Organic Children Sticky Hand Sanitiser Review

by Lynley Oram in Reviews on 3 April, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Organic Children Sticky Hand Sanitiser ReviewOrganic, safe to use on tender young skin, and free of chemical nasties. That's the sort of thing that Green People specialises in. The latest addition to their line up, the Organic Children Sticky Hand Sanitiser, is one of their most intriguing yet. It will rid surfaces of germs,  from table tops to baby's face.  According to the website you can use it instead of wipes.

Sounds a bit wondrous! To be honest, when my son was born I found I had a huge aversion to any sort of modern chemical cleaners. Now, many people think of chemical free cleaners as being things like vinegar and lemon juice. These are still chemical cleaners though - they're just fairly natural.

What you want to avoid really are the more complicated sounding chemcials like pthalates, parabens, and various petrochemicals. Even lanolin, which is natural, can cause a reaction in young skin.

We got some of the Sticky Hand Sanitiser in for review. Read on to find out what this stuff is really like.

Hello Baby Gift Set Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 19 December, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Hello Baby Gift Set ReviewGreen People have recently launched a new gift set for new babies and their mums. The Hello Baby Gift Set sells for £15.95 and comes ready to be given as a gift - no need for extra wrapping.  It comes in three 'styles' one for neutral, one for girls and one for boys.

The neutral one is nice with blue and pink stripes and a few others thrown in for good measure. The boys gift set is blue with white dots and the girls is pink with white dots.

The packaging is recyclable and has not been air freighted. It's also really pretty – an ideal new baby gift, great for baby showers, or a first Christmas stocking filler.

Hello Baby Gift Set Review

Green People's Organic Babies range are made without SLS, SLES, parabens, alcohol, artificial fragrances, petrochemicals, lanolin, harsh foaming agents or artificial colourants, making it perfect for the soft and delicate skins of newborns and their luxury deserving mummies.

There are three items in the gift set two of which are quite small, 'taster' sizes and one is a full size.

Hello Baby Gift Set Review

The Soothing Baby Salve is a 30ml tube of moisturising cream. It has a vaseline sort of consistency, and a lavender scent. This cream is amazing for soothing sore and dry skin, both on mum and baby. It can also be used to ease sore nipples and relieve nappy rash.

If the cream gets too hot the oil and cream seems to separate a bit, and when you squeeze it out you get a bit more oil than you expect, but keeping it in a cool place fixes that pretty quickly.

I really love this salve. It smells gorgeous and it leaves skin silky smooth and beautiful.

Hello Baby Gift Set ReviewThe Dry Skin Baby Lotion is also in a 30ml tube, and is a white scent free cream. It is an ultra-gentle moisturiser which can be used for massaging and moisturising both mum and baby. This cream is rich in Omega 3 & 6 and fatty acids to soothe dry skin.

There's really nothing bad to say about this product either. It draws in to the skin quickly, and being scent free, it kind of smells like nothing but something you can't quite put your finger on. I'd probably have preferred to have it lavender too, but since babies aren't really supposed to have essential oils used on them, this is probably best for a newborn.

Hello Baby Gift Set ReviewThe final product, the Baby Wash & Shampoo is a favourite around our home and is often used as an excuse for me to bath with the children! It is a really mild, gentle lavender baby wash and shampoo that leaves their hair soft and silky. The lavender helps them relax into bed time and there are no tears when it comes to hair washing – or no tears from the shampoo burning their eyes at least.

The set is vegetarian, but it isn't vegan since  it contains beeswax.

I've often given Green People products as new baby gifts, because it's a product I honestly love. Because it's an organic product that costs more than supermarket 'normal' brands, new parents might not buy it for themselves as they see it as a 'luxury' item, which makes giving it as a gift really nice. Especially since in my experience, Green People products last as long as the other brands, since you use so much less at a time, and they are just so much nicer. I personally love that my babies aren't absorbing a mass of chemicals through their skin.

The Good

  • It's Green People. To me that's synonymous with good.
  • It has a lovely presentation and is gift-ready
  • All three are products that will be useful for new mums and their babies, but can also be used and be equally as useful into toddler hood, childhood and adulthood.
  • I love all the products in the gift set

The Bad

  • As a user of Green People and Organic Babies and Organic Children products, I don't really think £15.95 is too expensive for a product that has three items in it, but I suppose that it could be seen as pricey if you're used to paying a lot less for other products.

