Kids Freebie: Lego Toys In The Sun Newspaper 19th Of May To 27th Of May

by Lynley Oram in Freebies on 19 May, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Kids Freebie: Lego Toys In The Sun Newspaper 19th Of May To 27th Of MayLego is expensive stuff, so any chance to get some free or cheap Lego is always welcome. Even if it does involve the Sun newspaper! It is the Sun giveaway time again. Free Lego packs are being given away with every issue starting today, the 19th of May, and running until the 27th of May.

To get this freebie, you need to either buy or get hold of a Sun newspaper. The newspaper costs 50p. Or at least it did today when I bought one in order to get this deal. I've never bought a Sun before so no idea if that's the normal price or not!

The voucher was on page 4 of the TV Biz pages in the middle of the newspaper. Take the voucher to either a WH Smith's or a Toys R Us.  Today's Lego toy is the Batman Jetski. Be quick though as when they ran this promotion last time a lot of stores very quickly ran out of toys.

You don't need to spend money. Chances are if you ask around you're bound to find someone who buys this paper and doesn't need the voucher. Last time, when they did the Pirate's of the Caribbean one, my husbands workmates all collected them for him. My son ended up with about six of each toy!

Here's the full list:

  • Saturday: Batman Jetski
  • Sunday: Batmobile
  • Monday: Ninjago Ninja Car
  • Tuesday: City race car
  • Wednesday: Star Wars Star Destroyer
  • Thursday: City Police Plane
  • Friday: City fire chief
  • Saturday: Ninjago Hidden Sword
  • Sunday: Star Wars TIE fighter

Lego Kids Toy Story Woody Kids Watch With Minifigure £11.53 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 17 April, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Lego Kids Toy Story Woody Kids Watch With Minifigure £11.53 @ Amazon

Toy story and Lego have come together and created a fun and exciting new watch and Amazon have reduced it by 39% from £18.99 to £11.53. Delivery is free, and along with the watch you’ll receive a Lego Woody Mini-Figure.

The Lego Toy Story watch can be customised to suit your preferences. The watch band has interchangeable links and the blue bezel can be swapped for the red one, so there’s loads of fun to be had on the go.

The watch is powered by Japanese Quartz Movement and features a scratch resistant mineral crystal, making it reliable and durable, and most importantly, (relatively) child proof.

Coming up for summer, you’ll be happy to know that it’s also water resistant up to 50 meters, so running through the sprinkler or jumping into your local pool isn’t going to end its life.

Considering its apparent quality, the Lego Kids Toy Story Woody Kids Watch does seem to be pretty good value for the price!

Lego City Let's Build! Activity Book with Lego Figurine £2.92 @ Amazon

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 4 February, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Lego City Let's Build! Activity Book with Lego Figurine £2.92 @ AmazonGot a Lego fan in the house? Chances are pretty high that, if your offspring is aged 12 or under, you most certainly do. This Lego City: Let's Build! Activity Book with Lego Figurine has been reduced by Amazon, from £4.99 to £2.92. Delivery is free with Amazon Prime. Some of these Activity books have been found as low as £3 in-store in Asda, but otherwise this is about the cheapest price I could find online.

Let's get building! Little Lego builders everywhere will love this fantastic activity book. First, construct the Lego City builder toy, then read the stories and try the puzzles which are all about building. What more could every Lego City Construction fan want?

There are three reviews on the site, all giving it five stars. Here's what one reviewer had to say. "My Grandson loves Lego, he has so many kits I would never presume to buy another for him. When I saw this book I thought at last, I can get him something. All the shops I have been in, I have never seen a book such as this . He loves it. It is an excellent addition to his vast Lego collection."

Box of Lego Wheels £9.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 31 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Box of Lego Wheels £9.99 @ ArgosArgos are selling this box of LEGO wheels for £9.99 with free delivery (you can't collect them in-store, this is an online offer only).

