Hot Wheels Mega Garage £24.99 @ Smyths Toys

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 1 November, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Hot Wheels Mega Garage £24.99 @ Smyths ToysSmyths Toys have reduced the price of this Hot Wheels Mega Garage from £59.99, down to £24.99.

One of my cousins had something similar to this Hot Wheels Mega Garage, years ago, and I loved going round to his house on a Saturday afternoon to play with it; I was a car fan then and I'm a car fan now - who says that girls have to play with toy irons and vacuum cleaners?! It was cars and Star Wars figures all the way for me.

It features five ramps and three levels - which is properly awesome - where you can bring your cars to fix them or just park them; I spent hours driving lots of cars up onto the various garage levels and just parking them. It also boasts a working car elevator, a turnstile and two car launchers and one Hot Wheels car; awesome.

The Hot Wheels Mega Garage is available to buy in-store, if you have a Smyths near you, and online too - home delivery will cost you an additional £4.99, unless you find something else to buy that will take your order to over £39, then delivery is free.

Pack Away Garage £10 @ Asda Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 31 May, 2011 at 9:00 am

Pack Away Garage £10 @ Asda Direct

Asda Direct are selling this Pack Away Garage for half price, it's £10 now instead of £20.

Give me cars to play with, of any size, real or toys, and I'm a happy girl; it's always been the same as dolls were just not for me, so don't fall into the stereotype trap that cars and garages are just for boys.

Playing with cars on their own is ok, but just vroom-vrooming them around can get a bit boring so a garage is what you need to spice up the driving experience a bit.

This Pack Away garage is great for doing just that.

You can drive your cars in, you can choose to drive right the top (even though there are plenty of spaces on levels one and two) and execute some rather complicated parking manoeuvres before it's time to drive out again; brilliant!

There's the obligatory car lift and also a helipad on the top; when you've done enough driving for the day you simply close up the three levels of the Pack Away garage and it becomes a car tyre - well, not a REAL car tyre obviously otherwise I'd definitely have them on MY car!

You can arrange to collect this Pack Away garage from your local Asda store or have it delivered to your home for £4.95 instead.

Happy driving!

Hot Wheels Basic Cars Assortment 47p @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 28 May, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Hot Wheels Basic Cars Assortment 47p @ Argos

These Hot Wheels Basic Cars are 94p each at Argos, and are also buy one get one free, making them effectively 47p each until 31 May.

So the up side is that these are really good value for money, but the down side is that you don’t seem to be able to choose which ones you want. Perhaps if you go to Argos on a really quiet day or time and have a friendly assistant they’ll bring you a few to choose from, otherwise it seems to be a bit luck of the draw.

Nono2522, from HUKD, bought 20 of these for a boys’ party bag filler, which I thought was a very good idea for not too much money.

The reviewers are generous and give the range 4.5 stars, with the general complaint being that you don’t know what’s going to turn up and might end up with more than one of the same item and that the title was misleading as people thought they’d get four cars in one purchase, which of course, you don’t.

Argos says these are suitable for children from 3 years old and over.

20 Hot Wheels Die-Cast Cars £10 @ Tesco Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 May, 2011 at 11:00 am

20 Hot Wheels Die-Cast Cars £10 @ Tesco Direct

If you pop over to Tesco Direct you'll be able to pick up 20 Hot Wheels die-cast cars for half price£10 instead of £20.

WOW, look at all those cars!

These awesome Hot Wheels die-cast cars are 1/64th the size of their full-size counterparts and the colours will vary from the ones in the picture - although you might get a set that's exactly the same I suppose. They're suitable for car fans aged three years and older - let's not be gender or age discriminatory here, I LOVE playing with toy cars even now.

If you're holding a car-themed party sometime soon, then this set of Hot Wheels die-cast cars could easily be split up and a car popped in each party bag - at 50 pence per car this would make a cheap but awesome little gift for party-goers to take home with them.

OR you could just keep them all for yourself and vroom VROOM them around to your heart's content.

You can collect instore for free or arrange to have them delivered to your home, although that will cost you an extra £4.95.

Fireman Sam Fire Engine £4.99 @ Argos eBay Outlet

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 May, 2011 at 11:00 am

Fireman Sam Fire Engine £4.99 @ Argos eBay OutletThe Argos eBay outlet are selling this Fireman Sam Fire Engine for £4.99.

I still find it exciting to see fire engines rushing down the road, with their sirens wailing, en route to rescue a kitten stuck in a tree!

Fireman Sam had cult status in my senior school, anyone who was anyone would rush home to watch the latest installment of Wales' most famous fire fighter; bizarre really, now I come to think about it, we were all aged between 15 and 16.

This Fireman Sam fire engine isn't just a run of the mill Fireman Sam fire engine; it's a FRICTION Fireman Sam fire engine.

Pushing cars, trucks and fire engines along is all well and good, but it's much more fun to be able to pull them back and then let them GO!

You'd think doing the same thing over and over again would get boring, but not with friction cars (or a Fireman Sam fire engine) I could watch them drive across the lounge carpet for HOURS.

Delivery costs just 99p with the Argos eBay outlet and takes, on average, between two and three days to arrive; much more pocket friendly than the £5.95 next day delivery with Argos itself.

Scalextric Digital Race Set £99 @ Model Zone

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 April, 2011 at 11:00 am

Scalextric Digital Race Set £99 @ Model ZoneOh my godness, Scalextric has gone digital and Model Zone are selling this Scalextric Digitial Lane Change race set for £99 instead of £199; yippppeee!

I had a Scalextric set when I was a little girl.  I was never into Barbie or other dolls, they were just SO boring, I was all about cars, go-karts and climbing trees!

