Disney Toy Story Pop Up Tidy Bin And Storage Bag £5 @ Tesco Direct

Oooh, all the lovely Christmas deals are pouring in now and this particular deal is no different. Tesco Direct has marked this ace Disney Toy Story pop up tidy, bin and storage bag set down to a lovely £5 and you can get free delivery to your local store to collect yourself.

This Disney pop up tidy, bin and storage bag are made from polyester with a fun Toy Story design printed across the sides and top. The pop up tidy is foldable for easy storage but when you open it out it offers a large storage capacity that can hold all those wild plush toys roaming around after Christmas.

The Toy Story pop-up storage set is lightweight and features helpful carry handles and the drawstring bag is brilliant for the gym (not sure kids go to gym but this was in the product description and it amused me), the pool or even school. An ace Christmas gift or stocking filler too…

Mega Bloks £10 @ Tesco

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 11 December, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Mega Bloks £10 @ Tesco

Tesco has marked these tubs of Mega Bloks down from £30 to only £10 both instore and online. In fact, I nabbed some of these the other day as Christmas gifts for my nieces, nephews and offspring as they were so darn cheap. You can get them in either pink or blue boxes.

The Mega Bloks boxes are pretty full actually. When we opened ours the other day (to check and see all intact obviously) we realised that there were more than enough for our daughter to be getting on with. What we did wonder about was how these guys have gotten away with it – I mean, they are not Lego but the product is the same?

Anyway, you can get these both instore and online and you can arrange to reserve and collect them from your local branch if you want to save on delivery charges. Overall, I have to say that this is an excellent deal for an enormous tub of Mega Bloks that you won’t get cheaper anywhere else right now.

Mens 100% Lambswool Sweaters £7.90 @ Uniqlo

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 11 December, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Mens 100% Lambswool Sweaters £7.90 @ Uniqlo

Wow, this is a fabulous deal and it will still arrive in time for Christmas. In fact, this will make an ace Christmas gift for the chilly man in your life. Uniqlo is having a sale on knitwear and you get a nice little voucher code to go with it all too.

This particular lambswool sweater is on sale for £12.90 but with the voucher code UNI5 you shake £5 off the price (UPDATE - code has expired now!). There isn’t a lot of stock available really, the lambswool v-neck sweater is only available in khaki in the larger sizes, with the other colours available in the smaller sizes.

You will also find a lambswool cardigan for £14.90, an extra fine merino v-neck for £14.90, and a merino cardigan for £24.90. These prices seem pretty reasonable really and I know that my husband will be rather pleased with his, he’s been moaning about how he doesn’t have any sweaters this winter…

Hello Kitty Roller Disco £15 @ John Lewis

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 11 December, 2011 at 11:00 am

Hello Kitty Roller Disco £15 @ John LewisThere's lots of toys on sale at the moment, and rest assured they'll all be full price in the week before Christmas. Or most of them anyway. This is a very pink toy, but if you've got a Hello Kitty fan in the house you'll be used to that. John Lewis has reduced the price of the Hello Kitty Roller Disco from £29.95 to £15.

With this playset, your little one can treat their Hello Kitty dolls to an amazing roller disco where they can dance the night away. The set comes with 4 Hello Kitty figurines, sweet machine and shop, skate hire shop, as well as tables and chairs where they can enjoy a milkshake.

If the dolls fancy going for a dance in their magnetic skates, the dance floor flashes and lights up, while the disco ball revolves to set a proper party scene.

This is also a handy toy for taking about with you, useful if you're doing any visiting or travelling over the Christmas break. The disco folds up into a handy carry case so you can take Hello Kitty with you wherever you go.

Clinton Cards Celebrity Video Greeting Review

Clinton Cards Celebrity Video Greeting Review

Have you ever wanted David Hasselhof to sing happy birthday to you? No? How about Teezy, The Saturdays, Alesha Dixon, Jay Sean, Ne-Yo, or Jerry Springer? Yeah. Now me, personally, I loved it when the David Hasselhof meme went about and ended up plastering no less than three office walls with the various jokes and funnies.

