MaByLand Overnight Changing Bag Set £25.34 @ Amazon

MaByLand Overnight Changing Bag Set £25.34 @ AmazonAmazon have a MaByLand Overnight Changing Bag on sale for 51% off the RRP of £51.99. It’s reduced by £26.65 to £25.34.

I don’t think I’ll ever stop being surprised at the exuberant prices of nappy bags. They just seem so overly expensive, when there are fab options available at much less. For me £51 for a nappy bag is too much, but £25 is much closer to my comfort zone.

This particular piece of baby-equipment gold comes with a detachable changing mat with pockets, inbuilt bottle warmer packet and two detachable clear multi-purpose PVC bags. It also has an adjustable and detachable shoulder strap and has been fully safety tested – not sure what for: you don’t carry the baby in it!

According to the description it is spacious and has lots of different sized pockets, and is made from an easy to wipe clean waterproof material. There’s only one reviewer who commented that the changing mat looked larger on the picture than it was in reality.

If these things influence your decisions, the MaByLand Overnight Changing Bag Set was a finalist in ghte Practical Parenting and Pregnancy Awards and won a silver award in the BizzieBaby awards for 2010-2011 too.

Babymule Changing Bag Review

Babymule Changing Bag Review

My first thought on the Babymule changing bag was that it’s just too big for me. There are too many pockets and I’ll spend my whole day digging around it to find things, because I have the organisational skills of a gnat – when it comes to nappy bags, anyway.

But within a couple of days the Babymule really grew on me.  Especially when I realised that I could use one of the compartments as a laptop bag, negating the need to carry one with me.  I had a day trip organised to London shortly after I started using the Babymule and there again, this fantastic shoulder-bag-come-backpack was a godsend.

Not only was there enough space for a whole day’s worth of reusable nappies, wipes, jumper, and toys for the train journey but also a mid-sized camera and a laptop, as well as my make-up bag and purse.  The bonus of this was that when I was carrying my daughter, I was able to clip in the shoulder straps, and carry this as a backpack, which was wonderful. (I also remember when we used a sling with our daughter, I often bemoaned the fact that there weren’t any backpack nappy bags, so I’m thrilled to finally own one!)

Included in the changing bag are a neoprene bottle warmer/cooler, a wet bag, a changing pouch for a few nappies or wipes and an easy clean changing mat. There’s a front pocket, a side pocket with a key ring, two large compartments with internal pockets. There’s a hidden back pouch in which you can store the backpack straps, meaning the bag looks tidy when not used as a backpack as well as hidden buggy clips with adjustable straps. You can watch the video to see how it all fits in together.

I love the way it looks too. It’s a very pretty bag, but not in a baby-ish way. The only negative I have found is that the main compartments don’t unzip all the way,  so you have to work through a relatively narrow opening, which I struggle with as it means I have to unpack the big things to get to the little things at the bottom.

The BabyMule is a fantastic overnight baby bag though, and awesome if you have a mobile office on the go as it’s big enough for a large sized laptop too.

Shopper Changing Bag £10 @ Mothercare

Shopper Changing Bag £10 @ Mothercare

There’s 71% off this ‘last chance’ shopper style changing bag from Mothercare, reducing it from £34.99 to £10.

I’ve bemoaned the price of changing bags a few times in the past – probably because we’ve been through a few in our time, and we rarely find one that’s perfect for our needs. They tend to simply be too big, more often than not, which makes it chaotic to find anything in them. I eventually used a sports tog bag, as it was easier to keep everything in one place and I hated spending ages routing around different pockets looking for things.

Which probably makes this shopper style bag quite a good idea – it’s all in there, with a few interior pockets for your cell phone and car keys and a touch of lippy, it looks like there’ll be enough room to keep your shopping too, without needing to carry extra bags.

The bag comes with a padded change mat and a mess bag – probably what we’d call a wet bag in nappy land – and an insulated bottle holder.

There’s also a padded shoulder strap which is a nice little touch, as having bag straps cutting into your flesh is never fun when you’re already lugging half the world around with you.

