Anyone for an ice lolly? How do you fancy making your own with this cute lolly- making set from the Great Little Trading Centre?
These no-mess lolly makers are cup shaped at the base to catch any drips, with a straw to help little lolly fans suck up all the melted juice at the end. They’re dishwasher safe and measure 16cmH.
At £6.00 for a set of four ice lolly moulds you’ll have saved your money on these in no time, plus you can make healthy lollies with only natural ingredients, if you so wish.
I have a set of similarly-designed lolly moulds and the little straw part is ingenious and means that even little tots can wander about with their lollies without getting in a sticky mess.
Yum!

GLTC have some cracking children’s toys lurking in the clearance section of their website just now.
This wooden country kitchen washing machine is a stylish but practical twist on the usual plastic varieties of toy kitchens and at £39.00 (down from £65.00) it’s a pretty reasonable alternative.
The matching sink is the same price, which means both items can be yours for £78.00 instead of the usual £130.
The sink measures 53cmH x 43cmW x 36cmD and comes complete with a checked splashback and a useful, realistic storage cupboard beneath the sink.
If my lads are anything to go by, little boys love playing kitchens just as much as little girls do (and why shouldn’t they?) but they also love wrecking things – so wooden versions definitely appeal to me – much sturdier and altogether less likely to be yanked apart and turned into a fort or a pirate ship!
These wooden kitchen toys are definitely at the higher end of the price scale than many of the plastic versions but at these clearance prices they could make a lovely treat for a birthday boy or girl. Or if you’re inclined to start your Christmas shopping early, it’s worth picking these up while they’re at this price and putting them away. Who knows, they might even work as bribes for keeping little people on their best behaviour for the rest of the year!

Until Sunday 14th March 2010 you can get 20% off the new Spring range at the Great Little Trading Company.
Just enter the code SPS20C to claim your discount when you’re ready to check out.
We’ve featured GLTC deals here at Playpennies several times in the past and it’s fair to say that not everyone is a fan. They’re not the cheapest company in the world but they do have some really unusual and stylish items on offer, and this discount is handy if you’re looking for something a bit different for a little one’s birthday pressie. But if you’ve ever shopped here before and have a strong opinion about the experience, do let us know what you think.
I like the look of this Pirate Boat Kite which seems pretty reasonably priced at £12.50 – or less, if you remember to use that discount code! As well as being a brand new item for Spring, it’s a GLTC ‘Testing Team Hero’ which means it scored a lot of points with the Great Little testing Team. They are apparently tough task masters who test every single product in the GLTC collection, and this impressed them. And if that doesn’t float your boat or fly your kite, check out the items in the GLTC clearance sale.

The Great Little Trading Company sale ends tomorrow!
It’s an online-only sale and it’s a really unique chance to pick up some excellent quality toys or furniture at great value prices.
This Little Cottage Doll’s House is now £30, down from £60. It’s a beautiful wooden house that includes dolls as well as furniture and is especially designed to allow easy access for child-sized hands.
Suitable for children aged 3 and upwards, it measures 40.5cmH x 40cmW x 27cmD.
At this price it’s the sort of item that’s worth putting away for Christmas next year!

Sometimes it’s just cuteness that makes us want to buy things and the Wheelybugs are ineffably cute. These ingenious toys are adorable to look at and will provide your little walkers with hours of endless entertainment. Marked down from £55 to half price, they are a lively little bargain.
If your baby has just started out with his legs or is an avid little walker then the Wheelybugs are a brilliant way to encourage development. They can turn in a snap with easy wheel movements and are only 40cmx23cmx21cm.
The site says they are suited for kids up until three years old but I am somewhat sceptical of that. My daughter is hardly a giant but these bugs don’t seem big enough for the demands of an active toddler. They’re definitely a good call for a new walker though.
The grip gives them some security as they amble along and they can spend hours zooming about the house. Perfect more for the one to two year old I’d say. Unfortunately the ladybird is still sitting at full price but at least the tiger has fur.
Thanks to Abbielonglegs At HUKD!

When it comes to stocking fillers, I don’t think satsumas really cut it anymore.
I’m determined to sneak a couple in with my sons’ assorted booty this Christmas Eve, mostly for tradition’s sake, but I don’t expect they’ll be overwhelmed with gratitude.
So where do you go for affordable stocking fillers that won’t break the bank but don’t compromise on quality either?
Look no further than the Great Little Trading Co. Established 11 years ago, they’ve won the Best Children’s Catalogue award at the UK’s mail order industry awards three years in a row. They specialise in sourcing useful, unusual children’s toys, treats and even furniture from around the UK and further afield, and pride themselves on excellent customer service and speedy, reliable delivery. Best of all, they have a range of little gifts and games that make perfect stocking fillers, and each one’s a bargain at under £10:
My 4 year old is especially fond of the Pop to the Shops game, which he first encountered at school where they use it as a fun way of getting to grips with numeracy. Personally I love the funky paint brushes and want a blackboard name plaque of my own. There’s even an interactive section on the website for kids to enjoy.
So why not slip something educational, fun and affordable into this year’s stockings? Along with the sneaky satsuma, of course.
