Click here to use your Viners Promotional Code

  • Discount: £5
  • Minimum spend: £25
  • Promotional code: 5POUND
  • Expiry: 30th April 2013

To use this Viners voucher code enter it in the voucher code box on the Shopping basket page. It is applied automatically to your order. On the site, delivery is free if you spend over £25. Even though when I tested the code the discount took my actual total under £25, I still qualified for free delivery. Which was nice.

I tested the code on a 16 piece set of Saffron cutlery, which was in the deals section. It had an RRP of £79.99, and was on sale for £29.99. The code took that down to £24.99 including delivery.

Stainless Steel Steamer £4.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 16 June, 2012 at 2:00 pm

Stainless Steel Steamer £4.99 @ ArgosIf you dash over to Argos, you'll be able to pick up a stainless steel steamer, that fits over most regular saucepans, for just £4.99 - its normal price is double that.

So we (should) all know by now that it's much better to steam your veg than boil the living daylights out of it.  You didn't know that?  Well it is, it prevents all their goodness and nutrients being lost and means you don't end up with soggy grey mush on your plate (that's how we identified broccoli and sprouts when we had lunch at my nan's).

You can buy dedicated steamers but they can be a bit on the pricey side, and sometimes you only want to steam a few pieces and using an entire steamer for that is like using the proverbial sledgehammer to crack a nut.

This stainless steel steamer, then, seems like a good and very cost effective solution to me; simply sit it over the top of saucepan of boiling water.

It has two tiers, can be used to steam meat and fish too (steamers aren't just for veg!), has a glass lid and double stainless steel handles and is dishwasher safe too; reviews are great too, fabulous.

Cracking Cookware Deals @ Sainsburys

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 12 January, 2012 at 11:00 am

Cracking Cookware Deals @ SainsburysI'm always on the prowl for decent pots, pans, plates and glasses and Sainsbury's have some fabulous deals on all of those things, at the moment, with lots of things half price and up to 70% off.

Pots, pans, baking trays et al - 1) you can never have too many pans and 2) whilst it's great that my teenagers can cook their own dinner, and do, they do have a habit of 'killing' my pans.  As one is about to leave home and the other only a year behind, I'm quietly building my new 'untouched by teenage hand' pan collection to be unleashed when they're gone and this three-piece copper bottom pan set for £36 instead of £72 will fit in rather nicely.

There are enough dinner sets to have me umming and ahhhing between them and most of them have 70% taken off their full retail price - there's a Denby dinnerware set for £21 instead of £70.

If glasses are your thing - or you live with people who keep breaking them - then there are some lovely simple every-day glasses up for grabs at half price - these four are £3 instead of £6.

There are 137 items in the 'cookware' sale section - I'm trying not to be tempted by this rather lovely porcelain pie dish that's £3.50 instead of £7, although I must confess I'm not trying very hard!

You can click and collect your shiny new cookware bits and pieces from your local Sainsbury's for free, or have them delivered to your home for £3.95 (standard delivery).

Happy cookware shopping!

Denby Cast Iron Casserole Dishes 60% Off @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 February, 2011 at 9:00 am

Denby Cast Iron Casserole Dishes 60% Off @ AmazonAmazon have, for this week, reduced the price of Denby Cast Iron Casserole Dishes by 60%.

Click HERE for this cast iron deal

If you’ve never cooked with cast iron pans or casserole dishes then you don’t know what you’ve been missing. If you’ve ever bought cast iron pans or casserole dishes, then your bank balance will know how much money is missing!  It’s expensive!!

I'll admit it, I'm not a huge fan of messing around in the kitchen - my life's too short quite frankly, so give me one pot put-everything-in-a-casserole-dish-and-put-it-in-the-oven-for-three-hours cooking and I'm happy.

I have a few Denby cast iron cookware pieces; whilst they're heavy and you MUST remember that all parts of them get hot (you'll only forget once or twice, believe me) they are fabulous.

They can be used on the hob as well as in the overn and retain heat for a long time.  They're very robust and, if looked after properly, will last a very very long time not only that they look smart too.

Here's what someone else who has one had to say about it...

"...was pressed into service today and went straight from the hob to the oven without any problems. Can easily hold enough to feed four people and isn't too heavy to lift even when full. It also looks smart enough to go straight onto the table as well."

There are two different sized Denby Cast Iron Casserole Dishes available and both come with a Denby 10-year Guarantee.

There's a 27cms oval red one for £35 instead of £75, or a 21cms round black one for £24 instead of £60.

These two Denby Cast Iron Casserole Dishes are just two of Amazon's Deals of the Week, so these prices are cast iron for a little while at least; hurrah.
