All of my children have grown up with the Beatrix Potter stories but it's my youngest who fell in love with them most; his favourite story, by far, is The Tale of Jeremy Fisher.

Whilst other stories and characters, like Thomas the Tank Engine, have fallen out of favour due to him being 'too grown up for baby stories', Jeremy Fisher remains on his top three bedtime stories list (he's five-and-a-half by the way, just in case this is your first ever foray into the world of PlayPennies; welcome!).

I love Christmas and everything that goes with it. I can happily plan it for three months before the actual event - hence my lack of guilt in mentioning it as soon as we hit September - and look forward to buying things for the 'Christmas stash' and putting it all away in the cupboard.

Charlie and Lola are just SO awesome!

I really like the concept of teaching kids little life lessons but sometimes it can come across as either a bit patronising, or so sickly sweet you just want to throw up! Charlie and Lola manages to be neither whilst still getting its message across.

I have been known to watch Charlie and Lola when I'm on my own and there are no children in the house, the teenagers like to watch it too you see!

So there I was merrily writing up a deal all about another online entertainment retailer, when an email from Zavvi arrived bragging about 'New Stuff' and 'Cheaper Prices'.  Cheaper prices! Now that's what I like to hear! So I had to stop and take a look.

I remember when CDs cost a fortune, when DVDs cost even more and MP3s weren't even part of our vocabulary! Well times have changed and prices for all these things are almost at rock bottom, especially if you buy them from Zavvi.

The other day my daughter asked me if I'd seen any of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. I'm not sure she was glad she asked in the end because what followed was a very animated explanation which kicked off with, "YEAH! They were DEAD scary! People were too scared to shut their eyes and go to sleep! It was MAD!"

And they were/ARE scary! Zavvi have the Nightmare on Elm Street DVD box set with all seven movies on offer for £9.95, reduced from £39.29, and on the one hand I'm very tempted but on the other...I've got used to sleeping at night again! Not only that, if the Teenagers watched them and said they weren't as scary as I'd said, I'd be a bit miffed!

Lazytown - you're either a lover or a hater!

It's been the hot topic of discussion here at PlayPennies for the last 10 minutes - Tamsin wants to eat chocolate in front of Sporticus and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a hater; I dislike this show almost as much as I loathe Marmite!

I have a love-hate relationship with nursery rhyme books that come with CDs, on the one hand they're a GREAT idea as the CD adds an extra dimension to whole nursery rhyme singing experience but on the other, it means Kings of Leon and Snow Patrol barely get any airplay in my car anymore!

This Wheels on the Bus song book with its CD is sure to become a firm favourite with your child and you'll quickly discover that you STILL remember the words to songs you haven't thought about for years, and will probably find yourself humming them to yourself when your little singer has moved on to another activity for the day- you know how that goes.

I almost feel like I'm betraying you my fellow parents, but your kids are going to LOVE this - all their favourite Boogie Beebies songs remixed in three stylees - Dance, Motown and Reggae.
