LEGO Duplo Lighting McQueen £5.98 @ ASDA

LEGO Duplo Lighting McQueen £5.98 @ ASDA

LEGO Duplo’s Lightning McQueen set is on sale at ASDA for £5.98 instead of £9.97, saving you £3.99.

Actually I think this is a really expensive set. Even at £5.98, you’re getting a car, a finish-line flag, a handful of blocks and a cactus. As the single reviewer put it, you’d have to add this to more Duplo to really be able to do much with it. She does also say that ASDA was about £5 less than anywhere else though.

I guess if you’re going to be buying a bit of Lightning McQueen Duplo, rather pay this price for it than full price.  My daughter has a Duplo Lightning McQueen (which she calls Ferrari!)  and she loves it, but the side panels do keep falling off, so it’s probably worth noting that if your child is going to be looking for a car to run around with all day, you might want to get something that doesn’t fall apart.

Considering how much time it’s spent in the bath, however, I’ve been impressed with the printing on it, and that it’s stayed on!

You can collect it from your local store for free, or have it delivered for £2.95.

Lego Duplo Farm Nursery £5.69 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 5 October, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Lego Duplo Farm Nursery £5.69 @ Amazon

There’s a rather generous 43% off Lego Duplo’s Farm Nursery set at Amazon at the moment – and this is Amazon, we never know how long it will last!  They’re selling the set at £5.69 instead of the usual £9.99.

We actually have this set, and is rather fabulous. It is aimed at babies from about 1 and a half years to about five years, but the animals are suitable for even younger children in my unprofessional opinion.  They are chunky and don’t contain any loose bits, and I can’t imagine how they’d be a chocking hazard as I doubt you’d fit them in your mouth – although don’t quote me on   that.

The set consists of baby farm animals, including a lamb, calf, foal and kitten and they really are quite cute. There’s also a farm girl figure, and a handful of blocks.

The animals have a notch on them so the farm girl can sit on them Lego-style, and most of the reviewers agree with me that it is a lovely set.

Lego Duplo Plane £10.53 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 June, 2011 at 9:00 am

Lego Duplo Plane £10.53 @ AmazonI do like this little Lego Duplo Plane and I like the fact that Amazon have it on sale again for £10.53, instead of £14.99.

Unfortunately this Lego Duplo Plane isn't an Amazon Deal of the Week so it's price may go up just like the cost of British Airways tickets are at the moment (I'll spare you that particular Tuesday morning rant of mine!).

The plane already comes ready built so it's perfect for little chubby fingers that aren't quite ready for full-blown aero construction yet, but it does come with parcels which they can attach to the plane.

The propeller spins around and it comes with a pilot – who is going to be very necessary if you don't have your own pilots licence - and a passenger.

It also comes with some ordinary Duplo bricks and flowers – I have NO idea what they have to do with anything, perhaps it's so you can make your runway look nice for take offs and landings! First impressions and all that...

Delivery is free if you choose the SuperSaver Option which,  in my experience , is always pretty quick with things being delivered within three days or so.

Happy flying!

Lego Duplo Play With Numbers £15.29 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 May, 2011 at 9:00 am

Lego Duplo Play With Numbers £15.29 @ AmazonAmazon are selling Lego Duplo Play With Numbers for £15.29 instead of £24.99

Oooh Lego combined with numbers; I'm a very big fan of anything that combines play with learning for very young kiddies, and it's never too early to introduce them to numbers in my opinion.

There are 58 bright, colorful numbered bricks that will have your titchy one learning their numbers without realising it or feeling they're having to try.

Lego Duplo Play With numbers includes a Lego Duplo child figure, dog, and wagon which allows for imaginative role play too.

Pattern recognition skills will also developed when your child plays with Lego Duplo Play With Numbers, as you can play matching games with the bricks that have pictures on them.

Lego Duplo Play with Number has also been granted a 'National Parenting Seal of Approval' award; parents who've already bought it are very happy parents indeed:

"My 2 year old daughter was thrilled to play with this set when she was given it. The bright numbers and pictures drew her in instantly. She is counting more and more and since being given this set she uses it all the time to count the pictures as she builds.

