Mamas And Papas Up To 50% Off Sale

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 28 June, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Mamas And Papas Up To 50% Off SaleWell, as it says in the title, there’s up to 50% off at Mamas and Papas on pushchairs, nursery furniture, nursery interiors and some baby and maternity clothing.

I really love Mamas and Papas, but can pretty much count on one hand the items I’ve bought  from them, because most of the time, they’re out of my price range. However, right now, with up to 50% off I’m finding it hard to find reasons not to buy just a little something here and there.

While there are loads of offers in store, here are a few of the web exclusives I thought you might be interested in:

  • The Skate 3 in 1 - City Scape travel system is half price, down from £675 to £337.50.While I’m not a buggy kind of mum, that does seem like a fairly good saving!
  • Similarly, the Madison Collection in Ivory White was £999 and is now £499 – a whopping saving on nursery furniture there.
  • The gorgeous Barnaby Button Quilt and Pillowcase Set which is normally an eye-watering £72 is now £36.
  • While some hate them for restricting the baby, my daughter is a kicker and her blankets never stay on, so when she was a baby, we loved our baby sleeping bags, and these are down to £15 from £30.

These are just a few of the web exclusives, but there are plenty more to check out.

Rocking Horse £45 @ Mamas And Papas

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 4 June, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Rocking Horse £45 @ Mamas And Papas

There’s 36% off these two lovely rocking horses at Mamas And Papas, meaning each would cost you £45 instead of £70 in this web exclusive offer.

My daughter had a rocking horse given to her when we went to South Africa last year, and she adored it. She literally rocked it around the tiled floors of the open plan kitchen/living room/dining room. Unfortunately when we left it was just too big to bring back with us, even though we tried disassembling it and getting it its own suitcase.

These are a little smaller, but just as lovely.

There’s Topaz, suitable from around 12 months, a soft velour horse with a stylish sheepskin effect saddle. He has a solid wood frame and handgrips for added support, and if you press his ear, he makes horse sounds – neighing and galloping, I guess.

Topaz comes with an easy to pack away reusable bag, and requires 2xAA batteries (for the horsey sounds – but from experience I can tell you that he’s as much fun without the sounds.)

There’s also Pollyanna, who is a little smaller, making her suitable from 9 months old. Pollyanna comes with crinkle fabric, rattles and squeakers in her ears. The reviewers love Pollyanna and give her five stars (out of five!)

Car Seat: Mamas and Papas Primo Viaggio IP £69.94 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 3 January, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Car Seat: Mamas and Papas Primo Viaggio IP £69.94 @ Argos

The winner of the Pregnancy Best Buy, Mother & Baby Favourite Oct 2004, and Prima Baby Best Buy Nov 2003 Mamas and Papas Primo Viaggio IP Car seat is on sale at Argos for £69.94, half of the original £139.89

Car seats are so important and recommendations are that you should never use a second hand car seat as you don't know if it's been in an accident or not. At they same time, they are usually so expensive, it can seem like a lot of money to spend in one go – and yet it is essential baby equipment. Most hospitals won't let you drive away without one.

This Mamas and Papas car seat is a group 0+ seat, meaning it is suitable for babies from birth to around 12 – 15 months, or around 13kg. It fits rear and front seats – so long as the front seat air bag has been disabled, and is a rear facing chair as that is what is recommended for babies and children up to ever increasing ages.

This car seat is for use with lap and 3 point seat belts, and is ISOFIX compatible. It has a five point harness, quick release buckle and buckle pad and has side impact protection. For maximum comfort, it has five shoulder positions and a five position headrest (and a removable newborn support cushion), so your baby is driving in style.
The Primo Viaggio IP Car seat is compatible with Mamas & Papas Aria, Ora, O-Zon pram and Skoot prams, has a removable, washable cover and weighs 4.5kg

Mamas & Papas SALE: Now Up To 75% Off

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 1 January, 2011 at 9:00 am

Mamas & Papas SALE: Now Up To 75% OffThe Mamas & Papas sale has moved up a notch, from the 50% off we reported earlier last month (last year!) to 75% off.

Which is great news for me. Mamas and Papas is a brand that makes for a nice gift. For me anyway. When I was pregnant I'd never have splurged on it - or at least not very much - as it is so expensive. Receiving it on the other hand is always particularly lovely. And I've a number of births due, and 1st birthdays, amongst friends and family this year!

Like these stunningly cute little pink knitted boots, reduced from £14 to £9. These have a quilted jersey lining, and will keep little feet really snug and warm in the cold depths of winter. Not to mention looking good! Perfect for a friend who's little girl is due in July - so will be six months-ish next winter. Now all I have to do is remember that I've bought them - and where I've put them!