The Verdict

I love it, I use it on myself, on my babies, I order it and pay for it with my own money, and give it as gifts. Yes, it can be hard to swallow the cost initially, but when you see how long it lasts and how fantastically well it works, along with the feel good factors of good products, ethically sourced and responsibly produced, there's very little argument from me!

Clearance Sale 50% Off @ Green People

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 4 August, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Clearance Sale 50% Off @ Green People

Green People have a clearance sale at the moment with 50% off various ranges.

While I absolutely love Green People's Organic Babies and Children's products, they actually do a whole lot more and have a rather luxurious range for mums and dads too. At the moment, there are clearance items on a bit of a random array of products - in other words, it's not all summer stuff, or all baby stuff - it's bits from all round the range.

There really is a bit of a higgledy- piggledy selection, with everything from After Sun Lotion to Mum and Baby Moisturiser to Cellulite Treatment. There's also quite a large selection of mineral make-up, with Eco Eye Trio's in five colour options for £9 and a whole bunch of refills and blushes from the same line.

There are also a few travel size samples, if you want to fill your toiletry bag, but I think these are normally around £2 anyway and these seem to be just 'end of the line' products.

Postage is £3 to the UK.

Sticky Hand Sanitiser £7.45 @ Green People

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 3 August, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Sticky Hand Sanitiser £7.45 @ Green People

The Sticky Hand Sanitiser is usually on sale for quite a bit more than the current £2 discounted price of £7.45. Well, £2 more really seeing as that’s the special offer. Anyway, this is an award winning product at a lovely price that is on offer just for the moment so grab it while it’s hot.

These days a hand sanitiser is a staple for most mums, especially for on-the-go germ zapping and sticky finger fixing emergencies. However, most mainstream hand sanitisers use a cocktail of chemical ingredients to give you this germ zapping protection and some of these, such as Triclosan and Alcohol, can strip your skin and dry it out horribly.

This is very true and in winter my hands really suffer. So how about trying a natural alternative – the Sticky Hand Sanitiser – that costs more but gets its anti-bacterial protection from Tea Tree Extract and other natural ingredients that don’t damage you or baby’s skin as much? The special offer is valid for August so take a chance!

Neutral Scent Free Deodorant 3 For 2 @ Green People

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 28 July, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Neutral Scent Free Deodorant 3 For 2 @ Green PeopleThere's a 3 for 2 offer on Neutral Scent Free Deodorant at Green People. The deodorant is £7.95 on it's own, but as a three for two offer, will cost you £5.30 each.

If you have normal skin, you might not understand how hard weather like this can be for those who can't just spritz and spray to smell a little better.

Anyone who suffers from eczema or psoriasis will find the netrual scent free deodorant a god-send. It is made from organic aloe vera,  prebiotics alum and zinc ricinoleate and was voted 'Best Natural Deodoratnt' by Natural Health & Beauty Magazine.

The gentle and effective roll-on deo does not prevent the essential process of perspiration but reduces bacterial growth.

It is free from parabens, ethyl alcohol and other potential irritants.

If you've not ordered from Green People before you postage will be free, otherwise it will cost you £3 to have it delivered, unless you spend over £50, then it's free.

Children’s Travel Essentials Bundle £38 @ Green People

Children’s Travel Essentials Bundle £38 @ Green People

If you’re heading off on holiday this summer, and even if you’re not, the ‘travel essentials’ bundle from Green People is really good value. They’re selling a whole bundle for £38 instead of £54.80.

I don’t think I’ve ever been on holiday and not forgotten something so I quite like the idea of buying a bundle like this and taking it straight from the packaging into the suitcase. At least that way my girls would have almost everything they need – I’d just need to add the nappy bag essentials and we’d be set!

The Essentials bundle includes Mandarin Toothpaste, Scent Free Sun Lotion, Aloe Vera After Sun Lotion, Citrus Bath & Shower Wash, Citrus Shampoo and Sticky Hand Sanitiser.

If you’ve never ordered from Green People before your first delivery is free, otherwise standard delivery costs £3, or orders over £50 have free courier delivery. This bundle should be with you in 1 – 4 days, but if you’re heading off on holiday soon, contact them and they may be able to speed it up for you.

