Mega Bloks Play N Go Table £17.49 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 May, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Mega Bloks Play N Go Table £17.49 @ Mothercare

This is a pretty cool deal right here. Mothercare have reduced the price on the Mega Bloks table from £34.99 to £17.49 which means you are saving exactly 1p over half the original price. Ha! Tasty…

The Mega Bloks Play N Go table is ideal for little ones to get stuck in with those fun bloks and to build worlds, and realms of imagination in comfort. It can be taken anywhere you go as it is easily portable and can be folded up neatly for easy storage. These are two great selling points right there!

The Mega Bloks Play N Go table is a building platform that comes with plenty of different bloks and accessories so kids will have hours of building fun, and you don’t have to fork out even more cash on Mega Bloks so as to make the table worth your while.

You will have to pay £4.95 (ouch!) if you want home delivery, or you can arrange to collect yours instore.

Sports And Outdoor Toys 3 For 2 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 9 May, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Sports And Outdoor Toys 3 For 2 @ Mothercare

A bargain’s always a good thing, but a sale on top of a bargain is a serious double bonus and worth looking into at least. At Mothercare at the moment, there’s 3 for 2 on a selected range of outdoor and sports toys, some of which are discounted too.

I really want a sand and water table for my daughter. She has so much fun with it at a friend’s house, and it keeps them busy for at least the length of a hot cuppa.

So the red and pink sand and water tables are currently reduced from £45 to £36.  If you’re going big the Jump and Slide bouncy castle is reduced from £299.99 to £199.99 and the Fish and Count game has £1 off.

You also have the 3 for 2 offer, so you could buy the three images above: the water table for £36, the Bounce Zone for £45 and the Pop Up Tunnel and Tents for free – a saving of £30 (plus the £9 from the water table) and a spend of £81.

Not too shabby at all.  And hopefully there’ll be enough sun this year to make it worth it!

Winnie The Pooh Changing Mat £19.99 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 24 April, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Winnie The Pooh Changing Mat £19.99 @ Mothercare

This Winnie the Pooh changing mat has been reduced from £29.99 to £19.99 at Mothercare. It is a saving of 33% off the original price but still astonishingly expensive in my book!

I think that £29.99 is an astonishingly huge price for a changing mat. I paid £1 for mine. However, if you are desperate for a branded changing mat that oozes luxury and fancy paying the reduced price, then this chap is for you.

The changing mat is designed to keep your little one comfy with a soft embroidered cotton cover and a towelling liner. Baby’s skin will not be coming into contact with any cold surfaces any time soon!

The Winnie the Pooh changing mat co-ordinates with other items in the Mothercare branded nursery range so you can turn your nursery into a haven for that little bear. The cover and liner of this changing mat can both be removed for cleaning too.

I honestly wouldn’t spend this much money on a changing mat – what do you think?

Up To 50% Off HappyLand @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 April, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Up To 50% Off HappyLand @ Mothercare

Is it HappyLand sale month? Last week I found an ace deal which had a bunch of HappyLand products on sale at Amazon, now Mothercare is selling up to 50% off on their range of HappyLand products too! If you have a tot in the right age group for these toys, then you are one lucky parent!

There are three pages of HappyLand items included in the sale so you are definitely spoiled for choice. These range from things like the HappyLand Flying set which is down to £6 from £12, the HappyLand Police Station down to £8 from £16, and the HappyLand Retro Racers set that is down to £6 from £12.

The bigger sets, such as HappyLand Martian Moon Set, are not as heavily reduced as the smaller things I’ve noticed. The latter only drops by £8, while the others are almost 50% off. However, if you spend some time searching, you can get pretty much an entire set and play area for substantially less than normal.

Mothercare Online Discount Code: £5 Off £30 OrderGet £5 off baby clothing, with this Mothercare online discount code, when you spend £30.

Click here to get £5 off at Mothercare

  • Discount: £5
  • Minimum spend: £30
  • Promotional code: BU6C
  • Expires: 29th July, 2012

To use this code, select the items you want to buy. It will only work with items from the baby and toddler ranges of clothing. When you go through checkout, you'll need to sign in and confirm your delivery address and payment details. Then, on the last page before Confirmation, you'll have the chance to enter a promotional code.

I used this on two sale items, specifically three boys 'mummy and daddy' short sleeve romper 2pks. The site has a special offer on baby clothing at the moment - buy two items and get the cheapest half price. This took £6 off my order of £36, and then the discount code took another £5 off. Standard delivery with Mothercare is £4.95, so this code effectively gives you free delivery if you need it. I usually choose the option to collect from a store, which is free, as I've one nearby so it makes sense.

