Cherry The Cat Emotion Pet £15 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 May, 2013 at 10:00 am

Cherry The Cat Emotion Pet £15 @ AmazonThis Animagic Cherry the Cat emotion pet is currently up for grabs at Amazon for £15, her usual price is £59.99, and she's the cheapest emotion pet I've seen so far.

If your child is harassing you to get a cat, but you really can't give in, then Cherry the Cat might get them off your back...for a little while at least.

Cats have been part of my life since I was five years old, until recently that is. It was so strange not having a furry feline prowling around - SO strange, in fact, that seven months was enough and my husband and I rescued a little black cat from the local cat shelter - we've called him Bagheera and he really is a proper little mini black panther, with a passion for shredding tissues!

Cherry the Cat won't shred tissues, however, she'll just purr and swish her tail when your child strokes her back.  She moves, miaows, blinks her eyes and twitches her ears, and actually sounds rather cuddly and awesome.

I have to say, she looks a little moody and snooty, but then show me a cat who doesn't sometimes!

Chicco Rock N Roll Drum £9.99 @ Home Bargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 March, 2013 at 10:00 am

Chicco Rock N Roll Drum £9.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains are selling this Chicco Rock n Roll drum for 9.99, rather than its original £19.99 price.

I always feel rather nostalgic when I look at toys like this Chicco Rock n Roll drum, it just reminds me of when I my daughter was little - she'll be 18 this year; I'm not sure where that time went! - although I have to say, I wouldn't go back to the toddler years for love nor money.

One side of the Chicco Rock n Roll drum features a guitar, saxophone and drum button, which they can press to make their own 'music' (and I use that term loosely!), or turn it over and just play it like a regular drum.

It also has flashing lights to captivate the visual senses, and can be rolled across the floor for crawling and chasing purposes. It's suitable for little ones aged six months and older and whilst it comes with demo batteries, they're not going to last very long so you'll need to make sure you have two AA batteries in stock, otherwise you're going to have a cross little toddler on your hands.

Happy rocking n rolling!

Chicco 3 In 1 Lullaby Cot Activity Panel £19.99 @ Home Bargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 March, 2013 at 10:00 am

Chicco 3 In 1 Lullaby Cot Activity Panel £19.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains have reduced the price of this Chicco 3 in 1 lullaby cot activity panel down from £34.99 to £19.99.

The Chicco 3 in 1 lullaby cot activity panel has won the Mother and Baby Best Newborn Toy Silver, Practical Parenting Magazine Best Buy, and the Mother and Baby Best Nursery Item silver award, so it's got to have something going for it!

It has a double function - projecting soft, coloured lights in rhythm to classical and new age melodies, or relaxing nature sounds. It also works as a nightlight too.

Not only that, you can record your voice onto it and play it back to your little one - I'm not sure how long a recording you can make, it would be cool if it was long enough for a short story!

If you select sound sensor function, the Chicco 3 in 1 lullaby cot activity panel will automatically activate when your baby wakes up.  During the day, it can be used as an activity centre as well.

You can arrange to collect your Chicco 3 in 1 lullaby cot activity panel, for free, from your local Home Bargains store or you can pay them a few extra pennies - depending on how Home Bargains classify the parcel size will determine how many extra pennies you'll need to pay, but it won't be stupid amounts of them.

Happy la-la-lullabying!

Vtech My Laptop £7.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 February, 2013 at 9:00 am

Vtech My Laptop £7.99 @ AmazonA couple of weeks ago I told you that Argos were selling these very same Vtech My Laptop little laptops for £7.99, BUT they were only available in-store.  If your local Argos didn't have any stock, and you were disappointed, then you can cheer up now because Amazon have reduced their price down from £16.99 to £7.99 too.

Computers haven't been the reserve of adults working in offices for goodness knows how many years - your child(ren) will be using them the moment they get to school, so they might as well get a little head start now with something like one of these Vtech My Laptops.

Your young Bill Gates will learn early computer skills, age-appropriate curriculum, including phonics, numbers, logic and all sorts of other things like pattern recognition.  The mouse isn't right-hand biased either, so if you have a little' lefty' they won't find it awkward.

The only downside to this Vtech My Laptop - and I don't understand this at all - is that it doesn't come with a mains adapter! WHY would Vtech do that?  I can't find reference to a mains-power option anywhere so you're going to need 3AA batteries, and plenty of them - rechargeables are definitely going to be the way to go.

All of the usual Amazon delivery options are at your disposal - free if you're happy to wait for a few days, or a few extra of your hard-earned pounds if you want/need it a little quicker.

