I do get a similar set of 12 acrylic paints from the 99p Store sometimes, however it can be hit and miss as to whether they have any. Also, the quality of the paints can be a bit dry, and insoluble even after water is added.

Easter is a great adventure and I’m not entirely sure I will ever grow out of it. I can remember stuffing my face with eggs, running about on a sugar high and being completely mean and not giving any chocolate to my brother. Easter has always been a family affair and we make a huge deal out of it every year. Last year I went and left a trail of cotton wool around the street and when we went for a walk, I told my daughter the Easter bunny was shedding because it was so warm…

So, as Easter rapidly approaches and the shops are bursting with eggy surprises, what are you going to do on the big day? Well, ASDA has some cute ideas that I’ve totally stolen from them and popped into this feature. They suggest a roast for Easter Sunday, and I am inclined to agree, especially if this icy weather continues. It may well be that everyone will need a toasty roast to warm up after hunting for eggs in the garden.

What is Mod Podge? That was my first question when a little pack of five small bottles arrived in my mailbox. This was the starter Mod Podge set. One each of the five types of Mod Podge in 59ml bottles.

The simple answer is that Mod Podge is glue, and a sealer, and a varnish, all in one. When I looked it up online I came across some criticism here in the UK, as essentially you can achieve the same result yourself with some watered down PVA glue, then apply a coat of acrylic varnish over the top.

I specify UK there because while Mod Podge is relatively new here it has been around in the US for 46 years. Since 1967. And it's logo and bottle designs are still 100% sixties! I love that.

Crafters use it for a wide range of applications. It is useful for collage work and scrap booking, but it seem the most popular use for Mod Podge is to tart up old containers, glass jars, plastic boxes, tins, and so forth. Like the kitchen containers shown above - they're from the website and were decorated using Mod Podge.

I’ve got yet another awesome photo product for you to try out – the My Cewe Photobook. This one initially did not win points. You need to download their software to create your photo book and it takes ages. Absolute ages and I had to sit and wait for it to finish for one reason and another and got pretty fed up pretty quickly.

However, I have a low tolerance for updates and uploads so this is very much a personal thing. Once the software had been installed it took a while to start/warm up. Once done, though, selecting the product I liked and uploading the photos I wanted, took a few minutes. It was very easy indeed.

I had set aside an entire folder on my desktop with images that I wanted to use in this photo book. I then selected the Cewe Photobook Assistant which then uploaded all the images to book and randomly mixed and matched images. For a dumb tool it worked quite well, although I found some images had been shoved into slots that were either too big or too small. Fortunately editing these, and changing them around, is extremely easy and you don’t need to spend time reading through a rigorous manual either.

I found adjusting images simple and quick – this includes size, location and template. I also thought the text tool was intuitive and well designed. You can really manipulate text to suit your photobook mood and style.

Then it crashed. Yep. Two hours of hard work suddenly froze up and crashed. Irked doesn’t even cover my mood. Did the Cewe Photobook software recover my hard work? Yes! Most of it. There were a few photos not amended and one text box missing, but that seemed very minor in the face of the work I had done.

The other niggle I had was that the software uploaded my images in a very random order as opposed to a chronological one. I am sure most people want their albums to work in order of appearance, so this was not great.

Overall, though, the Cewe Photobook software and process is simple, clever and very flexible. You have more options than you can have thought possible and the pricing is superb. The quality of the finished product is going to be reviewed separately once it arrives, so stay tuned.

As a photo service I think Cewe stand out for their in-depth software, but fall short on only a few minor points. I give it 7/10.

It’s nearly Mother’s Day and I’ve been looking for some sweet and cool gift ideas for mum lately. I tend to gravitate towards photo printing because, well, parents love pictures of their kids and they love pictures of their kids on funky items. Vistaprint have taken the whole “print onto anything” vibe another step further allowing you to create and customise your own iPhone cover.

You can make a cover for any iPhone from the 4 to the iPhone 5, and you can either upload your own photos or you can use some of their funky designs. While the latter are awesome, I strongly recommend using your own image because it is so much more entertaining and rewarding.

It took me ages to choose the picture and then, once I uploaded it easily and quickly, I found that you can use the controls to rotate it in different directions and to adjust the way it looks on the phone. My first image, the one I thought looked amazing, actually wasn’t that great. The second, the one I was indifferent to, looked awesome. I absolutely love how it turned out.

Setting the image up is quick and simple. You also have the option to add in text, go back to the original page and use the picture with their designs, and plenty more. The only negative I have here is that I accidentally hit the Back button, and if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have realised that the image could be used with the various designs. Other than that, I found the process very intuitive and had no problems at all.

The final product is on its way to me and I will update this review as soon as I see the finished item. I’ll report back immediately. What I can tell you now is that the iPhone covers are on special – reduced by £3, and that you can choose from a range of delivery options. So far the Vistaprint iPhone case gets 8/10 from me!
