Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari £9.99 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari £9.99 @ Mothercare

Mothercare are selling the Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari Set for £9.99 instead of £19.99. It’s available for home delivery at £4.95, but you can get it in store for free.  The same thing is £24.99 at Amazon right now.

This is quite a sweet looking set from Mega Bloks, which comes a figurine of the zoo keeper, an elephant, lion, two penguins, a monkey, a tree and a few other bits and pieces, making up 25 pieces all together.

With the additional bits you can build trees and habitats for the exotic animals.

I’m not entirely sure how compatible these blocks are with other blocks such as Lego, or even other Mega Bloks as these look way smaller than the Bloks we have, but it is suitable for children over 3 years, so I’m guessing it has some small parts.

January Sales Baby Bargains

by Lynley Oram in Features on 19 January, 2012 at 1:00 pm

January Sales Baby BargainsIt is January. You probably already noticed that. Hard to miss it when all the telltale signs are there. Grey skies, dark afternoons and empty bank accounts. Another clue is all the signs up announcing January sales. Although that's not quite as much an indicator as it used to be. Nowadays, the January sales seem to start in December.

However, here we are coming into the tail end of the sales, and anything that is left is going to go bargain basement. Also, there are stores that do GASP start their sales in January, and others that refresh the stock in the sale section each week. Here's a roundup of the big retailers of baby stuff who are still running sales. Boots, for example, have finished their sales so we've not included them here. Likewise, JoJo Maman Bebe still has its sale section, but the winter sale with up to 75% off seems to be finished now.

The same with the Mothercare Clearance shop, although the usual reductions you'll find year round are in there so it is still worth having a look. Such as the 50% Off Top Products section.

3 in 1 Trike £34.99 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 15 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

3 in 1 Trike £34.99 @ Mothercare

The 3-in-1 trike at Mothercare has been marked down from £69.99 to only £34.99 which is a pretty good price for this weird, futuristic little gizmo. It is ideal for babies or beginner riders and will grow with your child.

The 3 in 1 trike changes over three stages to grow with the child. In the first stage it is a parent push trike, in the second stage it is a parent guided trike and in the third stage it is child powered. The removable shade canopy adjusts to any age (and looks bizarre) and the tyres are durable and designed to be quite.

The seat is adjustable to four positions and the handle is both detachable and adjustable too. The push handle lets you control direction with just one hand and the little one is strapped in with a five point safety harness. The pedals are non slip and the footrest can be folded away. It even has a beverage holder!

Children's Furniture 30% Off @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 8 January, 2012 at 8:00 am

Children's Furniture 30% Off @ Mothercare

The Mothercare sale continues and there’s currently 30% off furniture for children’s rooms. Delivery is free to store, although for larger items you may just want to pay the £4.95 for orders under £50 – or add something else to your order.

Kitting up for a child can be incredibly expensive, and honestly I’ve never understood the concept of a ‘nursery’ as such – spend a fortune to two – four years later spend another fortune on redecorating? Not me thanks. I’m just too tight-fisted for that! At some point, however, I suppose it will become necessary, and when that time comes for us, I’ll be glad for offers such as this one.

Starting at £42 instead of £60  for an antique Mothercare Bedside Table, prices range through to the Hannington Wardrobe, or the Primrose Wardrobe, both of which were £400 and are now reduced to £280, there’s almost everything you need to furnish a room.

There are a few beds to be had in the sale too, and the Jamestown 3ft Bed in White is reduced from £180 to £126 and comes with free delivery.  You need to buy a mattress separately, but in my experience, the ‘free’ mattress you get with beds is usually pretty rubbish anyway.

Happy decorating!

Up To Half Price Off On Maternity Clothes @ Mothercare

Up To Half Price Off On Maternity Clothes @ Mothercare

There’s up to half price off maternity wear in Mothercare’s sale.

I must admit, I’m about the least stylish pregnant mama on the block, because I cannot get myself to hand over cash or card on clothes I’m only going to be wearing for a very short period of time. I once had to pay £200 for a bridesmaid’s dress and then an additional £100 to have it tailored to fit my 7 month belly and it still stings when I think of it! Especially since it now hangs in my wardrobe unable to be worn without being tailored again!

Anyway, those are extravagances, and with the 50% off sale at Mothercare, there’s a much more affordable way to dress.