When working out the pricing don't forget to factor in delivery - that's within four working days and costs £4.95.

Rocking Reindeer £20.00 @ Mamas And Papas

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 December, 2010 at 8:00 am

Rocking Reindeer £20.00 @ Mamas And Papas

The Rocking Reindeer that was reduced to £25.00 last week has been further reduced to £20.00 at Mamas And Papas.

These are just so superbly cute, they make me go all squishy inside. My daughter has something similar, a horse with a red and green scarf and a Christmas hat, and it's one of the biggest smile- inducing toys. In fact, sing 'Horsey, Horsey don't you stop, just let your heals go clippity-clop' to her and she'll toddle over to it, hop on, and start rocking herself. Sickly sweet to me, but probably just sickly to you ;)

So this little guy has crinkle material in his antlers and ears, which is great for the little ones who still love all those sensory materials. He also has removable foot rest, which does tend to give the reindeer rocking animal a little more lifespan, as it really is primarily for a little one just sitting up (or around 9 months) and onwards.

The saddle is soft suedette so no scratchy leather, which is a bonus and the green fleece scarf is not so Christmas that it would be weird using it or giving it as a gift at another time of year – despite the animal itself being a reindeer!

The dimensions are around H: 45 x W: 27 x D: 64cm and the seat is at around 32cm.

Sadly, it's too late to order the Reindeer Rocking Animal for this Christmas, but it could certainly go in a cupboard somewhere ready for the next one, especially at this price.

Mamas And Papas Booster Car Seat £19.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 18 December, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Mamas And Papas Booster Car Seat £19.99 @ Argos
The Mamas & Papas Trekker Booster Car Seat is half price at Argos, at £19.99, down from £39.99.

When I was doing my list of must have items before my daughter was born, I remember thinking that the car seat was one of the more expensive items on my list. I remember - foolishly- thinking, “Oh, well, at least it's a once off purchase”.

For the first three months it was a fabulously light carseat that we could actually carry her around in, since we didn't have a pram. By four months her legs were hanging over the end, so we invested in a bigger one, which worked very well, until one day the clasp literally broke in my hand. I still thank heavens we never had an accident with her in that seat.

At a year a friend loaned us a booster seat to try out, but that didn't last long as she was still way too small. We finally found the right age appropriate seat, and although her feet hover near the end, she's at least securely buckled in! So next it'll be a booster seat, but fortunately we have a little time still!

For those of you who don't, however, this Mamas & Papas Trekker Car Seat is a Group 2 – 3 seat, and is suitable for children aged 4 – 12 years, or 15 to 36kg and is approved to ECE.R44.03 standards.

It fits front and rear seats, and uses a lap and three point seat belt to secure it. It also has side impact protection and a removable, machine washable cover.

Going forward it also converts to a booster seat, so hopefully it'll be your last car chair purchase!

Musical Changing Mattress £15.00 @ Mamas and Papas

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 11 October, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Musical Changing Mattress £15.00 @ Mamas and PapasOn the list of unnecessary, but "yes, please" baby must-haves, this musical changing mattress from Mamas and Papas for £15 is a high ranker. Down from £22, I can't decide if I love or hate it!

I'm a big believer in the reality that so few of the 'essentials' for a new baby are really essential and that we could quite comfortably do without them. Unfortunately, it's really only after a few months that we realise how much of a con so many of these must-haves really are.

This musical changing mattress is a case-in-point. Now, I don't know what it is about babies, but it seems they all go through phases where they really don't like having their nappies changed. My daughter will squirm, worm and manoeuvre her way off of her changing matt despite my earnest pleas. The only way to get her to stay is to distract her with toys, sunglasses, mobile phones and so on.

I am therefore quite curious as to how useful this musical mattress might be. I think my little girl might get 'used' to it and it might lose it's effectiveness, but on the other hand, it could work.

If you're going to be buying a matt anyway, then at £15 this Mamas and Papas changing matt might be worth a try – I mean, it has all the basic functions of easy to clean PVC and 'child friendly' corners too!

Essential? Well, probably not, but quirky enough that someone like me might want it.

Rocking Randolph Reindeer £35 @ Mamas and Papas

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 6 October, 2010 at 8:00 am

Rocking Randolph Reindeer £35 @ Mamas and Papas

This rocking Randolph Reindeer from Mamas and Papas has been reduced from £70 down to £35!

You do realise that 'Randolph the red nosed reindeeeeer...had a very shiny nose...' is going to be going round and ROUND in my head all day now!

I wonder if they had to call him Randolph, rather than Rudolph, for copyright reasons...?

