This is a really pretty and admittedly girly tent, that comes with minimal effort on the setting up front and I could just picture my girls having hours of fun with this Foxglove Fairy Tent from The Pop Up Co.

The tent is ideal as a base for imaginative play according to the blurb, and is ideal for indoor and outdoor use. There’s also a flower style flag that can be popped on the top to complete the look, and it all comes with a carry bag for easy storage and transport.

There aren’t any reviews, and I’ve never used Mail Order Express before, but this is very sweet and the picture makes me look forward to seeing my girls playing together like that in a few years!

Tool Carrycase £5.39 @ Amazon

Tool Carrycase £5.39 @ Amazon

Amazon have 40% off the Tool Carrycase from Peterkin, selling at £5.39 instead of £8.99, with free delivery.

I quite like this, but –predictably – would prefer it in wood. My husband made a good point though: If our two-year-old took a wooden hammer to the glass sliding door, the effects might be rather less than good, but with a plastic set, that wouldn’t be a problem! So I’m considering it as my daughter loves playing with Daddy’s tool kit.

This Tool Carrycase comes in an apparently hard wearing plastic carrycase, and contains 13 pieces, including a workbench top, workbench legs, a saw, a T-rule, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, two nuts, two bolts and two pegs.

The wrench has a screw adjuster to fit any size bolt, and the moving sliding square shows both centimetres and inches. The saw also has a moving part.

It’s recommended for children 3 – 6 years old, and is in chunky sizes and bright colours, perfect for small hands and big imaginations.

Peppa Pig Dressing Table @ Argos

by Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 12 April, 2010 at 4:00 pm

This super-cute kids deal is a Princess Peppa Pig dressing table with stool is £16.99 at Argos right now, down from £29.99, saving you a rather lovely £13.00.Peppa Pig Dressing Table @ Argos

The brightly coloured dressing table will delight little Peppa fans but seems really functional too. It comes with a battery-operated hairdryer and loads of other accesories, too.

It also features a light-up mirror, and it plays fun Peppa Pig sounds as well as the unmistakable Peppa theme tune. I predict that could get seriously irritating to parents, though children are bound to adore it. It requires 5 x AA batteries which - impressively - are included so I suppose you could always, ahem, 'lose' the batteries if all the noise gets too much.

There are 9 reviews by Argos customers and they're all positive. They score the item 4.7 stars out of a possible 5 and most seem to agree that it is delightfully easy to assemble which is always a plus.

At £16.99 it seems like a good price for an item that is both fun and functional.

It's suitable for ages 3 years and over.

Toy Wooden Kitchen £78 @GLTC

by Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 31 March, 2010 at 11:00 am

GLTC have some cracking children's toys lurking in the clearance section of their Toy Wooden Kitchen £78 @GLTCwebsite just now.

This wooden country kitchen washing machine is a stylish but practical twist on the usual plastic varieties of toy kitchens and at £39.00 (down from £65.00) it's a pretty reasonable alternative.

The matching sink is the same price, which means both items can be yours for £78.00 instead of the usual £130.

The sink measures 53cmH x 43cmW x 36cmD and comes complete with a checked splashback and a useful, realistic storage cupboard beneath the sink.

If my lads are anything to go by, little boys love playing kitchens just as much as little girls do (and why shouldn't they?) but they also love wrecking things - so wooden versions definitely appeal to me - much sturdier and altogether less likely to be yanked apart and turned into a fort or a pirate ship!

Toy Wooden Kitchen £78 @GLTCThese wooden kitchen toys are definitely at the higher end of the price scale than many of the plastic versions but at these clearance prices they could make a lovely  treat for a birthday boy or girl. Or if you're inclined to start your Christmas shopping early, it's worth picking these up  while they're at this price and putting them away. Who knows, they might even work as bribes for keeping little people on their best behaviour for the rest of the year!
