Toy Story Zipperobe £19.99 @ Big Red Warehouse

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 March, 2012 at 9:00 am

Toy Story Zipperobe £19.99 @ Big Red WarehouseThe folks over at Big Red Warehouse are 'giving away' these Toy Story Zipperobe wardrobes for £19.99, rather than their full price of £49.99.

If you've got a young Toy Story fan in your family, and you're in need of some extra clothing storage for them, then you might just want to take a look at this Toy Story zipperobe - I think it's a daft name for a kid's wardrobre that has a material cover and zips up the front, but that's just my opinion.

I don't know about you but when my kids were younger, their clothes seemed to multiply faster than anything known to man! I'm not quite sure how this happened, but I always seemed to be running out of storage space for all their outfits.

This Toy Story Zipperobe has a full front zip opening, the material is wipe clean (very good idea) and comes flat packed - the good new is you don't need any tools (apparently) to put it together.  It measures 160H x 90W x 50Dcm and is suitable for young Space Rangers or cowboys aged three years and over.

Happy zipperobing!

Thomas and Friends Hanging Storage £7.99 @ Mail Order Express

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 February, 2012 at 9:00 am

Thomas and Friends Hanging Storage £7.99 @ Mail Order ExpressMail Order Express are selling Thomas and Friends hanging storage for £7.99, rather than the full £19.99 rrp.

You can never, EVER have too much storage, especially when you have small children.  Quite how they accumulate so much 'stuff' is beyond me, but accumulate it they do and have to keep it under control you will - ooooh I went a bit parenting Yoda on you then!

There are all sorts of storage solutions out there and hanging ones are rather useful if you've got limited storage space.  I've been trying to find out whether this Tomas and Friends hanging storage solution hangs from the rail inside a wardrobe, or whether it hangs on the wall or from hooks in the ceiling - I'm none the wiser as Google wasn't very helpful, but the most logical (and commonly used) method is to hang it in a warddrobe.

HOWEVER it works, if it means you can encourage your children, and perhaps even get them to, put their toys away at the end of each day then it can only be a good thing.

You'll check out through Amazon and when you've logged in to your account you'll see that £1.99 is added for shipping.  There's also a promotion box - enter SALE 2012 into that and 10% will be taken off, bringing your complete total to £9.18.

Ben 10 Single Duvet And Fleece Set £9.50 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 1 February, 2012 at 11:00 am

Ben 10 Single Duvet And Fleece Set £9.50 @ TescoTesco have reduced the price of this Ben 10 single duvet and fleece blanket set by 50 pence shy of £10, bringing it down to £9.50 from £19.

I was going to comment on stating the obvious by saying that this Ben 10 duvet and fleece blanket set was single bed size, but with an ever-increasing army of adult fans I wouldn't be surprised to see double and king-size versions.

I'm going to buy this for my eldest son, he's 17  and is leaving home in March to take up his post in the British Army (proud mummy moment, indulge me).  He's got a year at Army Foundation College first and when we went on a tour of the barracks back in September we were all rather amused to see that all the boys (who'd completed the first six weeks of training) had kiddie duvet covers - the more childish the better!

I kid you not!  There was one young soldier who had a Dora the Explorer duvet set on his bed - I'm not sure Jack would thank me for one of those, but Ben 10 I think he'll be able to 'do'.

So, the Ben 10 duvet and fleece blanket set comes with a duvet cover, pillowcase and a fleece blanket  all of which are machine washable and can be thrown in the tumble drier too.

The set is suitable for any little one who's in a single 'grown-up' bed or young soldiers about to embark on their Army career *grin*

Dinosaur Rug £3.49 @ Sainsburys

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 January, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Dinosaur Rug £3.49 @ SainsburysThis rather cute Tu Dinosaur rug is now half price - it was £6.99 and is now £3.49 over at Sainsbury's

Measuring 80cm x 50cm this Tu dinosaur rug will put the finishing touches to any young dinosaur fan's bedroom or play room - rarely do you see such a cute T-Rex!

It's made from acrylic and is machine washable - very good news as, in my experience, rugs in kids' rooms take plenty of abuse in the form of dirty shoes, spilled drinks and all sorts, to be able to throw this dinosaur rug in the washing machine (at 30C) is GREAT.

The one person who's taken the time to write a little review has nothing but praise for it...

