Mums Freebie: C2C Free Baby On Board Badge

C2C are offering expectant mums a Baby on Board badge to help them find a seat on a busy train. It’s a really sweet idea that will definitely come in handy for any woman holding her back and desperately in need of a chair.

It’s important for mums to get a seat, especially on busy trains, and it can be quite hard to ask someone to give up their seat for you. So C2C are offering an official C2C Baby on Board badge to all expectant mums who are travelling on route with C2C to wear in order to let other customers know that you may need a seat.

You do need to be travelling with C2C in order to get your free badge and then you need to fill in the form that is on the site and they will send you the badge in the post. What a sweet idea!

Freebie: iBackgammon App For iPhone and iPad @ iTunes

by Sarah Macdonald in Freebies on 9 October, 2012 at 12:00 pm

Freebie: iBackgammon App For iPhone and iPad @ iTunes If you get yourself over to iTunes today you'll be able to pick up this iBackgammon app for free, for either your iPad and/or iPhone.

I love classic board games like backgammon; I was taught to play the classic trio of backgammon, draughts and chess when I was little - my dad taught me to play, we used to play for Smarties; it was such fun.

Whilst I'm a traditionalist at heart - you can't beat playing these games with real pieces on a real board, as far as I'm concerned - there's still room for digital versions of games like backgammon.

This iBackgammon app features the classic design (I like that they haven't messed around with it and tried to make it look modern and funky), has four difficulty settings, two player mode and computer opponents who will put you through your iBackgammon paces.

If you've never played backgammon before, don't worry - the rules of play are included within the app for you and whilst the board looks a bit weird, it's a very simple game to get the hang of and very addictive (don't say I didn't warn you!).

Remember, this iBackgammon app is free for TODAY ONLY, it's usual price is £2.99 - just download it now, it'd be a shame to miss out.

Family Freebie: Free Starter Or Dessert @ Harvester

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 2 October, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Family Freebie: Free Starter Or Dessert @ Harvester

Harvester is all about offers lately and this month they have a special on where you can get a free starter or free dessert by using the voucher that I have linked to below. There are the usual terms and conditions, of course, but if you are planning a night out, then this is well worth taking with you.

When you print out the voucher that I have linked to above, you will get free desserts or starters for you and five friends. These include free Crackerjack Prawns or free Breaded Mushrooms or a free Sundae Best ice cream when you purchase a main meal each.

It isn’t a huge amount of variety, that’s true. I mean either prawns or mushrooms and when you consider that these two foods are usually disliked by most people, well, it is a bit mean. However, the free ice cream is cool and, let’s face it, anything free is fun! And it is worth noting that this is only valid until 31 October 2012.

Parents Freebie: Fabulous Freebies From Amazon

Parents Freebie: Fabulous Freebies From Amazon

It was a moment of pure chance, something I did just to see what would happen, and I ended up getting a bunch of free things that really did rock my world. Most relate to the Kindle or to Amazon’s MP3 store, but still they are great.

I found the Hamlyn QuickCook recipe book taster with sample ideas and recipes, I found the Amazon top selling free songs listing and several books across a variety of different categories. You can sort out what type of freebie you want using the drop-down lists on the left-hand side of the screen too.

While you may find that this is predominantly made up of free Kindle books, these are not to be sneezed at. Although you may find that it will take you a while to go through them all as the range on offer is pretty prodigious. Enjoy it though, I am not sure how long they will stay on the site for.

Kids Freebie: Free After School Activities @ Petit Filous & Frubes

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 16 September, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Kids Freebie: Free After School Activities @ Petit Filous & Frubes

Petit Filous and Frubes have joined forces to launch the Petit Filous & Frubes After School Club which offers a whole range of exciting after school activities free with points collected from packs of Petit Filous or Frubes.

New research from Petit Filous suggests that keeping kids busy comes at a cost as a fifth of parents are paying £7 on average for their children’s after school activities. The Petit Filous and Frubes After School Club started this month – September 2012 – and points can be collected from any purchase of the products.

Free sessions can then be claimed by visiting the site above and choosing from various options available. The vouchers are valid until 26 November 2012 and must be booked by then at the latest. And it is worth noting that the purchase of a full price adult ticket may be required in order to receive a free session for an accompanying adult or child at some participating venues.

This seems interesting but I strongly advise you to see how many points you need for an activity, whether or not you have to pay for an adult ticket, see how many packets of product you have to buy in order to be eligible, and work out whether or not it is actually free or even cheaper.

Mums Freebie: Free Dirty Works Supreme Body Butter

Mums Freebie: Free Dirty Works Supreme Body Butter

I love weird body butter creams and lotions and potions. I especially enjoy the ones that you don’t expect to be amazing, the ones that look a bit odd and turn out to be the best thing in the world ever. I have a feeling that this body butter might fit this bill for some reason and I’m delighted that I get to try it out for free. Maybe it’s the name?

I adore the Soap and Glory range of products that look remarkably similar to this range of products from Dirty Works. I bought a Soap and Glory body scrub that smells, quite frankly, astonishing. It is my best treat ever.

