Mega Bloks 3-in-1 Build And Go Walker £14.99 @Amazon

Mega Bloks 3-in-1 Build And Go Walker £14.99 @Amazon

The MEGA Bloks Build and Go Walker is available at Amazon for £14.99 instead of £24.99, saving you a lovely 40% with free delivery.

After 18 months of working on PlayPennies, I’m always surprised when I find a deal on something I never new existed. I’ve written about countless walkers, and multiple Mega Bloks deals, but I’ve never seen the Mega Bloks 3 in 1 Build and Go Walker before!

What makes this a special walker is that it combines a traditional walker with the creative fun of building. There’s a removable building plate where your little one can create designs to their heart’s content, and then show them off by pushing them around.

The box contains approximately thirteen pieces, and another bonus of this walker is that it folds quite flat for storage or easy transport.

Mega Bloks Play Table £19.97 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 March, 2012 at 10:00 am

Mega Bloks Play Table £19.97 @ TescoIf you're after some Mega Bloks fun that's a little different from the usual tubs of Mega Bloks bricks, then take a look at this Mega Bloks Play Table - it looks rather nifty and has been reduced down to £19.97 from £29.97.

The Mega Bloks Play Table is designed for little ones aged between one and two years old and if you've ever seen little ones engage with play tables, of any sort, you know they very quickly earn their keep!

This one comes with: four fun scenes, some stickers, a figurine and car along with 20 big colourful, soft blocks that can be stashed in the handy storage compartment; you can also fold the legs away to make it easy to store.

Reviews for the Mega Bloks Play Table are great...

"This is fab to build on and has a lovely bit of storage for some bricks and easy fold down legs. We bought this in the half price sale but would've definately bought it for full price as it has already given my 2 hours of fun. "

"I love the fact that you can store the blocks within the table, fold the legs up and take it with you when travelling."

All of my children loved playing at play tables and would, I'm sure, have had endless hours of fun with a Mega Bloks Play Table.

Mega Bloks Hello Kitty Scoop and Build Tub £10.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 16 February, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Mega Bloks Hello Kitty Scoop and Build Tub £10.99 @ Argos

The 450 piece Mega Bloks Hello Kitty Scoop and Build Tub is on sale at Argos for £10.99 instead of £24.99. It’s currently available from an Amazon seller for £37.99. I can’t seem to find it available anywhere else.

This seems to be quite a large set, with 450 pieces aimed at the over four age group, it also contains a sticker sheet and comes in a decorative storage bin. The lid of the storage bin can be used as a scoop for quick and easy cleaning up.

The blocks themselves are themed for summer and picnics, with a good sized Hello Kitty figure for playing with. There’s a boat, a picnic area and even special decorative blocks you can use the stickers on. Picnic done, Hello Kitty can pick fruit out of the trees and hide from the summer sun (!) under a red and yellow parasol.

The reviewers on it are all happy with it, and their children all seem to love it.  Seems like pretty good value for money!

Mega Bloks: Preschool Bag Pink £9.99 @ Play.com

Mega Bloks: Preschool Bag Pink £9.99 @ Play.com

Play.com have this bag of pink Mega Bloks available for £9.99 instead of £14.99, saving you £5 and throwing in free delivery.

I say ‘build a tower’ because that’s what my daughter tends to want to do with her Mega Bloks. She hasn’t really realised that you can do more than that, just yet. She likes building towers and knocking them down over me. It’s great entertainment, I tell you.

I wrote a full review of these Mega Bloks a while ago – have a read for full details.

This bag has 70 bricks, all in ‘primary classic or pink’ colour scheme. In other words, white, pink, blue and purple.

These bricks can apparently be mixed and matched with other ‘Maxi’ products and is suitable for children over 1 year of age. That said there was a 10 month old visiting recently and he treated the single ‘brick’ as a dummy – and there was no way he was going to swallow it!

Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari £9.99 @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari £9.99 @ Mothercare

Mothercare are selling the Mega Bloks Blok Town Safari Set for £9.99 instead of £19.99. It’s available for home delivery at £4.95, but you can get it in store for free.  The same thing is £24.99 at Amazon right now.

This is quite a sweet looking set from Mega Bloks, which comes a figurine of the zoo keeper, an elephant, lion, two penguins, a monkey, a tree and a few other bits and pieces, making up 25 pieces all together.

With the additional bits you can build trees and habitats for the exotic animals.

I’m not entirely sure how compatible these blocks are with other blocks such as Lego, or even other Mega Bloks as these look way smaller than the Bloks we have, but it is suitable for children over 3 years, so I’m guessing it has some small parts.

