Lord Of The Rings Trilogy Blu Ray DVD £12.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 December, 2011 at 9:00 am

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy Blu Ray DVD £12.99 @ PlayIf you're really stuck for a last minute Christmas present then this Lord of the Rings trilogy box set on Blu ray DVD may just get you out of a hole, it's only going to cost you £12.99 but you are going to have to pay for delivery if you want it delivered by Saturday in time to be wrapped up.

Is it just me who thinks that £12.99 for six Blu ray DVD discs is incredibly cheap? Whatever happened to Blu ray discs being much more expensive than standard DVDs?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining at all, it just seems they've got much cheaper all of a sudden and that can only be a good thing.

I've got the three Lord of the Rings movies on standard DVD already but for this price I may just have to replace/upgrade to the Blu ray versions - if you haven't watched anything on Blu ray and have an HD TV then you're really missing out.

If you haven't seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies then you've also been missing out, they are absolutely EPIC and will absolutely blow you away and leave you wanting more - which is okay as we have The Hobbit to look forward to soon.

Shrek Forever After - DVD and Blu Ray £8.39 @ Zavvi

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 December, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Shrek Forever After - DVD and Blu Ray £8.39 @ ZavviYou can bag yourself a copy of Shrek Forever After on both normal DVD and Blu ray for just £8.39 if you pop over to Zavvi.

There aren't many film franchises that have an original, sequel and sequels after that that I haven't seen all of, but I have to confess I rather lost interest in Shrek after the second one.

I don't know what it is that's turned me off them because I thought the second movie was just as good, if not better, than the first one; perhaps I just haven't been in the right place at the right time to watch it.

I can reliably inform you though, based on what others have said, that it's well worth watching and if you like owning complete sets of movies then it's well worth adding to your Shrek collection too.

Two discs, one standard and one Blu ray, for just £8.39 is a bit of a bargain if you ask me, especially when you consider the full price should be £27.99 - it could mean one copy for the kids to put their finger prints on and one to keep for the HD TV and out of harms way.

There's no delivery to pay with Zavvi and, if they sell out, The Hut are also running this deal too.

The Adventures Of Tintin Blu-ray £16.98 @ Sendit

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 22 November, 2011 at 3:00 pm

The Adventures Of Tintin Blu-ray £16.98 @ Sendit

This is an excellent price for the entire Tintin series on Blu-ray for only £14.99 and costing £16.98 with delivery charges included. Usually the entire Tintin series retails for around £59.99 so this is a whopping bargain for an ace Christmas gift.

Tintin is the world’s most famous boy reporter and with his faithful (and smart) dog, Snowy, at his side, he gets involved in all sorts of crazy adventures. I am delighted by the Tintin madness that’s going around at the moment, I loved Tintin as a kid. Who doesn’t have a soft spot for billions of blistering barnacles Captain Haddock?

The box set here consists of one disc with all the episodes on it along with the usual cast of colourful characters. There’s Thompson and Thomson, Professor Calculis, Oliveira da Figueira and many more. This Blu-ray will definitely be a hit with any young one who likes adventure and laughter.

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (Blu ray) £11.11 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 11 November, 2011 at 9:00 am

Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (Blu ray) £11.11 @ PlayEveryone's been doing a double-take when they see that Play are selling the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on Blu ray for just £11.11!

I have a confession to make - I've never read the Lord of the Rings books! I've read the Hobbit, of course, I think most people have, and I did try to read Lord of the Rings on several occasions, although I was about 10 and the size of those books was just a bit daunting.

I loved the Lord of the Rings movies and I own them already, in standard format, but think I really am going to have to invest a Blu ray set - I've become a recent convert to the magic of high definition and once you've gone there, it's not very pleasant having to go back.

Six discs make up this Lord of the Rings Trilogy and would make a rather nice Christmas pressie, I think, for any Lord of the Rings or Hobbit fan.  Talking of the Hobbit, I can't WAIT for that to hit the big screen - I was utterly mesmerised by it as a child.

No delivery charges to pay for UK mainland delivery with Play, so £11.11 is it.

Back To The Future Trilogy On Blu Ray £13.97 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 8 November, 2011 at 9:00 am

Back To The Future Trilogy On Blu Ray £13.97 @ AmazonAmazon are currently selling this Back to the Future Trilogy on Blu ray for a mere £13.97; what a bargain! I remember, not so long ago, when Blu ray editions of movies were really expensive.