Dirty Works have joined with Sainsburys Magazine to offer their new fans a mini Supreme Cream Body Butter to try out. To claim your free sample, simply Like their page and then email your name, UK address, and post code to dirtyworks@brandarchitekts.com. Done.

Freebies: Free Sample Of Aquafresh Fresh And Minty Or Free Toothbrush

by Sarah Macdonald in Freebies on 10 September, 2012 at 10:00 am

Freebies: Free Sample Of Aquafresh Fresh And Minty Or Free ToothbrushI'm in a freebie mood today - what's not to love about something for nothing, especially when it's something that's useful and beneficial!

Aquafresh are giving away free samples of their Fresh and Minty toothpaste, or a new toothbrush, and all you have to do to claim it is sign up to join their Aquafresh club.

Aquafresh toothpaste always takes me back to being little; I remember there being much excitement when toothpaste went from being plain white (or pink a'la Mentadent P - do you remember that?) to having three stripes!

Teeth cleaning is a strange thing - my daughter has fabulous teeth and is rather proud of the fact that at 17 she has never had a filling; my eldest son (18) never liked having his teeth cleaned as a child and will avoid doing it to this very day if he can get away with it (honestly, I despair!) and my youngest son just gets on with it quietly - he doesn't love it like Ellie did, and does, he knows it's just something you do.

This latest Aquafresh freebie campaign forms part of their mission to get families cleaning their teeth more and reduce the (unacceptably) high level of tooth decay in our children.

Freebies: Four Free Fabric Samples @ Made.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Freebies on 10 September, 2012 at 9:00 am

Freebies: Four Free Fabric Samples @ Made.comI've just ordered four free fabric samples from made.com and I'm rather excited about them - I hope they arrive really quickly!

I absolutely ADORE freebies like this four free fabric samples one; it helps that I have a bit of a 'thing' for funky fabrics - my chosen free fabric samples are at the funky end of the fabric spectrum too, the ones above are the samples I chose! - and I can already see what I'm going to do with them.

I say I when I really mean my mum - you see, I'm actually not so handy when it comes to all things needle and cotton.  Sure, I can repair a fallen hem, I can even knock up a pair of curtains - well it's not hard, they're just huge rectangles, or squares, or fabric with hems and tabs or ruffler tape across the top - but I'm pretty rubbish when it comes to things like cushions that button, or tie, up.

And THAT is what I want to make with my four free fabric samples!  I have no idea how big they're going to be, but I can't see them being anything huge like a square meter, so I thought a patchwork cushion with the four free fabric samples as the feature patches would be pretty cool - especially if it looks professionally made because I didn't do it!

You have to create an account to be able to order your four free fabric samples, but that's hardly a hardship is it, and they'll email you a '£10 off your first order' voucher too.

Fab Freebie: Free Gift @ Silver Spoon

If you register with Silver Spoon between Friday 10 August and Sunday 30 September you can get a free Silver Spoon Create mystery gift. They have 10,000 of these free Silver Spoon Create gifts to give away so get registering to get your freebie.

There is absolutely no information as to what these mystery prizes might be. I really like this as it could be anything! Will you get a silver spoon, or will it be a teeny, tiny sample pack instead? The endless variety amuses me greatly.

You cannot enter unless in the UK, you must register with Baking Mad to be entered into the freebie draw, and you will find out what your mystery prize is after 31 October 2012. You will need to write the words ‘lucky dip’ in the reference box which is actually the box where it says ‘recommended by’. You should be ok if you just enter that in wherever you can think of as they look really helpful with this issue.

The Woogie 2 Review

by Tamsin Oxford in Reviews on 20 August, 2012 at 5:00 pm

The Woogie 2 Review

Isn’t that just the best name for a product ever? The Woogie 2 is the awesome iPhone case for kids from Griffin technology and something that I really do recommend. I discovered Griffin purely by accident when I was shopping for a cover for my iPhone. My last phone, the HTC Hero, had been dropped, kicked, chewed, and dropped some more and the poor thing was a total wreck. I was taking no chances with my iPhone 4S.

The Griffin case I got is the Survivor in pink and my phone has been dropped down the stairs five times, dropped on the road several times and kicked more than once. It has also been in the rain and is utterly fine. There are some touch issues but overall the case has saved my iPhone’s life.

The Woogie 2 is this enormous and cuddly dude that houses the iPhone and keeps it utterly safe as kids play games and use the phone for entertainment. You can use the Woogie 2 on long trips on holiday as the feet form a kind of table to sit on a child’s lap, and it can handle any surface you throw at it except water. Water is a No Go.

Ok but wait, you see Woogie 2 is more than just a comfy case for your iPhone, there is also an app that brings Woogie to life with 10 faces that are activated by your child’s actions. So if your kid laughs, Woogie will too, if she shakes him, then he goes all dizzy. It’s hilarious. He even talks back a bit and comes with a quiet option to save parental sanity.

The Woogie 2 is on sale for £19.99 on Amazon and Griffin and is just genius. Honestly, I love the free app, the fact that it keeps my phone safe while my daughter plays with her apps on it, and that it is SO soft and cuddly.