ZPM Junior Nappy Pack Changing Bag Review

ZPM Junior Nappy Pack Changing Bag Review

I don't know about you, but we've gone through loads of changing bags in the last 18 months. From the super-duper massive one from a leading pharmacy, which was simply too big and too heavy for a baby-wearing mum, to a tog bag, to simply shoving a nappy and some wipes into my handbag, we've seriously gone from bag to bag as we tested them all out, and tried out new nappy bags to suit our changing needs.

Now I'm more comfortable with going out with a baby, I realise that for a trip to the shops, lunch or a play date, I do not, in fact, need one of everything and the kitchen sink, you know... in case.

We now use the ZPM junior nappy bag. A spotty bit of fabulousness.

Although, to be honest, I'm not a fan of the spots, that is its singular drawback. For the rest, this nappy bag is perfect.

It is actually meant to be a bit of a weekender, overnight or on-the-go nappy bag, and I've tried it in all three those guises, as well as simply staying at home.

When we're home, it hangs on a hook next to the changing table (i.e. bed) and from there we can access everything we need.

An excellent feature of this nappy bag is the 360 degree swivel hook, great for public rest rooms, as well as a great changing mat. There are pouches on the side, I guess for bottles or jars, and the interior holds an entire small bag of nappies, or about six to nine reuseables.

The see-through zip pockets are great for such items as keys, cards and other would-be-in-the-handbag items, such as make-up. The second pocket I use for nappy cream and other travel sized baby toiletries.

The best part of these nappy bags, in my estimation, are the two waterproof, refillable dispenser pockets for wet wipes and nappy bags. I am chronically forgetful when it comes to wet wipes and more often than not go out without them, so having them already in the bag means I now rarely end up without.

All in, I think these are the best nappy bags around, especially since they now come with a shoulder strap for easier carrying, and cost under £25.

The ZPM Junior changing bag is a definite recommend from me!

Spotty Print Changing Bag £3.98 @ Tesco

Spotty Print Changing Bag £3.98 @ Tesco

The Spotty Print Changing Bag at Tesco is only £3.98, which is a £6.01 saving.

I've always been really surprised at the cost of nappy bags – with few of the nicer ones retailing for less than £100. So this bag at £3.98 is a pretty good price.

We have a small nappy bag – big enough for two reusable nappies (so about six disposables), wet wipes, a change of clothes, a few snacks and my camera, phone and money. If we're only going out for a couple of hours, that's really all we need! I hated lugging a massive bag around with me.

This Spotty bag is smaller than your average new born's nappy bag, which really just means that it's for those mums who've figured out that they don't actually need the kitchen sink every time they leave the house.
If you're the same you'll love this one, I think. It has an adjustable shoulder strap and easy wipe clean lining. It comes with a changing mat and a messy bag (I'm guessing that's a wet bag, really).

Most of the reviewers who didn't like it said it was too small, one even bought it for his daughter's doll pram (which she loved). Another pointed out that it was a good bag for breastfeeding mums as you don't need space for all the bottle feeding paraphernalia.

Good points for it included that its pattern is suitable for men and women to carry, and that it's fashionable, easy to clean and lightweight.

Overall, for the price, it looks an excellent deal to me, and received 8.2 out of 10 from the reviewers.

Ju Ju Be Nappy Bag Review

Ju Ju Be Nappy Bag Review

Over the last year, I have used four nappy bags, and the Ju Ju Be All Navy Berry (£84.99) is the one that has stuck.

I love that it's plain coloured - although other colours and patterns are also available - and unisex, so although I might sometimes long for the cutesy bags I see other mums lugging around, even my husband is happy to use this one.

The Ju Ju Be nappy bag is a machine-washable, anti-bacterial baby changing bag which comes with a separate changing mat, memory foam filled shoulder straps, metal features and insulated bottle – or in my case 'stuff' - holders.

The best thing about this Ju Ju Be All bag is the bright satin silver lining which improves visibility – no more peering into the dark interiors of a bottomless pit! Another favourite is the waterproof zipped cover – perfect for storing documents or a notebook. I also found the mesh pockets extremely useful for actually finding things.

As this Ju Ju Be looks quite compact compared to some others, it has a surprising amount of space, which includes a parent’s pouch with space for sunglasses, mobile phone, comes with a stretchy key leash and additional storage for change and make-up.

Magnets close the nappy bag with a snap, rather than noisy, baby-waking velcro.