Not only with the lovely colours and pictures you get a really sweet boy and dog figure and a car, fencing & flowers to play with too. So there are many different ways to build and count at the same time.

I would definitely recommend this item to anybody and would buy as a gift for either a boy or a girl. This set will no fail to impress. A must have!"

Happy counting with Lego Duplo Play with Numbers!

Lego Duplo Large Bricks Box £15.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 May, 2011 at 9:00 am

Lego Duplo Large Bricks Box £15.99 @ AmazonAmazon are currently selling this box of large Lego Duplo Bricks for £15.99 instead of £25.99.

There are 71 blocks in this box of large Lego Duplo bricks, I'm not sure I'd pay £25.99 for them but at £15.99 I'd be tempted if any of my children were young enough for Lego Duplo.

I had to laugh when I read 'Assembly required: yes' in the Amazon blurb - I rather think that's the whole point of anything Lego!

I have a bit of a 'thing' for building things with Lego. It doesn't matter what size the bricks are, large Lego Duplo bricks or standard, Star Wars Lego or Harry Potter it makes no difference, I just LOVE building things - perhaps I missed my calling as an architect.

My youngest loves playing with Lego too and he dreams up all sorts of amazing things to build, his imagination never ceases to amaze me. Me?  I just like building houses or castles - there's that frustrated architect again!

But for times when imagination is, temporarily, lacking this box of large Lego Duplo bricks comes with a little book of 'inspiration' to help you on your way; marvellous.

All the usual Amazon delivery options apply, so free delivery if you're prepared to wait for a few days.

Lego Duplo Petrol Station £11.61 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 November, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Lego Duplo Petrol Station £11.61 @ ArgosArgos have a nice little exclusive online discount on this Lego Duplo Petrol Station - currently selling it for £11.61 instead of £17.99.

I remember always wanting to have a go at filling up my mum's car as a kid; my kids were the same too, in fact they still are.

My eldest turned 16 earlier this month and he was VERY excited at being old enough to operate the petrol pumps!

Until your little one hits that magic petrol-pumping age, they'll have to make do with operating the pumps at their Lego Duplo Petrol Station instead.

It rather appeals to me - that car has more than a tinge of Bugatti Veyron about it don't you think, or is it just me?

So not only can they fill up their Veyronesque Lego Duplo car, but they can also unleash their inner F1 mechanic and change the wheels and take the engine out too; the Lego Duplo Petrol Station comes with a screwdriver and wrench to help them do this.

One dad reviewer was very happy with his Lego Duplo Petrol Station purchase...

"The car is well made and has survived been thrown about, stepped on etc. Came with a screwdriver to put the wheels on which is also rather cleverly made - you can't over tighten the wheels."
Not only THAT but delivery on this item is F R E E!!  That's right, Argos are going to deliver something for free instead of fleecing you for £5.95 - so now you don't have to go out in the snow!

Lego Duplo Big City Zoo 41.99 @ Lego.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 6 August, 2010 at 9:00 am

Lego Duplo Big City Zoo 41.99 @ Lego.comThis Lego Duplo Big City Zoo has been reduced from £59.99 down to £41.99 and would make a great main birthday  pressie for any young animal fan.

My daughter has always been obsessed with animals. We often joke that she must be the reincarnation of St Francis of Assissi because if there's a lost pet or wounded animal in need of help within a 5 mile radius, she'll find it!

She finds it impossible to watch nature programmes which involve animal death or suffering without getting upset; human tragedy, sure she can sympathise and feel sorry for those involved but upset by it...no, not really. Animals, yes. People, not so much; it's no big surprise that she wants to be a vet.

The clues have always been there as she loved playing with things that had animal characters, like this Lego Duplo Big City Zoo which has 12 including: lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras, monkeys and bears.

There are also zoo staff member figures and visitors, plus all the Lego Duplo bricks and trees that you need to build the enclosures for the animals.

At first glance you might consider the Lego Duplo Big City Zoo to be on the expensive side, but when you work out the cost per hours of play and enjoyment it's an absolute bargain and as your order is over £25 delivery will be free.