Mega Bloks 200 Piece Mini Tub £14.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 28 December, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Mega Bloks 200 Piece Mini Tub £14.99 @ Argos

Argos have a box of Mega Bloks bricks on offer for less than half price. Usually retailing at £34.99, they’re now £14.99  - which is certainly better value for money.

This Mega Bloks set contains 200 mini Bloks which can be used with other Mega block mini or micro products – that doesn’t clarify whether it’s useable with the regular Mega Bloks, which is rather frustrating and while you’d like to assume that it can be, I’m not 100% sure.

My daughter received a bag of Mega Bloks for her birthday and we reviewed them just last week, so have a read of that if you’ve never used Mega Bloks before.

These brightly coloured bricks can be stored in the box which is really useful too as you don’t want to end up with a house full of blocks.

These are suitable for children aged three and over, probably due to ‘small parts’ and have a  lifetime guarantee, although I’m not sure what that means!

The Mega Bloks 200 Piece Mini Tub from Argos has been reviewed by 23 people with an overall rating of 4.4 stars out of 5.

Mega Bloks Pink Bricks In A Bag Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 24 December, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Mega Bloks Pink Bricks In A Bag Review

Everyone knows what Mega Bloks are, right? Well, actually no. Apart from the fact that they’re blocks and a little Lego or Duplo like, if you’ve never had Mega Bloks, you don’t actually know what they’re like!

My daughter received the Pink Bricks in a Bag Mega Bloks from a friend for her birthday, and she really enjoys playing with them.

The pack we received has 80 bricks, some with just one ‘spike’  or whatever it’s called, and some with up to six. The bricks come in a dark pink, light pink and white, with a small smattering of baby blue bricks thrown in for good measure.

The bricks are very light – much lighter than their size would lead you to think, especially if you’re familiar with LEGO and Duplo. I find the plastic to be really thin too, so as a whole they’re not as sturdy or solid. That said, they’re great for little hands, and too big for (most) little mouths, but even if they were able to get them in their mouths, there’s little to no chance of swallowing them, even the single sized Bloks.

The educational purpose of these blocks is to help stimulate creativity, imagination, problem solving and fine motor skills, and I’d agree that it does all of that. I guess my daughter is still a little young, but she will play with them on her own for just a few minutes, but if I’m playing with her, she’ll play for ages – especially if she can tip the towers out over me. That’s great fun.

The bag has a picture of a roof shaped block on it and ours didn’t contain one like that, so I don’t know if it’s just a picture, or a mistake in our pack, but it’s worth mentioning.

Also, the fact that it comes in a sturdy bag is really useful as it makes packing up and storage way less of a pain.

Mega Bloks are regularly on sale, and I like the fact that we can mix and match with other colour sets too, and overall I think it’s good value for money.

Thomas And Friends Mega Bloks Cranky At Brendam Docks Playset £10 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 December, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Thomas And Friends Mega Bloks Cranky At Brendam Docks Playset £10 @ TescoTesco have reduced this Thomas and Friends 'Cranky at Brendam Docks' playset from £40 down to a rather wallet-friendly £10; awesome.

Ahhh, Thomas the Tank Engine - he's becoming an increasingly distant memory for me now as my youngest grows up, my 17 year relationship with the little blue engine is coming to an end as my eldest really isn't a fan anymore either.

I know that anything Thomas the Tank Engine is expensive, but if you keep an eye out for deals on this Thomas and Friends 'Cranky at Brendam Docks' playset  then you can save yourself lots of money and earn yourself lots of parental brownie points at the same time.

Your young Thomas fan will be able to help Thomas, Percy and Cranky the Crane load and unload loads of coal at Brendam Docks as long as they're over three years old - purely because of the small pieces included in the set I'm sure.

People who've already bought this Thomas and Friends 'Cranky at Brendam Docks' playset have plenty of good things to say about it...

"This was brought as a Christmas present and was the ONLY thing he played with all of Christmas Day. He loved it. Will buy more Mega Blocks to add to this."

"Excellent product with lots of different ways to build. My little boy loves to make up the cranky crane and uses it to lift the tucks and Thomas.Great imaginative play with easy to hold pieces. Has played with it every day and is able to create a new story every day. great interchangeable pieces too."

Mega Bloks Blok Squad Fire Station £20 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 December, 2011 at 9:00 am

Mega Bloks Blok Squad Fire Station £20 @ TescoThe countdown to Christmas day is really on now, there are six shopping days left and if you're still looking for presents then this Mega Bloks Blok Squad Fire Station may come to your rescue.