"I bought this for my grand daughter and was a bit nervous about what it would be like as it was so cheap. It arrived very quickly and when I opened it I was so pleased as it doesn't seem cheap. it's not what you would call plush, but it's a good size and considering the price the quality is great. She loved it (although she did want to know where his mummy was!)"

OH how cute is THAT - wanting to know where the dinosaur's mummy was!  Too sweet.

Standard home delivery is going to cost you £3.95 unless you spend over £50, in which case delivery becomes freeee.

Children's Furniture 30% Off @ Mothercare

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 8 January, 2012 at 8:00 am

Children's Furniture 30% Off @ Mothercare

The Mothercare sale continues and there’s currently 30% off furniture for children’s rooms. Delivery is free to store, although for larger items you may just want to pay the £4.95 for orders under £50 – or add something else to your order.

Kitting up for a child can be incredibly expensive, and honestly I’ve never understood the concept of a ‘nursery’ as such – spend a fortune to two – four years later spend another fortune on redecorating? Not me thanks. I’m just too tight-fisted for that! At some point, however, I suppose it will become necessary, and when that time comes for us, I’ll be glad for offers such as this one.

Starting at £42 instead of £60  for an antique Mothercare Bedside Table, prices range through to the Hannington Wardrobe, or the Primrose Wardrobe, both of which were £400 and are now reduced to £280, there’s almost everything you need to furnish a room.

There are a few beds to be had in the sale too, and the Jamestown 3ft Bed in White is reduced from £180 to £126 and comes with free delivery.  You need to buy a mattress separately, but in my experience, the ‘free’ mattress you get with beds is usually pretty rubbish anyway.

Happy decorating!

Character World Toy Story Toddler Bed £55.92 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 26 September, 2011 at 9:00 am

Character World Toy Story Toddler Bed £55.92 @ AmazonIf you're looking for a Toy Story toddler bed, then you need to get yourself over to Amazon because they have some and are selling for the lowest price...at the moment.

'At the moment' - because we know what Amazon are like for tinkering around with their prices.

Even so, they'll have to increase the price by quite a bit to topple themselves off the lowest price top spot; they're selling this Toy Story toddler bed for £55.92 (instead of £99.00) and the next competitive price I found was £79.95 from both Mothercare and Kiddicare.

It has a tubular steel frame with a plastic headboard, footboard and side rails; the headboard and footboard feature everyone's favourite Toy Story characters.

When it's put together the Toy Story toddler bed measures 146cm x 75cm and needs a cotbed mattress measuring 140cm x 70cm.

Character beds are great for encouraging reluctant sleepers to leap into bed with their favourite 'friends', or just for adding to the overall impact of a themed bedroom.

Tu Take Off Bed In A Bag Duvet Set £7.50 @ Sainsbury's

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 July, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Tu Take Off Bed In A Bag Duvet Set £7.50 @ Sainsbury'sIf you fly over to Sainsbury's you'll be able to pick up one of these Tu Take Off bed in a bag duvet sets for just £7.50 instead of £25.00

I can't help it, I love new duvet covers and anything along those lines; they don't have to be for me either, I just like to see new covers and sheets on beds.

This Tu Take Off bed in a bag set contains a single duvet cover, a pillowcase, a fleece blanket and a cushion cover which all feature a rather cool aeroplane design.

It's all made from a mixture of polyester and cotton so everything is very soft and 'touchy-feely', and the blanket has a a blanket stitch edge to it (I always like the look of that).

The whole set is packed into one bag that has built-in handles; I really like how this looks as it makes it lovely to wrap up and give as a little 'just because' pressie.

Everything can be washed at 40ºC, but as the saying goes 'if it's not dirty, wash at 30!'

For those who like to know the ins and outs, here are the dimensions for everything:

  • Duvet cover measures 135x200cm
  • Pillowcase measures 75x50cm
  • Cushion cover measures 45x45cm
  • Fleece blanket measures 125x150cm

You can have your Tu Take Off bed in a bag set, delivered to your home, if you wish - it'll cost you £3.95 - or you can arrange to collect it in-store for free.

Children’s Decorative Cushions 50% Off @ Tesco

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 4 July, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Children’s Decorative Cushions 50% Off @ Tesco

There’s 50% off two decorative cushions for children’s rooms at Tesco at the moment.

