Animagic Toffee Electric Pony £30 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 15 February, 2012 at 12:00 pm

Animagic Toffee Electric Pony £30 @ DebenhamsThis Animagic Toffee Electric Pony is currently half price at Debenhams; his usual price is £60, you can take him home for £30 and there's nothing extra to pay for delivery either.

I've grown up with horses; I started riding when I was four-years-old and have been in love with the long-tailed, four-legged, pointy-eared beasts ever since.  When I was little I couldn't get enough of horses and ponies and would have loved one of these Animagic Toffee ponies to play with when I was away from my real one (his name was Minder).

I know his eyes look a bit demonic in the picture but, trust me, your pony-crazy child won't notice that!  Instead, they'll just love that Toffee sways his head, blinks his eyes, wiggles his ears and neighs.

He also chews when you feed him carrots, falls asleep when he's tired and when he gets scared his ears tremble; wow, even at my age I still think I'd love one a Toffee pony of my own.

Animagic Toffee pony needs four AA batteries, which aren't included and he's suitable for young equestrians aged two years and over.

Whilst there's nothing to pay to have your Animagic Toffee Pony delivered to your home, you still have the choice to go and collect him from your nearest Debenhams store if you prefer.

Vtevh My Laptop £11.25 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 18 November, 2011 at 11:00 am

Vtevh My Laptop £11.25 @ DebenhamsThis isn't the cheapest I've seen this Vtech My Laptop being sold for, but it is the cheapest around at the moment; if you want to take back ownership of your computer/laptop, then this might be worth having a look at.

Computer, laptops, iPads, iTouchs, anything starting with i  in fact, are no longer the just the play things of grown-ups. The trouble with living in a world where children are very savvy with all things tech', is they want what you have!

I've lost count of the number of times I've handed over my laptop, in the past, to my youngest son so that he can do his best digital Jackson Pollock impression in Paint. Then he'd move on to a bit of Cbeebies online and play games on the Thomas and Friends website - I considered myself lucky if I was 'allowed' two minutes to quickly check email.

If all this is sounding familiar then a Vtech My Laptop could be your knight in shining plastic and microchip.

With it, your child will learn early computer skills which, like it or not, is necessary these days; age-appropriate curriculum, including phonics, numbers, logic and all sorts of other things like pattern recognition.  It has a mouse too that's not right-hand biased, so if you have a little' lefty' then they won't find it awkward.

It's suitable for little computer boffins aged between three and six years and is powered by three AA batteries; no mains power option by the look of it, which is a bti rubbish.

To bring the £12.50 website price down to £11.25, simply enter code LM93 into the promotion box in your basket; standard delivery is free as is in-store collection, if you'd prefer.

Vtech Mobigo Touch Learning System £34.99 @ AllBabyNeeds

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 26 August, 2011 at 10:00 am

Vtech Mobigo Touch Learning System £34.99 @ AllBabyNeedsAllBabyNeeds.co.uk are selling this Vtech Mobigo Touch Learning System, with a Shrek Forever After game, for £34.99 instead of £49.99.

If you don't want the Shrek version then you could head over to Amazon instead - they're selling the Vtech Mobigo Touch with a Cars 2 game, BUT you are going to pay £40.00 for it.

My youngest son is so 'tech'd up' it's crazy - he's had an iPod Touch since he was four and is on a mission to persuade his dad to upgrade to an iPad2 so he can inherit the current iPad - he's not daft that one!

If you're not quite ready to kit your child out with all things 'i' then this Vtech Mobigo Touch might be a better place to start.

It has a compact and stylish design and that, all important, touch sensitive ‘finger touch’ screen for interactive fun whilst learning at the same time, you can always rely on Vtech for that.

Slide up the screen on the Vtech Mobigo Portable Learning System to reveal a QWERTY keyboard and 4-directional cursor to practice typing skills and for more classic game-play controls, although your child won’t know they’re using ‘classic’ game-play controls hahaa, only us ‘old folk’.

There’s a lot packed into the Vtech Mobigo Touch Learning System; it teaches curriculum based school skills including English, maths, colours, shapes and more.

Happy touch learning!

Leapfrog Learn And Groove Activity Table £17.49 @ TescoDirect

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 June, 2011 at 10:00 am

Leapfrog Learn And Groove Activity Table £17.49 @ TescoDirectThis Leapfrog Learn and Groove table is a favourite of ours here at PlayPennies; Tesco Direct are selling it for £17.49 instead of £34.97 at the moment.

