Yesterday I reviewed some of the items in the latest Half Pint Chic sale but this lot have had such big discounts I thought I’d throw the best into a deal for you so you can see what’s out there to enjoy.

Egg by Susan Lazar is apparently a huge brand in the US of A. It is stocked in Saks 5th Avenue, Barneys and Neiman Marcus – all big names in the fashion world there. The range uses natural fabrics and clean, simple designs with no frills or gimmicks.

The clothes are lush – for both boys and girls – and the Half Pint Chic deal is fab. Hemp boys shorts are down from £30 to £14.50 and the really cute jersey rompers are down from £29 to £15. And the silk sun dresses are down from £46 to £22 – a saving of over half the original price.

There are clothes for all ages and genders there and while there isn’t a ton of variety, you can nab some great bargains nonetheless.

Each week my daughter reviews an item or two from the latest Half Pint Chic sale and each week the clothes seem to get better and better. This week the Half Pint Chic sale is for Egg Baby and wow, these clothes are loooovely.

The first item my daughter chose was the Voile Indian Shirt in pink. The picture on the site doesn’t do it justice. There is this soft, light pattern across the fabric that is beautifully complemented by the embroidery in a darker pink colour. The shirt is 100% cotton and drapes like a dream.

The wide sleeves make Tabitha look like a princess and she did plenty of swooping and dancing while wearing it. She said that it made her feel like she could dance like a fairy. And I have to admit, even though I am biased, that she did look a bit like one in this top. The quality of the fabric and the cut make it well worth the fabulously reduced £15.99 price tag.

The next item is the utterly stunning skirt which is made from silk and has an orchid pattern on the fabric. The underlay is pink and the tassels in a lovely purple with a sweet little bow detail at the waist. This comes in two colours and Tabitha spent ages trying to decide which one she wanted. I was surprised when she went for the bolder colour but, as you can see in the pic, it really worked.

The skirt is a charmer and one that I would buy two of in a heartbeat. Just look at how the elasticised waistline fits so snugly – this is especially great for little girls who have tiny waists like mine – and the extra bow adds more security too. And the lining of the skirt is actually a pair of pink shorts! Awesome.

I have to admit that, thanks to Half Pint Chic, I am starting to see why people go designer for their kids. I still wouldn’t pay the full prices (thank goodness for this site, then) but the quality, the cut, the way they look when worn, all these factors together have me smitten.

Half Pint Chic has teamed up with my daughter to see if she can offer an “on the ground” review (as it were) of the designer clothing sales that they run every week. Each week she selects two items from the sale, wears them for a day, and tells me what she thinks.

This week the sale is Nicki Macfarlane and wow, we were both really taken with the items on offer. Right from the top of the page to the bottom, Tabitha was pointing at items and going, “I want that! I want that!” And I had to agree with her. The colours, styles and cuts were stunning.

We eventually settled on a pair of Hyacinth shorts in lime down to £12.99 from £34, and the lovely Bluebell dress in pink floral down to £19.99 from £56. The clothes are lovely. Even my husband, he who honestly wouldn’t notice if my dress was made from a sack, was impressed and that is saying a LOT.

The Bluebell dress was instantly put on and did not come off until the end of the weekend. We barely managed to persuade her not to sleep in it. There was a debate about which way around the dress should go, though, as I had left the husband to do it while I made coffee, and came back to her wearing it the wrong way around.

After much debate and my pointing energetically at the picture on the website, he agreed that the ruffle went in front and the buttons at the back. My daughter thought this hilarious but honestly, she adores the dress. She finds it so comfy and says it makes her feel beautiful. It is worth every penny just for that! My daughter is extremely fussy about what she wears.

The shorts were worn under the dress for the weekend. I had to really bribe Tabitha to wear a shirt with them so I could take a photo. She really liked these and said that they were very comfy and she loved the pockets. Our only criticism is that the fabric used as a belt is very slippery so if your child, like mine, has a tiny waist and needs a lot of cinching, you have to keep on retying it. A bit of a pain, especially when those shorts are stunning.

You will find they have quite an impressive range of items on sale at Ellos from the latest spring and summer trends to kid’s items and even a mega sale to pick from. A few weeks ago Half Pint Chic asked me if my daughter would like to be their mini spokesperson via PlayPennies. The idea was that she would take a look at the latest items in the Half Pint Chic sale, select two, wear them, and then give her honest opinion of them. This was our very first week!

My daughter chose a lovely top called the Minnie Vest Top in purple and a pair of trousers in an understated camel colour. The top originally sold for £39 but is now on sale for £14, and the trousers were £48.50 but are now £19. My daughter was understandably ecstatic about the whole plan and constantly nagged me, “When are they arriving, Mommy, WHEN??”

The package finally appeared and it made us both go, “Ooooh” as it is really beautifully presented with a sturdy box that opens relatively easily to reveal each garment wrapped in tissue paper and sealed with the Half Pint Chic sticker. How decadent!

It took about five seconds for my daughter to whip off her clothes and start getting dressed in the Caramel Baby & Child items. From a parent’s perspective I can tell you that I have battled to find a pair of trousers that fit my daughter’s very thin and lanky frame. These somehow DID without a belt or any adjustment. Wow.
