JCB Dump Truck Ride On £54.99 @ ELC

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 15 April, 2012 at 4:00 pm

JCB Dump Truck Ride On £54.99 @ ELC

The JCB ride-on dump truck usually retails at ELC for £64.99 but it is now down to £54.99 which is a tidy saving, if not an enormous one. There are over 70 of these ride-on toys available in stock at the moment so you still have time to nab one.

This is a large sit on chain driven JCB licensed pedal dumper truck which has a tipping front dumper and plenty of cool features. The dumping front section has a locking arm to hold it in position while kids are tearing about the house, or to help them scoop up all sorts of toys. It may even be helpful when tidying up?

The JCB dump truck has a chunky steering wheel, anti-slip pedals and a seat with a roll bar detail at the back. It has four rugged wheels, is realistically styled in accordance with the JCB license and is apparently great for your child’s development.

Double Discount On Selected Items @ ELC

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 14 April, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Double Discount On Selected Items @ ELC

There’s something a little odd going on at ELC, with selected items showing up as doubly discounted using the code below.  The HUKD member that posted it waited until receiving confirmation of items dispatched before posting it, so as far as we can tell there’s nothing with the deal and it’ll go ahead. By the way, if something is 20% off, you’ll get 20% off the original, then 20% off the new total, not double 20, if that makes sense outside my head!

Get a double discount at ELC

  • Discount: Double 20%
  • Expires: Unknown
  • Discount Code: Monkey

So, for example, if you were after a Pink Sand and Water Table, which we have been, you’ll be looking at £45. Use the code above and it seems to reduce it to £28.80. It adds £4.95 for delivery, but apparently once you go through to order, it gives you free next day delivery as an added bonus.

There are a number of items from ELC that are giving a double code at the moment, so have a look around and see what it works on. Apparently it’s also working on the double story play housepink junior trampoline, the pink bouncy castle and the bounce zone.

Smart Trike Plus Fresh £44.79 @ ELC

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 3 April, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Smart Trike Plus Fresh £44.79 @ ELC

This Smart Trike Plus Fresh in pink is on sale at ELC for £55.99, reduced from £69.99. How did we get to the low price of £44.79? Well, if you use the code LION, then you will get the price reduced and you will get free next day delivery too (make sure you select Next Day Delivery when you check out though). Bargain.

The Smart Trike Plus Fresh has a weird name but plenty of cool features to make up for it. Suitable for kids aged 12 months and up, this three-in-one tricycle grows with your child. At first it functions as a pushchair and as your child grows it easily transforms into a study trike.

The steering handle is adjustable and detachable so parents can control the trike in the early stages. There is also a safety bar, a long back support, a canopy, non-slip pedals, and a press-out clutch for freewheeling along while parent pushes. Plenty of cool features at a lovely low price.

Half Term Half Price Toys @ ELC

January Sales Baby Bargains

by Lynley Oram in Features on 19 January, 2012 at 1:00 pm

January Sales Baby BargainsIt is January. You probably already noticed that. Hard to miss it when all the telltale signs are there. Grey skies, dark afternoons and empty bank accounts. Another clue is all the signs up announcing January sales. Although that's not quite as much an indicator as it used to be. Nowadays, the January sales seem to start in December.

However, here we are coming into the tail end of the sales, and anything that is left is going to go bargain basement. Also, there are stores that do GASP start their sales in January, and others that refresh the stock in the sale section each week. Here's a roundup of the big retailers of baby stuff who are still running sales. Boots, for example, have finished their sales so we've not included them here. Likewise, JoJo Maman Bebe still has its sale section, but the winter sale with up to 75% off seems to be finished now.

The same with the Mothercare Clearance shop, although the usual reductions you'll find year round are in there so it is still worth having a look. Such as the 50% Off Top Products section.

ELC Fairy Treehouse Playset £18 @ Debenhams

The ELC Fairy Treehouse Playset is £18 at Debenhams with free delivery. It was £50 but is reduced by £30 to £20, and with the code below you can take off another £2. It’s £40 at Amazon right now, and £44.95 at ELC, once you factor in delivery, so this is quite a fantastic price if you’re in the market for your own little lump of fairy land.

A happy home for fairies from Debenhams

  • Discount: 10%
  • Discount code: VP42
  • Expires: Unknown

The ELC Fairy Treehouse Playset is suitable for tots from 18 months and up, I guess due to small parts.

It includes a treetop home, with a working doorbell – which requires 2xAA batteries – a wind-up basket for delivering all the groceries to the living area, a door that opens and closes, a slide for the fairies to go down, and a snail driven carriage.