A huge 750 pieces make up this Mega Bloks Blok Squad Fire Station and will keep building block fans amused for a fair few hours after all the Christmas pressies have been opened.  I had to laugh, one of the reviewers on Revoo has given this a thumbs up because there are lots of pieces - 956 according to them, rather than the 750 stated on the box, did they really sit and count them all out?!

They'll spend lots of time building the fire station building, its four rescue vehicles and then have a ton of fun making up role play games for the mini figures afterwards.

Originally £60, Tesco reduced it down to £30 and now down to £20.  You can arrange to have it delivered to your home but that's going to cost you an additional £5 so, even though it means facing the shopping hoards, I'd go and collect my Mega Bloks Blok Squad Fire Station in store for free.

Disney Cars Mega Bloks £11.99 @ BargainCrazy

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

Disney Cars Mega Bloks £11.99 @ BargainCrazyBargainCrazy are selling this tub of Disney Cars Mega Bloks for less than half price - £11.99 instead of £36.00 - they even throw in free delivery too; marvellous.

I wish Disney's Cars had been around when my oldest son was smaller, I would have had loads of fun playing with these Disney Cars Mega Bloks.

I love building things just as much as little kids do and whilst traditional Lego can take a little while to get to grips with, this tub of Disney Cars Mega Bloks is full of big chunky pieces that are the perfect size for little hands to deal with.

There are over 60 blocks in the Disney Cars Mega Bloks tub and it also comes with buildable figurines too, so your little one can recreate their favourite scenes from the Disney Cars movie.

They can make up adventures with Lightening McQueen - he was my youngest's favourite, but alas he's too 'big' for Mega Bloks now preferring instead to have me and his dad build him complicated Lego Star Wars models that take more than a couple of man hours.

The Disney Cars Mega Bloks tub is nice and sturdy and comes with a big lid so there's room to pack everything away again after an exhausting day of building.

1000-Piece Mega Bloks Micro Tub £8.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 February, 2011 at 8:00 am

1000-Piece Mega Bloks Micro Tub £8.99 @ ArgosArgos are selling this 1000-piece Mega Bloks Micro Tub for less than half-price - £8.99 instead of £29.99 and according the small print on the bottom of the item description, this selling price is only going to be valid for the rest of the day (we'll have to see whether it does actually change tomorrow...)

I'm not sure I'd pay £29.99 for this 1000-piece Mega Bloks Micro Tub - perhaps I've got so used to looking at deal prices that any full retail price seems a bit steep.

Micro Mega Bloks pieces offer a bigger challenge than the big chunky mega bloks, so if your child has outgrown those and craves a bigger architecural Mega Bloks test then this tub of 1000 Mega Bloks Micro Bloks pieces will offer them just that.

The vast number of brightly coloured building blocks can be turned into just about anything and everything their imagination sets its heart on.

The one thing I never liked about playing with Mega Bloks with someone else was running out of pieces; with 1000 pieces there’s enough here for everyone to build at the same time without scrabbling around for the right sized block you need to finish off your Mega Bloks Micro Blocks creation.

I’m trying my best not to imagine the horror of 1000 pieces of Mega Bloks Micro Blocks strewn all over the floor, but at least the tub they come in is deep, strong and sturdy and has a secure snap-on lid.

You can have your 1000-piece Mega Bloks Micro Blocks tub delivered for £5.95 or collect for free if your local Argos has it in stock - use www.icheckstock.co.uk to search all 700 Argos stores at once.

Maxi Mega Bloks £7.50 Plus Free Delivery @ Debenhams

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 January, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Maxi Mega Bloks £7.50 Plus Free Delivery @ Debenhams

This 70-piece Maxi Mega Block set is now £7.50, down from £15.00 and then £10.50. It's £20.36 at Amazon at the moment, making this particular offer all the sweeter – especially as there's free delivery too.

There have been a few comments around here recently about the price of some of the toys and how companies really expect normal families to be able to afford them, so it's really nice to see that some toys are still being discounted in the post Christmas clear-outs.

The Maxi Mega Bloks are a great size for little hands, and come in bold and bright primary colours, helping with colour recognition.

They work well with other Mega Bloks sets and can be stored away in a flexible PVC bag with a handle for easy carrying. There are also construction ideas on the bag, should your little one require a bit of help getting started.

A stay at home dad in the Amazon reviews commented “Easy for little hands to get to grips with, great for early understanding of structure, helps with colour recognition and numeracy, endlessly adaptable for use with all sorts of games, and easy to clean- what more could you want?!

