Fireman Sam Colouring Table £7.50 @ Very

Fireman Sam Colouring Table £7.50 @ Very

There’s this rather funky Fireman Sam Colouring Table on sale at Very for just £7.50 – half price.

I really think this is a pretty nifty idea, and it’s probably been around for ages, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it.

Basically it’s a table – which is apparently easy to assemble, as you simply push the four legs into the table top – with a 10m colouring roll which you feed through to have constantly changing pictures that don’t end up lying all over the house.

There are also six markers and six jumbo crayons with spaces specifically for them. They’re also all wrapped in Fireman Sam packaging, as are the legs and sides of the table. (There’s really no doubt that this is a Fireman Sam table!)

I’m not sure what happens when your 10m are finished though. You could probably get a blank roll of paper from your local art supplier though, but no guarantees.

There are a couple of reviews of this, and the recipients seem pretty happy with it and say they’d recommend it, so it seems like a pretty good idea!

Fireman Sam DVD Box Set £2.99 @ HMV

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 July, 2011 at 8:00 am

Fireman Sam DVD Box Set £2.99 @ HMVHMV are selling this 3-disc Fireman Sam DVD box set for a mere £2.99 at the moment; it's £3.97 at Amazon and £4.85 at The Hut.

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Fireman Sam.

Not only does he remind me of when my youngest was little (he's growing up too fast), he reminds me of days gone by when he had cult status at my senior school.

Goodness knows how this came to be, it was an all girls school and I was 15 when racing home to catch the latest instalment of the 'hero next door' became THE thing to do.

I lived too far away from school to make it back in time, so I used to watch it with my friend Helen - we'd arrive back at her house, make toast, cover it in butter and settle down in time for a timely lesson in fire safety from, possibly, the most pompous character on kids TV.

And that's where the hate bit should come into play - could Fireman Sam BE any more patronising?

The man can do no wrong! He always saves the day and everyone fawns over him to such an extent that I really want NOT to like him, but I do.

Perhaps it's because it's good, old fashioned, kids TV (even though he's computer generated now, not like he was back in my day) that is wholesome and carries a serious message along with its innocent entertainment.

The three DVDs making up this box set are: The New Hero Next Door, Red Alert and Sticky Situation.  They're in stock and delivery is free.

Fireman Sam 10 DVD Box Set £13.85 @ Zavvi

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 July, 2011 at 8:00 am

Fireman Sam 10 DVD Box Set £13.85 @ ZavviZavvi have knocked £16.14 OFF this set of 10 Fireman Sam DVDs, making them just £13.85 now.

My youngest loved watching both Fireman Sam and Postman Pat when he was little - ok, he still IS little but  not little enough for Fireman Sam now - and I have to say, Postman Pat just annoyed me.

I'm surprised Fireman Sam didn't do the same;  did he ever do anything wrong? No. Did he sometimes come across as being incredibly patronising and condescending? YES!

So in theory I shouldn't like him at all, but I do.

He reminds of my friend Helen from school; we'd go home to her house after school, watch Fireman Sam and eat toast - Fireman Sam had cult status in our senior school for some bizarre reason you see.

The other thing I like about the entire Fireman Sam concept is the teaching kids fire safety element - Postman Pat doesn't do that! - and I can't help but wonder how many fire accidents have been prevented because of it.

This Fireman Sam 10 Disc DVD boxset comes presented in a Jupiter case (Jupiter is the name of Fireman Sam’s fire engine, in case you didn’t  know) and is bound to make your little firefighter jump for joy.

Jumbo Games 25% Off @ Amazon

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 18 June, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Jumbo Games 25% Off @ AmazonAmazon has a 25% sale on selected Jumbo Games in its special offers this week. The games include the Peppa Pig Tumble & Spin Electronic Memory Game, reduced from £12.99 to £9.48.

Jigsaw puzzles included in the offer are Guess with Jess, Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam, Disney Handy Manny 53 Piece Giant Acitivty Floor Jigsaw Puzzle, and the Peppa Pig Giant 24 Piece Rocket Floor Jigsaw Puzzle.

The games that are part of the special offer, as well as the Peppa Pig Tumble and Spin Electronic Memory game are the Peppa Pig Jumping Pigs Game and Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom Lotto Game.

This is a fairly good discount, and handy if you need to buy one of these puzzles or games right now. If you can wait though, especially if you're looking to stock up for Christmas or for the birthday present drawer, then I would do so.

The Peppa Pig Tumble & Spin game, for example, has been on sale for around £6.50 at both Amazon and Play.com before, so it is likely it will take a dip again.

It is a hard call to make. I find that I forget to keep checking for better bargains throughout the year so go for it when I do find a discount. Do you have any tips or tricks you'd like to share for keeping on top of finding the lowest bargain price possible?