Now this deal will either leave you nonplussed or you'll be jumping up and down with joy - there won't be any in-between.  If you're wondering why on earth anyone would get excited about a box of LEGO wheels then you obviously don't have lots of LEGO in your house.

If you are in the 'jumping up and down with joy' camp, like I am, then you'll have the same HUGE storage box of mixed up LEGO that my youngest has; you, too, will also know the agony of not having enough of the right wheels to be able to build a 'million-wheeled' monster vehicle!

So, yes, JOY and RAPTURE at the mere sight of lots of different LEGO wheels all together in the same place, if only for a little while; even if we know their destiny is to join the other LEGO bits and pieces in that huge storage box, at least we'll know they're in there....somewhere!

Remember, you can't click and reserve this box of LEGO wheels - delivery is free though (normal delivery charges are £5.95) and your LEGO wheels will be with you in around four days from order.

LEGO Sale @ Debenhams

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 29 December, 2011 at 4:00 pm

LEGO Sale @ Debenhams

There’s up to 50% off LEGO at Debenhams and it’s doubtful that stocks will last so if you’re in the market for Lego it’s worth taking a quick look.

There are small and large savings, with, as I said, up to 50% off on some of the LEGO sets available.

The LEGO City Space Centre building set, for example, is half price, reduced from £50 to £25. This set is suitable for ages 6 – 12 and consists of 494 pieces.

There’s £10 off the LEGO Toy Story 3 Western Train which was £79.99 and is now £69.99. The Western Train features 4 cars with opening doors, roofs and even traps. This playset comes with four train cars including an engine, guard carriage, passenger and cargo carriage. Also featured are Evil Doctor Porkchop, Rex, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and Bullseye minifigures for you to play with. Built from 589 individual pieces, this Lego playset is suitable for children aged 8 years and up.

Another 50% off goes to the LEGO Star Wars Brickmaster which contains 240 bricks and two figures which makes up eight models. The book that comes with it is a 56-page hardback, and all this is reduced from £18.99 to £9.49.

Lego 50% Off Marked Price @ Wilkinson

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 24 December, 2011 at 11:00 am

Lego 50% Off Marked Price @ Wilkinson

There’s 50% off the marked price of Lego at Wilkinson at the moment, and I’m pretty certain stocks won’t last very long.

There’s a bargain to be had on some of these items – well, any Lego at 50% off is pretty noteworthy, but still, Lego City at half price is a winner.

You can find Lego City’s Harbour Kit for £31.99 complete with a crane to offload the grain, place it onto the conveyor and load it on the truck or the Police Unit Kit for £19.50. This kit comes with a police motorcycle, a car, three minifigs and a bunch of other accessories.

For the littlies, there are some savings to be had on Duplo too – the Duplo Big Farm Set is reduced to £23.75 and is a whopper of a set, what with the tractor, dairy truck, barn, farm animals, minifigs and a crane-hoist-thing that lifts bales of hay to the loft.

Small items, which I guess these are, would be delivered in three days at £4.95, or can be collected in store for free, four days after they’ve been ordered.

Pink Lego Princess Magical Castle £15 @ Amazon

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 18 December, 2011 at 11:00 am

Pink Lego Princess Magical Castle £15 @ AmazonAmazon has reduced the price of this Pink Lego Princess Magical Castle down from £29.99 to £15. Delivery is free with Amazon Prime. A nice little Christmas present or other gift for a girl who's into Lego. It's not quite as pink as it appears at first glance either. I like the effect of the white and purple, giving it a sort of frosted cake look.

Pink building bricks can be assembled and connected in many ways, to construct objects such as castles, cafes, buildings, and even toy horses. Anything constructed can then be taken apart again, and the pieces used to make other objects. The website says it is also comaptible with Lego, which you'd assume would be a given as it is a Lego set. I guess it always pays to check.

One reviewer on the website had this to say "What a lovely lego set for any little girl. Excellent value for money as they are being sold on Ebay for alot more. Bought this for my 7year old neice who loves it. Lots of pieces to allow hours of fun."