Tomy Hide And Squeak Eggs £4.49 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 8 February, 2013 at 9:00 am

Tomy Hide And Squeak Eggs £4.49 @ AmazonIf you're looking for a cute little toy for a cute little one, then take a look at these Tomy Hide and Squeak Eggs - Amazon are selling them for £4.49, rather than £6.99.

It's funny, you know, I was sure I'd written about Tomy's Hide and Squeak Eggs loads of times before but, having searched through the archives, it turns out that I'm imagining things as I've only written about them once before.

There are six eggs in an egg box and when you crack each one open, different coloured press-and-cheep chicks are revealed - I hope the cheeping doesn't drive you mad -  my daughter had a set of Tomy Quack-Along-Ducks when she was little.  They didn't have batteries you could replace, there wasn't an off switch and the internal battery lasted FOREVER!

Each egg has its own unique space in the egg box, thanks to their different shaped bottoms, so your child will have to work out which egg belongs in which hole in the box in order to put them all safely away until next time.

You don't need any batteries for your Hide and Squeak Eggs, they're suitable for little ones aged 12 months and older and well help them to develop their sorting and fine motor skills, and if you want to read one of the best reviews for a toy, ever, then read this one (there aren't any bad reviews for these Tomy Hide and Squeak Eggs, actually):

I bought these for my daughter in a charity shop initially.  Although they are suggested for 12m+, she loved them from 7m. At first she just held them and bashed them together, but something about them (colour? shape? I could never work out what) seemed to particularly appeal to her, and she favoured them over all her other toys.

Now she is 14m, and still loves them just as much, and has graduated to squeaking the chicks, and fitting the eggs together with their shells.  I can see they will continue to grow in play potential with her, as eventually she will figure out the bases of the eggs need to be 'sorted' into the box, and later still that the faces on the shells can be matched to the chicks. I have to say her nine-year-old cousin always volunteers to 'sort' them for her, just to be helpful, you understand!

I noticed any other babies or toddlers who were visiting seemed to be very keen on them, and have consequently given them as gifts on birthdays etc.  I really don't know what it is about the eggs, but babies seem quite transfixed by this particular toy.

I would highly recommend it for any baby or small child, it has lots play potential, which changes as the child grows and develops new skills. It represents eggsellent (sorry, couldn't resist that) value for money. It is also very compact, a great toy to stick in your bag when you are heading out on a visit, as it holds their attention for ages

Chicco Bilingual Talking Farm £19.53 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 31 January, 2013 at 9:00 am

Chicco Bilingual Talking Farm £19.53 @ ArgosArgos are selling this Chicco Bilingual Talking Farm for half its usual price - £19.53 instead of £39.99.

If you want to introduce your child to a second language right from the get-go - and I fail to understand why languages aren't taught right from when our kids start school, that way we'd have a much better foreign language speaking record than we do.  It's appalling that our children cannot even begin to match the language skills of their European counterparts.

I could rant on about that for hours, so I'd better get off my soapbox and tell you more about this Chicco Bilingual Talking Farm instead:  your child will learn to recognise animal names, sounds, colours and numbers in both English and German which, whilst doesn't sound pretty is quite easy to get the hang of.

It's bright, fun and colourful and I'm pretty sure you're going to need batteries for it , and if I could find any reference to that on the Argos site I'd be able to tell you which type you need, how many, and whether or not they're included.  But I can't, so I can't!

This is an online exclusive so you can't pop into your local Argos and collect your Chicco Bilingual Talking Farm; Argos will, however, deliver it to you for free.

Chicco My First Interactive Puppy £11.93 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 January, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Chicco My First Interactive Puppy £11.93 @ ArgosArgos are selling this very cute Chicco My First Interactive Puppy for half price - £11.93 rather than £24.99.

Awww, this little Chicco My First Puppy is just too cute for words!  When you brush, groom and stroke him, he'll fall asleep - he comes with own brush.  When he wakes up, feed him his interactive bone and he'll munch away.  Pat him with his brush, and he'll bark a happy little bark.  Of course, he's rather awesome for just cuddling too.

He's suitable for little wannabe pooch owners who are 12 months or older; he also requires two AA batteries which are included.

You can't arrange to pop into your local Argos to collect your Chicco My First Puppy, because he's not available for in-store collection.  However! The good news is, Argos will deliver him to you for free within four working days; hurrah!

