My First Wooden Train Toy Set £14.75 @ Marks and Spencer

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 7 December, 2011 at 7:00 pm

My First Wooden Train Toy Set £14.75 @ Marks and Spencer

Marks And Spencer have 50% off a whole lot of toys and books, and one of the items in the sale is the My First Wooden Train Toy Set which is currently selling for £14.75. If you have it delivered, standard delivery is £3.50, but click and collect to store is free.

My First Wooden Train Toy Set at Marks and Spencer consists of 34 pieces, including a toy train with carriages in bold, bright colour, with funky red wheels. It comes with a bridge that allows the tracks to double back over itself and a tunnel to go through.

The track is put together in segments, but they seem to be quite fixed – I’m not sure how changeable the layout is.  Annoyingly there’s also no indication of whether this track and train are interchangeable with other wooden train sets.

It does conform to the EN71 and Toy Safety Directives, as you’d expect, and is not suitable to under three’s due to small parts.

Up To 50% Off Games @ Marks And Spencer

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 3 December, 2011 at 11:00 am

Up To 50% Off Games @ Marks And Spencer

Marks and Spencer are currently selling a selection of 41 games with two different discounts running – some of the games are 50% off and some are included in a 3 for 2 mix and match.

So say you buy the Wallace & Gromit Rocket Race Game for £15 and the 3D Family Games Compendium for £15 and you add the Panini Table Football for £19.50, you’ll receive £15 off the first two games, but it doesn’t look as though you’ll get the 3 for 2 offer. You will, however, get free delivery (takes care of £3.50) and your order total will be £34.50.

If you buy the Crazee Cube, the Metal Puzzle (both of which would make excellent stocking fillers) and some Terry O’Neill playing cards, your order total would be £16.50, but the cheapest item would be free – the playing cards  were £3.50 – so your order is now £13.  On this you have to add delivery unless you’re picking up in store though.

Your best bet is to have a play around then, and see whether it’d be better for you to go for the 50% off offer, or the 3 for 2 offer, and if you’re picking up in store, to perhaps do two transactions.

Happy playing!

Kids Halloween Costumes 50% Off @ Marks And Spencer

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 26 October, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Kids Halloween Costumes 50% Off @ Marks And Spencer

There’s 50% off 31 Halloween items at M&S at the moment, so if you’re still searching for ‘something’ for the weekend, click and collect or pop in to your local M&S for 50% off a variety of goodies.

Halloween hasn’t really been big on my radar since my early twenties when I dated a goth-wannabe IT geek (and I say geek with the greatest of affections).  I remember walking into a fastfood restaurant with a crowd of friends one Halloween, all on our way to a party and a little girl asked her grandmother why we were all dressed like that. Granny answered, “I think they’re actors, dear.” Too right, probably!

Anyway, if your offspring are dressing up for trick or treating over the weekend, there’s a good range of outfits, from £2 to £10 (half off the price shown).

The Halloween Vampire Outfit is the most expensive at £10, although the Rock Reaper Outfit could be a bit of fun too – albeit a bit cool for trick and treating I think! – and will cost you £6 - £6.50.

My personal favourite, however, has to be the baby bib: Beware I’m Teething.

It can be easy to do a big shop at Marks & Spencer. I like the quality and affordability of their clothes. In my shopping bag to test this code I had a geometric top (in the 20% off sale), a pair of shapers knickers (well you have to use some help once you've had a pregnancy or two), a child's coat (also on offer - 20% off), a child's thermal top and bottom set, and finally a little silver plated handbag keyring.

The whole lot came to £82.50, with £3.50 for postage. The two 20% offers took another £12.65 off that, and finally this code took it down by £10 to £63.35 including delivery. I think a saving of £22.65 overall is pretty good myself.

20% Off Toys And Books @ Marks And Spencer

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 October, 2011 at 11:00 am

20% Off Toys And Books @ Marks And SpencerMarks and Spencer have joined the ever-increasing list of stores offering discounts on toys and books; if you decide to do your Christmas toy shopping with Marks and Sparks then you'll save yourself 20% on most things within the toy department.

Do you remember when the Christmas sales started AFTER Christmas?  I do too, now it seems there are sales on almost all of the time - on the one hand this is a good thing, but on the other...it starts making it tricky to know when a sale is really a sale, or whether things have been over-priced before and come down to something more sensible.  Cynic?  Me?!  Nooooo, never!

Anyway, there are all sorts of lovely things up for grabs in the 20% off toys and books Marks and Sparks sale; I'd advise you have a look around sooner rather than later, because their virtual shelves tend to empty pretty quickly.

There are soft toys, musical toys, puzzles, books, Emily Button things (I've never been a doll person, but she's CUTE!), nursery things are included too as well as LEGO - LEGO always sells out fast.

You can arrange to have all your items delivered to your local Marks and Spencer store for free, it takes a few days but you'll save yourself money on delivery.