When the volcano erupted last year, I was in Norway, in the air during the eruption and on the second flight back to the UK. While traipsing the streets of Oslo trying to make the best of my time I came across a store called Kid, where they had all sorts of shaped pillows for children. I bought a few of them, excited at the prospect of decorating my little girl’s room.  We put up a mosquito net as a castle ‘turret’ in the  corner of her room, and it’s filled with cozy pillows in the shape of cupcakes, lions, hearts, butterflies and so on, as well as large teddy bears, and a huge Peppa Pig from Peppa Pig World.  It’s a really cosy spot, where she sometimes plays, and lies down pretending to be asleep.

The two cushions available at Tesco are the Butterfly Cushion for £3.50 instead of £7, and the Love Embroidered Cushion half price at £4 instead of £8.

Click and collect is free, but home delivery is £5.

Pink Fluffy Bed Canopy £10.21 @ Tesco

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 26 February, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Pink Fluffy Bed Canopy £10.21 @ Tesco

Tesco is selling a bed canopy for little girls for £10.21

I love the look of this bed canopy for two uses:

We went camping in Europe last summer, and the mosquitoes nearly ate my daughter alive. Having one of these hanging from the loop in the tent might actually be a pretty good compromise between mosquitoes and stifling heat.

A more usual use if you're not going to hang it over the bed is to hang it in a corner of the room, and make a play area around it.

But of course, it can also just be a bed, cot, crib or junior bed canopy. It's 100% polyester, and must be hand washed only. It has a screw hook for screwing into the ceiling and according to reviewers, it's great quality and looks more expensive than it is. The loop in some of them is apparently not central and can hang a bit odd, but that hasn't deterred anyone.

Store collection is free, and Tesco clubcard holders will receive 20 Clubcard points.

Ben 10 Alien Force Rug £6.99 @ Sainsburys

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 January, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Ben 10 Alien Force Rug £6.99 @ SainsburysSainsbury's have knocked a few pounds off this Ben 10 Alien Force Rug and are selling it for £6.99 instead of £10.

My four-and-a-half year old is Ben 10 crazy, I'm not sure there's anything Ben 10 that he doesn't know about or doesn't have...apart from a Ben 10 Alien Force Rug.

I'm writing this deal in stealth mode now so he doesn't see it and embark on a speech SO epic, SO heartwrenching and convincing that it would rob Colin Farrel of the Oscar for Best Actor.

I laughed out loud for real when I read the Ben 10 Alien Force Rug blurb on the Sainsbury's website, apparently it has the POWER to keep your floor clean hahaha.

If you've never watched Ben 10 then this won't be funny, but I got an image in my head of Ben turning into a rug instead of Swampfire or Humungosaur and saying, "FLOOR CLEANING P-O-W-E-R!"

Anyway, back to the Ben 10 Alien Force Rug, aside from it's floor-cleaning powers it's also machine washable up to 40C so you can just bung it in the machine when it gets a bit grubby (from all that floor cleaning).

Click and collect for free at your nearest Sainsbury's is your best option for getting your hands on a Ben 10 Alien Force Rug, but if for some reason you can't get to one then they'll drop one off to you for £3.95.

Pink Trunki Travel Toy Box £10.88 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 January, 2011 at 8:00 am

Pink Trunki Travel Toy Box £10.88 @ AmazonThis pink Trunki Travel Toy Box usually costs £19.99, Amazon are currently selling them for £10.88.

As big fans of anything Trunki, here at PlayPennies, we all went, “Ooooh….!” when the words Trunki Toy box were uttered.

Kids love to push things around - you, their brothers and/or sisters and their toy boxes.  All of my children used to put things in boxes and proceed to push them around the lounge.

Have more than one Trunki Toy Box? Join them together and you've got yourself a Trunki Toy Box train which is just perfect for your children and their friends to scoot around en masse.

It can be a cart, it can be a rocker so you can rock your teddies off to sleep (very important for tired teddies and imaginative play).

All we need now is a Gruffalo set of Trunki Toy Boxes and we’ll be very VERY happy indeed!

There are blue Trunki Toy Boxes available too, but these are selling for a little more at £14.99.

Child's Single Duvet Cover Set £6.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 23 January, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Child's Single Duvet Cover Set £6.99 @ Argos

There are a few children's single duvet cover sets available at reduced prices at Argos.

Changing the bedding is probably one of the easier and cheaper ways of changing the appearance of the room and giving your little one a new environment.

The Waybuloo Duvet Cover Set comprises a duvet cover and a pillowcase. It is 100% microfibre polyester, and machine washable at 40C, which is good if you have a bed-wetter, I guess, and more importantly, can be tumble dried.