Interactive Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles Play Mat £11.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 January, 2013 at 9:00 am

Interactive Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles Play Mat £11.99 @ ArgosArgos are selling this interactive Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles play mat for less than half price - £11.99, when it's usually £29.99.

You know, the only downside to your kids growing older is not having a valid excuse to watch programmes like Peppa Pig any more - I haven't watched Peppa for ages and feel a bit silly watching her by myself.

This interactive Peppa Pig play mat isn't your bog-standard type of play mat - it does 'things'.

There are four different modes of play - Colours, Peppa and Friends, Shapes and Numbers and Help Peppa Find - which are designed to help your child develop their shape, numbers and colour recognition skills and knowledge.

It measuresH38, W39.5, D7.4cm, is suitable for youngsters aged three years and over, and requires two AAA batteries which aren't included.

You won't be able to have your interactive Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles play mat delivered to your home, as it's not available for that at the moment, so use www.icheckstock.co.uk to help you track down your nearest Argos store that has stock.

Hello Kitty Electronic Talking Story Book £7.99 @ Home Bargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 November, 2012 at 10:00 am

Hello Kitty Electronic Talking Story Book £7.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains are selling this Hello Kitty Electronic Talking Story Book for £7.99 rather than £19.99.

I don't know any Hello Kitty fans young enough for this rather cute looking Hello Kitty Electronic Story Book - my youngest niece is a crazy Hello Kitty fan but she's five and the electronic storybook is suitable for youngsters aged one year and older.

Six electronic pages feature illustrated stories that are read by Hello Kitty - that's interesting interesting because, as far as I'm aware, Hello Kitty doesn't speak (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...I'm sure someone will!)

Anyway, within those stories she teaches the first letters of the alphabet, numbers and lots of new words.  Your little one can also listen to tunes and sing-along with Hello Kitty as she sings any of three happy songs.

The Hello Kitty Electronic Talking Story Book requires two AAA batteries, which are included, and will cost up to £2.99 to be delivered to your home.  Of course, if you live near a Home Bargains store then you can arrange to collect your book for free in-store.

Happy electronic storybooking!

Leapfrog My Pal Scout £13.49 @ TescoTesco Direct are selling the very cute Leapfrog My Pal Scout for £13.49 - his usual price is around the £19.99 mark.

This is the sort of thing my ex-mother-in-law would have bought my youngest son, Edward, for Christmas; he's a bit old for this sort of thing now but he would have loved playing with a Leapfrog My Pal Scout.

Matchbox Big Rig Buddies: Smokey The Fire Truck £29.99 @ Home Bargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 September, 2012 at 11:00 am

Matchbox Big Rig Buddies: Smokey The Fire Truck £29.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains are selling this Matchbox Big Rig Buddies: Smokey the Fire Truck for £29.99 - his usual full retail price is £69.99!

If you've got a fire engine/fire fighter obsessed youngster in your family then this Matchbox Big Rig Buddies: Smokey the Fire Truck may well be the Christmas present of the century for them, and you will be the most awesome parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle/family friend/whoever that the world has ever seen if you give him to them.

I've just watched the promotion video for Smokey the Fire Truck (it's on the Home Bargains page) and I want to play with him; he looks like the coolest, and most realistic, talking toy I've ever seen!

His mouth looks 'soft' and moves in a rather realistic fashion when he whichever of his 95 different phrases.  He promotes fire safety and fires blue balls (psuedo water) from his cannon; he has flashing lights and his front wheels move in and out when he talks which really adds to his animation.

I really urge you to watch both of the Smokey the Fire Truck videos (the first one is very American and cheesy, but quite funny in its own way) and then order your own Matchbox Big Rig Buddies: Smokey the Fire Truck.

This is such a good deal for an amazing looking fire truck toy; in fact, I'd probably be happy to pay full price for him, so £29.99 is an absolute steal and, I think, has to be my bargain of the day!

Happy fire trucking!

Sesame Street Rock On Elmo £25 @ Boots

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 3 August, 2012 at 10:00 am

Sesame Street Rock On Elmo £25 @ BootsThis is a FAB deal - definitely one to buy now and stash away for Christmas later!

Boots are selling Sesame Street Rock On Elmo for £25 instead of his enormous £74.99 full price - don't dawdle though, because once the Boots website clearly says 'once they're gone, they're gone'.

Click HERE to go and grab a Sesame Street Rock On Elmo

I wrote about Rock On Elmo close to Christmas last year and we all thought at £35.99 he was a bargain then.  I've haven't seen him reduced again until now and am quite surprised he's £10 cheaper than last year, so I'd strike while he's still in stock if you have a young Elmo fan in your family.