Marks & Spencer Promotional Code: 15% OffUse this Marks & Spencer promotional code to get 15% off your order. Although it says that it can't be used with any other offers, I tried it out on a coat reduced in the 20% sale and it took another 15% off.

I tested the coat out on this gorgeous little girl's Autograph Heart Patchwork duffle coat with wool. This had been reduced in the 20% off coats sale from £32 to £25.60. The code took another £4.80 off, and with the delivery of £3.50 the entire total came to £24.30. Not bad especially if you need to buy coats for more than one child.

Trying to keep my mind off events that are happening around London at the moment, at least until my other half gets home safely from work, I've started on that annual Summer holiday chore. Stocking up on schoolwear ready for the new term.

I'm loving that this free delivery code for Marks and Spencer is still working. It means that I can do all this without having to drag my six year old son around the shopping crowds. However, it is very sobering to reflect that my two closest stores are in town centres that I'm currently watching on TV as rioters burn cars and storm into shops. Here's hoping that all our PlayPennies readers are safe at home tonight.

M&S Promotional Code: £5 Off £25 In Kidswear Sale

M&S Promotional Code: £5 Off £25 In Kidswear SaleUse this M&S promotional code to get £5 off your order when you spend £25 or more. It can only be used on items in the Further Reductions Sale. Which is a fabulous sale. I have bought items in this sale reduced down to a third of their original price. You will have to be fast with this though, I can't see there being anything left on this site by tomorrow.

Click here to use your M&S promotional code

  • Discount: £5

  • Expires: 24th July 2011

I first tried it out with a mix of sale and full price school items. But it didn't work. I was told that my order did not meet the promotion criteria. Just in case it was the schoolwear, I also tried it with a mix of sale and full price kidswear, but got the same result.

The code only worked on the Further Reductions sale items. There's some amazing savings here. I stocked up a bit, buying two t-shirts for example. Well at £2 for a Marks & Spencer t-shirt it seemed to make sense.

The Further Reductions sale ends on Sunday.

Radio Controlled Helicopter Gyro Flyer £14.75 @ M&S

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 10 July, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Radio Controlled Helicopter Gyro Flyer £14.75 @ M&SThis deal is good for today only. Marks & Spencer has this Radio Controlled Helicopter - Gyro Flyer - on 50% discount. When you go to the site it will say £29.50, but at checkout this will be reduced to £14.75.

You can't use this in conjunction with any other offers, and it is subject to availability. When I tested it though there were more than 30 helicopters available.

The website claims that this is the "easiest-to-fly RC helicopter available anywhere right now." Well, I've tried flying these sorts of remote controlled devices before, and they are pretty damn tricky. However, I can imagine that most older boys, and lots of grown ups too, would be pretty pleased to find this gift in their birthday present or Christmas pile.

That it is easy to fly, apparantly, is down to the "addition of gyroscope to a metal alloy helicopter and the legendary thumbs up three channel control system". I have to quote directly from the website here because frankly this all means diddly squat to me!

School Uniforms 20% Off @ M&S

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 24 June, 2011 at 8:00 am

School Uniforms 20% Off @ M&S

There’s currently 20% off school uniforms at Marks & Spencer, as well as free delivery with the code UNIFORMS.

I don’t have a school age child, yet at the same time the thought of ‘back to school’ still fills me with all kinds of dread.

While it’s possible that there will be even greater deals as the return dates approach, 20% off uniforms isn’t a bad start – with Cotton Jumpers starting at £1.60, and Stain Defence Skirts (what???) starting at £2.40.

And while you’re looking at stain resistant skirts, there are also 3-pack Non- Iron shirts starting at just over £7.  (Wow. School uniform ‘technology’ has changed since I was at school! We scrubbed the stains out our clothes, and ironed them before school!)

There’s a selection of Free Trade clothing too, also with 20% off.

I’ll tell you one thing though – school uniforms haven’t changed much since we wore them, have they?

Marks And Spencer Promotional Code: £1 Off Personalised Cards

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 29 May, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Marks And Spencer Promotional Code: £1 Off Personalised CardsUse this Marks and Spencer promotional code to get £1 off personalised cards. Very handy with Father's Day fast approaching.

Click here to use your Marks and Spencer promotional code

  • Discount: £1
  • Applies to: Personalised cards
  • Promotional code: NO1DAD
  • Expires: 15th June 2011

To use this code, you'll first need to create your card. Then go through checkout. You will have to either log in or register on the site. Then when you get to the last page of checkout, enter it in the Voucher Code box and hit the Validate button.

You'll see the price of the card immediately reduce by £1. I tried it out on a standard sized Father's Day card. This cost £1.99 and delivery to my UK mainland address was 49p. Once the discount was applied, the total for the card came to ££2.48.

Which isn't a bad price really considering I got both his dad and my son's photographs on the front of the card. I didn't fill in the inside of the card though, I think that's always nicer to have handwritten. However, there was the option to write three messages, one on the inside flap, and two more on the main side of the card where you'd normally write the To and From bits.

