Angel Cat Sugar Review

by Sarah Macdonald in Reviews on 14 March, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Angel Cat Sugar ReviewI'll be honest, I'm not a Hello Kitty fan and was a bit nonplussed when I saw my name scheduled for this Angel Cat Sugar review.

Angel Cat Sugar is a new cat phenomenon with an ever-increasing celebrity following - Fearne Cotton, Pixie Lott, Claudia Schiffer, Dannii Minogue, Tess Daly and Alexander Burke, to name a few (I kid you not!) - designed by the creator of the insanely popular Hello Kitty, Yuko Shimizu

I duly popped over to angelcatsugar.com to find out what all the fuss was about and fell in LOVE!  Not necessarily with all the products but with the story of how Angel Cat Sugar came into being and what she's 'about' - she's  a white cat who has angel wings and lives to spread love and happiness throughout the world.

The inspiration behind Angel Cat Sugar is explained by Yuko Shimizu, on the Angel Cat Sugar website, and it's a beautiful story...

Hello Kitty Stationary £2.99 @ Game

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 March, 2012 at 11:00 am

Hello Kitty Stationary £2.99 @ Game

Hello Kitty Stationary from Gacha is on offer at Game for £2.99. There’s no indication of what it was before it was £2.99, but I found it elsewhere for £6.95 plus almost £4 postage, while postage from Game to any UK address is free of charge, so it sounds like a great price to me.

I have yet to meet a girl who doesn’t like decorating her school books and being creative in her personalisation of her space – (admittedly I don’t know too many girls of school age these days, but I used to be one, so I ‘m going on that memory here!)

The Hello Kitty Stationary from Gacha features six products for organising, sorting and decorating your paper work. The set contains 6 different mini items, including six organiser clips, 40 stickers, 3 erasers or one of three decorative tapes with dispensers.

The only down side is that these are ‘blind packed’, which means the goodies are packed randomly in capsules, and you’ll get three capsules with one item inside each, but there’s no knowing what you’ll get in your capsules. Still it’s not a bad price and you could probably risk going for two or more if you were really hoping for the whole set.

Multiprint House of Hello Kitty Figurine Dolls 1p @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 13 February, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Multiprint House of Hello Kitty Figurine Dolls 1p @ Amazon

I’m not sure if this is a glitch in Amazon’s system or not, and I don’t suppose it’ll be round for very long, but for those of us that manage to grab it, this is a steal. Usually retailing at £19.99, there’s pretty much 100% off the Multiprint House of Hello Kitty Figurine Dolls, selling at 1p – but there’s £4.62 shipping to consider as it's a marketplace seller. Even so - £4.63 for what would have been £24.62 is not bad going, in my book.

You can also get it Amazon for £10.26, including delivery, which is still 49% off.

So, what is it? Well, it’s a stamping kit, with seven Hello Kitty designs, in a Hello Kitty ‘house’. There’s an ink pad built into the clip on lid, and the box is more than just packaging – you can actually use it for storage.

The grammar in the description is a bit off, it’s dispatched from an Amazon seller (which I’ve never had any problems with!) and there’s a hefty postage fee, but for a Hello Kitty fan, this could make a lovely gift. I know my two year old is loving using stamps at the moment,  and I think these would be a hit!

Hello Kitty Sweet Candy House Playset £23.90 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 5 February, 2012 at 9:00 pm

Hello Kitty Sweet Candy House Playset £23.90 @ AmazonThis really sweet looking – no pun intended – Hello Kitty Sweet Candy House Playset is reduced from £39.99 to £23.90, a 40% saving.

Did you know that Hello Kitty had a twin sister? Her name is Mimmy, apparently and the sisters come together in this play set.  You can open the Sweet House, which divides into three sections and is made up of five rooms.

The large central room makes a great place for the cake shop, where you can load up the cart and take it out to sell all the pastries.

There are two rooms ideal for sleeping complete with beds and lamps.  There are stairs leading up to the balcony above the kitchen, surrounded by a railing made of plastic pretzels.

Each room is fully decorated with wall paper, and the house is apparently loaded with 35 bits of furniture and accessories.

Oh, and, as an added incentive, spend £10 or more on Toys, Games or Baby products sold by Amazon.co.uk and receive £2 MP3 credit to try out their MP3 Downloads Store.

Hello Kitty Ready Bed £20 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 16 December, 2011 at 9:00 am

Hello Kitty Ready Bed £20 @ DebenhamsDebenhams have reduced the price of this Hello Kitty ready bed by half, making it £20 instead of £40.