The set also comes with three little fairy characters – a boy, girl and a baby – and a few little bits and pieces, like a tea set, according to the picture.

This is an utterly adorable deal that will make little faces light up this Christmas. ELC has marked the Vtech Hello Kitty Soothing Projector down from £15.99 to only £7.99 but you will have to pay hefty postage if you don’t reserve yours to collect instore.

The Hello Kitty soothing projector will help soothe your baby to sleep with its magical sounds and light effects. This doodad will relax your baby as he or she tries to settle down in their bed. You can choose either the five or 10 minute lullaby settings depending on how restless they are.

You can calm baby in the nursery or wherever you fancy and the device will also project lovely pictures onto the ceiling, hopefully making baby nice and sleepy. The Hello Kitty soothing projector has 16 melodies, two sung-songs (whatever they are) and soothing natural sound effects. You will need to feed it four (!) AA batteries though as these are not included in the price.

ELC Kid’s Umbrellas £3.60 @ ELC

The ELC sale is still going strong and they are offering some ace items at fabulously low prices. One such bunch of tasty discounted items is their range of umbrellas. These kids umbrellas are down from around £8.99 to only £3.60 including delivery. Nice.

To get your free delivery use the code FREEDEL and to get your discount use the code SANTA. Now you have shaved even more off their discounted price, taking you down to £3.60 including delivery.

There are quite a few different umbrellas in stock at ELC and these range from Everything’s Rosie to Winnie the Pooh to Chugginton and Charley Bear. The rest of the designs are already sold out but these particular designs are still in stock.

If you fancy nabbing one of these kids umbrellas as a Christmas gift, then I suggest you start now because the price is good and stocks are limited. These kids umbrellas are designed for, well, kids so they have shorter handles and space and are smothered in cute designs. Ace.

Tower Of Doom £32 @ ELC

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 4 December, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Tower Of Doom £32 @ ELC

The Tower of Doom at ELC tends to go on sale a lot according to the PlayPennies history, but usually around January time. So, if you fancy owning this awesome toy, then you don’t have to wait until January sales to do so, ELC have it on a half price offer already. Down to £40 from £80 there are some ace voucher codes you can use to drop the price down even further.

The Tower of Doom costs £40 without using codes, but if you use the voucher code FREEDEL then you get it delivered for free and SANTA for 20% off the price. The toy itself has pretty good reviews and doesn’t come with any of the figures included which means you will have to pay extra for the characters you need to populate the tower.

However, there is a lot of voucher code here so you could nab the characters for a discounted price and sort out an ace Christmas kit for under £60. The Tower of Doom is a tall, dark and scary castle that has two battle towers, a drawbridge, a dungeon, a bridge and plenty more!

Wooden Knight’s Fortress £14 @ Early Learning Centre

The Knight’s Fortress at ELC currently has 50% off, making it a not-too-shabby £17.50. Use the two discount codes below to reduce that by an additional 20% to £14, then throw in free delivery and you have a fantastic wooden play set at a great price.

Spend hours lost in imaginative play with the Knight’s Fortress

    • Promotion Code: EX20

  • Code: Free Delivery
  • Expires: Unknown
  • Promotion Code: FREEDEL

The Knights’ Fortress is a fantastic wooden fort with hideaway chambers under the towers, working drawbridge to keep out enemies, and a flag to fly when the battle is won. This classic castle is a timeless toy for your child to enjoy, and it will last for years as your child’s imaginative adventures grow richer.

There are knights and other figurines you could buy from ELC to go with this, but even with the codes applied they work out at about £2 a figure, which is quite rough. Fortunately, the Knights’ Fortress is also great for your child to combine with their other toys – such as army men, animals, people or dinosaurs – the sky’s the limit for your child’s imagination with this classic wooden castle.

Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer £63.99 @ ELC

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 3 December, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer £63.99 @ ELCThe Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer is pretty much at the top of every Christmas must-have list. It is a sort of iPad tablet style toy for children. The Early Learning Centre, ELC, has the pink LeapPad Explorer's in stock. All you need to do is use the code SANTA to get 20% off AND free delivery, so you can get the Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer toy delivered to your door for £63.99.

Personally, I thought that at £79.99, and even £63.99, this is an expensive toy. But, if you've got an iPad you may think it worth every penny to keep the kids off your much much more expensive computer!

It has been sold out several times over at many retailers, with some devices going for silly prices on eBay. Seriously, did anyone actually buy at that price?

The Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer is suitable for children aged 4 to 9. It has a camera and video recorder. You do get a few apps on the device, and a game. There's also more than 100 games and apps available online. Children can choose from games, videos, e-Books, flash cards and they can even take photos or record videos. The Leapfrog LeapPad Explorer is fully compatible with the existing Explorer games library.

ELC Felt Farm Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 9 November, 2011 at 5:00 pm

ELC Felt Farm Review

I have great memories of my sister and I playing with felt when we were children. We had a huge range of felt characters and my dad made spanned a stretch of felt over the back of a fingerboard board so that we had what was to us a vast expanse of space to create our scenes on.

I bought the ELC Felt Farm set for my daughter in the hopes of getting her creative story telling juices going too, and have mixed feelings about it.

The felt pieces make up a farm scene, and overall I’m pretty happy with them. The painted bits don’t stick very well, but it’s not like I was expecting Velcro so it’s fine.

Where it does fall down a bit is the story board. Actually, there are two story boards, but they are half the height of an A4 page, but a bit wider. They are made of something that feels like a mix between sand paper, and the loop end of Velcro, so you’d expect the felt to stick, and it does initially, but after a very short time it stops doing so.

The felt pieces are still nice to play with, but honestly I’m totally so-so about this set and don’t think it’ll give my daughter the same memories I have of felt. I have wondered if a larger story board, also made of felt (which could easily fit into the box) wouldn’t be better, but haven’t had a chance to try it.

Overall, I don’t think £5 is too expensive, but I’m glad I bought it at less than half price.

I'm not sure when the sale ends though, as half term does vary slightly around the country.

When it does work, you'll see Christmas 20% added to your order. I tried it out on a JCB Chunky Trucks set. This was in the sale, marked down from £35 to £17.50. A fantastic saving on something that would make a FABULOUS Christmas present. The ELC promotional code took this down to £14, deducting £3.50 from the price. Keep in mind that the delivery on this site is £4.95.

Playmobil Leisure Jet £19.99 @ ELC

Playmobil Leisure Jet £19.99 @ ELC

The Playmobil Leisure Jet is down from £59.99 to £23.99 on the ELC website and if you use the code below you’ll get another 20% off to take it down to the super low price of £19.99. You’ll still have to pay postage but this is a great discount overall.

The code that you need to take the extra 20% off is christmas0511 so pop that into the checkout when you are finished your shopping. Maybe nab some other items in their sale to take your total to £50 then you’ll get free delivery and a hefty discount to boot.

The Playmobil Leisure Jet comes with a captain and a VIp traveller and has space for passengers and luggage. The roof can be removed for easy access to the plane’s centre and the entire set is exclusive to ELC.

The set is apparently excellent for encouraging kids to use their imagination and to develop aspirational thoughts, although I am not sure that really counts as a developmental milestone.

Singalong CD Player £15 @ ELC

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 16 October, 2011 at 8:00 am

Singalong CD Player £15 @ ELC

There's 50% off the red or pink Singalong CD Player at ELC. They're selling it for £15, instead of £30. Delivery is £4.95 though, so pick up in store if you can.

The CD Player requires 6 x C batteries, but it also has a 9V DC input jack – it doesn't say that it comes with a power cable, but one of the reviewers mentions buying one for £6, saving a fortune in batteries. It also has a headphone socket, but doesn't come with headphones either.

The CD player can be used for audiobooks as well as CD's so it's pretty versatile, and has clear large control buttons, making it easy for children to use. There's a carry handle for portability and separate controls for the microphones and the CD music, so kids can adjust as they need to.

One reviewer stated that the product was faulty, twice, so it might be worth keeping the receipt in case yours is too, but another reviewer says they've had theirs for almost a year with no problems.

LeapFrog Tag And Tag Junior £12.49 @ ELC

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 11 October, 2011 at 6:00 pm

LeapFrog Tag And Tag Junior £12.49 @ ELC

Well, yesterday I found a bunch of LeapFrog goodies at low prices but this one really knocks their socks off. ELC has marked the LeapFrog Tag sets down to only £12.49 which is really low compared to other places even with the extra delivery charges.

Usually the LeapFrog Tag sets cost around £24.99, so with a discount like this, even with nearly £5 in delivery charges, you have saved some cash. It may be worth calling your local store to find out if they have any in stock and what they are selling them for if you fancy saving even more money.

The LeapFrog Tag sets, both Junior and standard, are ideal for teaching kids to read along with puzzles and memory games to help them build their skills. They are fun for both parents and kids to use together and are excellent for encouraging them to get stuck into their learning.
