I'm not terribly keen on buying shoes online as my feet are an awkward shape.  But for things like sandals and the like, I do. Also brands that I'm really familiar with or have had the chance to try on. The same with my son. I know that for other people this isn't so much of a problem, so this could be a great saving to make.

And there's fitting advice on the site as well. I may sit down with my son and go through the footwear to see if there's any he likes, as he isn't a fan of shoe shops and shoe shopping at the best of times.

I don't normally like to buy children's shoes online, but there is a nice range of sandals on there. And there's fitting advice on the site as well. I may sit down with my son and go through them to see if there's any he likes, as he isn't a fan of shoe shops and shoe shopping at the best of times.

Girls And Boys Wellies £4 @ ASDA

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 22 March, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Girls And Boys Wellies £4 @ ASDAThere’s a range of girls and boys wellington boots on offer at ASDA right now. They’re all reduced from £7 to £4 and are a great addition to a UK summer wardrobe. There’s a nice variety of colours and characters too. You’ll find:

There’s not a huge amount I can say about these – apart from the fact that they’ll make a lovely addition to summer time, not hurt by the fab price!  My daughter loves her wellington boots, and I have to say I love them too, because she can put them on and take them off by herself! Fabulous.

You can drop by your local store and see what they have on offer, or you can order these online and have them delivered to said store free of charge.

Bobux Shoes Sale @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 18 September, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Bobux Shoes Sale @ Mothercare

There’s a range of Bobux shoes on offer at Mothercare. They’re normally around £18 but are now £12.50.

Okay, I’ve never tried the Bobux brand of shoes, but they do look rather similar in style to others we used and loved – although these are cheaper, even before the sale price.

The shoes are soft, natural leather and they have an elasticated ankle which provides a secure fit to ensure the shoes stay on – and amazingly, that really works! By some miracle, we never lost a pair of elasticated shoes, which is a bonus.

These aren’t really walker shoes, but they have suede slip-resistant soles, so should be good if your little one starts trying to walk.

There are some superbly cute shoes in the sale too – stars, flowers, hearts, cats, ladybirds, lions and frogs. They really are cute.

Vivobarefoot Kids Shoes Review

Vivobarefoot Kids Shoes Review

I am not much of a shoe person. In fact, it’s only moments after the last snow melts that my flip flops come out and I wear them in defiance of winter and anticipation of summer.  My daughter loves shoes however and ‘shoes’ was her sixth word ever. Personally I don’t want her wearing shoes (especially cheap shoes) all the time as I think developing feet should be barefoot.

Sadly, barefoot isn’t always practical, which is why the Vivobarefoot range of shoes really grabbed my attention.  I can’t review them from the point of view of wearing them, but I can tell you about my experience of them from a mum’s point of view.

While my little girl loves shoes, she never keeps them on for long, and between getting dressed and leaving the house, I normally have to search for her shoes again. That was the first thing I noticed with these – they stayed on for a solid six hours the first day, without socks, and she didn’t try to take them off once. That, to me, makes them an immediate winner.  Even my husband, who kind of grunts in recognition when I show him any new shoes, commented on how nice they were.

We chose a pair of pale pink Pally shoes, the black version of which could easily be used as school shoes. They have an adjustable Velcro strap for quick access and fast tying and untying and so far, have remained ‘sticky.’

The Vivobarefoot range for children was designed in conjunction with podiatrists to “honour what foot specialists have long known… that children walk best barefoot.”

The shoes are made with an ultrathin puncture resistant sole, which, they say, offers all the health benefits of barefoot walking, while still being protected from the elements and sidewalk waste.  If you’re interested in the science, you can find out more about Vivobarefoot technology on their website.

Vivobarefoot kids shoes can be bought online or at selected retailers.

Lego Kickers Kids Shoes

by Sarah Macdonald in Misc on 20 February, 2011 at 10:00 am

Lego Kickers Kids ShoesIf you're a regular PlayPennies reader then you'll know that we are rather big fans of Lego.

Some of us (Tamsin) also have a weakness for shoes, so you can imagine the delight if us all when these Lego Kickers kids shoes came to our attention.

You've got the iconicism of Lego combined with the cool of Kickers - seriously, what more could you ask for?

A cheaper price tag perhaps, but look on the bright side most of these Lego Kickers shoes are cheaper than most Lego sets.  That said, lots of them are on sale for close to half-price.

If they had grown-up ones I'd be sorely tempted myself, I think they're just a bit KEWL.

Girls Shoes Sale Up To 70% Off @ Clarks

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 23 December, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Girls Shoes Sale Up To 70% Off @ Clarks

Just in time for the new year, Clark's have up to 70% sale off on girl's shoes – or if you are confident enough to brave town on Christmas eve, you could still bag a bargain for Christmas too.

I've said before that I didn't really know much about children until I had one. It has come as a great shock to me how quickly baby feet grow! Shoes that were bought for my daughter's birthday in October are now only good for her dolls and shoes I intended on packing away for next year, and never quite got round to, are now the flavour of the month!

I am alarmed to find this trend continues – did I mention I didn't know much about children until I had one? So those parents of girls who are continuously growing, growing, growing, will be relieved to see this sale at Clarks.

Annoyingly, you have to go IN to Clarks to buy these, which isn't great if you were hoping to just buy the next size up, but this is apparently because of their rather generous returns policy. You can still select, reserve and pay online though, so at least it's not a wasted trip for out of stock merchandise.

The shoes pictured above are Molly Star, which has 50% off and is now £8.00, Fst Fun Roam 70% off at £7.00 and the Aubergine Leather DaisySteps which are now £32.00 and come with a free Daisy Explores doll and animal friend hidden in the heels.
