The Secret Seven Book Collection £15.99 @ The Book PeopleIf you're looking for a new collection of bedtime stories to work through, then you could do worse than considering this Secret Seven book collection.  If you head over to the Book People, you'll be able to pick up a collection for £15.99 rather than the full list price of £74.85.

I have a confession to make: I've not read a single Secret Seven book! Not one.  Nor a Famous Five one.  I am, however, a huge Enid Blyton fan and know I can safely recommend this Secret Seven book collection without fear of it being rubbish.

I read all the Adventure books that she wrote, the first one was Mountain of Adventure - seriously, if you can get hold of those then DO! They are awesome stories, very similar to the Secret Seven and Famous Five, that grab you from the first few pages and refuse to let you go until you've read the every single word.

Single item delivery will cost you an additional £2.80, there were some free delivery codes floating around a while ago - try TULIP or MARWEL but don't hold your breath, they may well have expired.

Happy discovering the Secret Seven

Malory Towers/ St Clare's Box Set £8.99 @ WH Smith

Malory Towers/ St Clare's Box Set £8.99 @ WH Smith

Enid Blyton's Malory Towers box set are on sale at WHSmith for £8.99, reduced from £49.99 if the website is to be believed. A similar set with 9 books is currently £38.17 at Amazon.

Enid Blyton wrote six books for the Malory Towers series between 1946 and 1951.

Malory Towers is a boarding school in Cornwall, where the heroine Darrell Rivers, enters the school in the first form and the stories follow her through to being headgirl in sixth form.

Malory Towers has six forms, from the first to the sixth, and four house towers—North, South, East and West. There are about forty girls in each form, divided among the four houses. Darrell and her friends are in North Tower, where most of the action takes place, and where the girls try not to run foul of strict housemistress Miss Potts, or the equally strict Matron.

St Clare's is a boarding-school for girls, and the story follows their adventures through the first - fifth forms of school.

Two Famous Five Books 70th Anniversary Editions £5.99 @ Red House Books

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 May, 2012 at 11:00 am

Two Famous Five Books 70th Anniversary Editions £5.99 @ Red House BooksRed House Books are selling two Famous Five books - Five on a Treasure Island and Five go to Smugglers Top - that have been illustrated by Quentin Blake to celebrate their 70th Anniversary for £5.99 instead of £11.98.

Of all the Enid Blyton books I read as a child, the Famous Five stories weren't among them!

I don't know why, but they just never appealed to me - I read the Adventure series, which were very similar kids-turn-detective-and-get-themselves-into-all-sorts-of-trouble stories, and the Malory Towers series, along with Enid Blyton's Book of Fairies, but NOT the Famous Five.

I don't know what it was about them that put me off, you know - maybe it was the boring looking covers they had!  If they'd been illustrated by Quentin Blake back in the day then maybe I'd have been more interested - look at them, don't they look fun!

So, if you want to introduce your children to a time when lashings of ginger beer was a good thing, and kids went out for the entire day, didn't have mobile phones and got up to all sorts of mischief then these two Famous Five books are the way to go.

Single item delivery will cost you an additional £1.95 unless your order total is over £15, in which case delivery then becomes FREEEE!

Famous Five Book Collection £9.99 @ The Book People

Famous Five Book Collection £9.99 @ The Book PeopleIf you were a fan of Enid Blyton's Famous Five then you might want to pop over to The Book People and have a look at this deal.

This Famous Five Book Collection features the first 10 books of the Famous Five franchise, and come all nice and neatly presented in their own slip case.

I can't really tell you much about a collection of such well-known books, so here's a bit of Famous Five trivia for you...

Enid Blyton penned the first Famous Five book - Five on a Treasure Island - in 1942.  She only ever intended to write between six and eight stories featuring Julian, Dick, Anne, George (who was actually Georgina) and Timmy the dog, but due to popular demand went on to produce 21 Famous Five adventures.

There was a Famous Five TV series produced and aired between 1978 and 1979 - I vaugly remember watching some of the 26 episodes that were made.

If you want to revisit your Famous Five days or introduce your child to a world where lashings of ginger beer was a good thing, then you'll be pleased to know that you can pick up this Famous Five Book Collection for £9.99 instead of the £49.90 list price.

Unless you're going to spend £25 or more with The Book People, in total, you'l have to pay a £1.95 single item delivery charge too.

All 5 Of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers Books for £4.99 @ The Book People

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 July, 2011 at 12:00 pm

All 5 Of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers Books for £4.99 @ The Book PeopleI know I'm not the target audience for these Malory Towers books anymore, but I might just have to buy them regardless; I read them when I was a little girl and I LOVED them!

I remember some parts of the stories so vividly, even now, that it feels like I read them just the other day...not THIRTY or more years ago (wow, I've just made myself feel really old!).

They tell the story of a girl named Darrell who goes off to the Malory Towers boarding school and each book charts every year of her time there.

There are, of course, nice girls and not-so-nice girls and tales of rivalry and general girly 'nastiness' abound, but in true Enid Blyton style things tend to work out ok in the end.

The covers are different now - I can't say I like them, the ones I had were water colour paintings of real girls, rather than cartoons - but the stories are just the same.

I distinctly remember wanting to be Darrell Rivers (such a GREAT name) and hoping my mum would send me off to boarding school too, so I could have a jolly fun time as well.

The Book People are selling the entire set of five books for just £4.99, which is an absolute bargain when I think of the immense enjoyment that's going to be had whilst reading them.