Ready beds are fabulous inventions, there when you need them and not when you don't - oh if only there were more things in life like ready beds *wink*

You don't need anything 'extra' if you have a Hello Kitty ready bed ready and waiting for your little Hello Kitty fan - no blanket, no pillow, no duvet as it's already included.

There's no need for extra pillows, there's no need for extra blankets, duvets or duvet covers because the bed already has them - it didn't take a genius then to come up with the catchy, and original, title of 'ready bed'!

If your young Hello Kitty fan is having a friend over to stay, you simply whip out your Hello Kitty ready bed and blow it up with the pump, that's included, and ta-daaaa,  one ready bed ready.

The Hello Kitty ready bed measures  170 x 67 x 20 cm, the cover is machine washable and there's a quick deflation valve too when you're ready to pack it all away again.

Delivery to your local Debenhams is free as is the standard four-working-day delivery to your home.

Hello Kitty My Favourite Things Pocket Library £2.49 @ Red House

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 November, 2011 at 11:00 am

Hello Kitty My Favourite Things Pocket Library £2.49 @ Red HouseAhhh this Hello Kitty 'My Favourite Things' Pocket Library collection looks cute; it would make a lovely little stocking filler for a young girly getting ready to get to grips with the magical world of books and reading.

I really like these pocket libraries - my youngest son still, at five-and-a-half like quickly flicking through his Bob the Builder Pocket Library books - they are perfect for titchy ones who are just beginning to get inquisitve about books and reading.

This  Hello Kitty 'My Favourite Things' Pocket Library collection contains five little board books, featuring the cute little kitten who only seems to increase in popularity, and will introduce your daughter/niece/granddaughter/great-granddaughter * (*delete as applicable!)  to some of Hello Kitty's favourite things, from exploring, dressing up and fun and games to her friends and - of course - the colour pink.

The books are easy to keep together in their own little slip case and I love how the spines create a little Hello Kitty picture when they're arranged in the correct order - great for the early development of pattern recognition and fine motor skills.

The recommended list price for this Hello Kitty 'My Favourite Things' Pocket Library collection is £4.99, Red House are selling it for £2.49 - Lynley posted a free Red House delivery code last month (FREE116), so use that too and bag yourself some little book bargains.

Happy pocket library reading!

My First Hello Kitty Kitchen £24.99 @ Toys R Us

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 September, 2011 at 11:00 am

My First Hello Kitty Kitchen £24.99 @ Toys R Us

My First Hello Kitty Kitchen is half  price at Toys R Us at the moment, selling for £24.99 instead of £49.99.

Despite the fact that so much pink in one spot makes my heart race a little faster – it seems having a little girl has done nothing for my apparent pink version of chromatophobia (the fear of colours) – this does look like a  pretty good deal. I’m always stunned at the price of play kitchens, so one for under £30 with delivery included doesn’t seem too bad.

Crititcisms of this set from purchasers include that it is a bit flimsy and not really suitable from the advertised 18 months old, although not everyone agrees with that.

The Hello Kitty First Kitchen features a cooker, sink, hob, plenty of storage, an over door which opens and closes and 15 play accessories, such as a pot and pan, cups for making tea, crockery and cutlery for three.  It also comes with a collection of stickers for decorating the play set.

Hello Kitty Box Set £7.33 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 August, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Hello Kitty Box Set £7.33 @ Amazon

If you have a Hello Kitty lover in your clan, this box set of Hello Kitty goodies could make a nice little gift – (or if you’re having a Hello Kitty themed party, splitting the  contents could make good goody bad fillers too!). They’re £7.33 each, which is a 27% saving.

I first came across Hello Kitty in Thailand, of all places, about 10 years ago, so whenever I see anything Hello Kitty I have a flashback to beautiful beaches and crazy busy market places… but I guess that’s just me, so aaaaanyway…

The Hello Kitty boxed set comes with an assortment of themed goodies: it contains two bouncy balls, a skipping rope, and a light-up Yo Yo. Annoyingly, they say contents may vary, but they don’t tell you how.

The reviews are quite mixed, with one saying that the skipping rope didn’t last more than two days, but others absolutely loving it and even wanting to get a set for themselves.

I think, if you have a small party or a big budget, they’d make fab goody bags!

Hello Kitty Soft Toy £5.00 @ Tesco Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 March, 2011 at 11:00 am

Hello Kitty Soft Toy £5.00 @ Tesco Direct

Tesco Direct are selling this Hello Kitty Soft Toy for £5.00 instead of £20.00

I’m not sure what I can tell you about this 15" Hello Kitty Soft Toy, after all a soft toy is a soft toy but whenever Tecso drop the price of anything Hello Litty their stock tends to fly off the shelves FAST!