Mega Bloks Thomas At Misty Island Less Than Half Price @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 16 January, 2011 at 9:00 am

Mega Bloks Thomas At Misty Island Less Than Half Price @ ArgosArgos are currently selling this Mega Bloks Thomas At Misty Island set for less than half price - it's full retail price was £59.99, its sale price is £19.99.

Anything Thomas the Tank Engine (as I knew him when I was small) or Thomas and Friends (which seems to be his title now) is expensive to buy, but such is the way of it, always has been and I'm sure will always be.

So it pays to keep a look out for good deals when they come up, and paying two-thirds less than the full price for this Mega Bloks Thomas At Misty Island set turns it from an expensive purchase into one that's much more wallet, and purse, friendly.

Let’s look at what this Mega Bloks Thomas at Misty Island set has in store for your child...

Mega Bloks Tub 200 Pieces £5.50 @ Asda

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 December, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Mega Bloks Tub 200 Pieces £5.50 @ Asda

A large tub filled with 200 pieces of Mega Blok bricks to delight a little one for hours, has been reduced from £11.00 to £5.50 at Asda.

Half price for this box is a great deal, if you ask me! The Mega Bloks are compatible with Lego Duplo, but a fraction of the cost. The box is loads bigger than required for the 200 bricks, but that's apparently so that you can store your existing collection with this one, which is pretty forward thinking, I guess.

These Mega Bloks are only the plain bricks, in other words there are no animals, doors, windows, wheels, or figurines, but if you're adding to an existing collection, or bulking out a new one, that's not the end of the world.

You can pay £4.95 for standard delivery, and items should reach you within four days, so you should get it in time for Christmas, snow allowing.

Half Price Mega Bloks Mini Blocks Tub @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 November, 2010 at 10:00 am

Half Price Mega Bloks Mini Blocks Tub @ ArgosArgos are letting tubs of Mega Bloks Mini Blocks go for half price at the moment.

It doesn't matter to me whether I build with properly trademarked Lego, giant Mega Bloks, normal Mega Bloks or Mini Mega Bloks (a bit of an oxymoron if ever there was one!), I just love building things with them.

The other day, me and my youngest built a 'mega awesome' (his words) Mega Bloks castle for his Bakugan's to live in.  It was huge, it was sturdy and it had turrets and doors and everything.

I'm not sure who had the most fun to be honest, him or me, but we were playing together and that was great - I was also named the best Mega Bloks castle-builder EVER.

This tub of Mini Mega Bloks comes with 200 brightly coloured pieces for your building delight, in a robust and deep tub (there are few things more infuriating than a tub that's just not big enough again once you've taken everything out of it!) that has a snap-on lid.

The usual price for these Mini Mega Bloks tub is £29.99, Argos have reduced it to £14.99 and it's avaliable for home delivery (but for £5.95 why would you!?) or collection at your local Argos subject to stock.

Mega Bloks: Thomas At The Sodor Fair Set £14.99 @ Play.com

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 10 June, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Mega Bloks: Thomas At The Sodor Fair Set £14.99 @ Play.comAll kid love building things. Although it seems in my experience that the real fun bit is knocking them apart afterwards! I've had Mega Bloks playsets for my son since he was 18 months old. Play.com have this Thomas the Tank Engine set, Thomas at the Sodor Fair, on half price offer at £14.99 including delivery.

Now it gets a bit complicated if you're buying Mega Bloks toys. In the UK it seems like all their products come under the Mega Bloks brand. However, there are two different types of brick involved, and they aren't compatible. One is the traditional Mega Bloks building bricks, aimed at toddlers, with large robust looking connectors. The other type, which this set belongs to, looks pretty much like Lego. Just less fiddly and with sturdier and chunkier accessories.

Mega Bloks: Thomas At The Sodor Fair Set £14.99 @ Play.comIn my experience, these have been better suited to younger children who are too old for the building blocks, but too young for the fiddlier and much smaller Lego figures and accessories. For example, the little Lego figures can all be pulled apart and often have tiny removable hats, and handheld items. Which frankly, a four year old will soon lose. We've had a number of these play sets, including ones from Diego and Dora the Explorer, and they've survived quite a hammering.  Unfortunately you can't use Mega Bloks with Lego, so if you've a child with both it is well worth your sanity to keep them in seperate tubs!

This set comes with a decorated Thomas, a working ferris wheel, blocks, fair tent and ramps. The recommended age is 3 plus.