So, when I got the Clinton Cards Celebrity Video card to review I immediately chose David Hasselhof. I was going to send him as a birthday greeting but I found out that he does everything from ask people on a date to telling them to back off! Genius, pure genius.

I saw the David Hasselhof Christmas card and I immediately pressed Play to watch the preview. I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. This is cheesy brilliance at its best. I immediately decided that this card was going to my brother who lives in South Africa and with whom I share a humorous love of The Hoff (and Knight Rider).

Getting started is easy, just follow the prompts and you’ll soon have your card personalised and ready to go. Sadly South Africa was not included on the list so I had to rethink the Hasselhof Celebrity Video Card and decided to send him to a really close friend instead. I just knew she would cackle like mad at The Hoff wishing her a Hofftastic Christmas.

The process of ordering, making and getting the Celebrity Video Cards from Clinton Cards is easy. Simple, fun and easy. There isn’t a huge range of slebs to choose from yet but you only really need The Hoff, right? All the cards cost £3.99 each and the range is impressive. I absolutely love this idea and will probably get this for a close friend. Expensive, yes, but fun, definitely.

First Songs Library Sing-along Books £3.99 @ Play.com

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 10 December, 2011 at 3:00 pm

First Songs Library Sing-along Books £3.99 @ Play.comThis would make a nice Christmas present or stocking filler for a little one. I always liked singing with my son when he was a toddler (and too little to realise how out of tune mummy was). I never knew that many songs though. The First Songs Library Sing-along Books are £3.99 including delivery at Play.com. The normal RRP is £12.99.

The First Songs Library Sing-along Books are a collection of three illustrated books. These contain 50 of our favourite nursery rhymes, lullabies and sing-along songs. Well favourite according to the makers of these books, so I guess that means the most well known. I know so little of these songs, I was a bit surprised there were fifty of them!

The website says that children will love to sing along to the musical versions on the specially-recorded audio CD. In my experience that's usually true. Especially older babies and toddlers. Not all of them like those little playgroups where you do sing songs though. My son didn't, and the lad I used to babysit wasn't fond of them either. Something like this to sing at home is ideal then.

The Bonusprint Christmas Products Review

The Bonusprint Christmas Products Review

This is an unusual review as I am letting you know all about the Bonusprint Christmas products before they have arrived. This is because the final posting dates are rapidly approaching and I didn’t want you to lose out on these ace ideas for Christmas.

And the ideas are really good, actually. The first of these that I reviewed was the Bonusprint Christmas cards. These are extremely easy to create and don’t cost a ridiculous amount of money either. I had 20 cards made on the A5 size and it came to £20 including postage and packaging.

This may sound costly but I didn’t cut any corners here and I now have enough cards to last me for two years. Setting up the card is easy. Just select the Christmas Cards link and you will be taken through to the various border styles available. I chose Snow Flake 3, a very light theme that complemented my photograph (the one at the top of this review). Again, choosing the size of the card and the border is dead easy.

Build A Bear Erik Happy Feet £11.75 @ Build A Bear Workshop

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 9 December, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Build A Bear Erik Happy Feet £11.75 @ Build A Bear Workshop

Now this is a lovely deal just in time for Christmas! For the lovely price of £11.75, you will get a 46cm Erik Build-a-Bear fluffy toy including the cost of delivery. You will need some voucher codes (these are below) in order to get this low price and I would move quickly as this is likely to go fast!

The voucher code you need to get the Erik plush toy from Happy Feet is 496820 which takes £4 off when you spend over £9 at Build-a-Bear Workshop. So, after postage which is £3.25 (wow, that IS expensive!) the total comes to £11.75.

Erik usually costs £12.50 and this adorable critter from Happy Feet is more than just a cutie – his bowtie also lights up! Now that is festive and cute. You can personalise him with Happy Feet signature phrases or other typical sounds but then your price will go up.