Did you know that Hello Kitty has been around since 1975 (I did some research) and apparently she wasnt’ given a mouth so that your own feelings, whether happy or sad, could be projected onto her, meaning she’d be happy or sad with you and there’d be some sort of empathy going on.

So her designer didn’t just ‘forget’ then…

This Hello Kitty soft toy doesn’t do anything. It doesnt’ require any batteries and it doesn’t make any noises – there are no rattles, crackles, squeaks or tinkling bells.

There are no flashing lights or moving parts (she's sounding better and better with every word I write!) there’s no need for water or parental supervision – all your child has to do with Hello Kitty is LOVE her!

I had to laugh when I read that HUKDers have already bought a Hello Kitty soft toy or two in time Christmas already; the ultimate deal 'boy scouts'.

3 For 2 Deals - Star Wars, Hello Kitty & Thomas And Friends @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

3 For 2 Deals - Star Wars, Hello Kitty & Thomas And Friends @ Toys R UsToys R Us have some great 3 for 2 deals on all Star Wars (including Star Wars Lego), Thomas and Friends and Hello Kitty Toys - but you'll have to get in quick as this offer ends TOMORROW.

Sometimes deals like this just come along at the right time; my youngest is Star Wars mad and even though his birthday isn't until July, he's already putting together a birthday list of epic proportions.

And on that list are umpteen thousand Lego Star Wars things.  He used to be a Thomas and Friends fan, he still loves the books but he's 'too grown up' for Thomas the Tank Engine toys now apparently (can you hear my bank balance heaving a huge sigh of relief?).

Being a boy, he was never really into Hello Kitty - in fact, he was never into Hello Kitty at ALL but my friend's daughter adores her, or did before SHE got too grown up for such things and decided she wanted to become a fairy instead.

There's free delivery if you're spending over £50 or you can always reserfe online and go and pay instore.

Hello Kitty Playhut £9.99 @ Toys R Us

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 18 March, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Hello Kitty Playhut £9.99 @ Toys R Us

This cute Hello Kitty Playhut is half price at £9.99 at Toys R Us

My god-daughter is absolutely Hello Kitty obsessed. We just celebrated her fifth birthday with a Hello Kitty cake and Hello Kitty décor and a Hello Kitty bouncy castle. She has Hello Kitty bubble bath and Hello Kitty bedding. Really. When I said obsessed, I wasn't kidding.

I really think I should buy her this Hello Kitty Playhut, just to complete the collection.

It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and is 76 (l) x 76 (w) x 91 (h) cm in dimensions. It's predominent colour is, of course, pink and it's made of fabric. The hut has an opening entrance with velcro tabs to keep the hut open or closed.

There's also a boys version, the Transformers tent that's the same in every other way. There's a five-star review on this one who says that it is easy to put up and take down, and that it gets played with every day – and that he can't say a single bad thing about it... which is pretty good!

Delivery is a hefty £4.95, but there's no escaping it, unless you go in store.

Hello Kitty Easel £19.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 24 December, 2010 at 11:00 am

Hello Kitty Easel £19.99 @ Argos

There are so many uses for the Hello Kitty Easel, now £19.99 at Argos, down from £34.99

What are these uses? Well, apart from the obvious play advantage, there's also the writing things option, like to do lists for children, reminders can be written on, or short messages if you'll be missing each other on the way in or out. There's also the ability to learn and disguise it as play. I had a chalkboard later in my childhood, and used to “teach” the neighbourhood children maths at it.

Of course, it's primary purpose is play, and the easel comes with six white board markers, 12 crayons, 12 colouring sheets and a white board eraser.

I think it's great that it is dual medium – whiteboard and paper - as that does lengthen how long it will stay in use for, which is always an added bonus.

You can get this from Argos, and it's available for click and collect today or home delivery in two days

Toy And Games Sale @ Debenhams

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 30 November, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Toy And Games Sale @ Debenhams

Debenhams have a great toys and games sale on with 20% to 50% off selected items. The code PZ8P also gives you an additional 10% off.

I know Tamsin has already shared a few of the Debenhams offers with you today, but there are so many, I thought I'd share the rest with you.

So, the Early Learning Centre items have 20% off, as does the Hello Kitty and VTech ranges. For 50% off, you can have Boardgames and Puzzles, Art, Craft and Science toys and Books.

I have a confession to make – I've not bought a single Christmas present yet. It's very unusual for me. Normally I've bought everything I need by September! This year, however, I seem to be totally distracted by the ranges available, and seem to wait be constantly waiting to see what the next deal will be, in case it's even better. I guess I'd better decide soon, because time is running out!