There's also the In The Night Garden Tombliboos Duvet Cover Set, which also consists of a duvet cover and pillowcase. This one is 50% cotton and 50% polyester , which is definitely better for kiddies with eczema as it will sweat less. It is machine washable at 50C and fine for tumble drying.

The In The Night Garden Duvet Cover Set has much better reviews than the Waybuloo one, which may swing you towards the latter, or holding out for a different Waybuloo set.

There are loads of others to choose from too, starting from £3.99, so check out Argos.

Tidy Books Kids Bedroom Furniture Online Voucher: 20% Off

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 7 January, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Tidy Books Kids Bedroom Furniture Online Voucher: 20% OffUse this online voucher code to get 20% off Tidy Books kids bedroom furniture. The retailer sells a very small, but very lovely selection of bookcases, tidy's, and accessories for keeping books in order in the bedroom.

Click here for 20% off Tidy Books kids bedroom furniture

  • Discount: 20%
  • Promotional code: SP20
  • Expires: Unknown

Although I couldn't find any information about when this code might expire, on the website it says "for a limited time only". So I would assume or guess that it will run out sometime at the end of the month.

To use the code, you need to go to checkout. You'll have to register with the site, and you enter the code in the relevant box on the same page that you register.

Next, you'll see it automatically applied to your bill. I tried it out on an absolutely lovely Tidy Books Box, with a natural lacquer finish.  I particularly liked it as it looked really good, and the play clock on the side can be removed. I'm thinking it would make a great accessory for magazines in the lounge when son has moved on to more paper backed sized books as he gets older. That is, if he doesn't draw all over it or put stickers everywhere! This sells for £69, which isn't bad for a nicely crafted piece of furniture. With the discount of 20%, this came down to 55.20. Delivery on the site is £6.95 for this item, so it worked out very well to a total of £62.10 including delivery.

Character Junior Beds @ PriceRightHome.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 September, 2010 at 9:00 am

Character Junior Beds @ PriceRightHome.comI'm really smitten with the various character junior beds that are on offer at pricerighthome.com.

There is something here for every young character fan!

There are others too that all vary in price and reduction.

The more I look at these the more of a 'Scrooge' parent I feel - none of my kids had character beds, they all had cot beds so went straight from those to full size singles.

But just look at these beds, they are so ACE!

I don't know any self-respecting little Cars fan who wouldn't love to leap into his (or hers) Cars character bed with Lightening McQueen to keep them company.

You see character beds can be very useful in enticing your little one into bed, if they've suddenly decided that bedtime isn't really for them.

Now, free delivery doesn't kick in until you spend more than £75.

So you can either buy just the bed and pay £4.95 or you can add a couple of other character things to match your child's new bed and tip yourself into the free delivery bracket.

PriceRightHome.com also accept PayPal too, for anyone who wants to pay that way.

Disney Duvet Covers £8 @ Tesco Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 September, 2010 at 4:00 pm

IDisney Duvet Covers £8 @ Tesco Directt's nice to find something 'Disney' that's not massively overpriced and at just £8 a set, I don't think we can say these duvet cover sets are that!

I've always had a bit of a thing for bedding sets, ever since I was a kid, and I have to try really hard to not to keep buying them.

They don't even have to be bargains like these Disney ones, and they don't have to be for the kids either - there's just something about climbing in between new sheets that have never been slept on, or under!

OK..maybe it's just me then, but I bet your kids will love seeing their favourite Disney characters waiting for them at bedtime.

Character covers can also be a useful tool for getting tired 'but I'm NOT tired' toddlers and pre-schoolers in to bed; whatever it takes I say!

There are four Disney duvet cover sets included in this offer, which runs up until the 29 September: Cars, Toy Story, Minnie Mouse and Disney Princess.

Disney Duvet Covers £8 @ Tesco DirectThey were all £12 originally but are now £8 - please arrange to collect them from your local store if you can, otherwise you'll lose out on the savings by paying almost £6 in delivery charges.

White Pine Crib £29.50 @ John Lewis

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 3 July, 2010 at 10:00 am

White Pine Crib £29.50 @ John LewisThis crib from John Lewis is a rather delicious deal to start the day with!

Not everyone wants to have a moses basket - I have a couple of friends who really couldn't stand them, they didn't like all the 'frills and faff'.

But if you don't want a moses basket and the thought of putting your tiny baby down to sleep in a HUGE cot bed from day one what are your other options?