The Leapfrog Learn and Groove activity table is suitable for little active groovers aged six months and over and is jam packed with some great features; you really won't go wrong with anything from Leapfrog.

The legs of the Leapfrog Learn and Groove musical table come off allowing little ones who can’t stand yet to enjoy playing with it.

I don't see any reason why younger babies wouldn't enjoy messing around it either. Although they would have to be sitting on your lap to do it, but why restrict musical genius? You could have a little Mozart on your hands.

OK, so maybe the classical genius bit can wait but in the meantime there are 15 musical activities in English and French with over 40 songs and melodies for your child to enjoy and get to grips with.

In the learning mode your child can explore letters, numbers from 1 to 10, colours and opposites.

Everything is brightly coloured to engage your child's early senses and their fine motor skills will be developed through ever-increasing accuracy of all the button pressing they'll be doing to trigger the songs, lights and melodies - this also teaches cause and effect.

The lovely folks at Leapfrog haven't just designed this with children in mind, they've spared a thought for us parents and included a volume feature too; wonderful.

Free collection to a Tesco store near you is an option or you can pay £5.95 for next day delivery.

Happy Learning and Grooving!

Bugsby Reading System £12.99 @ Vtech

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 24 May, 2011 at 9:00 am

Bugsby Reading System £12.99 @ VtechThe folks over at Vtech have a special offer running on this Bugsby Reading System; they're selling him for less than half price, £12.99 instead of £29.99.

I must confess I'm a traditional book kind of girl.  I'm not a fan of electronic books and I gave my Kindle away as it just wasn't the same reading experience not being able to turn paper pages.

That said, if electronic books, like this Bugsby Reading System, are what it takes to encourage reading in youngsters aged between three and seven years old, then I'm all for them!

The Bugsby Reading System is an expandable system with other Bugsby story cartridge titles available featuring well-loved characters like Scooby Doo, Sponge Bob Square Pants and the Mr Men and Little Miss.

Vtech currently have half price deals on the story cartridges too, £5.99 instead of £12.99 .

The pen used to interact with the book is Bugsby himself -  a Bookworm who promises to take your child on magical adventures of reading and discovery, they can even create their own stories too.

Bugsby’s little antennae light up, he has volume controls, a jack to plug headphones into (not included) and there’s no need for additional computer software either, just put the story cartridges, and 3 AAA batteries (again, not included) into his back and he’s ready to go!

The book itself is brightly coloured, durable and can be kept clean with a damp cloth.

You really aren’t going to go wrong with this one.  I've written about him before and I still can't find anyone with a bad word to say about the Bugsby Reading System.

Standard delivery is £5 and usually takes no more than 48 hours.

Half Price Paper Jamz Drumz @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 16 April, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Half Price Paper Jamz Drumz @ Toys R UsToys R Us are selling Paper Jamz Drusms for half price - that's £9.49 instead of £18.99.

I SO want to give these Paper Jamz Drums a bash, literally - they look like an awful lot of fun.

My mum plays the drums (she's also rides a rather large Japanese sports bike, she's a bit cool like that) but BOY are those drums noisy when they're beng beaten to within an inch of their lives. Not only that, they take up a lot of space AND a full kit really isn't one of the cheapest things on the planet.

So all hail the Paper Jamz Drums if your kids have developed a need for drumming.

They take up less space than a sheet of paper, in fact they are MADE of paper and won't cost you more than a tenner.

How do they work?  Well, Paper Jamz Drums have Active Graphics Technology which allows for circuit-embedded paper, enabling you to play like a pro by simply touching the paper surface.

There is also a built-in speaker and a line-out jack for earphone or amplifier connection and volume control is included too.

There are various modes of play and even a karaoke setting too - I think I'll skip that bit, I make small children cry when I attempt to sing!

Paper Jamz Drums are available for home delivery (£4.95) or free in-store collection (a much better idea).

Big Trak 2010 £14.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 April, 2011 at 9:00 am

Big Trak 2010 £14.99 @ AmazonAmazon are currently selling this Big Trak 2010 for £14.99 instead of £39.99 - but be warned, the price of this toy is going up and down, in various places, more than...I can't write what I was going to say then, but it was funny!

I've been looking at this Big Trak 2010 since it was launched last Summer to either much HURRAH from those who loved them as a kid, or a big thumbs down from those who said it was a pile of junk, didn't do anything and had no place in the 21st century.

I must confess I'm sitting on the fence with Big Trak 2010, STILL!