Lego Champion Game £14.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 December, 2011 at 8:00 am

Lego Champion Game £14.99 @ AmazonNow look, I've done all the Christmas present buying for my youngest, I don't need things like this Lego Champion game to tempt me into buying him any more!

My youngest loves playing with Lego, he has tons of the stuff in most of the various genres; I love playing with his Lego and we could have such fun playing the Lego Champion game but I'm going to stay strong, I'm NOT going to buy it for Christmas.

Maybe I could buy it now, as it's been reduced down to £14.99 from £24.99 (which really is too much of a bargain to let slip by), and stash it away in the cupboard and give to him for his birthday in July; I bought his first Christmas pressie back in July, so it's just a bit of a role reversal.

The Lego Champion game is for between three and eight players aged seven years and older; there are 216 puzzle pieces and the object of the game is get your micro figure around the board before anyone else.

You move ahead by performing tasks which are determined by the colour you roll on the Lego dice; each color corresponds to a particular Lego related task and in the Lego Champion game each task is based on the most familiar of all Lego pieces - the 2 x 4 rectangular block.

LEGO 2012 Calendar £3.49 @ Play.com

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 12 December, 2011 at 7:00 pm

LEGO 2012 Calendar £3.49 @ Play.com

Play.com have next year’s LEGO calendar on sale for £3.49, including free delivery – a £6.50 saving off the usual price of £9.99.

Here’s what the blurb tells us about the calendar: “…. …. … “. That’s right folks, a whole lot of nothing.

Using my master deduction skills (in other words, looking at the pictures), which may or may not prove to be accurate, there are 12 LEGO inspired images and, cleverly, that’s one for each month (yes, yes, I’m dripping with sarcasm.)

The images seem to range from scenes from LEGO City to LEGO Hero Factory, to something to do with surfers and I think a train station – the images aren’t that clear on the screen, but I’m sure they’ll be just great on the calendar.

It’s a month – to –view calendar so each page that opens up with one of the images and also has the month’s dates in boxes with enough space for you to make your notes on – assuming you have a pen that will show up on the dark background.

Apologies for the lack of much solid information here, I’m telling you what I know – but either way, for £3.49 I can think of at least one LEGO lover who’d be pleased to find this in his man-sized stocking come Christmas morning.

LEGO Star Wars 7915: Imperial V-Wing Starfighter £19.80 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 3 December, 2011 at 12:00 pm

LEGO Star Wars 7915: Imperial V-Wing Starfighter £19.80 @ AmazonApparently, according to my youngest son, you can never have too many LEGO Star Wars starfighters.

I mean, seriously, how many LEGO Star Wars starfighters does one little boy need?!  "ALL of them!" was the immediate answer to that question when I posed it last night, "How am I supposed to take over the galaxy if I only have a few?!"

I suppose he has a point and, "How am I supposed to pay the bills if I spend all my money on LEGO Star Wars starfighters for you?" was met with, "Get another job for money to pay the bills with!"

I toyed with the idea of suggesting I go on strike and demand more LEGO Star Wars things for my money, but thought better of getting into THAT debate with him - I'd lose!

SO, this LEGO Star Wars Imperial V-wing Stargfighter - it has 139 pieces, comes with an all-new Imperial pilot and Astromech droid R2-Q2 and it's wings rotate allowing you to switch it between flying and landing mode.

The recommended age range for the LEGO Star Wars Imperial V-Wing starfighter is between seven and 12-years-old (I think most LEGO Star Wars fans ignore those) and it measures 5” (12cm) wide, 9” (22cm) long.

Lego Technic 8067 Mini Mobile crane £14.99 @ Amazon

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 20 November, 2011 at 9:00 am

Lego Technic 8067 Mini Mobile crane £14.99 @ AmazonIt is a sad fact that as your children get older, their toys seem to get more expensive. I don't mind buying Lego as I know he gets a lot of use out of it, and it is a toy that will stay with him for many years to come. But really does it have to cost so much? So I am always looking out for it when sets come down in price. Like this Lego Technic 8067 Mini Mobile Crane, now £14.99 at Amazon, down from £20.99. Delivery is free with Amazon Prime.