Dozen Red Roses £19.99 @ Marks and Spencer

Dozen Red Roses £19.99 @ Marks and Spencer

In case you've not noticed, we're just ten days away from Valentines day, but with this – forgive the marketing speak – fantastic offer from Marks and Spencer, there's really no need to panic. A dozen Kenyan Red Roses for £19.99 including delivery at Marks and Spencer.

Not only are these beautiful roses a great price – the same at Interflora starts at £30.00 and some florists will charge you over £100 – but these are also Fairtrade roses, meaning they were ethically sourced and traded as the Kenyan flower farmers are paid a fair price to invest in their local communities.

The roses arrive wrapped in printed cellophane, and you can add a personal message to the card. Delivery is included in the price. Additionally, Marks and Spencer's Flower Freshness Guarantee means that this bouquet will stay looking beautiful for at least seven days, or you can have your money back.

These roses are available for delivery on either the 11th, 12th or 14th of February – and this is an online exclusive offer, so you won't find it in store.

Add a little romance to your Valentine's day with this bouquet of twelve roses from Marks and Spencer – oh, and the vase isn't included!

Three Pack Baby's Cotton Pyjamas £7.00 @ Marks And Spencer

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 4 February, 2011 at 8:00 am

Three Pack Baby's Cotton Pyjamas £7.00 @ Marks And Spencer

This three-pack baby's pyjamas set from Marks and Spencer is on sale at £7.00.

These cute and comfy pyjamas are made from soft breathable cotton. They are – according to the reviewers – good quality and wash and dry well.

A good tip – also from a reviewer – is that these are on the big side – she bought the size 4-5 for her four year old, and they were 'extremely long'. Another tip: they are somewhat more suitable for spring than for winter. Sadly, these are only available in size 12 – 18months now.

The six part set consists of 3 long sleeve, round neck tops with contrast trim and three long trouser legs. The colours are girly, in plain pink, purple and white stripes, owl and kitten and panda patterns.

As this is on sale, it is not available for store collection, but it can be delivered to your home for £3.50.

P.S. There are a few other sets in other colours and styles worth looking at too!

Marie Cot £29.70 @ Marks And Spencer

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 13 January, 2011 at 11:00 am

Marie Cot £29.70 @ Marks And SpencerNormally I don't say things like this but this bargain is hot, hot, hot! It is the Marie Cot from M&S. It normally retails for £99.99, but has been reduced just this morning by 70% to £29.70. I would advise getting in quick for this one. Very handy if you're a new parent, or about to become a grandparent (tip from a parent - it is always nice  to have cot around when coming to visit!).

When I clicked to buy this cot, the site put it in my Shopping Basket at the higher price of £99.99. When you go through checkout, and get to the order summary page, I saw the discount applied.

Here is where I got a nice little bit of a surprise. Back on the 19th of November I posted a 10% discount code for M&S. I didn't use it at the time, but I did test it out. That code has now expired. Now, when I went in to test out this deal, I found that on the Order Summary page it told me that I had Promotional Credit still available and it took 10% off the full £99.99 price! So that was an additional £9.90 making the cot £19.80.

From now on I will be 'using' all Marks and Spencer promotional codes even if I am not actually buying at the time (you just need to sign in to your account, and enter the code on the Order Summary page).

The cot is made from solid pine and has a teething rail. It doesn't say on the website if it is height adjustable. One thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't come with a mattress - you should price this up separately before buying the cot. It's dimensions are: H94 x L126 x W67cm. The Marie Cot is delivered flatpack due to its size. On the website it says something about staff assembling the cot but I'm not sure if you need to pay extra for that.

Toy Story 3 DVD £7.50/£6.67 And Free Delivery @ Marks and Spencer

Toy Story 3 DVD £7.50/£6.67 And Free Delivery @ Marks and Spencer

Toy Story 3 is on sale at Marks and Spencer. Originally £22.50, plus £3.50 delivery, it is now available for £10.50. But with a code for free delivery and a possible additional 15% off, it could cost as little as £6.67. Confused? Me too!

Woody and Buzz and friends may well have accepted that Andy has grown up, but really, you don't have to accept £25.00 for a DVD!

With £15.00 off the cost of the Toy Story 3 DVD, it's already a great saving, but for some people at HUKD, myself included there's been an additional 15% off at the checkout for no apparent reason. I've searched and searched to find where the additional 15% has come from, but it seems some people have just had it added to their accounts.

There's also a FREE DELIVERY code which can be added to the discounted DVD and the 15% off, saving an additional £3.50.

  • Promotional Code: Perweb02
  • Discount: Free Delivery
  • Expires: Unknown

The discounts will be shown at checkout.

I'd move quickly on this – I can't imagine it'll be available for very long, and at this price stocks will move quickly too!