One thing I don't need to wonder on is whether little kids will like riding on him or not.  I've not come across one yet who doesn't make a dash for the rocking ride-on toys whenever there are any to play with.

There are lots of them out and about on the market to choose from, but few are as CUTE as Randolph Reindeer in my opinion, but I am a bit of a Christmas fan so I might be a bit biased.

He's soft, cuddly and his ears and antleers crinkle when you scrunch them (I WANT HIM!)

The wooden footrests are removeable and he's suitable for little ones aged nine months or over. If you want him, guaranteed, in time for Crimbo then you must make sure you order him before 17 December...I wouldn't wait that long if I were you, at this price he's going to be out of stock waaaaay before then!

You can collect him for free from an M&P store, or you're going to pay £4.95 for delivery.

Mamas & Papas Universal Luxury Sun Canopy £5 @ Mamas & Papas

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 14 September, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Mamas & Papas Universal Luxury Sun Canopy £5 @ Mamas & PapasThis is a fantastic price for a sun canopy from Mamas & Papas with the cheapest equivalent elsewhere going for around £20. While it may not necessarily match your buggy, it is only £5 and down from a hefty £35, this is a great saving.

This parasol comes with a hinged and flexible arm so you can adjust it to offer your child maximum shade protection. It is a universal fit, too, so it should fit most prams and pushchairs with ease. The measurements are 77x37x2cm so make sure you check your chair before taking advantage of this deal.

There are some brands – Joolz, Herbie, Frankie and Skate – at Mamas & Papas that will not let this sunshade fit them thanks to their own unique settings. So don’t get this if those happen to be your chairs!

Personally I cannot understand why this strip of fabric on some poles sells for as much as £35 in the first place. It seems a little heavy on the wallet. Now, £5 for this seems like a great deal indeed. Although my inner cynic is saying that this is probably what it was worth all along.

Mamas and Papas Sabrina Cot £69.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 25 August, 2010 at 8:00 am

Mamas and Papas Sabrina Cot £69.99 @ ArgosMamas and Papas nursery furniture can be expensive, but Argos are 'giving away' this Mamas & Papas Sabrina cot for just £69.99 instead of £114.89.

I always chose to have cotbeds for my three children, but not everyone wants, or has space for, something quite so big which is where normal sized cots come into their own.

This Mamas and Papas Sabrina cot has a lovely classic look to it as it's finished in an antique pine colour. One side drops down and each side rail has teething covers on them - this is a GREAT feature; my eldest used to set my teeth on edge, when he was little, as he used to drag his top teeth across the side rails of his cot bed *shudder*

The Sabrina cot doesn't come with a mattress but then very few cots, or cot beds, do - apparently this is to allow us parents to decide which mattress we'd like to be ripped off  for choose from!

The technical blurb for this Mamas & Papas Sabrina cot is as follows:

  • Size (W)62, (L)121, (H)93cm.
  • Suitable from birth.
  • Pine cot with antique finish.
  • 3-position mattress base that allows easy access.
  • Teething rails.
  • 1 drop side.
  • Mattress not included - requires mattress size (L)117, (W)54cm.
  • Complies with BS EN 716.
  • Weight 25.9kg.
  • Home delivery is currently sitting at approximately 14 days, or you can collect it from your local Argos if they have it in stock, and you'll need to deploy your self assembly skills when it arrives.

Mamas and Papas Giggle Bouncer £14.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 11 July, 2010 at 10:00 am

Mamas and Papas Giggle Bouncer £14.99 @ ArgosA bouncy, or rocking, chair of some description is one of the things I'd put on a must-have list of baby equipment.

All three of my children spent a lot of time in bouncy chairs when they were small, and I could get quite militant with people who say they don't need one.

Ok, so NEED is debatable but your life will be sooo much easier if you have one and THAT alone should make it a compulsory purchase!

This Mamas and Papas giggle bouncer chair on offer at Argos is suitable from six months onwards - it's NOT suitable for newborns as it's quite upright - and has been reduced from £24.99 to £14.99.

It has a detachable toy arch with two hanging toys for your baby to bat with their hands and play with, it has a removeable head-hugger and a support strap so your child doesnt' just slide off the end (a most important feature I'm sure you'll agree *grin*).

You can take off the Mamas and Papas Giggle Bouncer cover and bung it in the wash, it also has non-slip rubber feet which is a great little feature for anyone who has laminate flooring and it has a vibrate function too - you'll have to buy the 2 AA batteries needed as they aren't included.

Collect in store for free or get stung with the £5.95 next-day delivery charge.

