Aeroplane Inflatable Ball Pit £3.98 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 July, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Aeroplane Inflatable Ball Pit £3.98 @ TescoTesco Direct are selling this Aeroplane Ball Pit for £3.98 instead of £4.90; yes I know it's only a pound off but, let's face it, even the full price isn't going to break the bank.

Not only that, the other ball pits on the Tesco Direct website are around the £15 mark, so this is a nice little price for a little ball pit.

Let me see what I can tell you about it, not much that you won't be able to figure out for yourself.

Here we have a little inflatable pit in the shape of an aeroplane.

You’ll need to inflate it yourself  - you choose to do this with an appropriate pump (no nipping off to your local petrol station and using the air line!) or using your own lung power.

When that's done, you can fill the inflated aeroplane with colourful, round plastic balls.  If you really want to ring the changes and detour away from the manufacturers intended use, you could always fill it with water to create a little splashing pool.

OK, so I'm hamming things up a bit but, seriously, how much can you say about an Aeroplane ball pit?

I've scooted through all the reviews and trawled around the Tesco site, but I can’t find ANY information anywhere to suggest whether the Aeroplane ball pit comes complete with plastic balls or not – hopefully it’ll be clear on the box, so when you collect it from your local Tesco (as there’s NO point paying £5 for home delivery) you can pick up some balls if not.

The age range for the Aeroplane ball pit is 2 years onwards; not sure why not younger than 2 years old, I can’t see any small parts or reason why younger littlies couldn’t enjoy this too.

Chad Valley Garden Limbo £2.49 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 24 May, 2011 at 11:00 am

Chad Valley Garden Limbo £2.49 @ ArgosI love this Chad Valley Garden Limbo!

Years and years ago we used to have family Boxing Day parties at my nan's; all the aunts, uncles and cousins would get together (often in fancy dress) and indulge in lots of fun, games and general family frivolity.

Among some of the silly games we used to play (kids and grown-ups alike) was Limbo.

Our Limbo 'set' wasn't as sophisticated or refined as the Chad Valley Garden Limbo; ours, when it got too low to comfortably hold, was two dining room chairs and a bamboo cane from my granddad's garden shed!

But it was so much fun and I'm actually rather tempted by this Chad Valley Garden Limbo, especially as it's such a cute little deal - £2.49 instead of £4.99.

It's made from PVC, is quick and easy to inflate and will provide hours of fun in the garden, or indoors if the weather is being less than cooperative.

It's 141cms high and 145cms wide and is suitable for little ones aged three and over - it wouldn't really be Limbo for littlies younger than that, more like 'just toddle under this inflatable thing in my garden' and THAT doesn't sound like much fun at all.

Chad Valley Garden Limbo is available for home delivery, but at £5.95 please just pop down to your local Argos and collect it in-store for free instead.

Thomas The Tank Engine Pool £14.99 @ eBay Littlewoods Clearance Outlet

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 May, 2011 at 9:00 am

Thomas The Tank Engine Pool £14.99 @ eBay Littlewoods Clearance OutletThe Littlewoods eBay Clearance Outlet are selling this Thomas the Tank Engine pool for £14.99; the catalogue price is £30 and the cheapest elsewhere, online, seems to be around the £25 mark.

If you have a little Thomas fan then this Thomas the Tank Engine pool will bring a HUGE smile to their little faces, along with lots of harassment to go out and splash around in it in the garden even when it's raining (well if they're anything like mine used to be anyway!).

Failing that you could always bring it inside and use it as a ball pool instead of one that involves getting anything, and everything, within a 10-foot radius soaking wet.

It's brand new, it's approximately 126cms x 99cms and there's no delivery charges to pay either, so £14.99 is all you're going to pay.

The Thomas the Tank Engine pool is suitable for littlies aged three years or over and, unless you already have a pump for blowing things up, you're going to have to put your lungs to work to inflate it.

In my experience, things like this tend to sell out quite quickly...just a friendly word to the wise.

My First Bouncy Castle £20 @ Tesco Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 April, 2011 at 12:00 pm

My First Bouncy Castle £20 @ Tesco DirectTesco Direct are selling this rather cute little My First Bouncer bouncy 'castle' for £20 instead of £30.

Kids love to bounce and bouncy castle - even if they're not in the shape of a castle, I can't help calling them 'castles' - are too much fun; I still love bouncing on them at any given opportunity, not that that arises very often you understand.

So what you have here is a little round bouncy base that has an inflatable wall around it to stop your little one from bouncing off it and onto the grass.  Just looking at it again, there's no reason why it couldn't be used indoors too if the weather was being less than cooperative as it's not huge - it measures 100cm in height and 130cm in depth and width.

The minimum age range guide is 2 years old, the maximum weight is 40kgs (no bouncing on it for me then!) and the reviews are excellent.

"Great Fun, bigger than I thought it would be. Has a doorway hole in one side so your toddler can get in and out by themselves."

"The sides are great if the child leans against them, they give support and do not allow the child to fall over."

One reviewer did mention that this my first bouncy castle can take a little time to blow up and that they're considering buying an electric pump - see how you go, but it sounds like a good idea to me.