This compact mobile crane is packed with functions and hard-core hauling power. According to the blurb on the website. You can steer it into position, then raise, lower, turn and extend the boom to lift heavy loads. Remember to extend the outriggers to stabilize it for extra big jobs. The crane will rotate through 360 degrees.

The Lego Mini Mobile Crane rebuilds into a tow truck. You can operate the arm of the tow truck and lower the hook to start hauling. Features realistic details and real rubber tires.

Mini Mobile Crane measures over 8' (20cm) long and 11' (28cm) tall. The set is suited to children aged 8 to 14 years. I'd say from experience that young Lego enthusiasts aged 6 or 7 would probably have a great time with this if they've got an equally enthusiastic adult to help.

LEGO Star Wars 7965 Millennium Falcon £89.11 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 12 November, 2011 at 12:00 pm

LEGO Star Wars 7965 Millennium Falcon £89.11 @ AmazonOH my goodness! Amazon are selling this LEGO Star Wars 7965 Millennium Falcon for £89.91, instead of £132.99 - I've never seen this large scale LEGO version priced this low before.

Seriously, if you WANT this LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon then buy it now - forget reading the rest of this post, the salient points are £89.11 (saving yourself £44 on the normal price), there's no delivery to pay and it's NOT an Amazon Deal of the Week so it's price could go up any time Amazon see fit to increase it.

I wish my youngest was a little older - he's five and a half - because if he was, this LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon would definitely be his major 'BIG' Christmas present.  He loves Star Wars, he loves LEGO Star Wars, he beat me in a lightsaber battle last night and won (I even have video to prove it).

The thing is, it would break my heart to buy this for him now, knowing that over time some of the 1,238 pieces would go missing; much as I'd love to build this LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon with him, he's just not ready for something quite this massive.

However, if YOU have a Star Wars fan who's ready to cope with such a mammoth build, and would love you forever if you bought it for them for Christmas, then here's the low-down:

It includes  six minifigures: Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Ben Kenobi, Princess Leia Organa and Darth Vader with assorted weapons. It has an opening hull, detailed interior, twin flick missiles, rotating laser cannons, detachable cockpit cover, chairs, cup, control panels and game board - just remember to let the Wookie win!

It's over 38cms wide and 10cms tall, has 1,238 pieces and will keep you/your child out of trouble for a fair few hours on Christmas day, and probably still see you building it on Boxing day too; awesome.

LEGO Star Wars Minifigure Clocks £19.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 3 November, 2011 at 12:00 pm

LEGO Star Wars Minifigure Clocks £19.99 @ ArgosOh for goodness SAKE!  Just when I think I'm done with Christmas presents for my youngest son, these LEGO Minifigure clocks come to my attention!  They look COOL and they currently have a cool 20% off at Argos too, bringing them down to £19.99 from £24.99.

Both clocks have a digital LCD display with backlight and an AM/PM indicator; there's the all-important snooze function too and come with the two AAA batteries they need to operate.

The LEGO Storm Trooper minifigure clock measures H23 x W14 x D8 cms, whilst the LEGO Darth Vadar minifigure clock is slightly 'deeper' at 9.5cms - I guess it was him who ate all the pies!

Both LEGO minifigure clocks come gift boxed and I can just picture one of them sitting by the side of my son's bed.  It's a tough call though - Darth Vadar or the Storm Trooper?  I'm leaning more towards the Storm Trooper to be honest, but that's only because Darth Vadar used to scare me when I was little.

Both are available to reserve and collect in-store, or you can pay £5.95 and have them delivered to your home.