Stomp Rocket Kit £5.99 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 9 December, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Stomp Rocket Kit £5.99 @ Amazon

This is a really good price for the Stomp Rocket kit on Amazon. It usually costs £11.99 but is now down to half price at £5.99 including free delivery. This would make an ace Christmas gift or stocking filler and will keep those little hands occupied while you snooze off your dinner.

The Stomp Rocket kit is serious fun for everyone aged six and up. The Stomp Rocket kit includes a rocket launcher, six re-usable high performance rockets and a jump-on stomp pad. All you have to do is take a step back and stomp on the pad with all the force you can muster.

Then the rocket will shoot a staggering 400ft into the air and make you all go, “Ooooh.” However, this is clearly not an indoor game and should probably be done in a park so you can find the projectiles again afterwards.

You don’t need batteries or fuel and the pack is very portable so you can take it anywhere.

Aldi Christmas Gifts Review

Aldi Christmas Gifts Review

Apart from food, Aldi often offer seasonal specials, and at the moment, they have some great (and some not so great) Christmas activities and entertainment kits for children available.  We’ve been reviewing four items from Aldi’s Christmas range for the last few weeks.

First out the box was the Marvin’s Magic ‘Fifty Pranks To Freak Your Friends’ kit.

It looks like fun, and at the top of the neatly packed box is a sponge thing – I later found out was meant to be a rock – and a book with fifty tricks you can pull.

Apptastic Christmas Gift 69p @ Record Their Stories

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 8 December, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Apptastic Christmas Gift 69p @ Record Their Stories

Usually I’m not a fan of elitist apps. I have the Android and the iPad tablets and like it when an app can work on both systems. However, this is such a cute and cheap idea for a Christmas gift that it is worth mentioning in this post.

Record Their Stories is an app that lets you record stories (hur hur) about your life and times to share with friends and family over Christmas. These tales, be they unexpected and funny, anecdotes shared by grandparents, fun memories from friends, these can all be recorded for eternity.

The app has a built-in edit suite and more than 100 scrollable questions to help keep the conversation flowing. You and your kids can create special recordings for someone special this Christmas, or you can record your own Christmas dinner this year! Then you can listen to it whenever you want, or whip it out next year for everyone to enjoy.

There is even an option to turn the recordings into a special Christmas gift by uploading it to the site and then their team will whip it into a professional recording complete with music and sound effects. Those are a lot more expensive though…

Bobble Meerkat Review

by Tamsin Oxford in Reviews on 8 December, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Bobble Meerkat Review

So, what DO you buy for people who have everything? Lately I find that the people I buy Christmas gifts for are the ones who either want extremely expensive gadgets or have everything remotely useful already. This is when I tend to go for odd and strange and mad gifts instead.

Like this hilarious Bobble Meerkat. What you see in the picture above is a meerkat that is modelled on the whole Compare the Market meerkats and looks adorable. I think my taste in stupid gifts is a bit crazy if I am honest so if you share my madness, then this will really appeal to you.

The Bobble Meerkat has a soft fuzz head, big eyes and a sturdy, little, fuzzy body. His head is supported by the usual coil and spring device seen on most bobbleheads and he is rather robust. How do I know this? My five year old grabbed him out of the box while I was distracted and proceeded to get the coil tangled in her sleeve, hair and edge of the meerkat body. How she managed this in under five seconds I will never know…

Anyway, I was positive that the Bobble Meerkat was broken and ruined but after untangling him and popping the neck back into position, he was completely unaffected. Unless you count his somewhat startled expression?

He sits on the dashboard of the car (much to my husband’s dismay) and I have ordered one for a mad uncle as I know he will love it. My Bobble Meerkat is cute, funny and very solid. The sticky pad on the base is strong and my dude hasn’t fallen off the edge or needed resticking yet.