Effie And Mop Bedding Set £89 @ Mamas & Papas

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 26 June, 2010 at 8:00 am

Effie And Mop Bedding Set £89 @ Mamas & PapasMamas & Papas are, as a rule, really expensive so while this £89 is a huge discount off the usual RRP of £179.99, it's still a little pricey. But for those of you that heart Mamas & Papas, and the Effie and Mop range, this will come as a delightful surprise.

This seven piece set is made up of seven items including a quilt (to fit cot/bed), a bumper, lampshade, curtains, fitted sheet, tie backs and a fleece blanket. There is no fitted sheet in the package (grrr) but you can always nab some of those for a lower price elsewhere.

If you don't need any bedding but rather like the Effie & Mop range then there are a couple of other items included in the sale that may tickle your fancy. One that I really like is the Effie and Mop Dreampod. I love baby sleepingEffie And Mop Bedding Set £89 @ Mamas & Papas bags. My little one would kick her sheets off all the time and wake us all up because she was cold and these saved us.

This particular design is down from £30 to £15, which is a good price for any good quality sleeping bag, and is 2.5 tog - a rating you can use through most of the year - and is for 0-6 months old. These are fab so nab one of these if you've got a restless baby.

    Sola Pushchair Review

by Emma Kelly in Reviews on 2 June, 2010 at 1:00 pm

    Sola Pushchair Review

Read on for a Sola pushchair review... the buggy I recently opted for with the birth of my first baby!

When I first started to look at purchasing a pushchair for my new addition to the family, I was kind of overwhelmed by the amount of choices there were available. Should I go for a pushchair, a travel system, separates... so much variety!

    What Do I Want?!

I had a few pre-requisites in mind before making my purchase. I wanted a fairly lightweight pushchair, I wanted one that could fit a carseat on to the frame (not on top of the buggy part) and I wanted a car seat with isofix compatibility. I wasn't asking much, but it seemed quite hard to find a system that met my wants.

I do really like the Mamas and Papas baby equipment. A lot of my family have used various pieces from them in the past, and always have excellent opinions of them.

    What is Isofix?Sola Pushchair Review

For those of you who don't know about isofix, it stands for "International Standards Organisation FIX." It's basically a standard for fitting car seats into cars, and most later models of cars now have isofix.

I have it in the back seats of my car, and it looks like 2 large metal hooks, where the base of the seat meets the back. If you want to read a bit more about isofix, there's some good info here on the childcarseats page.

    Visiting A Store

I decided to visit a local store which sold various buggies and travel systems to see what felt good. When you are making this kind of purchase, I really believe that you should have a try of it before you buy, and not just buy it online. I spotted the Sola pushchair from Mamas and Papas, and I liked the feel of it. In store, they only had the green model, but the purple was more appealing to me.

Now, the matching car seat (The Cybex Aton) did not have isofix, so I didn't really want to go for it. But I was informed that other car seats in the Mamas and Papas range were compatible with the frame of this buggy, and other car seats were also isofix compatible. I was directed to the Primo Viaggio range of car seats, and I ended up going for this one. I just had to buy 2 little adapters from Mamas and Papas and the car seat now fits on to the buggy base.

Sola Pushchair ReviewThe Sola Pushchair Review

I love the Sola pushchair! I just purchased the pushchair itself, and didn't bother with a carry cot. I already have a Moses basket for using at home, so I didn't really see the point in going for the Sola carry cot.

The Sola pushchair is really easy to use, it's light and versatile. I find it very easy to steer, whether I am walking down the street or flying round Tescos. The pushchair folds up nice and tight and fits well in the boot of my car. The handle is easily adjusted too, so we can put it higher when my taller partner is wheeling the pram.

I also like how the buggy can face both ways. I currently only have the baby pointing at me, but when she is a bit older, I am sure I will use the forward-facing option too.

The Primo Viaggio Car Seat Review

The Primo Viaggio car seat is also really handy. I love how I can just pop the baby in the car seat and then click it into the Isofix base. I don't have to become a contortionist and fuss around with trying to wrap a seatbelt around the car seat. The only problem I have with the setup is that it makes a little bit of a clicking noise when driving, but I can live with that.

    Conclusion

Since I purchased the pushchair, I have since joined which online only to find that they also do comprehensive reviews of pushchairs and travel systems. I wish I had used that reference when making my decision!

I know you can buy a complete travel system for around £100 or £150. I spent quite a bit extra in buying the Sola pushchair and all the accoutrements, but I am more than pleased with my purchase. As it is my first baby, I wanted to get a specific type of pushchair, as I will be using it for a few years, and maybe even for a second child in the future...!

And I will finish off with a personal photo of mine, it's the Sola pushchair in action, holding my little baby Maya!
