Disney Art Desks £17.49 @ Sainsbury's (Half Price Toy Sale)

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 October, 2011 at 9:00 am

Disney Art Desks £17.49 @ Sainsbury's (Half Price Toy Sale)Remember last week I gave you a heads up on the Sainsbury's Half Price Toy Sale?  It starts TODAY - hurry up and get yourself over there, stock has a habit of flying off the shelves almost as soon as the virtual, and real, doors open!

There are 93 items marked down by half on the Sainsbury's website - there tends to be more in-store - and these Disney Art Desks caught my eye this morning; there's one for the girls in typical Disney Princess pink and a Disney Cars version for the boys.

All of my children are very arty, it must be genetic because I am and so is my mum - my youngest is currently visiting my mum in Italy and news, via virtual postcard, says they've been spending lots of time drawing and colouring.

Both desks come with attached seats, eight crayons, eight markers and five colouring sheets - not much in terms of arty bits and pieces but I'm sure you'll already have a fairly comprehensive stash of those tucked away somewhere, if not then perhaps have a scout around the Sainsbury's Half Price Toy Sale for some half price art sets.

Remember, the key to successful half price toy sale shopping is being the early bird - forget worms, this is all about TOYS!

Go forth and bag bargains!

Inflatable Moon Chairs (Peppa Pig George, Thomas and Disney Princess) £5 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 31 August, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Inflatable Moon Chairs (Peppa Pig George, Thomas and Disney Princess) £5 @ PlayPlay are selling these three inflatable moon chairs - Peppa Pig George, Thomas or Disney Princess - for £5 each.

Kids love their own furniture and, somehow, inflatable furniture like these moon chairs are much more fun than 'solid' ones.

Luckily most little girls love anything pink and Disney Princess (I think) so that one covers the girls.

Not all boys love Thomas the Tank Engine though - my cousin's son was a massive Bob the Builder fan and had no love, or time, for Thomas at all.  My eldest son, on the other hand, was the opposite - he couldn't stand Bob but adored Thomas.

So for the Thomas fans there's a Thomas the Tank engine inflatable chair and for those who aren't, there's a Peppa Pig George version.

Each chair has been reduced from £7.99 down to £5 and the Thomas the Tank Engine inflatable moon chair is available for pre-order, with a release date of 2 September.

Disney Princess Or Toy Story 200-Piece Art Case £9.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 16 May, 2011 at 11:00 am

Disney Princess Or Toy Story 200-Piece Art Case £9.99 @ Toys R UsOh my goodness, this is a great deal - Toys R Us are selling this Disney Princess or Toy Story 200 piece art case for half price.

I would have LOVED this as a child; I've always been very arty and, if you're that way inclined, you can never have too many pens, pencils, paints or sheets of plain paper!

I know I'm living in La-La-Land when I say that this will mean all your child's art things can be kept neat, tidy and in one place (well it will if YOU put everything away each time) but at least the potential is there for instilling tidiness in your kids.

The Disney Princess art case is, obviously, very pink and will delight all wannabe arty princesses - I'm just mesmerised looking at the picture with everything lined up in correct colour orders; I almost want one for myself.

Although I'm not a 'pink' person so I'd probably go for the Toy Story art case which is a much nicer shade of blue, but contains all the same 200 pens, pencils, crayons, paints, brushes and pastels as the Disney Princess version.

At £9.99 these art cases are a real bargain, you just couldn't buy everything seperately for the same price - let alone find a pencil case big enough to fit it all in!

You can arrange to collect this instore for free, or you can pay £4.95 for standard delivery to your home.

Happy getting arty!

Disney Balance Bike £15 @ Sports Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 April, 2011 at 11:00 am

Disney Balance Bike £15 @ Sports DirectSports Direct are selling these Disney balance bikes for half price - £15 each instead of £29.99

We've had numerous discussions about balance bikes in the PlayPennies office: are they just weird and have their pedals missing? Or are they fabulous and make learning to ride a bike much easier?

We've still not come to any conclusions but, for my money, I think they're a bit odd and I can't see HOW they make the transition to a bike with pedals quicker and easier - feel free to enlighten me.

Anyway, these two Disney balance bikes have adjustable seats so it doesn't matter if your little rider is shorter or taller for their age.

Unless you go to a bike shop, you'll find that most bikes are delivered in pieces and these Disney balance bikes are no exception - at the very least you're probably going to have to attach the wheels and possibly the handle bars.

Delivery within 24 hours will cost you £5.99, standard delivery takes a little longer and costs £3.99.

Disney Princess Royal Cleaning Set £6.40 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 26 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

Disney Princess Royal Cleaning Set £6.40 @ TescoTescos have reduced the price of this Disney Princess Royal Cleaning Set from £20 to £6.40, but this is the final reduction and only applies until all stock has gone.