He only costs £4.99 from Robert Dyas and if you love him, you can throw in the Meerkat Keyring which talks to you…

Bernard The Bee Trunki £22 @ Savvymummys.co.uk

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 8 December, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Bernard The Bee Trunki £22 @ Savvymummys.co.uk

Savvymummys.co.uk is going to be selling Bernard the Bee Trunki for £22 as of Friday 09 December. The sale will only last for three days and it will only be valid for as long as stocks last, so if you fancy getting yourself this helpful travel Trunki, you need to amble onto their site tomorrow.

Ok, so I guess you all know what a Trunki is and that it comes in a variety of different flavours. You can get the Gruffalo, a cow, a beetle and plenty more. This particular deal is all about Bernard the Bee. He is dead cute, very yellow and utterly enchanting.

However, I am not that pleased with their claim that he is down by 22%. I have seen Bernard the Bee selling for at least £27 so £22 is not 22% off that at all. Still, it is a lot cheaper than anywhere else at the moment and would make a fab Christmas gift for you. Yes, you. You will love pulling the screaming child instead of trying to carry them and 1000 other pieces of luggage.

Another Merry Christmas deal from us!

How To Ice A Christmas Cake

by Tamsin Oxford in Features on 8 December, 2011 at 1:00 pm

How To Ice A Christmas Cake

As you know, I dove into the murky waters of Christmas cake making a month back and have been feeding no less than six Christmas cakes ever since. Yes, six. Everybody wanted one. I did try to explain that I had never made them before and that they were high risk but nobody seemed to mind.

So, after patiently feeding my cakes for four weeks it was time to wrap them in marzipan and icing and make them look fabulous. However, this task really worried me because I am not very good at that sort of thing and often the instructions on websites don’t really tell you everything you need to know. And they didn’t…

First off, nab some readymade icing from your nearest retail store. You can make your own, of course, but I honestly don’t have the time or inclination for such a sticky endeavour. For those of you that really, really want to make your own icing this is a great recipe right here.

You’ll also need some marzipan, a rolling pin, apricot jam, baking paper, icing sugar, a knife, a pastry brush, and some coloured icing or decorations. And some brandy.

Body Shop Promotional Code: 50% Off Winter Essentials

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 7 December, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Body Shop Promotional Code: 50% Off Winter EssentialsUse this The Body Shop promotional code to get 50% off pots of pots of body butter. I remember seeing this code pop up around this time last year, or something like it. And I bagged about four tubs at a bargain price. With a lovely box, some tissue paper, and a few other items they made some really lovely and thoughtful presents for my friends.

Click here to get your The Body Shop Winter Essentials for half price

  • Discount: 50%
  • Applies to: Winter Essentials
  • Promotional code: WINTER
  • Expires: 12th December 2011

To use this code, go to the Shopping Basket page and enter it in the Promotional Code box. It will be applied to your order automatically. I tested it out on the Almond Nail & Cuticle Oil, which cost £7. The code took this down to £3.50. Delivery is £3.99 on the site.

There are a large number of gorgeous sounding items in the Winter Essentials section. Something I've done for the last couple of years is to make up little gift baskets for some members of the family. I keep some of the packaging that comes through during the year - for example one item I bought around Mother's Day time came snuggled in pink shredded paper. Then I buy a few items when sales like this come up, and you can then put together a nice gift set much cheaper than you'd get in the shops (try covering little boxes in tissue paper and then wrap the whole lot up with cellophane).

Zhu Zhu Pets Ice Cream Parlour £3.99 @ Home Bargains

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 7 December, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Zhu Zhu Pets Ice Cream Parlour £3.99 @ Home Bargains

Ok, so, I have moaned about the cost of any Zhu Zhu accessories for ages, especially since I bought one and found it to be utterly awful plastic tat that was badly made and easily broken. I have ignored the Zhu Zhu habitats since then. However, this bargain from Home Bargains (he he) is really, really good and makes getting the habitat worth the risk.

