

I really like her - well, I like what I think I know about her anyway - she seems very down to earth, she's been subjected to more than her fair share of abuse at the hands of the public and the tabloids, but she still comes out smiling.

She doesn't come rolling out of pubs blind drunk, she's transparent when it comes to the struggles she has with her weight, she's got a strong work ethic and a FAR better role model for a lot of girls than other celebrity females I could mention!

She's been having a busy time of it lately, at the beginning of the month she took on the role of DES (designated driver) for her friends when they attended a Kings Of Leon concert at London's Hyde Park.

Some people were less than complimentary about her appearance, but what do they want? Her to be dressed up in high heels and a size 8 despite being 6 and a half months gone at this point? Please!

Celebaby: Natalie Cassidy Spotlight!Last weekend the summer decided to pay us a visit before it ran away again (apparently the 'heatwave' is due to return to our shores next week, hurrah!) and Natalie blazed a trail for summer pregnant women everywhere - she took a trip to the beach and had the 'audacity' to wear just a bikini; shock horror!

PLEASE! Kudos to her, because I was never brave enough and photographers weren't going to be hiding in the bushes waiting to snap my photo!

But her coup de grace (as far as I'm concerned) and should silence the body critics came when she attended the Karate Kid premier in London this week.

Celebaby: Natalie Cassidy Spotlight! She sashayed down the red carpet looking UTTERLY stunning and totally glam'  in a figure-hugging black dress and high heels. I think she looks fantastic!

On the thorny subject of her pregnancy diet, Natalie said, "I can't get enough of chicken, mayonnaise and sweetcorn sandwiches! But I've been eating healthily - I've not been noshing down four cream cakes in one sitting and claiming I'm eating for two."

And when asked whether there was a post-baby exercise DVD in the offing, she said, "I couldn’t just shove my baby off somewhere because I want to lose weight, I want to be a proper mum."

With just a few weeks left to go, in her usual frank manner, Natalie has revealed that the prospect of giving birth is a scary one, "I'm absolutely bricking it. Adam and I are booked on an antenatal course next month. I reckon they'll tell me absolutely everything and I'll come away feeling even more petrified."

I'm afraid so Natalie, especially if you're shown around the labour unit and hear screaming coming from other rooms like I did!