I'm consoling myself that this cleaning set isn't an evil ploy to reinforce the gender stereotype that a girl's place is in the home cleaning it, and that it's purely based on Cinderella and similar fairytales...it's not working very well so I'll try not to spit venom as I write this post.

Mind you, that said, kids love to play 'house' - my youngest son LOVED pretending to cook dinner for the family in the Little Tikes playhouse that was in the pocket park close to home.

Then they become teenagers and ANYTHING housework becomes strictly off limits.

I'm not sure a Disney Priness Royal Cleaning Set featuring a broom, a bucket, dustpan and brush, feather duster, sponge and squirty bottle will encourage my teenage daughter to clean her room - only posting photos of  her pit of doom on Facebook, for all her friends to see, does that (she was NOT happy when I did that this week!).

However, if you have a neat and tidy little Princess in your household and can stomach seeing her getting to grips with housework at such a tender age, then go for it and buy her this Disney Princess Royal Cleaning Set.

Disney Princess, Cars And Toy Story 3 Magnetic Drawing Boards £7.50 @ The Toy Shop.com

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 24 December, 2010 at 9:00 am

Disney Princess, Cars And Toy Story 3 Magnetic Drawing Boards £7.50 @ The Toy Shop.comIt is that time of the year when if you've been lucky enough to kept some money aside you'll be able to properly stock up the presents drawer for the year to come! These Disney character magnetic drawing boards have been reduced by more than half, from £20 to £7.50, by The Toy Shop.com. There's also a Spongebob one but I ran out of room in the title!

The link above will take you to the Cars magnetic drawing board. Alternatively click on these links for the Disney Princess one, and the Toy Story 3 magnetic drawing board.

I absolutely love these, even as an adult! On the face of it, they're pretty limited in what you can do with them. And yet it is fascinating. Somehow even a scribble is strangely satisfying. You make your pictures, and then they all wipe clean. For a parent it is great that there's no batteries, ink or paper required!

This arts and crafts set (as the website calls it, personally I think it is just a toy) includes a large drawing board, 4 fun shaped stampers, a pen  and an eraser. A built in carry handle makes it easy to take the Magnetic Drawing kit with you wherever you go. It is recommended for ages from 4 upwards.

Massive Savings On Kid's Fragrances @ Superdrug

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 20 November, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Massive Savings On Kid's Fragrances @ SuperdrugFor little girls – and boys, if you insist – Superdrug has some fabulous discount prices on 'kiddie fragrances'.

I loved Tinkerbell products as a little girl. They had perfume, lip gloss, stick on earrings and nail art as well as easy to remove eye shadows and so on. I remember spending ages 'getting ready', to just wash it off and start again.

For little girls who feel the same, Superdrug have great gifts and stocking fillers, like the Disney Princess set for £2.99, a £3.00 saving, which contains a glittery tiara, beautiful mini comb, Getting Ready Rose Eau de Toilette and 2xpretty princess hair slides.

The Hannah Montana set contains a cute Hannah coin purse, a sweet girly fragrance and its complementing body spray as well as a pink lipgloss for £4.49, saving £4.50.

There are loads of other sets to choose from too, from Love Hearts fragrances (£4.50) to DKNY at only £14.99.

I'd hurry though – at these prices they're bound to sell out pretty quickly!

Disney Princess Shimmering Single Rotary Duvet Set £7.99 @ Play.com

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 11 September, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Disney Princess Shimmering Single Rotary Duvet Set £7.99 @ Play.comIt's pretty, it's pink, and it is Disney Princess. What more could a little girl want? Great for parents is that Play.com are selling the set for £7.99 with free delivery. On the website it says that the recommended retail price is £14.99.

If I'm honest, then I really hate getting themed bed linen for kids. It just feels so wrong that merchandising has worked its way into every part of our lives, even bedtime. That said, in my experience a familiar face or story on the bed linen really does help when the little ones are feeling a bit insecure going to bed at night.

This duvet set features two Princesses. Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. I think we all remember the story of Cinderella - wicked stepmother, ugly stepsisters, a fairy godmother and Prince Charming. As a stepmum myself it isn't one of my favourites (the one I loathe the most is Hansel and Gretel as the witch is always a very poorly disguised step mother!).

Disney Princess Shimmering Single Rotary Duvet Set £7.99 @ Play.comBut I was suprised to find that I'd actually forgotten Belle's story. It isn't as often repeated. Belle is a dutiful daughter of an eccentric Maurice who is pursued by the vain Gaston. She swaps places with her father in the Beast's prison. Eventually though she is allowed to visit her dad, in the meantime the darstadly Gaston tries to remove his rival. But Belle rushes back to the castle, saves Beast and breaks the spell. I think this is definitely my favourite Disney oldie!