Free Premium Pass With £120 Lego Purchase @ Legoland Windsor

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 29 October, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Free Premium Pass With £120 Lego Purchase @ Legoland Windsor

There’s a free Premium Annual Pass up for grabs at Legoland Windsor when you spend over £120 on Lego at the shop on site. As you can imagine there are a plethora of terms and conditions, but that’s kind of to be expected with such a lovely freebie.

We bought standard annual passes just a month ago and didn’t realise that Legoland actually shuts for 5 months of the year! Add that to all the ‘exclusion days’ that you can’t visit with a standard pass, I did wonder if we should get a Premium pass at the time. On reflection though, we realised that since neither of us like crowds, and aren’t likely to go on the crazy busy days anyway, the Standard pass was probably sufficient for us.

We did end up spending over £200 on Lego in the shop, however, so I’m a bit gutted that we spent all that money at that time, when we could easily have grabbed two free passes instead – and at least saved on parking when we do visit again.

So those T&C’s?

The offer is valid for a Legoland Premium Annual Pass, or can be used towards a Merlin Annual Pass – which is a massive saving on the Merlin Pass!

Your qualifying purchases must be from either the Lego Big Shop or Funky Fashions. You can shop in multiple transactions from either, but your purchases must be completed on the same day.

There’s a bit more you should know, so check out the full conditions, but I really think it’s a great deal and will wait in hope for it for next year!

LEGO XXL Box (1600 Pieces) £25.99 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 October, 2011 at 2:00 pm

LEGO XXL Box (1600 Pieces) £25.99 @ TescoI've just had a scout around the internet for you and it does seem that Tesco win a gold star for having the lowest price on this LEGO XXL Box, which contains 1,600 pieces.  They're selling it for £25.99 and I haven't found anywhere cheaper than £38.

What can I tell you about LEGO that you don't already know?  Not much I'd imagine, but let me see if you know these LEGO facts...just for some Saturday morning fun:

  • LEGO is an abbreviation of the two Danish words 'leg godt', which means 'play well
  • If you built a column of about 40,000,000,000 LEGO bricks, it would reach the moon
  • There are 915 million ways to combine six LEGO bricks
  • On average there are 62 LEGO bricks for every person on earth
  • Approximately seven LEGO sets are sold each seconds
  • Laid end to end, the number of LEGO bricks sold yearly would reach more than 5 times round the world
  • The bricks REALLY hurt when you tread on them!

So, did you learn anything new? You knew the last one though, I mean, EVERYONE knows that LEGO hurts like crazy underfoot...even with socks on!

Collect your LEGO XXL Box of 1,600 pieces in-store to avoid paying the rather OTT £5 home delivery charge.

LEGO Duplo Large Bricks Box £15 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 October, 2011 at 9:00 am

LEGO Duplo Large Bricks Box £15 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this box of large Lego Duplo Bricks again - £15, this time,  instead of £25.99.

I'm disappointed! Amazon have removed the 'Assemby required: yes' notice from their description blurb on the LEGO Duplo Large Bricks Box page - that always made me giggle, can you imagine playing with anything LEGO or Duplo that didn't require any assembly?

Inside the sturdy storage box you'll find 71 large Lego Duplo bricks including a block with wheels for budding car designers, a window for future architects to add to their houses, a chunky mini-figure and a random flower pot, plant type thing.

I'm not sure I'd pay £25.99 for them but £15 is much more of a palatable cost for introducing your child to the delights of building with blocks.

My youngest son spent many happy hours playing with LEGO Duplo before he moved on to standard sized LEGO. He dreamt up all sorts of amazing things to build, his imagination never ceased to amaze me. Me? I just liked building houses or castles, I still do - I think I must be a frustrated architect!

However, there can be time when imagination is, temporarily, lacking so tucked inside this LEGO Duplo Large Bricks Box is a little book of 'inspiration' to help you on your way; fabulous

There is currently an addition two-day delay for delivery, hopefully that won't be a huge drama for you.

