by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 22 May, 2012 at 6:00 pm

12” Trax Bikes & Trax T.10 Kids Bike £29.99 @ Halfords

Halfords are selling two kids bikes for the lovely low price of £29.99 which is a nice saving of £10 off their usual price of £39.99. The two Trax bikes are 12 inches and come with some ace features and are great first steps into the world of cycling.

The two Trax bikes are available in either purple or light blue and have detachable stabilisers so kids can get to grips with cycling nice and easily. The girls bike is purple with a sparkle design in silver and you can arrange to reserve and collect it instore for free.

The boys bike is blue with all the same features as the girls bike. Both bikes can be either collected instore or you can get free delivery in four working days, which is rather nice.

There isn’t a lot of information about the bikes themselves so I would suggest going instore to try them out first.

Maxi Cosi Priori XP Child Car Seat Tango Red £89 @ Halfords

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 8 April, 2012 at 11:00 am

Maxi Cosi Priori XP Child Car Seat Tango Red £89 @ HalfordsThe Maxi Cosi Priori XP child car seat is a forward facing child seat that is installed in your car by using the 3 point car seat belt system. Halfords have reduced this from £149.99 to £89, a saving of £60.99.

The car seat is suitable for use from 9 months to 4 years, approximately (it depends on weight - for this seat that's 9-18kg). It has a Side Protection System for maximum protection against side impacts. Other features include the easy to adjust the harness height, the tensioner securely tightens the car's seat belt, single handed adjustment to change from sit to sleep position (4 positions), practical belt hooks retain the seat belt when seating your child. The cover is easy to remove and washable, a necessity when it comes to car seats as any parent will tell you.

Most of the reviews on the site are positive. Here's what one commenter says "I looked all over for a car seat for my daughter that wasnt black but I also didnt want shocking pink! This is the ideal middle ground. Its a really comfy and well designed seat...having the extra hook to put the bit between the kiddies legs out of the way when you are wriggling them into the seat is genious!"

What Do You Need To Know To Buy A Car seat?

by Lynley Oram in Features on 8 March, 2012 at 1:00 pm

What Do You Need To Know To Buy A Car seat? Most baby items you can do without. Then there's some pieces of baby equipment that are more essential, like a pram, but you can still skimp on what you're paying. Then there are the baby items you absolutely have to have and it is worth spending as much as you can afford. Car seats are one of these. And if you've got a car, then legally you have to use a car seat. There's no two ways about it.

Does everyone? No. It shocks me but I've seen people driving around with mum holding baby in the passenger seat. I've even seen parents I know do similar things - people I know who are well educated, well off, and normally sensible.

Be that as it may, it is a legal requirement for babies, and children, and it is also necessary if you want to save them from death or injury in even a small car accident.

If you've got a budget, then allocate a fair chunk of it to a car seat. You should only ever use a second hand car seat if you know the person you're getting it from really well, so you can be 100% confident that it has never been in a car accident.

Here we look at the best way to pick out the car seat you should get, what you should look out for, and tips on getting it fitted properly.

Graco Junior Maxi High Back Booster Seat Metropolitan £24.99 @ Halfords

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 25 December, 2011 at 8:30 am

Graco Junior Maxi High Back Booster Seat Metropolitan £24.99 @ Halfords

There’s a fab saving of £35 off the Graco Junior Maxi High Back Booster Seat Metropilitan at Halfords, reducing it to £24.99.

My daughter hated the bucket baby car seats from the day she was born, and driving anywhere was an absolute nightmare. At 18 months, unable to cope with the drama of driving any longer, we put her in an age appropriate booster seat where she could see out the window and sit upright, and it was like flipping a switch – everything changed and we could drive without frazzled nerves and pounding headaches.

While this isn’t suitable for an 18 month old – in fact it’s only suitable from 4 – 12 years, whenever I see a picture of a booster seat I feel relief. Psychological imprinting, for sure!

This seat comes with free fitting from Halfords, so it’s worth reserving and collecting, but you can have it delivered for free within four days.

The Metropolitan Graco Junior Maxi High Back Booster Seat has a height adjustable head support that grows with your child. It also has height adjustable arm rests to give better back support, and they contain two retractable cupholders. There’s a raised seat and belt guides to ensure correct fitting and the back can be removed to leave a group three booster cushion.

50% Off MOT @ Halfords

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 16 March, 2011 at 3:00 pm

50% Off MOT @ Halfords

Is your car due for its annual checkup and TLC? Halfords are offering 50% off an MOT right this very minute which is a fabulous saving for anyone who owns a car. I am almost tempted to send my car for an MOT just because it is so cheap.

The Halfords MOT usually sells for around £54.85 but it is now on offer for a mere £27.42. That is a totally brilliant saving, in my opinion, especially when cars can be so darn expensive. Rising fuel costs and the drama of our financial crisis mean that car owners are really being stung and every little bit helps.

To book your Halfords MOT and get this fabulous low price you need to book in advance by going to the Halford’s Autocentres website and selecting the MOT option. Then select the nearest Autocentre to you and enter your vehicle’s details.

The MOT bookings are subject to availability so if you fancy a half price MOT, then I reckon you need to gallop in there as fast as possible.

Halfords Promotional Code: 10% Off Maxi Cosi Car Seats

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 27 February, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Halfords Promotional Code: 10% Off Maxi Cosi Car SeatsUse this Halfords promotional code to get a further 10% off Maxi Cosi car seats. What makes this deal that little bit sweeter is that Halfords currently have selected car seats on sale, with up to 50% off. And this code works on sale items.