Fireman Sam Fire Engine £4.99 @ Argos eBay Outlet

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 May, 2011 at 11:00 am

Fireman Sam Fire Engine £4.99 @ Argos eBay OutletThe Argos eBay outlet are selling this Fireman Sam Fire Engine for £4.99.

I still find it exciting to see fire engines rushing down the road, with their sirens wailing, en route to rescue a kitten stuck in a tree!

Fireman Sam had cult status in my senior school, anyone who was anyone would rush home to watch the latest installment of Wales' most famous fire fighter; bizarre really, now I come to think about it, we were all aged between 15 and 16.

This Fireman Sam fire engine isn't just a run of the mill Fireman Sam fire engine; it's a FRICTION Fireman Sam fire engine.

Pushing cars, trucks and fire engines along is all well and good, but it's much more fun to be able to pull them back and then let them GO!

You'd think doing the same thing over and over again would get boring, but not with friction cars (or a Fireman Sam fire engine) I could watch them drive across the lounge carpet for HOURS.

Delivery costs just 99p with the Argos eBay outlet and takes, on average, between two and three days to arrive; much more pocket friendly than the £5.95 next day delivery with Argos itself.

Fireman Sam New Hero Next Door DVD Collection £9.99 @ HMV

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 1 February, 2011 at 11:00 am

Fireman Sam New Hero Next Door DVD Collection £9.99 @ HMVHMV are selling this Fireman Sam New Hero Next Door DVD Collection for £9.99 instead of £12.99.

My youngest loved Fireman Sam a couple of years ago and used to giggle a lot at all the naughty things Norman Price got up to.

I quite like Fireman Sam too, which is somewhat surprising as he has all the potential to really get up my nose with his patronising can-do-no-wrong manner.

He reminds me of days gone by though as he,  somehow, acheived cult status at my senior school.

I went to a girls school so maybe it was the whole ‘fireman thing’ that did it, I don’t know. But what I DO know is you weren’t ‘in’ if you weren’t into Fireman Sam!

There are three DVDs in this Fireman Sam New Hero Next Door DVD Collection, full of great Fireman Sam adventures with the all the folks from Pontypandy.

And of course, apart from the being rivetting entertainement for youngsters (and strange teenagers), there is the all-important and ever-present fire safety message.

I wonder how many kids have actually learned and remembered some fire safety courtesey of Fireman Sam?

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 November, 2010 at 9:00 am

Fireman Sam 10 Disc DVD Box Set £17.93 @ AsdaHere's a smoking hot deal on this Fireman Sam 10 disc DVD box set for your little firefighter.

I'm rather surprised I like Fireman Sam - he has all the potential to really get up my nose with his patronising can-do-no-wrong manner.

But he teaches fire safety you see, and ANY fire message that can be put across to little kids is a good thing in my book.

But not only that, Fireman Sam reminds me of days gone by as he, somehow, acheived cult status at my senior school.

I went to a girls school so maybe it was the whole 'fireman thing' that did it, I don't know. But what I DO know is you weren't 'in' if you weren't into Fireman Sam!

My youngest loved Fireman Sam a couple of years ago and used to giggle a lot at all the naughty things Norman Price got up to - he particularly liked the one where Norman got stuck up on the mountain with the sheep!

This Fireman Sam 10 Disc DVD boxset comes presented in a Jupiter case (Jupiter is the name of Fireman Sam's fire engine, in case you didn't  know) and is yours for £17.93.

It's over £21 in store and is an Asda exclusive, so it won't be available anywhere else - I've just spent far too long trawling the internet looking!

Fireman Sam DVD Collection £3.49 @ HMV

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 October, 2010 at 8:00 am

Fireman Sam DVD Collection £3.49 @ HMVThis Fireman Sam three DVD collection is a smoking hot deal from HMV - it's been reduced from £12.99 down to £3.49.

Fireman Sam has been in my life since I was about 14 (which is quite a while ago now!).

For some unknown reason he attained cult status at my school. Anyone who was anyone would rush home to watch the latest episode, full of high drama, on kids TV.

If you didn't know all the words to the Fireman Sam theme, well...it was just too awful to contemplate and I can still sing-a-long-a-Fireman Sam to this very day!

"...he's always on the scene, Fireman Sam, and his engine's bright and clean, Fireman Sam, you can-not ignore...Sam is the hero next doorrrr!"

This came in very useful when my youngest was tiny and couldnt'/wouldn't sleep - singing this very quietly, walking around in a dark room would send him off within minutes...maybe it was just my bad singing that did it, who knows!

There are three DVDs in this Fireman Sam DVD collection, full of great Fireman Sam adventures with the all the folks from Pontypandy.

And of course, apart from the being rivetting entertainement for youngsters (and strange teenagers), there is the all-important and ever-present fire safety message. I wonder how many kids have actually learned and remembered some fire safety courtesey of Fireman Sam?