They have Leggings from £11, Bootcut Jean with Microfibre Over the Bump Band for £22.50 and Nursing Tops from just £5 (although that one is nearer 75% off.

You’ll also find a Maxi Dress for £10.80 and Skirts from £13.50.

Delivery is free for all orders over £50, collection in store is free and delivery is £4.95 if your total is under £50.

Kitchen Toys (Better Than) Half Price @ Mothercare

Kitchen Toys (Better Than) Half Price @ Mothercare

Mothercare’s sale has some pretty cool toy sets and gift ideas to fill up the cupboard in preparation for the year’s birthday parties.  For example, the ELC Food Mixer with accessories is reduced from £20 to £10 and the Bosch Breakfast set is reduced from £40 to £15 –not bad at all!

The ELC Food Mixer set with accessories is great for baking fun without the mess. It includes a ‘working’ play food mixer, scales, rolling pin, jug, muffins, spatula, mixing prongs, measuring cups and a mixing bowl. It also comes with a muffin tray, complete with for muffins. Yum yum.

The Bosch Breakfast play set consists of a kettle, toaster, coffee machine, two plates, two cups, two saucers, two knives, forks, spoons, teaspoons, two slices of toast and a fried egg

Mothercare is offering free delivery on all orders over £50, or you can collect in-store which is free of charge – but there is a waiting period: 5 January at my local store, if I order these today. Alternatively just ring your nearest and ask if they have it in stock, and if not, where does. We did that just before Christmas looking for something else and it saved us two trips to finding it!

Two Light And Sound Musical Buggy Bars for £13.20 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 2 November, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Two Light And Sound Musical Buggy Bars for £13.20 @ Mothercare

Okay, this is slightly complicated, I think, but I’ll see if I can explain it as best I can. The Light and Sound Musical Buggy Bar was £24, but is now half price at £12. It is also on a ‘Buy One Get One Half Price’ offer, meaning you can get a second Light and Sound Musical Buggy Bar for £6. Apparently, and I haven’t been able to test this, but apparently you can also get a further £4.80 off by adding the code F4DC to the promotions code box before you check out. This means you end up paying £13.20 for two Musical Buggy Bars – excluding delivery, so you’ll have to pick it up in store.

A musical trip out for you and a friend

  • Discount: £4.80
  • Promotions Code: F4DC
  • Expires: Unknown

What’s all the fuss about? Well, the Light and Sound Musical Buggy Bar is a musical buggy bar with a light-up keyboard, drums, cybals and so on. It can also be used for playing on the floor or the highchair.

It requires 3AA batteries, and is suitable from 3 months old.

Rosebud Dolls Cottage £15 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 29 October, 2011 at 11:00 am

Rosebud Dolls Cottage £15 @ MothercareThe lovely Rosebud Dolls Cottage is on offer at Mothercare at the moment – reduced from £50 to a fantastic £15, that’s an amazing 70% off. As you can imagine, it’s flown off the virtual shelves as is no longer available online, but it is still available in store and with £35 off, it’s certainly worth a call to your local store to see if they have it in stock.

This Rosebud Dolls Cottage is a smaller version of the massive dolls house, but for those of us with smaller space, it’s an ideal size at 52.5cm length, 41.5cm width and 25cm high.

It comes with a range of classic furniture, including a bed, toilet, chairs, table, a sofa, a large floor standing lamp, a bath and two people.

Oh, and a little heads up: if it’s still marked as £25 in your store, ask them to scan it and it should come up as £15. Even so, £25 is a pretty good price too.

Bumbo And Tray £29.99 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 20 October, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Bumbo And Tray £29.99 @ Mothercare

The Bumbo Baby Sitter and Play Tray set in red is down from £39.99 to only £29.99 at Mothercare. This product is usually very expensive, although I am not entirely sure why, so this seems like a pretty good deal for fans of the range.

As soon as baby can support his or her head the Bumbo baby sitter helps them to sit upright. The Bumbo is suitable for babies from 4-12 months old weighing in at 9-22lbs. It is easy to clean, brightly coloured, and many mums swear by them.

I never bought one of these even though I did toy with the idea for a while. The thing is, quite a few people said that they tipped over way too easily, while their babies were in them, and that they weren’t very safe. I think it was a 50/50 split between people who loved them and people who didn’t.