Happy Hopperz Review

by Sarah Macdonald in Reviews on 23 November, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Happy Hopperz ReviewHands up who LOVED bouncing around on Space Hopperz as a kid? *shoots my hand up!*

They could be a bit tricky to sit on though if you didn't get the angle just right, I seem to recall, although it has been many years since I boinged up and down on one!So feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, or perhaps my technique was just a bit naff.

Happy Hopperz ReviewMuch excitement greeted the Happy Hopperz Zebra when he arrived at PlayPennies HQ - would there be any chance at all that we'd be able to have a go without risking serious injury to him...?

After much debate and deliberation we decided 'no', So we sent him off to two PlayPennies mums to be loved, and tested, by those small enough not to squash him beyond recognition!

Our first mum, Tracy, had this to say about the Happy Hopperz zebra...

"My daughter fell in love with the Happy Hopperz Zebra from the moment he bounced through the door!" Tracy told us, "She named him 'Stripey Dude' and he became one of the central figures in all her Toy Story 3 games."

There are lots of Happy Hopperz characters to choose from, from pink and blue cows, orange dogs, through to red reindeers (ideal with Crimbo coming up!) and they have lovely flat backs to sit on...no having to perch precariously atop anything egg-shaped.

"When I read 'inflates in five breaths' I thought to myself 'uh huh, yeah, of COURSE it does!'" confessed Tracy.

"But it REALLY does; I was amazed! Having said that, re-sealing it is hard as the stopper seal thingy is under the stomach and I kept losing most of the air in the process. That was quite frustrating, but I got there in the end and felt rather victorious."

Happy Hopperz ReviewWe wanted to know what it was like to bounce on!

All kids love to bounce, it almost seems to be a subconscious response: sit on something, test it for bounciness properties!

"The Happy Hopperz Zebra was robust enough to withstand my four-year-old daughter bouncing on it with ever-increasing enthusisam!" revealed Tracy, "She utterly adored him and we were both rather sorry to see him go."

The next family eagerly awaiting their chance to have a Happy Hopperz as part of the household, was Jess and her two boys, Elliot (almost three) and Rufus (just turned one).

"The zebra has become a very special friend in our family," Jess told us, "both the boys really enjoy playing with it in all manner of ways from its intended use as a bouncer, to Elliot making a nest for it."

Happy Hopperz ReviewJess really liked the shape of the Happy Hopperz, see...there's merit in not having to perch on something round!

"It's a great shape and very easy to blow up and whilst Rufus might be a little small for bouncing on it at the moment, he will get a lot of use from it in years to come."

And finally...

Whether you choose a blue cow, an orange dog, pink rabbit or a zebra Happy Hopperz, they all cost the same - £21.99 plus p&p.

What did our mums think of the price point for these bouncy guys?

Well, both Jess and Tracy felt they were maybe a little expensive if you just took the figure at face value, "They are definitely something you'd buy as a special present, rather than just something you'd pick up 'just because'," commented Jess.

"Perhaps a little expensive, but when you consider the sheer amount of use and abuse it's going to get, it's pretty good," concluded Tracy.

Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centre £16.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 July, 2010 at 10:00 am

Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centre £16.99 @ ArgosBouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy,  fun-fun-fun-fun! That's what Tigger would say if he had one of these Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centres!

Good old Argos have reduced this Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centre from £29.99 to £16.99 which makes it an inexpensive addition to your summer garden toy collection, and another weapon in your arsenal against summer holiday boredom.

It's not huge so it won't dominate your enitre backyard green space, but will be big enough to keep your little toddler amused for hours and hours.

They can bounce around on the inside, slide down the little slide to the outside and play 'hoopla' trying to get the inflatable rings over the erm - what would you call them..? - I don't know...sticky-out-bits? Inflatable spikes? Well, whatever the technical term, kids love all of these things so a Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centre is bound to be a big hit!

When it's inflated it measures (H)178, (W)160, (D)160cm.  It's suitable for kids aged three years and over and has a maximum weight limit of 70kgs (oooh, I could play on it!) and it's made of PVC.

If you've got a foot-operated pump, you'll get a good vigorous leg workout inflating this thing. If you haven't, then my goodness I hope you've got lungs made of iron - failing that, perhaps consider buying an electical pump...it's just a suggestion!

Sea Turtle Boat £8.44 @ The Hut

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 May, 2010 at 10:00 am

Sea Turtle Boat £8.44 @ The HutHA!  I'm totally in love with this sea turtle boat!

Until recently I've always lived on the coast and during the summer, weekends and school holidays were always spent on the beach.  I've got many fond memories of waiting impatiently for my mum to blow up all of the various inflatable things we'd dutifully carried along with our buckets and spades, the feeling of warm sand between your toes and that wonderful smell of salty water filling the air.

Back in the day we just had a normal rubber dinghy and, without wanting to sound ungrateful, this sea turtle boat would have been MUCH cooler - just look at him, he's a groovy looking dude!

He's got two air chambers and when he's fully inflate he measures a whopping 203cm x 150cm.  The oar locks are 'welded' on but the oars aren't included so if you're intending to row anywhere you'll have to buy some.

The blurb says he's suitable for ages six and over but let's get real here, I wouldn't let a six year old loose on the high seas in, or on, anything inflatable on their own and if I'm right there then my four-year-old is going to be perfectly safe in this too.

The published price on The Hut website is £9.33; use this code - POOL15 - to drop that down to £8.44.

Happy 'sailing'!