My cousin had a Big Trak when they first came out and I remember being INSANELY jealous. It was SO futuristic, it had touch pad buttons and it did what you'd programmed it to do - go straight ahead, turn left, turn right, turn round...that sort of thing.

Unfortunately Big Trak 2010 hasn't been given any new skills - it won't cook the dinner, vaccum the house or do the laundry so don't bother getting one for your mum for Mother's Day (which is tomorrow, by the way).

But if you loved one as a kid and want to try and recapture the 'glory days' of your childhood toys, then Big Trak 2010 might just put a smile on your face.

Cook and Play Potsy £12.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 March, 2011 at 9:00 am

Cook and Play Potsy £12.99 @ AmazonAmazon have knocked a fiver off this Leapfrog Cook and Play Potsy - it's up for grabs for £12.99 instead of £17.99.

Whilst I have a real love for traditional wooden toys that don't require batteries, you really won't go wrong with Leapfrog toys.  Kids love to play with them and they'll be learning all sorts of skills and aquiring knowledge without realising it.

This Cook and Play Potsy will help them to learn about opposites, listen to music and rhymes and explore counting, colours and more.

Your little one will also be developing their fine motor skills when they put the food items into Cook and Play Potsy, who'll magically respond when they do this or when they put on and remove the lid.

He's aimed at littlies aged between 12 and 36 months; he has a British voice too and comes with the 3AA batteries he needs as well.

Not only that you can connect him to the Internet and download personalised messages and custom playlists.

People who've already bought Cook and Play Potsy are thrilled with him...

"I bought this Cook and Learn Potsy for my grandaughter, she absolutely loves it as she can put plastic vegetables in the pot and stir them with a spoon provided, there is also music and songs, she loves to pretend she is cooking with her mum. My grandaughter is nearly 2 years old. I think this is a fun and educational toy."

"This is a great toy my little one is 1 and loves it. She loves throwing in all the food and giving it a good stir and hearing potsy speak to her. I think it is educational as the toy talks to you whilst you are playing and describes the food and colours.
I would recommend it."

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 February, 2011 at 10:00 am

Leapfrog Learn and Groove Musical Table £16.99 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this Leapfrog Learn and Groove Musical Table for HALF PRICE - £16.99 instead of £34.99 and the GOOD NEWS is *drum roll please* it's guaranteed at this price ALL WEEK; hurrah!

I do love a good activity table and this one ticks all the boxes for me.  The Leapfrog Learn and Groove Musical Table is suitable for little people who are six months and over; it almost seems a shame they can’t enjoy it from birth – well they could I suppose if YOU played with it with them on your lap!

With this Leapfrog Learn and Groove Musical Table your youngster will be able to unleash their inner musical genius.  Think Mozart! Think Beethoven!  Think Tchaikovsky!!

Ok, maybe not, but who cares?  Your mini groover will be having so much fun and there’ll be time for classical genius later.

The legs of the Leapfrog Learn and Groove musical table come off too; I think this is a brilliant idea as it means young ones who can’t stand yet can still enjoy playing with it.

Everything is brightly coloured to engage and excite your child’s senses and there are 15 musical activities in English and French with over 40 songs and melodies – now isn’t that a GOOD idea, the introduction of different languages at the earliest opportunity….what a shame the Government haven’t caught on to this yet – LEAP FROG for Government I say!

Oh and those lovely people over at Leapfrog have also given the Learn and Groove Musical Table volume control; marvellous.

The Leapfrog Learn and Groove Musical Table needs 3 AA batteries which aren’t included - well, I suppose we can't have everything - but even so, this is  still a great deal as elsewhere it’s selling for between £25 and £35.

Happy Grooving!

Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear £64.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 February, 2011 at 10:00 am

Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear £64.99 @ Argos*ATTENTION* Argos are selling this Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear for LESS THAN HALF PRICE - £64.99 instead of bank balance busting £149.99

This Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear is a must for any Toy Story fan - he's a walking, talking, animated Buzz Lightyear robot.

Out of all the Toy Story characters I must confes that Buzz Lightyear is one of my least favourites, there's something about him that just irritates me, although not as much as Jessie - she REALLY gets up my nose.

Ultimate Buzz Lightyear is suitable for little space cadets aged eight years and over and he EATS batteries - 11 AAs and 3 AAAs in fact. Seriously, get a decent rechargeable battery set otherwise you'll be battery bankrupt within three months.

On the plus side Ultimate Buzz Year sounds pretty cool. He says over 100 different phrases, you can pose his arms, legs and head and he'll record and play back those movements.

