Use these H&M online promotional codes to get £5 off your order, and a discount of 25%. The £5 off code has been around for ages - we wrote about it a year ago. But it is still working. As there's no expiry date, I've no way of knowing how long it will last though. But the two codes together make a great combo, so use them if you can and need to.

According to the Ts & Cs, you can't use the 25% off code with any other offers, and it only applies to one item in your bag. I tested it out on a jumper priced at £24.99. The 25% off code took that down to £18.99, and with delivery of £2.90 and the £5 off code applied the final total came to £17.64.

I tested the code on a boy's nylon jacket. This was priced at £14.99. The 25% off code took this down to £11.24, and then another £5 came off this as well bringing the total to £6.24. You need to factor in delivery costs of £3.90 however.

The first code knocked the delivery down to £0, and took £2 off the total. The second code took another £5 off making it £12.98 delivered.

One thing that annoys me about the site at the moment is that if you make a mistake, or enter a code incorrectly, it doesn't tell you. All that happens is you get a message saying that there's a £6 minimum and you're sent back to the Shopping Bag page. This happened to me because I entered three codes - there is a two code limit apparantly.

I had to actually clear my shopping bag and start again. Even though I could see that I clearly had more than £6 in there it wouldn't let me through. Hopefully they'll get this glitch sorted soon!

I tested the codes out on two items in the sale. A boys Natural White Jumper, reduced to £7.99 from £14.99 and a Rugby Shirt, reduced from £12.99 to £9.99. This came to a saving of £10 over the original sale price. The first code took the total deduction up to £15, and with the 25% off this came to £17.50. Overall, with the delivery of £3.90, my order came to £14.38.

I'm not saying that we'll get the usual wet summer. Hopefully, that lovely Easter holidays we just had is a taste of things to come. But there's Spring and Autumn, and a lightweight water proof jacket is still a must in this country's climate. This shell jacket was originally £24.99 at H&M. It has been reduced to £17.99 in the sale, and by using the code 1304, you can get another £5 off. Taking the total to £12.99.

Delivery on the site is £3.90. So the total delivered is £16.89. It is available in sizes up to 7 to 8 years, and comes in pink, with fun spots, or blue with sort of outer space spotty design.

The shell jacket has a detachable hood, with a zip and velcro fastening at the front. Side pockets have a zip, and the jacket has a reflective piping at the top and reflective detail at the back. The lining is jersey. The website says that it is "functional windproof and water-repellent fabric with lapped seams".

The jackets look fairly well made and comfortable. I think they'll keep young ones warm and dry on wet and windy days. Oh dear I think I'm tempting fate here though! Really I'm hoping that this will be a bad buy because son won't get more than couple of days use out of it before he grows out of it! Could we really have a summer as good as that though? Touch wood we will.

Without an instore pick-up option though, this code is really only useful if you're doing a large enough shop to justify the £3.90 delivery charge.

To get a reminder you need to enter not just your email address but your customer number. Now I've only bought from H&M once, and have no idea where I put the paperwork that came with the items. File 13 probably! Nor could I find the emails I received. On top of that there seemed to be no way on the site to find out what your customer number was! Finally I simply tried to register again using my email address - and this time the site helpfully provided my customer number as it reminded me that I had already registered.
