Family Freebie: Free Pack Of Bakers Dog Treats

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 19 August, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Family Freebie: Free Pack Of Bakers Dog Treats

Many of us have pooches playing about our homes and we adore those fluffy creatures to pieces. We also spend a lot of money taking care of them and feeding them, so any freebie that helps us out will do very nicely. Such as this ace freebie from Bakers where you can get a sample of their new dog treats sent to your front door.

Now, before we get into the meat (hahah) of this freebie I must say that all details were correct at the time of writing. Freebies are a complicated art and often the suppliers run out or the site gets wonky or some kind of error occurs due to high demand. I apologise in advance for these occurrences but sadly have no control over them at all.

To business…

The Bakers dog treats are all over the advertising waves at the moment. You’ve probably seen the ad with dogs doing a runner with the truck in order to steal all the treats. Well, fill in this form, wait patiently, and you’ll get a free sample of Bakers dog treats for your pooch to enjoy.

Family Freebie: Free Snack A Jacks Sample

Family Freebie: Free Snack A Jacks Sample

I had never heard of Snack a Jacks until recently but when I first tasted them at a party my first thought was, “Yummy!” These snacks are really scrumptious and what better way to celebrate their deliciousness than by getting some in as a freebie.

The freebie is as simple as can be. You click on the link above and then fill in the form. I would advise you to use Internet Explorer as your browser when you are doing this as I had some difficulties with Chrome, and one other person mentioned that they couldn’t get the form to work in Firefox either.

Clearly this is not a freebie optimised for the web!

Anyway, you don’t have a lot to fill in really, you just throw in a couple of bits of information and soon your scrummy snack will be winging its way on to you. I also recommend you sign up for the newsletter so you’re the first to know of any other freebies or special offers.

What do you think of Snack a Jacks? Love 'em? Hate 'em?

Live The London High Life For Free

Live The London High Life For Free

No, I’m not having you on. The Big Smoke actually has quite a few places to go and things to do with children that are utterly and completely free. Some are awesome, some are touristy, some are plain old fashioned fun, and others will surprise you.

To start with, unless you live in London, you’re going to have to pay for your transportation. Depending on where you live, you can often get discounted rail tickets for adults by booking in advance. Southern Rail offer advance tickets for as little as £3.75 and children cost only £1 each way.

Live The London High Life For FreeI’m not particularly impressed that the railways charge children but at least it’s not exorbitant. Also, when you book your tickets online, don’t book the children’s tickets. They come up as at least £3 each way so it is far better for you to get those from the ticket office on the day.

Once you’ve arrived in London you’ll hear the magic words, “children travel for free”, when you get your Tube tickets. Regular customers will have Oyster cards but if you’re just there for the day then go for a full day pass so you have access across the board. You can also use your day pass to nab a “free” bus tour on the number 11 bus from Fulham to Liverpool street. Don’t pay for the tour bus, do your own!

Live The London High Life For FreeTo start with head on over to the Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens. It’s situated next to Kensington Palace and is brilliant for kids up to the age of 12. You’ll find loads of great rides there, including an awesome wooden pirate ship and tepees!

While you’re in Kensington, little fans of Peter Pan will enjoy visiting his statue in Kensington Gardens, the very park that inspired the author to write the story in the first place. Take the children to see Peter blowing his pipes and then enjoy a picnic in the sumptuous gardens.

Live The London High Life For FreeAnother place to visit that I happen to think is pure genius, is 23-24 Leinster Gardens. These beautiful houses are not what they seem. Oh no, these are actually complete and utter fakes that hide a railway line! Watch your children’s (and your) mouths fall open when you show them that these are not real houses. The originals were torn down to make way for the steam train vents.

Next up is Kids Zone at the National Army Museum. If you’re travelling with a partner who’s into such history, they can wander off and soak up some fascinating facts while you enjoy the free entertainment with the kids. You may have to queue up a bit before you can go in but the forest army camp, castle fortress and activity centre more than make up for it.

Live The London High Life For FreeThen head on over to the Museum of London Docklands via the DLR and try to get a seat in the front of the train. These trains don’t need any drivers so you and your tots can pretend to be train drivers! Then, when you get to the museum, head on over to the Mudlarks play area that’s been created to provide fun and education in one brilliant spot.

Depending on the age of your kids you can also get into most of the museums and art galleries for free. Some of the museums do charge entry but happen to have free days or free periods that you can take advantage of with a little forward planning. Check out their websites for more information.