Rock  On Elmo has his very own microphone and two instruments to play - a tambourine and a drum set.

Your young Elmo fan can choose which instrument Elmo plays, and he recognizes which one you give him; they can even play along Let's Rock Elmo's instruments too, as they're small enough for little hands.

Let's Rock Elmo can play more than just two instruments; there are other Let's Rock instruments available and he will interact with those too, so if you're playing the Let's Rock Guitar, Keyboard or Microphone, he'll play along with you.

Let's Rock Elmo can sing as well - seriously, Elmo is just cool!  He sings six 'rockin' songs' for your young rock chick or dude to groove along to.

Let's Rock Elmo comes with the six AA batteries he needs and is suitable for little rockers aged between 18 months and about four years.

Animagic Toffee Electric Pony £30 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 February, 2012 at 12:00 pm

Animagic Toffee Electric Pony £30 @ DebenhamsThis Animagic Toffee Electric Pony is currently half price at Debenhams; his usual price is £60, you can take him home for £30 and there's nothing extra to pay for delivery either.

I've grown up with horses; I started riding when I was four-years-old and have been in love with the long-tailed, four-legged, pointy-eared beasts ever since.  When I was little I couldn't get enough of horses and ponies and would have loved one of these Animagic Toffee ponies to play with when I was away from my real one (his name was Minder).

I know his eyes look a bit demonic in the picture but, trust me, your pony-crazy child won't notice that!  Instead, they'll just love that Toffee sways his head, blinks his eyes, wiggles his ears and neighs.

He also chews when you feed him carrots, falls asleep when he's tired and when he gets scared his ears tremble; wow, even at my age I still think I'd love one a Toffee pony of my own.

Animagic Toffee pony needs four AA batteries, which aren't included and he's suitable for young equestrians aged two years and over.

Whilst there's nothing to pay to have your Animagic Toffee Pony delivered to your home, you still have the choice to go and collect him from your nearest Debenhams store if you prefer.

Leapfrog Scribble And Write £16.51 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 9 December, 2011 at 9:00 am

Leapfrog Scribble And Write £16.51 @ AmazonThe reviews are so good for this Leapfrog Scribble and Write that even paying only just a little bit less than the full retail price is worth it.

The usual Leapfrog Scribble and Write price is £19.99, Amazon have taken 17% off which brings the price down £16.51 and it's appropriate for children aged three years and over and the three AA batteries it needs are included.

If you're looking for an educational toy that provides just as much fun as learning, then you really won't go wrong with something from Leapfrog and this Scribble and Write looks just the ticket for little ones getting to grips with writing.

To 'play' with the Leapfrog Scribble and Write all your child needs to do is trace the lights and practice drawing simple shapes and pictures.  When they've mastered those basics they can move on to learning upper- and lowercase letters with step-by-step guidance from the Leapfrog Scribble and Write.

There are also fun learning games to help reinforce letter recognition and pencil control skills and the Leapfrog Scribble and Write is nice and portable so you can take it out and about with you without feeling like you're going out with everything including the kitchen sink.

Little Charley Bear - Goodnight Little Charley Bear £11.50 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 December, 2011 at 10:00 am

Little Charley Bear - Goodnight Little Charley Bear £11.50 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this Goodnight Little Charley Bear for £11.50 instead of £22.99.

I haven't watched little kids' TV for ages; my youngest son is very into Garfield and Scooby Doo at the moment and is a 'grown-up' for Little Charley Bear now, so I went off and did a quick bit of investigating.

I've just watched a clip of Little Charley Bear on his website and he is CUTE! I can't imagine any little one in the target age range not being utterly enthralled - I was!

This Goodnight Little Charley Bear will, I'm sure, very quickly become a favourite bedtime companion and could be used to persuade little ones, who have decided that sleep is NOT cool, to go to bed and stay there.

When Goodnight Little Charley Bear is awake, he talks to himself (interesting, as he doesn't talk in the TV programmes) but as soon as you lay him down he closes his eyes and starts to snore.

I think Goodnight Little Charley Bear is utterly adorable and a bit of a bargain for £11.50; he also comes with the three LR44 batteries that he needs too.

Chicco Count With Me Teddy will help teach your child their first numbers and first words in English and French.  When they press the bright buttons on his tummy, he'll sing nursery rhymes, count and reveal names of various fruits and animals. He has interactive buttons on his paws too and if Chicco Count With Me Teddy is turned upside down he'll giggle.