I personally liked the look of these:

First Pottery Set £6.50, from £13.00 is great for creative play.

The Hello Kitty Snowstorm Drinking cup, £4.20 from £6.00, is perfect for this weather and the pink particles float around her when shaken, just like in a snowstorm.

And finally, the VTech Alphabet Apple with safari animals to help preschoolers learn the alphabet was £22.00 and is now only £10.00

Those are my first choices for this Christmas, and I'm rather happy with the almost £20.00 saving!

Hello Kitty Sleeping Bag And Tent And Bakugan Satchel Skateboard Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 30 November, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Hello Kitty Sleeping Bag And Tent And Bakugan Satchel Skateboard Review

We were totally excited here at PlayPennies HQ a few weeks ago, when we were offered a few great kiddies toys to review. Unfortunately we couldn't keep any of them for ourselves and passed them on to PlayPennies mums Kelly and Tara to see what they thought of the Ozbozz products.

Ozbozz is a nationwide distributor, supplying top lines of toys to retailers all over the UK. They don't sell directly to the public, but their products are available through many of the leading retailers.

Hello Kitty Sleeping Bag And Tent And Bakugan Satchel Skateboard ReviewWe asked mum of one little girl, Tara, to review the Hello Kitty sleeping bag, which she loved.

"This is just divine,” Tara told us about the sleeping bag. “It is excellent quality and has withstood some pretty hardcore usage since we received it. It has stood in as an extra duvet for a sleepover or two, it’s been used as a picnic blanket out on the beach in cold weather, it has wrapped my daughter up warm on a fireworks road trip in November and it has been most snuggleworthy in front of the TV on these rainy winter’s nights.”

The Hello Kitty sleeping bag can be used in the garden for outdoor camping adventures or for indoor camp outs with friends.

"The Hello Kitty logo is near the top and the zip goes ¾ of the way around”, says Tara, “and the zip only snags once or twice – it really is well made – and my daughter can do it up by herself, no problem.”

Hello Kitty Sleeping Bag And Tent And Bakugan Satchel Skateboard ReviewAnother item in the Hello Kitty range is the tent, which Tara also loved.

"I love this tent. It is so pink that you can park it on a busy field and find it with your eyes blindfolded shut,” she laughed. “It's definitely not for the pink faint hearted.

Tara didn't feel that the tent was a versatile as the sleeping bag though. It has no windows and only a breathable roof hole made from mesh that's easily covered by the attached rain hood. "Pitched in the lounge it did get quite stuffy and hot quite quickly, and with no ground sheet, it's certainly not for outdoors in colder weather."

For children, the tent is quite spacious, has some pockets to pop secret things in on the inside, has a mesh for the front as well as zip up cover so you can protect against bugs, but it's not really a real camping tent.

Hello Kitty Sleeping Bag And Tent And Bakugan Satchel Skateboard Review
The Bakugan Skateboard from Ozbozz features cool Bakugan graphics and is an absolute treat for all Bakugan addicts. The 17x5" board is robust, tough hard maple and is ideal for street boarding and park boarding. The Bakugan satchel skateboard is the ideal choice for younger kids learning to board which is why it appealed to Kim.

"At seven and a half, my son had been pestering for a skateboard for awhile, but I was worried he was too little. The Bakugan Battle Brawlers skateboard had a good wide platform and a sturdy finish – it didn't feel flimsy or like it was about to whiz out from under you (yes, I had a go!)"

The Bakugan board is fully assembled and ready to ride and has tough trucks and PU wheels. It comes with a spare parts warranty and is recommended for 5 Years +

And finally...

The mums final words on the products?

"If you're happy for your child to sleep alone in the tent in the garden in summer, it'll be a great overnight tent, but it's not ideal for an adult to sleep in too, so not really a real camping tent. I think the sleeping bag is fantastic, especially if it is suitable for camping in colder weather.”

And of the skateboard, Kim says: "Obviously my son loved the design and the funky graphics on it. He did get the hang of balancing and up ending it after a while, but to be totally honest, I was only letting him use it indoors! It is a lot of fun, but I probably wouldn't let him outside with it until he is a bit older. Great board though, well made and with a design that really appeals to kids.

Hello Kitty Soft Toy £10 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 September, 2010 at 11:00 am

Hello Kitty Soft Toy £10 @ TescoI have NO idea why 'Hello Kitty' is as loved and successful as she is. Tesco have reduced their Hello Kitty18" soft toy by 50%, and when they do this their stock tends to fly off the shelves FAST! So don't hang around on this one.