He uses infra-red wireless technology and has all sorts of flashing lights and other general robot 'things' going on.

Ultimate Buzz Lightyear isn't available for home delivery BUT I've checked stock levels with www.icheckstock.co.uk at various postcodes covering the country, and it looks as though he's currently available in most places.

I'd grab one whilst you can.

Vtech VSmile Pocket Learning System £18.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 3 February, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Vtech VSmile Pocket Learning System £18.99 @ ArgosArgos are confused. They clearly still think their Christmas sale is on and are selling this Vtech VSmile Pocket Learning System for £18.99 instead of £59.99; crazy, but GREAT.

Reading the spec' for this Vtech VSmile Pocket Learning System, I learned that there's software out there called Zayzoo - that sounds much more fun than any of the software I use...Adobe just doesn't have the same sort of ring to it.

Zayzoo software teaches word matching, spelling, maths, puzzles and all sorts. So all of the things that we want our children to learn through playing with toys like this.

The Vtech VSmile Pocket Learning System is is compatible with all VSmile learning games APART from: VSmile Art Studio, Dance 'n' Learn or Pocket Power Packs. It aslo requires four AA batteries which aren't included.

The recommended age range for the Vtech VSmile Pocket Learning System is between five and seven years, but I think you could get away with going a litle younger perhaps.

The reviews are excellent and whilst I don't normally write about things out of stock for home delivery (which this is), it would be worth being prepared to chase around a little bit to find an Argos store that has one, if your nearest one doesn't.

Vtech Winnie The Pooh Walker £18.49 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 January, 2011 at 9:00 am

Vtech Winnie The Pooh Walker £18.49 @ AmazonAmazon have a lovely price reduction on this Vtech Winnie the Pooh Walker at the moment - they've reduced it from £32.99 down to £18.49

Actually, I'd run rather than walk to Amazon and grab one - if you're in the market for something along these lines - this is such a good price that they'll either go out of stock a bit sharpish, OR Amazon will put it back up again (I wish I knew what the trigger was for putting their prices back up...).

My niece had a Vtech walker when she was younger and she absolutely loved it.

There are lots of lovely activities for little kiddies on this Vtech Winnie the Pooh Walker; plenty, even, for those who aren't walking yet.

There's a light-up honey pot, buzzy bee button, turning book page, sliding caterpillar, fun roller and spinning flower disk with mirror for self discovery.

The Vtech Winnie the Pooh Walker also introduces animals, sing-along songs and music through two modes of play.

It has textured wheels, an easy grip handle and folds away flat so it's easy to store when you're little one isn't playing with it.

The two AA batteries it needs are also included; hurrah!

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers £17.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 December, 2010 at 12:00 pm

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers £17.99 @ PlayPlay have a rather good deal on this My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers set, having reduced it from £34.99 down to £17.99.

Lots of happy childhood memories came flooding back when I saw this My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers set!

My brother had one and, not being a Barbie or Sindy sort of girl, I loved playing with it and racing those cars round and round.

Admittedly, as this was the best part of 30 years ago, the cars weren't BMW Mini Coopers, but they were Minis and they had names to - one of them was called Mini HaHa...that was the red one, and it was mine.

The track is a nice and simple figure of eight, for a frustration-free introduction to the world of Scalextric racing - there's nothing more irritating than spending more time putting your car back on the track than driving it round and round.

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers comes with two controllers and two BMW Mini Coopers in red and yellow.

There are also red and yellow chevrons on the track, so small people will find it easy to remember which car goes on which side of the track.

Happy Christmas Day Racing!

Dickie Mega Digger £24.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 October, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Dickie Mega Digger £24.99 @ Toys R UsToys R Us have a lovely half price deal on this Dickie Mega Digger! Bringing it down to £24.99 from £49.99.

Diggers have been part of my life since my youngest fell in love with JCBs and learned all about Joseph Cyril Bamford - he was the only nearly-three-yer-old I've ever known who could tell you all about the history of the JCB.

We have books about diggers.

He loves going to Digger Land - if you have a little digger fan then we can highly recommend it!

His favourite song is the JCB song by Nizlopi...you're getting that he loves diggers, right?

So can you imagine how excited he'd be if he discovered this remote control Dickie Mega Digger under the tree on Christmas morning?

It's a 1:14 scale model that is powered by 6 AA batteries, which are NOT included, and it has a rotating cab and a moving arm.

If that wasn't enough, then it also features realistic sounds and has flashing lights too.

You can arrange to collect this in store for FREEEE or pay £4.95 for standard delivery to your home.