This John Lewis Max Crib could be just the thing you're looking for! Measuring L93 x W47 x H79cm it's little enough not to to be too enormous for a newborn and big enough for them not to grow out of it in the blink of an eye.

Made of pine and painted white (the end panels are MDF), the design is simple and elegant and utterly perfect if you don't like 'frills and faff', and John Lewis have reduced it from £59.00 down to £29.50 so the price is pretty perfect too!

Standard delivery is £3, free if you arrange to collect from a John Lewis store OR if your order is over £30.  So you can either buy a mattress for your crib too to tip your order into the free delivery bracket or order something little - Zobobump over at HUKD suggested adding John Lewis Value White Tealights, Pack of 50 (Product code - 78781021), now that's PlayPennies thinking!

In the Night Garden Fleece £3.50 @ Tesco Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 July, 2010 at 8:00 am

In the Night Garden Fleece £3.50 @ Tesco DirectIt's cloudy and chilly in my little part of the world this morning, so kicking off this PlayPennies Friday with an In the Night Garden fleece blanket seems more than appropriate.

What did we do in a world before fleece?! When I was a kid there was no such thing as pulling on a fleece jumper on a cool summer evening, there was no such thing as curling up under a fleece blanket on the sofa and feeling instantly warm!

It was heavy blankets and thick woollen jumpers all the way; not such a big deal when you're not the one who has to wash and dry them, they took up a lot of space in the washing machine and an inordinate amount of time to dry.

It's no wonder we all took anything made of fleece to our hearts - it's light, doesn't take up a lot of room, it's warm and cosy, easy to wash and comes out of the washing machine almost as dry as it was when it went in.

In the Night Garden Fleece £3.50 @ Tesco DirectThis In the Night Garden fleece is brightly coloured, features Iggle Piggle, is washable up to 40 degrees and Tesco have reduced it down from £7 to £3.50 - collect it for free from your local store and save  yourself the enormous £5 delivery charge.

Thomas Free Standing Storage and Shelves £36 @ Mail Order Express

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 12 May, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Thomas Free Standing Storage and Shelves £36 @ Mail Order Express"Peep peeeep! Time to tidy up now," said Thomas.

Ok, so Thomas doesn't really say that but my four-year-old believes he does and quite enjoys tidying up as a result and a tidy toddler IS a result!

These shelves and big drawers are just fab - lots of storage for all the bits and pieces that toddlers accumulate and being free-standing they can be moved around easily.

I have to be very careful when I write about Thomas things that they don't get spotted by the aforementioned tidy toddler otherwise I never hear the end of it and this paticular item is just his cup of tea.

I can't find any dimensions for you but I did come across a glowing review on Amazon - here's what it said...

"This storage unit was purchased for my son's 2nd birthday. He has a Thomas themed bedroom. He loved it from the moment he saw it on the box. I loved it too beacause as someone who does NO DIY it was SO easy to put together using the clip mechanisim with no screws...the drawers are material so I know my son won't pull them out and hurt himself, the shelves are fixed really well and hold a good number of books and everything is at an accessable height for my 2year old. Im really pleased with this purchase and would reccomend it to anyone who was thinking about buying its much better than the Thomas toy storage boxes out there. Thanks!

So there you go!  Delivery is free (we always like that) and if you use this 10% discount code  - spring10 - at the checkout the published price of £39.99 reduces down to £36.

"Peep peep! What a bargain!!" said Thomas (yeah, ok I made that one up too but I bet he WOULD say it!)

Peppa Pig Dressing Table @ Argos

by Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 12 April, 2010 at 4:00 pm

This super-cute kids deal is a Princess Peppa Pig dressing table with stool is £16.99 at Argos right now, down from £29.99, saving you a rather lovely £13.00.Peppa Pig Dressing Table @ Argos

The brightly coloured dressing table will delight little Peppa fans but seems really functional too. It comes with a battery-operated hairdryer and loads of other accesories, too.

It also features a light-up mirror, and it plays fun Peppa Pig sounds as well as the unmistakable Peppa theme tune. I predict that could get seriously irritating to parents, though children are bound to adore it. It requires 5 x AA batteries which - impressively - are included so I suppose you could always, ahem, 'lose' the batteries if all the noise gets too much.

There are 9 reviews by Argos customers and they're all positive. They score the item 4.7 stars out of a possible 5 and most seem to agree that it is delightfully easy to assemble which is always a plus.

At £16.99 it seems like a good price for an item that is both fun and functional.

It's suitable for ages 3 years and over.