What Do You Need To Know To Buy A Car seat?

by Lynley Oram in Features on 8 March, 2012 at 1:00 pm

What Do You Need To Know To Buy A Car seat? Most baby items you can do without. Then there's some pieces of baby equipment that are more essential, like a pram, but you can still skimp on what you're paying. Then there are the baby items you absolutely have to have and it is worth spending as much as you can afford. Car seats are one of these. And if you've got a car, then legally you have to use a car seat. There's no two ways about it.

Does everyone? No. It shocks me but I've seen people driving around with mum holding baby in the passenger seat. I've even seen parents I know do similar things - people I know who are well educated, well off, and normally sensible.

Be that as it may, it is a legal requirement for babies, and children, and it is also necessary if you want to save them from death or injury in even a small car accident.

If you've got a budget, then allocate a fair chunk of it to a car seat. You should only ever use a second hand car seat if you know the person you're getting it from really well, so you can be 100% confident that it has never been in a car accident.

Here we look at the best way to pick out the car seat you should get, what you should look out for, and tips on getting it fitted properly.

Chicco Polly Swing Up £74.99 @ Mothercare

Mothercare has reduced the Chicco Polly Swing Up from £149.99 to £74.99 in their half price sale. This item is still very expensive but at half price, it may be worth looking at if you want one of this singing, dancing doodads.

The Chicco Polly Swing Up includes an insert for newborns which can be removed as baby grows and a five-point restraint harness. The removable entertainment control until can be used as a remote to operate the swing at a distance and there is a removable snack tray too.

Buying A Baby Buggy: What You Really Need To Know

by Lynley Oram in Features on 20 February, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Buying A Baby Buggy: What You Really Need To KnowA baby buggy, pushchair, stroller, pram. We give the device used to push little tiny people around a lot of different name. Some are not universal, as I found when I was in Canada, where they thought it was awfully cute that I called it a pram.

The thing is, when you're a first time mum, it is really hard to decide what it is you actually need. First off, what you don't want to get is a stroller. These are sometimes called a pushchair as well. But confusingly, I've also seen prams or buggies called pushchairs too.

A stroller is a mode of transportation suited to much older babies and toddlers. Definitely not for newborns.

Now that we've got that struck off the list, you're basically left with three types of buggy to choose from. Read on to find out what they are, and whether they're any use for you. Start from the beginning as some of the features you'll need to take into consideration are the same for some or all pushchairs.

Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari £9.99 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari £9.99 @ Mothercare

Mothercare are selling the Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari Set for £9.99 instead of £19.99. It’s available for home delivery at £4.95, but you can get it in store for free.  The same thing is £24.99 at Amazon right now.

This is quite a sweet looking set from Mega Bloks, which comes a figurine of the zoo keeper, an elephant, lion, two penguins, a monkey, a tree and a few other bits and pieces, making up 25 pieces all together.

With the additional bits you can build trees and habitats for the exotic animals.

I’m not entirely sure how compatible these blocks are with other blocks such as Lego, or even other Mega Bloks as these look way smaller than the Bloks we have, but it is suitable for children over 3 years, so I’m guessing it has some small parts.

January Sales Baby Bargains

by Lynley Oram in Features on 19 January, 2012 at 1:00 pm

January Sales Baby BargainsIt is January. You probably already noticed that. Hard to miss it when all the telltale signs are there. Grey skies, dark afternoons and empty bank accounts. Another clue is all the signs up announcing January sales. Although that's not quite as much an indicator as it used to be. Nowadays, the January sales seem to start in December.

However, here we are coming into the tail end of the sales, and anything that is left is going to go bargain basement. Also, there are stores that do GASP start their sales in January, and others that refresh the stock in the sale section each week. Here's a roundup of the big retailers of baby stuff who are still running sales. Boots, for example, have finished their sales so we've not included them here. Likewise, JoJo Maman Bebe still has its sale section, but the winter sale with up to 75% off seems to be finished now.

The same with the Mothercare Clearance shop, although the usual reductions you'll find year round are in there so it is still worth having a look. Such as the 50% Off Top Products section.

3 in 1 Trike £34.99 @ Mothercare

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 15 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

3 in 1 Trike £34.99 @ Mothercare

The 3-in-1 trike at Mothercare has been marked down from £69.99 to only £34.99 which is a pretty good price for this weird, futuristic little gizmo. It is ideal for babies or beginner riders and will grow with your child.

The 3 in 1 trike changes over three stages to grow with the child. In the first stage it is a parent push trike, in the second stage it is a parent guided trike and in the third stage it is child powered. The removable shade canopy adjusts to any age (and looks bizarre) and the tyres are durable and designed to be quite.