The Zhu Zhu pets ice cream parllud is down from £19.99 to only £3.99 – that is a whopping saving of £16 off the original price. I am very impressed with this and have, obviously, snapped the deal up. What you get is an ice cream parlour for your Zhu Zhu hamster, ice cream accessories and the ability to link up with other Zhu Zhu accessories.

If you already have the ice cream parlour, Home Bargains also has the Zhu Zhu Babies tree swing and power pod on sale. This is down from £15.99 to £3.99, not as mahoosive a saving, and I think that an adult hamster powers it or something. There are also several Zhu Zhu hamsters on sale for £2.99 as well.

Playmobil Christmas Market Review

by Tamsin Oxford in Reviews on 7 December, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Playmobil Christmas Market Review

I was recently sent the Playmobil Christmas Market 4891 to review. I was both excited and sceptical. You see, I don’t “get” Playmobil. Not as efficiently and excitedly as Lynley does - check out her fab Playmobil Advent Calendar review here. However, I ended up coming to the same conclusion as she did – buy this.

It costs around £18, the price varies from store to store with Amazon discounting it to £18.97 and others to as low as £17.52, all including delivery charges. So no, this is not a cheap toy. In fact, it is a high quality, main Christmas present kind of toy.

I reviewed this with three children, all girls who were 5, 6 and 8 years old. The level of excitement, the utter delight, this is hard to fake with kids and you just know when a Christmas gift is good or when you have spent money on something you thought was fab, but they will never, ever play with.

This Playmobil Christmas Market (number 4891) is the former. The kids were enthralled. They loved the little dudes with their flutes, playing Christmas music. They adored creating the Christmas tree and decorating it with the included bits and bobs. They fought over who got which character – the chickadee in the jodhpurs with the red scarf was the most popular – and they had such fun manning their Christmas Market stalls and selling their food and toys.

Each one of the two included stalls inside the Playmobil Christmas Market has its own theme and décor. There are cute little toys and food trays included and even a dove or two to place on the roof to coo happily at the shoppers.

While the price may be high, the entertainment value matches. My daughter has become a Playmobil convert and that makes this worth every penny.

The Official Mr Bean Teddy Bear £2.49 @ Focal Price

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 7 December, 2011 at 4:00 pm

The Official Mr Bean Teddy Bear £2.49 @ Focal Price

How utterly adorable is this? You can get the official Mr Bean teddy bear for only £2.49, including delivery charges, from Focal Price right now. This is so cute and would go really well with the Mr Bean box set deal we found the other day as one big Christmas gift.

Now, the Mr Bean teddy bear is only nine inches but he is really well priced and looks utterly snuggly. It is also worth mentioning that sometimes my orders from Focal Price are quick and brilliant, but at other times they have taken yonks to arrive. I wouldn’t necessarily bank on this appearing in time for Christmas.

You can pay for the Mr Bean teddy bear by PayPal and is has had great reviews on the site. He is stuffed and plush and cute and really looks exactly like the bear does on TV. I think I might be getting one for myself…

We’re Going On A Bear Hunt Book & DVD £3.68 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 7 December, 2011 at 3:00 pm

We’re Going On A Bear Hunt Book & DVD £3.68 @ Amazon

This classic story is on sale at Amazon for a very cheap and tasty £3.68. This We’re Going on a Bear Hunt set includes both the book and the DVD and usually costs around £7.99 in total. This deal saves you £4.31 (over half price) and comes with free delivery.

Children will love joining in with the animated version of this adventurous tale from the acclaimed King Rollo films. The book, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, has been faithfully reproduced into a stunning animated movie that is accompanied by specially composed music.

The DVD of Going on a Bear Hunt is narrated by Emilia Fox and Kevin Whately and it follows all the action in the picture book of the same name. The DVD is PAL and the book is, well, made from paper (haha, sorry).

A classic and a stunning Christmas gift or stocking filler, this is a lovely deal indeed.
