My First Christmas Collection - 4 Board Books £2.49 @ Red House BooksIf you're looking for a little stocking filler for someone tiny, that won't break the bank, that they won't grow out of in two seconds flat AND has an educational element to it, then you should have a look at this My First Christmas Collection.

It's comprises four little board books in a presentation slip case and Red House Books are selling them for £2.49 instead of £4.99.

I'm such a fan of little chunky board books; every child should fall in love with books and reading, and introducing them to books and stories as early on in their little lives as possible is the best way to achieve this.

My youngest ADORES books and reading, he has tons of them, and we started off him off with lots of chunky board books like this My First Christmas Collection.

Each book features a different Christmas character and has 10 pages, they're not going to be complicated AT all - just simple pictures with simple words on and pages chunky enough for chubby baby hands to be able to get to grips with; awesome.

Try delivery codes FREERED or 117FREE for free delivery (some people have had to try them a couple of times to get them to work), failing that there'll be a single item delivery charge of £1.95.

Happy Chunky Book Reading

The Gruffalo's Child And Monkey Puzzle Board Books Box Set (Inc Free Height Chart) £5 @ WHSmith

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 October, 2011 at 12:00 pm

The Gruffalo's Child And Monkey Puzzle Board Books Box Set (Inc Free Height Chart) £5 @ WHSmithWHSmith ran this deal last year and it proved to be VERY popular.

If you want to bag yourself a Gruffalo's Child and Monkey Puzzle Board Book box set, with a free height chart, for £5 instead of £11.98, then I suggest you put click one into your basket sooner rather than later!

I can recite The Gruffalo in my sleep but I'm not at all familiar with the sequel - The Gruffalo's Child.

Apparently, one dark night the Gruffalo's child disobeys her father’s warnings and ventures out into the snow. After all, the Big Bad Mouse doesn’t really exist . . . does he?

It sounds AWESOME and I might just have to buy myself my youngest a copy; he's a little bookworm and really enjoys all the other Julia Donaldson books he has.

The Monkey Puzzle is about a baby monkey who's lost his mother, can Butterfly help him find her?

Yes, but only after a lot of trial and error as Butterfly misunderstands Monkey's descriptions and leads him to all kinds of animals which clearly AREN'T his mother; my son never fails to find this utterly hilarious, "Silly butterfly!" he says.

You can arrange to collect your Gruffalo's Child and Monkey Puzzle Board Book box set from a WHSmith store, or you can have it delivered to your home for....

Well I'm not sure actually as the delivery pricing has confused me!  Have a look HERE - it says, for books:

  • Saver delivery = 69p per item - £1.30 per order.

So if you ordered just this one thing, does that mean you'd pay 69 pence or £1.30?!

Your guess is as good as mine!  But with a WHSmith store in, pretty much, every town, I'd just go and collect it for free the next time you're passing.

Guess How Much I Love You Board Book £3.18 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 June, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Guess How Much I Love You Board Book £3.18 @ AmazonGuess How Much I Love You is one of my favourite childrens' stories of ALL time and Amazon are selling the board book version for £3.18,  instead of £4.99

The Guess How Much I Love You story, along with its illustrations, are SO beautiful they almost make my heart ache with joy.

I know what it feels like to try and tell someone just HOW much you love them; there just aren't enough words, or ways, to quantify it!  In Guess How Much I Love You, Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare discover that love isn’t something you can easily measure.

What I can easily measure is just how much I LOVE this book.

There are  various different versions of Guess How Much I Love you - paperback, a sweetheart edition but this one is the board book version which makes it perfect for young hands just getting to grips with turning pages.

I must confess to being rather tempted to buy the sweetheart edition of Guess How Much I Love You just for me (I think I'm a bit grown up for board books now), just to keep, just to look at, just to fall in love with all over again.

You know my Amazon delivery spiel by now, you don't need me to keep saying it over and over do you?

Happy love guessing!

Charlie And Lola Board Book Set £1.50 @ BooksDirectBargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 26 October, 2010 at 11:00 am

Charlie And Lola Board Book Set £1.50 @ BooksDirectBargainsBooks Direct Bargains have a lovely little deal on this Charlie and Lola Board Book set of three books; at 50p a book you really can't go far wrong!

I love Charlie and Lola!

The other day when I was in the park with my youngest, we saw a boy who was the SPITTING image of Charlie - it was quite unnerving actually and I resisted the temptation to look around for Lola!

I don't know anyone who isn't totally smitten with Charlie and Lola, Charlie has...

"...a little sister Lola, she is small and very funny."

Ahhhh it just reminds me of bed time with my youngest when he was a couple of years younger.

Charlie and Lola were on TV at just the right time for post warm bath, in pyjamas and hot milk viewing which was followed by bed and more Charlie and Lola with bed time stories.

These three board books are ideal for really little book worms, the titles are:

  • Charlie and Lola's Things
  • Charlie and Lola's Animals
  • Charlie and Lola's Opposites

If you spend over £5 with BooksDirectBargains then you'll get free delivery, so it's worth looking around to see whether anything else takes your fancy.

Or perhaps order three sets and keep them in the pressie drawer for those last minute present dramas!