Click here to use your 10% Maxi Cosi code at Halfords

  • Discount: 10%
  • Applies to: Maxi Cosi car seats
  • Promotional code: AFFMXC01
  • Expires: 2nd March 2011

To use this code go to the Basket page, and enter it in the Promotion Voucher box. You may need to wait a minute for it to work. This seemed to take longer than other sites when I used it.

I tested the code out on the Maxi Cosi Priori XP child car seat. This is in the sale for £119.99, marked down from £149.99. The code took another 10% off this, reducing it down to £107.99.

There's a link on the page to view all other car seats in the up to 50% sale. I didn't look to see if there were any other Maxi Cosi models in there.

Halfords Promotional Cold: 10% Off Pushchairs, Prams And Accessories

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 5 February, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Halfords Promotional Cold: 10% Off Pushchairs, Prams And AccessoriesUse this Halfords promotional code to get 10% off pushchairs, prams and accessories. Delivery is free on selected items. This is clearly marked on the product page. If this isn't the case then you'll have to pay. Standard delivery costs are £6.99 for medium sized items and £9.99 for larger items.

Click here to use this 10% Halfords promotional code

  • Discount: 10%
  • Applies to: pushchairs, prams and accessories
  • Promotional code: AFFPSC01
  • Expires: 28th February 2011

To use the code, go to the Shopping Basket page and enter it in the promotional code box. It will be automatically applied to your order. I tried it out on the Are We Nearly There Yet stroller, which was priced at £54.99.

This has free delivery. The promotional code took a further £5.50 off the price, taking the total to £49.49.

Halfords sell pushchairs, three wheelers, twin pushchairs and travel systems. I didn't test the code to see if it applied to all accessories, or just to the ones for pushchairs and prams. One accessory I did spot that I'd really have liked to have had when my son was younger was the Sunshine Kids Dry Seat, a waterproof insert that fits into a car seat. Now that would have been handy during the potty training months. But I didn't see anything like it back then.

Over 50% Off Selected Plus 15% Sale On All Carseats @ Halfords

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 18 September, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Over 50% Off Selected Plus 15% Sale On All Carseats @ Halfords

Halfords has a sale on carseats, for this weekend only. The store has more than 50% off on some models. In addition, you get a further 15% off any carseat. The discount is automatically applied when you go to checkout. So, for example, a Graco Logica L child car seat is on sale for £49.99, down from £119.99. And when you go to checkout, this is further reduced to £42.49.

The deal also applies to carseat bases and booster seats. To see the full range of products available in this offer, click on the link above, and then on the 'See All' link on the page that appears.

What it I like about deals like this on a car seat, is that it isn't a reduction on just one brand or model. It is worth while researching exactly what you need. Too many parents that I know simply go out and get whatever happens to be to hand or cheapest on the shelf. Or looks nice. Or is allowed to be swayed by the child's desire to have cup holders, pen holders and drawing trays.

The most important consideration is what you consider to be safe. Even if your child is five years old, you really should have them in a car seat with a back and side impact. Unfortunately, unlike the US, it doesn't seem to be possible to get Category II and III car seats in this country (or Europe) that have a five point harness system. Be careful, if this is important to you, that you don't fork out extra dosh for a car seat that says it is a five point harness system AND goes up to Category II. The chances are, when you take off the baby seat bits to make the seat large enough for the older child, it will become an ordinary three point harness seat the same as all the others.

Bob the Builder Bike £36.12 @ Halfords

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 September, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Bob the Builder Bike £36.12 @ HalfordsHalfords have a great offer on this Bob The Builder bike for little kids - it was a whopping £119.99 (not sure how!) but is now a much more respectable £36.12.

Christmas is fast approaching - don't blame me, it's not my fault! - and bikes have always been a popular Crimbo pressie; hellish to wrap up the night before, but goes down a storm with the kids.

If you have a little Bob the Builder fan then this bike could be the thing to bring a huge smile to thier face on Christmas morning - I know I keep mentioning Christmas, but if you plan ahead and get things well ahead of time when they're on offer, you can save yourself quite a lot of money!

It has all of the usual safety features that come with kids bikes, like an enclosed chain guard so small fingers can't in there or trouser legs caught up.

It also has 12" wheels and detachable stabilisers - aahhh, that's a magic moment when the stabilisers come off.

Bob the Builder Bike £36.12 @ HalfordsThe published price on the website is £42.50 but when you add the bike to your basket an additional 15% is taken off, bringing the price down to £36.12.

If you want to collect this bike from your nearest Halfords you can; they'll even assemble it for free if you'd like them to or you can take it home in the box to do it yourself.

Complete Camping Cookset £25.00 @ Halfords

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 8 July, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Calling all camping conossieurs and festival fruitcakes!

Personally, I'm a hotel kind of girl! If I'm going away I want to stay somewhere where I don't have to do all the things I normally do at home, but in a MUCH smaller space, with the most minimum of equipment and everyone still expecting a three-course banquet!

Complete Camping Cookset £25.00 @ HalfordsHowever, I'm often assured that this is all part of the 'fun'!  Well if you say so, and so for your bargain-hunting delight here is a GREAT camping cookset at a great price from Halfords - they've reduced it down from £59.99 to just £25.00.

It contains all of the following bits and pieces:

  • 1 x durable rucksack to store and carry all items
  • 1 x portable gas stove
  • 4 x pans
  • 3 x cooking utensils
  • 4 x plastic food containers

It's a shame I don't 'do' camping really;  I almost feel I'm missing out, this is such a bargain! But there will never be a deal good enough to persuade me that an a'la carte menu and room service aren't much more civilised.

If your local Halfords has this in stock (you can check on the website) you can reserve and collect it for free, otherwise you can buy it online and have it delivered for £4.99.

Happy camping!