Let's Rock Elmo £39.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 November, 2011 at 11:00 am

Let's Rock Elmo £39.99 @ PlayOhhhh, I love Elmo! He's just too cute and I've got a great deal on this Let's Rock Elmo for you: his usual retail price is a rather staggering £69.99 but Play are currently letting him go for just £39.99.

Just in case you were wondering how the other usual suspects compare, I can tell you that Amazon are selling him for £44.99, Toys R Us - £49.99, and Debenhams and Argos coming in as the most expensive at £56 (add 99 pence on for Argos).

Let's Rock Elmo comes with his very own microphone and two instruments for him to play - a tambourine and a drum set.  Your young Elmo fan can choose which instrument Elmo plays, and he recognizes which one you give him; they can even play along Let's Rock Elmo's instruments too, as they're small enough for little hands.

Let's Rock Elmo isn't a two-instrument trick pony though, ohhhh no - he can play and interact with other Let's Rock instruments too (these are sold separately); he knows when you're playing the Let's Rock Guitar, Keyboard or Microphone and will play along with you.

Let's Rock Elmo can sing too - seriously, is there no end to his talents?! - he sings six 'rockin' songs' (I have no idea what they are - but can't imagine there's any thrash metal in there somehow) for your young rock chick or dude to groove along to.

Let's Rock Elmo comes with the six AA batteries he needs and is suitable for little rockers aged between 18 months and about four years.

Vtech Playtime Bus With Phonics £12.45 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 November, 2011 at 9:00 am

Vtech Playtime Bus With Phonics £12.45 @ DebenhamsI wrote about this Vtech Playtime Bus with Phonics last week.  It was on sale at Argos, but is back to full price with them now - so, just in case you missed it, here it is now on sale at Debenhams.

They've reduced it down from £25 to £15 (you'll need to enter the promotion code I'm going to give you to drop the price to £12.45) and, having had a quick scout around, that seems to be the lowest price available at the moment - Play are the closest with a selling price of £17.20 and Amazon are selling it for £24.95.

With big chunky alphabet buttons this Vtech Playtime Bus will help your child get to grips with their letters and phonics; if they're not quite ready for that learning curve just pressing them will teach cause and effect.

When the passenger buttons are pressed they say funny things and there are other sounds too, that kids will love - a horn, brakes and revving engine noises, along with music and all that usual malarkey.

The Vtech Playtime Buss takes 2 AA batteries, which Vtech have very kindly included, and is recommended for kiddies aged between one and three.

To drop the price down to £12.45, simply enter code: KG92 into the promotion code box in your basket; delivery to your local store for free collection will take four days.

Now, see what you make of this - having just read the Debenhams delivery page, it would seem to suggest that all deliveries within the UK and NI are free (excluding items from certain departments); YOU have a read and tell me if I'm understanding it correctly or just going mad: Debenhams delivery info.

Leapfrog My Pal Scout £9.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 11 November, 2011 at 10:00 am

Leapfrog My Pal Scout £9.99 @ AmazonI've written about this cute LeapFrog My Pal Scout before; I've never seen him this cheap though! He usually sells for £19.99 but Amazon are currently letting him go to new homes for £9.99.

If ignore my loathing for electrical toys that beep and sing a me, then I can safely say that I'm a bit of a fan of LeapFrog toys; you really won't go wrong with anything Leapfrog if you're looking for a present for someone little.

Their educational value is fantastic; their fun value is just as good and their build quality and value for money is excellent. Here's what the Leapfrog My Pal Scout has to offer whoever you're thinking about buying this for...

My Pal Scout is a rather adorable little interactive puppy who connects to the computer; you can tailor him to the desires and wishes of your child through music customisation and personalise learning by programming My Pal Scout with your child's name, favourite food, animal and colour.

Leapfrog My Pal Scout comes with five, pre-loaded songs. If your little one is a bit of a music fan for whom five songs just isn't going to be enough, you can download more learning tunes and lullabies from an online list of 30 songs. His learning skills include first words, daily routines, early number sense, feelings and emotions, and animals.

Leapfrog My Pal Scout has icons on his paws which indicate what each one does. There's an activities paw - Scout will talk to your child about their favourite things, count hiccups and play pretend games. One paw plays daytime music and another the night time lullabies (My Pal Scout will play up to 10 minutes of these to lull your child off to sleep) and the last paw is the power off paw.

My Pal Scout speaks with a British voice, comes with the 3xAA batteries he needs and is recommended for children who are six months or older.