Anyway, if you are a fan of these, then you’ll like this discounted price on a Bumbo with a play tray included.

Mothercare And ELC Promotional Code: 20% Off

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 28 September, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Mothercare And ELC Promotional Code: 20% Off
Use this Mothercare promotional code to get 20% off your order. It works for ELC items too. That's a nice little discount if you need to pick up any items from either store. And let's face it, you're going to shop there at least once in a while if you've got young children.  Unfortunately it doesn't work on items that are already reduced in the sale.

Click here to use your 20% Mothercare promotional code

  • Discount: 20%
  • Promotional code: BEEY
  • Expires: 30th December 2011

To use this code, you’ll need to go through the checkout process. If you haven’t already signed up, you’ll need to do so. Or, if you are then just log in. When you get to the final page of the checkout process, before you confirm the order, enter the code in the Promotional Code box.

There's no minimum spend, so I tested it out on a tub of acrylic paint, for £1. The code worked just fine and knocked 20p off the overall price. The standard delivery charge is £4.95, but you can choose to collect in store.

ELC Wooden Garage £25 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 28 September, 2011 at 7:00 pm

ELC Wooden Garage £25 @ Mothercare

There’s a rather generous 50% off the ELC Wooden Garage at Mothercare right now.

I’ve seen the ELC Wooden Garage at a couple of the mum and tot groups in our area lately, and must say they’re rather lovely and apart from the fact that they generally cause a bit of fighting between the kids who want a go, it is a toy that pretty much always has attention in the playgroups.

The giant garage has both entry and exit ramps – but explain that to a two year old – and a wind up multi-storey lift. There’s a helipad too, for those VIP visitors and conveniently and completely impractically for anyone who actually has a driver’s  licence, two petrol pumps at the bottom.

The Wooden Garage is politicallyl correct with well signed disabled parking bays, although no parent and child parking seems to be available.

Included in the set are a helicopter, a car and, of course, the petrol pumps, but you can buy a whole range of vehicles and accessories separately.

Up To 50% Off @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 23 September, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Up To 50% Off @ Mothercare

There’s up to 50% off a huge range of stock at Mothercare at the moment, and delivery is still free for orders over £50, or £4.95 for orders under.

It might be a bit of the wrong season, but I just love this 100% cotton Mr Bump T-shirt with its Mind The Bump slogan in the maternity section.

There are some great discounts on nursery items too, like the Kingston Changing Unit which now has £150 of and is selling for £150 – it’s still pricey, but if you want to buy new, it’s a great price for sure.

The children’s clothing department has some lovely deals – like the Gruffalo Pyjamas for sizes 18 months to six years, half price at £9.

Christmas is coming and it’s never too early to start saving money on it, so the toys section should probably be your first stop, with 50% off things like the Happyland Country Crossing Train for £19, a fab little baby gift, the Chicco Fun Saxophone Rattle is reduced by 70% to £2.39 and My 1st Christmas Stocking for just £3.

I’m sure you can get lost in the Mothercare sale for ages, as there’s so much to choose from!

Four Piece Mummy & Daddy Set £6 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 22 September, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Four Piece Mummy & Daddy Set £6 @ Mothercare

A completely adorable four piece set with an “I love Mummy and Daddy” design, this would make a really cute buy for a pregnant friend or your own little darling. It has been marked down from £12 to £6 and you can get it delivered for free to your local store.

The four piece kit is available in pink and blue so you can gender adjust it (which I loathe but hey), and you can get them in a variety of different sizes – from tiny baby to newborn to six months old. The set is utterly adorable.

You get a front opening sleepsuit with “I love Mummy” embroidered to the chest, a short sleeved bodysuit with “Just like Daddy” printed on the front, a spotty hat and a bib with “I love Mummy and Daddy” printed onto the front.

If this doesn’t appeal, check out the unbelievably cute Sesame Street Romper selling for £3.90 . How cute is that?

Bobux Shoes Sale @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 18 September, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Bobux Shoes Sale @ Mothercare

There’s a range of Bobux shoes on offer at Mothercare. They’re normally around £18 but are now £12.50.

Okay, I’ve never tried the Bobux brand of shoes, but they do look rather similar in style to others we used and loved – although these are cheaper, even before the sale price.