Live The London High Life For FreeWhile the Tower of London does cost you moolla, the Ceremony of the Keys does not. Oh yes. You can apply for tickets to this ceremony that takes place every night at 21.53 and allow your kids a late night they will always remember. The tickets are absolutely free but you will have to apply at least two months in advance.

If pomp and ceremony are what you want for free then take your kids to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. This is not just for tourists, it’s actually loads of fun and kids simply love being close to the palace. You can even take a picnic for some yummy snacks while you wait and watch. Then, when you’re done with watching the guards, take your tots to the Guards Museum where they can see all sorts of weapons, uniforms and paintings, and they can even dress up as a guard.

This is only touching the sides of the fabulous things you can do for free in London, there are loads of other places to go that won’t cost you a cent and will guarantee you a magical day. If you pack your own snacks and lunch then you’re looking at the cost of your travel only. So happy exploring!

Family Freebie: Free Sample Of Bakers Healthy Delights For Doggies

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 15 July, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Family Freebie: Free Sample Of Bakers Healthy Delights For Doggies

The other children in our lives, the little hairy barking kind, will love this great freebie. Bakers are giving away free samples of their Healthy Delights treats for dogs and you only have to register to get your own.

I know we are all about baby freebies, but sometimes those furry friends can end up costing us almost as much and every little helps. These delights look really yum, actually yummy enough for us to eat, so your pups should love them.

I remember listening to one of the Chris Evans’ drive time shows a couple of years ago when he got everyone in his studio to eat dog food. The premise was that, by law, dog food has to be edible by humans and they were going to see what it tasted like.

The show consisted of lots of groaning and you could almost hear them turning green as they shoved that cold stuff in their mouths. Personally, I won’t be doing that, even though these treats are free. But if you wanted to grab a taste of your freebie, well, I guess there’s nothing stopping you now.

Family Freebie@ Free 60 Day Trial Of Microsoft Autoroute 2010

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 9 July, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Family Freebie@ Free 60 Day Trial Of Microsoft Autoroute 2010

This is an extremely useful programme to own as it can help you prepare every last detail of your holiday journey and save you hours of stress and drama. Microsoft are currently offering people a free 60 day trial which is, let’s face it, pretty awesome.

If you’re planning on going on a driving holiday at any point over the next few months then this software is definitely going to help you out. I would advise you to hang on a bit before you download it so you don’t end up having an expired solution just before you leave.

Valued at £44.99, the product will give you a complete trip planner including multiple destinations, rest stops, scenic detours, and fuel stops. You can add your own notes and get detailed information for more than a million locations.

Just one warning before you start, you can lose hours to this fantastically fun toy.

Family Freebie: Star Wars Starring YOU

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 20 May, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Family Freebie: Star Wars Starring YOU

This is a fantastic freebie that won’t take more than a few seconds of your time to prepare and will have you and your kids roaring with laughter. If you’ve ever wanted to be in your own Star Wars movie then this is your moment!

Ok so the premise is simple. You upload an image of yourself, or your kids, using the very easy click through controls. You will first be given the option to choose which character you want to be. Han Solo, Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian or Luke Skywalker. You can change all these faces to members of your own family.

Obviously this is going to keep you busy for a bit as it will have you chortling away to yourselves as you choose the right pictures. And fighting over who gets to be Han Solo, obviously. The movie itself is hilarious and well worth watching and sharing.

You can post it to Facebook, or download it and keep it, it’s entirely up to you. Either way, you get your own cool movie for free. Oh, and you can also do the other two Star Wars movies if the mood strikes you. Excuse the pun.

Family Freebie: Hearty Oats Loaf From Hovis

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 20 May, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Family Freebie: Hearty Oats Loaf From Hovis

Fancy a yummy, scummy free loaf of tasty bread? Well Hovis are giving away loaves of their new Hearty Oats bread and all you need to do is fill in a short survey in order to nab your freebie.

Hovis Hearty Oats Bread is the only bread available from a major bread brand where 50% of the flour has been replaced by oats. Two slices of this scrummy bread a day will make up around a third of your suggested daily intake of beta glucan.

I had no idea we even needed beta glucan so I am definitely going to read up on that. Anyway this substance apparently maintains cholesterol levels as a part of a diet low in saturated fat and a healthy lifestyle. I imagine that it would pair beautifully with low fat olive spread for those of you watching their waistlines this summer.

The survey shouldn’t take you too long but please note that you are not guaranteed to be offered a trial pack – they assess your answers according to some kind of internal system and then will either send you a pack or not. I got mine easily enough though.