The seat is adjustable to four positions and the handle is both detachable and adjustable too. The push handle lets you control direction with just one hand and the little one is strapped in with a five point safety harness. The pedals are non slip and the footrest can be folded away. It even has a beverage holder!

Children's Furniture 30% Off @ Mothercare

Children's Furniture 30% Off @ Mothercare

The Mothercare sale continues and there’s currently 30% off furniture for children’s rooms. Delivery is free to store, although for larger items you may just want to pay the £4.95 for orders under £50 – or add something else to your order.

Kitting up for a child can be incredibly expensive, and honestly I’ve never understood the concept of a ‘nursery’ as such – spend a fortune to two – four years later spend another fortune on redecorating? Not me thanks. I’m just too tight-fisted for that! At some point, however, I suppose it will become necessary, and when that time comes for us, I’ll be glad for offers such as this one.

Starting at £42 instead of £60  for an antique Mothercare Bedside Table, prices range through to the Hannington Wardrobe, or the Primrose Wardrobe, both of which were £400 and are now reduced to £280, there’s almost everything you need to furnish a room.

There are a few beds to be had in the sale too, and the Jamestown 3ft Bed in White is reduced from £180 to £126 and comes with free delivery.  You need to buy a mattress separately, but in my experience, the ‘free’ mattress you get with beds is usually pretty rubbish anyway.

Happy decorating!

Up To Half Price Off On Maternity Clothes @ Mothercare

Up To Half Price Off On Maternity Clothes @ Mothercare

There’s up to half price off maternity wear in Mothercare’s sale.

I must admit, I’m about the least stylish pregnant mama on the block, because I cannot get myself to hand over cash or card on clothes I’m only going to be wearing for a very short period of time. I once had to pay £200 for a bridesmaid’s dress and then an additional £100 to have it tailored to fit my 7 month belly and it still stings when I think of it! Especially since it now hangs in my wardrobe unable to be worn without being tailored again!

Anyway, those are extravagances, and with the 50% off sale at Mothercare, there’s a much more affordable way to dress.

They have Leggings from £11, Bootcut Jean with Microfibre Over the Bump Band for £22.50 and Nursing Tops from just £5 (although that one is nearer 75% off.

You’ll also find a Maxi Dress for £10.80 and Skirts from £13.50.

Delivery is free for all orders over £50, collection in store is free and delivery is £4.95 if your total is under £50.

Kitchen Toys (Better Than) Half Price @ Mothercare

Mothercare’s sale has some pretty cool toy sets and gift ideas to fill up the cupboard in preparation for the year’s birthday parties.  For example, the ELC Food Mixer with accessories is reduced from £20 to £10 and the Bosch Breakfast set is reduced from £40 to £15 –not bad at all!

The ELC Food Mixer set with accessories is great for baking fun without the mess. It includes a ‘working’ play food mixer, scales, rolling pin, jug, muffins, spatula, mixing prongs, measuring cups and a mixing bowl. It also comes with a muffin tray, complete with for muffins. Yum yum.

The Bosch Breakfast play set consists of a kettle, toaster, coffee machine, two plates, two cups, two saucers, two knives, forks, spoons, teaspoons, two slices of toast and a fried egg

Mothercare is offering free delivery on all orders over £50, or you can collect in-store which is free of charge – but there is a waiting period: 5 January at my local store, if I order these today. Alternatively just ring your nearest and ask if they have it in stock, and if not, where does. We did that just before Christmas looking for something else and it saved us two trips to finding it!

Two Light And Sound Musical Buggy Bars for £13.20 @ Mothercare

Okay, this is slightly complicated, I think, but I’ll see if I can explain it as best I can. The Light and Sound Musical Buggy Bar was £24, but is now half price at £12. It is also on a ‘Buy One Get One Half Price’ offer, meaning you can get a second Light and Sound Musical Buggy Bar for £6. Apparently, and I haven’t been able to test this, but apparently you can also get a further £4.80 off by adding the code F4DC to the promotions code box before you check out. This means you end up paying £13.20 for two Musical Buggy Bars – excluding delivery, so you’ll have to pick it up in store.

A musical trip out for you and a friend

  • Discount: £4.80
  • Promotions Code: F4DC
  • Expires: Unknown

What’s all the fuss about? Well, the Light and Sound Musical Buggy Bar is a musical buggy bar with a light-up keyboard, drums, cybals and so on. It can also be used for playing on the floor or the highchair.

It requires 3AA batteries, and is suitable from 3 months old.