I'm still all about cars and anything motorsport - I don't climb trees anymore though, it tends to wreck my nail polish - so I'm rather excited about this Scalextric Digitial Lane Change race set and am rather tempted to buy it (for my youngest son you understand).

With the old sets of yesteryear you could only race two cars at a time (I had two minis) but with this Scalextric Digitial Lane Change race set you  can race up to four cars at the same time; awesome.

Two Digital Chip installed cars are provided - an Aston Martin DBR9 and a Nissan GT-R (I have a friend who drives one of these for real, it's far too much fun) - you'll be performing amazing, realistic overtaking and braking manoeuvres and you can switch lanes at the touch of a button to overtake or block your opponent.

You'll have everything you need to get started with Scalextric Digital - it features an oval circuit and the cars, you can buy additional digital cars or you can, apparently, easily convert most standard cars to run on digital layouts.

The super resistant Nissan GT-R and Aston Martin DBR9 feature change pick-ups and the Magnatraction™ system to help them stay on the circuit.

Four cars can be raced simultaneously using the powerbase provided in the set or upgrade to the Advanced Six Car Digital Powerbase (C7042) for six car races.

That's it, I've managed to convince myself, during the course of writing, that I need this my youngest needs this Scalextric Digitial Lane Change race set in his life; I'm off to order mine his.

Kids Parking Garage £5.40 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 April, 2011 at 9:00 am

Kids Parking Garage £5.40 @ DebenhamsDebenhams are selling this kids play Parking Garage for £5.40 instead of £20.

I love playing with cars - toy ones or real ones, it makes no difference I simply love them all.

I don't remember owning a doll when I was a little girl, I had teddies of course, but I spent most of my time playing with cars, go karts or Star Wars figures.

I especially loved playing with car related toys like this Parking Garage.  My cousin had one and I spent many a happy hour, or ten, just driving cars in, parking them in a space - which, of course, required some VERY complicated manouevres and display of excellent driving skill - and then driving them out again when it was time for 'them' to go.

There aren't any cars included with this parking garage so you'll have to make sure you have some, otherwise it's going to be a bit rubbish.

Talking of rubbish, I've done a bit a of scouting around for reviews of this parking garage and the ones on the Debenhams site are not good. However, I've also read reviews from people who say they haven't had any problems with theirs, so it's going to be up to you whether you decide to take your chances for a fiver or not.

Ah yes, money - the published price on Debenhams is £6, use the following codes at the checkout and you'll get an extra 10% off and free delivery too: use code PV79 for 10% off and SHD1 for free delivery.

Disney Cars Mega Bloks £11.99 @ BargainCrazy

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

Disney Cars Mega Bloks £11.99 @ BargainCrazyBargainCrazy are selling this tub of Disney Cars Mega Bloks for less than half price - £11.99 instead of £36.00 - they even throw in free delivery too; marvellous.

I wish Disney's Cars had been around when my oldest son was smaller, I would have had loads of fun playing with these Disney Cars Mega Bloks.

I love building things just as much as little kids do and whilst traditional Lego can take a little while to get to grips with, this tub of Disney Cars Mega Bloks is full of big chunky pieces that are the perfect size for little hands to deal with.

There are over 60 blocks in the Disney Cars Mega Bloks tub and it also comes with buildable figurines too, so your little one can recreate their favourite scenes from the Disney Cars movie.

They can make up adventures with Lightening McQueen - he was my youngest's favourite, but alas he's too 'big' for Mega Bloks now preferring instead to have me and his dad build him complicated Lego Star Wars models that take more than a couple of man hours.

The Disney Cars Mega Bloks tub is nice and sturdy and comes with a big lid so there's room to pack everything away again after an exhausting day of building.

Fast Lane Parking Garage With 8 Cars £19.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 December, 2010 at 11:00 am

Fast Lane Parking Garage With 8 Cars £19.99 @ Toys R Us

Toys R Us have a rather nice half price deal on this Fast Lane Parking Garage with 8 cars - it's £19.99 now instead of £39.99; marvellous!

I have always had a love for cars and toys like this Fast Lane Parking Garage still do it for me.

Forget Barbie, Sindy, Tiny Tears and all those other stereotypical girly toys, it was cars and Star Wars figures all the way as far as I was concerned, and both my boys learned very early on that if they wanted me to play with them for ages, all they had to do was get the cars out!

This Fast Lane Parking Garage has five levels with a working lift and sounds, lane changing gates that connect each level and it even has a spiral loop for a fast exit!

I WANT ONE!

It's ironic really, you spend hours and hours as a kid, playing with toys like this Fast Lane Parking Garage, having awesome fun parking cars and finding spaces but when you're a grown-up few things are more tedios than trolling round and round the multistory in your car on the prowl for a space.

The Fast Lane Parking Garage can be delivered to your home for £4.95 or you can arrange to collect it in store using the Toys R Us click and collect service.

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers £17.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 December, 2010 at 12:00 pm

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers £17.99 @ PlayPlay have a rather good deal on this My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers set, having reduced it from £34.99 down to £17.99.

Lots of happy childhood memories came flooding back when I saw this My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers set!

My brother had one and, not being a Barbie or Sindy sort of girl, I loved playing with it and racing those cars round and round.

Admittedly, as this was the best part of 30 years ago, the cars weren't BMW Mini Coopers, but they were Minis and they had names to - one of them was called Mini HaHa...that was the red one, and it was mine.

The track is a nice and simple figure of eight, for a frustration-free introduction to the world of Scalextric racing - there's nothing more irritating than spending more time putting your car back on the track than driving it round and round.

My First Scalextric: Mini Coopers comes with two controllers and two BMW Mini Coopers in red and yellow.

There are also red and yellow chevrons on the track, so small people will find it easy to remember which car goes on which side of the track.

Happy Christmas Day Racing!