LEGO Star Wars Watch £11.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 October, 2011 at 10:00 am

LEGO Star Wars Watch £11.99 @ ArgosIt's lethal writing for PlayPennies at this time of year!  Just when I think I've got all Christmas present shopping sewn up, I come across something else - like this LEGO Star Wars watch for £11.99, instead of £17.99, up for grabs over at Argos.

If you don't already know that my youngest son is a HUGE Star Wars, and LEGO Star Wars, fan then you're obviously pretty new to PlayPennies; welcome!

He's very into telling the time at the moment and keeping track of the various events he has filling up his hectic social schedule - he wants his OWN calendar to write his OWN things on for next year - and this LEGO Star Wars watch looks rather fun.

As you'd expect with LEGO, it's not just a watch, it's a watch you have to build yourself and this one comes with a Stormtrooper mini-figure too.

It features a yellow and white Stormtrooper dial, a black round plastic case,  a black and white plastic strap, rotating bezel, Quartz movement, is waterproof down to 50 meters (that's deep!) and also comes gift boxed.

There's also a Darth Vadar version if you'd prefer a member of the top brass, rather than one an Empire minion.

LEGO 2012 Calendar £5.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 October, 2011 at 12:00 pm

LEGO 2012 Calendar £5.99 @ AmazonIt's calendar time again and whilst I'm sorted with my Gruffalo 2012 Calendar, my youngest is after one of his own.  This year he wants to document his hectic social schedule (and it is hectic too!) on his own calendar; as he's a mad LEGO fan I'm thinking that this LEGO 2012 Calendar will fit the bill nicely.

It's usual retail price is £9.98 but, at the moment, Amazon are letting it go for £5.99 - half price, near as damn it.  Aside from it being LEGO which is, of course, worth a stack of parental brownie points this calendar will also help my son support his numbers, days of the week and months of the year learning.

It will also help him learn how to spell the names of family members by adding their birthdays to his LEGo 2012 Calendar, along with the things he does after school like, film club, football, swimming.  Anything that encourages reading, writing and learning gets a thumbs up in my book.

Of course, if YOU'RE the LEGO fan then you'll probably love this LEGO calendar just as much too.  There's not really much I can say about it that isn't blindingly obvious, but just for fun...

This LEGO 2012 Calendar has 12 pages and a front cover which, combined, feature 13 pictures of LEGO models and characters to help you keep track of all your events, birthdays, anniversaries, meetings and appointments coming up in 2012.  It also comes with a limited edition poster too; hurrah!

There!  How was that? The Supersaver delivery option is available so you don't have to pay anything to have your LEGO 2012 Calendar delivered.

Happy 2012 (even though it's somewhat early for all that Happy New Year stuff!).

Lego Ideas Book £4.99 @ The Book People

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 October, 2011 at 10:00 am

Lego Ideas Book £4.99 @ The Book PeopleThe Book People are selling this hardback Lego Ideas book for £4.99 instead of the £16.99 list price.  I've had a quick scout around the internet for you and I can't find it cheaper anywhere else; Amazon, for example, are selling it for £9.99.

I've spent a little bit of time reading the reviews for this Lego Ideas book and there are two distinct opinions that crop up over and over.

  1. It's rubbish because it doesn't have step-by-step instructions like the boxed models have and you'll need lots of bricks to build some of the models
  2. It's AWESOME! It provides inspiration for models and, because it doesn't have step-by-step instructions, allows for your own imagination and creativity to get to work rather than blindly following someone else's ideas

You'll have to decide which camp your child is likely to fall into.

My youngest has a ton of LEGO bits and pieces and already makes up his own models so this is something that he'd probably like, due to his not wanting to always follow the LEGO 'rules' set out by the model designer.

The book contains over 500 different model ideas and has tips from expert LEGO builders on how to make your jet planes even more supersonic, create fabulous fortresses and all sorts.

The book is divided into six themed chapters - transport, buildings, space, kingdoms, adventure and useful makes and if you'd like free delivery then enter 241PLUS into the promotion box at the checkout.