Save £3 On Mum & Baby Rescue Balm @ Green People

Save £3 On Mum & Baby Rescue Balm @ Green People

Green People are celebrating National Breastfeeding Week from 24th -30th June 2012 by taking £3 off their Mum & Baby Rescue Balm. This pricey stuff usually costs £9.70 but, for these few days, it will drop down to a lovely £6.70 instead. But waait…not today! Next week.

This lovely Mum & Baby Balm is a certified organic gem that’s packed with natural ingredients such as organic calendula and Vitamin E to soothe sore, cracked nipples both before and after breastfeeding. This natural baby product is made without parabens, lanolin, phthalates, artificial perfumes, petrochemicals and colourants.

It is the best that nature can offer with totally organic and natural ingredients. It has been voted the Must Have breast treatment for breastfeeding mums by TIPS and it has organic shea butter which is one of my all time favourite things in the whole world. That and cocoa butter, yum.

The Mum & Baby Rescue Balm is also excellent for people who suffer from exzema and psoriasis and has been certified by the Soil Association too. Nice.

Organic Babies Products 3 For 2 @ GreenPeople

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 June, 2012 at 8:00 am

Organic Babies Products 3 For 2 @ GreenPeopleThere are a few Organic Babies products on offer at GreenPeople this month:

The weather is so ridiculously changeable at the moment that I’m not sure whether to stock up on Moisturiser as a barrier for the wind and cold, or Suncream and Aftersun?! At least my girls need shampoo and body wash, regardless of the weather.

This is a really fantastic deal, actually. Yes, GreenPeople products are more expensive that your oversized, cheap-as-chips, chemical filled, off-the-shelves alternative, but for children’s sensitive skins, I really don’t believe there’s anything better!

All three these products are a staple in our home, and I love that there are no nasties in them – and more importantly they work and they last for ages.

There’s a lovely and easy to read explanation on the Green People site about why you don’t need more than an SPF25 (check the Q&A section of the product information.)

Delivery is free if it’s your first order, and you get a free Sun Lotion Sachet With Every Order.

Organic Babies New Born Hamper Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 25 February, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Organic Babies New Born Hamper Review

It’s no secret that I love Green People, so when I received a gift hamper for my new baby, I was absolutely thrilled.

A set that comes beautifully presented in a handy reusable wicker basket lined with non bleached cotton, and has over £40 worth of products in it – yet sells at £34.99 – can only be a good start.

Inside you’ll find Scent Free Mum and Baby Rescue Balm, Scent Free Baby Oil, Scent Free Baby Wash and Shampoo and Chamomile Nappy Cream Baby Balm as well as an organic cotton bib with a picture of Budsie, the Organic Babies logo character.

We reviewed the Nappy Cream Baby Balm last year – but I’ll say again: this stuff is amazing. It’s honestly the best nappy cream I’ve used, and I’ve seen broken skin regrown the next day after using it – not just for nappy areas either. It works really well on eczema. I love the stuff and use it on my own dry and cracked skin sometimes.  I sometimes think I should sell it since I recommend it as far as I go anyway.

We’ve also reviewed the Baby Oil, so I’ll leave you to read that review in peace.

The Rescue Balm for mums and babies can be used on dry skin as well as on sore nipples and perineum before birth. It contains Calendula and Vitamin E to soothe broken skin, and has shea butter to reduce dry skin. The sunflower, sweet almond and hemp seed oil soften skin, which makes it useful for the perineum before birth, and since it is fragrance free, it can be used on the most sensitive areas without problems – especially for people prone to eczema and psoriasis.  It does contain beeswax, so is fine for vegetarians, but not vegans.

Finally, the No Scent Baby Wash and Shampoo is ideal for babies as it contains no SLS, Parabens, Lanolin, phthalates, artificial perfumes, petrochemicals and colourants and as such will not irritate new skins (although it’s still advisable to only use water on your newborn.)

You can use this baby wash and shampoo for hair, body and nappy area washes, but it’s also a nice body wash for pregnant mums as it doesn’t have any scent – idea if you’re still struggling with smells in late pregnancy.

Something I’ve said over and again about Green People products, and can say again about this range is that while you’re paying more per item than you would a mainstream product in your supermarket, these last so much longer, a little goes a very long way, and for me, the long term benefits to my skin are immeasurable.