I'm not sure what I can tell you about this deal; a soft toy is a soft toy!

So this Hello Kitty 18" soft toy doesn't do anything. It doesnt' require any batteries and it doesn't make any noises - there are no rattles, crackles, squeaks or tinkling bells.

There are no flashing lights or moving parts (oooh it's sounding better and better with every word I write!) there's no need for water or parental supervision - all your child has to do with Hello Kitty is LOVE her!

I did a quick bit of a research (I'm a bit like that) and discovered that Hello Kitty has been around since 1975!

Apparently she wasnt' given a mouth so that your own feelings, whether happy or sad, could be projected onto her, meaning she'd be happy or sad with you and there'd be some sort of empathy going on.

Fancy that, so her designer didn't just 'forget' then...

This particular Hello Kitty soft toy should be £20, but is up for grabs for £10 - go and get one, they won't stay in stock for long!

Thanks to babyblue over HUKD

ps - apparently, they are available for this price IN STORE too, if you happen to be going to Tesco any time soon!

Hello Kitty Carry Tin With Marshmallows £4 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 September, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Hello Kitty Carry Tin With Marshmallows £4 @ DebenhamsMy kids always liked getting pressies like this Hello Kitty carry tin with marshmallows in it - I always had to try really hard not to eat the marshmallows first.

For four quid, which is what this costs, I think it's a lovely little pressie and can be used afterwards to put things in.

Hello Kitty is always a safe bet for girls - and maybe some boys, let not get bogged down in gender stereotypes here - and EVERYONE loves marshmallows.

Unless you happen to be vegetaraian and then they are very 'bad' - the official blurb on the Debenhams website says...

Contains sulphites, gluten and milk not suitable for vegetarians or vegans

...so if you've got friends with veggie kids then DO NOT buy this as a pressie, OR take the marshmallows out and replace them with some vegetarian friendly sweets instead - how's that for some lateral thinking?

Hello Kitty Carry Tin With Marshmallows £4 @ DebenhamsNow, the website has the Hello Kitty carry tin (with marshmallows)  priced at £5 so you're going to have to apply a couple of codes to drop the price.

Use PP8P to go from £5 to £4 and then SHD1 to get free home delivery; brill!

Hello Kitty Filled Pencil Case £4.99 @ WHSmiths

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 September, 2010 at 9:00 am

Hello Kitty Filled Pencil Case £4.99 @ WHSmithsThe last time I wrote about this Hello Kitty filled pencil case it FLEW out of stock, so PLEASE don't hang around if you want one!

It's a triple decker beast of a pencil case and has more pens, pencils and bits and pieces in it than you can shake a pencil sharpener at!

It actually contains a notepad, ballpoint pen, pencil, ruler, set square, Protractor, sharpener, eraser, 14 felt tip pens, and 14 colouring pencils.

Now I'm not one to go with, and reinforce, gender sterotypes, but I appreciate that anything 'Hello Kitty' is a MORE than a bit girly for boys.

I don't know if you could buy the contents of this for less, so you could buy this for what it contains and find a more suitable pencil case that your little boy would be happy with...? It's just a suggestion.

Hello Kitty Filled Pencil Case £4.99 @ WHSmithsSmiths have reduced this Hello Kitty pencil case from £9.99 down to £4.99, delivery is free if you arrange to collect it in-store or are spending over £15.

If you just order this one item then Saver delivery should only be £1.49 as it's a single stationery item.

Hello Kitty Fleece £5.51 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 August, 2010 at 8:00 am

Hello Kitty Fleece £5.51 @ AmazonEven if the weather is warm during the day, there's a definite chill in the air in the early mornings and evenings.

I get up very early - I'm talking 4am early every day - and it's dark enough to need to the lights on still at half past five, and chilly enough to have to put a fleece jumper on.

I love fleece things; I love how they feel when they're new, I love that they're so warm without being heavy and when it comes to kids I love that they are so easy to wash and dry.

There's something very snuggly about being tucked up under a fleece blanket as the weather starts to cool down. Equally, I really enjoy gently covering up my youngest with a warm blanket when he's fallen asleep on the sofa - it's just too cute and he looks so cosy *contented sigh*

I can't find any dimensions for this blanket but looking at the pictures, it looks like a good size and will hang nicely over the sides of a single bed.

This Hello Kitty fleece should be £9.99 but Amazon have reduced the price to £5.51 (please, let them leave it there and not do their usual thing of whipping the price up as soon I write about something!) and delivery is free if you choose the SuperSaver deal.