The shoes are soft, natural leather and they have an elasticated ankle which provides a secure fit to ensure the shoes stay on – and amazingly, that really works! By some miracle, we never lost a pair of elasticated shoes, which is a bonus.

These aren’t really walker shoes, but they have suede slip-resistant soles, so should be good if your little one starts trying to walk.

There are some superbly cute shoes in the sale too – stars, flowers, hearts, cats, ladybirds, lions and frogs. They really are cute.

Baby Polar Gear On The Go Booster Seat £15.35 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 17 September, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Baby Polar Gear On The Go Booster Seat £15.35 @ Mothercare

The Baby Polar Gear On The Go Booster Seat is currently reduced from £23.99 to £15.35 at Mothercare.

I’ve mentioned before that highchairs have been my nemesis in the first years of parenting, and even now, I have a highchair at home that we paid a fortune for, used less than five times, and the only way I seem able to dispose of it is by Freecycle.

I finally got a great booster seat from Mamas and Papas, but I’ve always seen these, and think it might be a great purchase too – both for smaller babies and travel. And it doesn’t require you to find a new home for one of your chairs for a few years. Bonus.

The On the Go Booster seat is suitable for babies who can sit up unaided (the listing says 12 months, but that’s ridiculous!) to around 15 kg or four years. It’s apparently easy to wipe clean, has a 3-point safety harness, 3 adjustable straps to secure it to a dining chair, and comes with its own changing mat – which I’m sure would make a useful floor mat if you practice baby led weaning.

The Booster Seat converts to a bag with adjustable shoulder straps and weighs around 900g.

Musical Movers Choo Choo £4.99 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 September, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Musical Movers Choo Choo £4.99 @ Mothercare

There’s a whopping 66% off the Musical Movers Choo Choo toys at Mothercare. While it’s been that price for a while, it’s still a great price.  Reduced from £14.99 to £4.99, it’s a great price for a fun toy for kidlets aged nine months and over.

My daughter has a little musical train that choo choo’s it’s way around the living room, and I adore it – not least because it holds probably a good fifteen tunes, meaning it doesn’t drive me crazy quite as quickly, and is one of the few toys that I do replenish the batteries when needed.

The Leapfrog Musical Movers Choo  Choo train sings a counting song. It teaches letters, numbers, vehicle names and of course, music.

While it’s not a particularly new offer, and is at that price regularly, it’s a fab price if you’re looking for Christmas or birthday gifts under a fiver.  Postage is a rather hefty £4.95, however,  so you’re better off picking it up in store, or reserving for pick-up. (Alternative, you can pick it up at Play.com for £5.00 including postage!)

Mothercare Madrid Car Seat £39.99 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 8 September, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Mothercare Madrid Car Seat £39.99 @ Mothercare

The Mothercare Madrid car seat has been marked down from £79.99 to only £39.99 and comes with a tasty bite of free delivery too. You are saving a lovely half price off this usually very expensive car seat and it comes with its own fair share of bells and whistles too.

The Madrid combination car seat faces both forwards and backwards and can be used from birth until four years. When using it in the rearward position it will hold baby from birth until 15 months, and when in the forwards position it will work from nine months until four years.

It comes with an integral harness and can be secured by an adult seat belt as well. The harness comes with individual tensioners and the seat can recline into five positions. There is a newborn body and head support cushion included with chest and buckle pads for comfort.

The cover can be removed (although it is hand wash only, urgh) and you can buy it in pink too. Although I am not sure if you get the special price when it is in pink.

Philips Avent Bottle Set £12.77 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 17 August, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Philips Avent Bottle Set £12.77 @ Mothercare

Mothercare has marked this ace set down from £25.54 to only £12.77 which is a lovely discount for all you mums to be out there. The set is available for both instore collection and home delivery and is packed with everything you need to feed baby.

The blurb on the site talks about how unsettled and irritable behaviour in babies, known as fussing, can be reduced by using the AVENT bottle range. Clinical studies have apparently proved this. I am not entirely sure this is strictly accurate but, hey, anything for a good night’s sleep yeah?

The set includes two 125ml bottles, two 260ml bottles, two newborn teats, one newborn soother and one bottle brush. There are five different nipple flow rates available and the bottles are made from PP – a BPA free material. The teats have been designed to limit the amount of air that goes into baby’s tummy and are suitable from birth.