I don't know anyone who doesn't think the Back to the Future films are great and doesn't own a copy of, at least, the first one; but do they have any of these iconic movies on Blu ray?

I have a Back to the Future trilogy box set in standard format and I wouldn't be upset if I unwrapped a Blu ray version on Christmas morning - they, along with the original three Star Wars movies, are on my 'desert island DVD list'.

I can't imagine ever getting bored of them - the concept is just so fantastic and, wow, did I have the biggest crush on Michael J Fox back in the day; I didn't get quite as far as having posters of him on my bedroom wall, but it was close.

Just in case you're completely new to the world of Blu ray DVDs, they are high definition and need to be played on a Blu ray DVD player (I'll keep my eye out for some Blu ray DVD player bargains for you).

Star Wars The Complete Saga (Blu Ray) £57.37 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 August, 2011 at 11:00 am

Star Wars The Complete Saga (Blu Ray) £57.37 @ TescoThe Star Wars Complete Saga Blu ray box set is now available to pre-order; it's release date is 12 September and Tesco are currently offering 15% off Star Wars movies and games, bringing the Complete Saga price down to a guaranteed £57.37 instead of £67.49.

Amazon and all the other usual suspects are pre-selling Star Wars The Complete Saga box sets for £67.49, so if you want to save yourself a tenner don't go to them.

I've been waiting for The Complete Saga to be released for a g e s.

The original three Star Wars movies formed a massive part of my childhood; they'd be part of my desert island DVD collection if I was ever asked to compile such a thing.

I had the original movies in a box set once and then my youngest got seriously into them, they now live with him and I've been patiently waiting to replace them with The Complete Saga ever since.

This complete set of six movies is something I just want to own - I like things to be complete and just owning the first three films now wouldn't be good enough because ONE day I fully intend to sit down and have a Star Wars Day where I watch all six back to back.

Please don't forget to add the 15% Star Wars discount code to your basket - 15SW-1 - otherwise you'll pay full price for it.

Toy Story 1, 2 And 3 Box Set £23.49 @ Base.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 2 May, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Toy Story 1, 2 And 3 Box Set £23.49 @ Base.com

Base is selling the entire Toy Story Collection Blu-ray box set for £23.49 which is a stunningly low price for Blu-ray and for the hugely popular Toy Story movies. The original price for all three was around £38.99 so you are saving £15.50 off the original price.

Toy Story was the first in the trilogy where we meet Woody for the first time and track his exploits as he comes to terms with the arrival of Buzz Lightyear, the famed space ranger. He is expelled from his home, vilified by his friends and learns a lot about himself on the way. It is still as funny today as it was when it first came out.

In Toy Story 2, Woody is kidnapped by a greedy toy collector who wants to sell him on as a part of an elite Woody’s Roundup collection. In this movie we first meet Jessie and Bullseye who capture both our hearts and the heart of Buzz Lightyear (well, Jesse does, anyway).

Finally, In Toy Story 3, we have the last story following the daring friends as they come to terms with the fact that Andy has grown up and grown out of them…

Harry Potter On Blu Ray £17.99 @ HMV

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 November, 2010 at 8:00 am

Harry Potter On Blu Ray £17.99 @ HMVThis is a magical deal (almost as magical as my puns)! HMV are giving away years one to six of Harry Potter on Blu Ray for the astonishing price of £17.99!

I still can't quite get my head around being able to pick up all six of the Harry Potter films on Blu ray for £3 each!

I've checked it, and ordered it, and I promise it's not a mistake - I'm going to say it again, just so it sinks in: years one to six of Harry Potter on Blu Ray for £17.99.

I adore the Harry Potter films - I caught the Chamber of Secrets on TV the other day and it sparked off a bit of a Harry Potter fest'. I dragged out all my non-Blu ray copies and every Sunday afternoon since, I've watched one of them.

The Philosopher's Stone still has to be one of my favourites, it's not as dark, moody or angsty as the later ones.

The Teenagers birthdays are on Wednesday and, over the last decade, going to see the latest Harry Potter film at the cinema has become a bit of a ritual; we're off to see the Deathly Hallows part one on Saturday next week and we can't wait.

If you've never seen any of the Harry Potter films then grabbing years one to six of Harry Potter on Blu ray (did I mention the price was just £17.99) is your chance to see what all the fuss has been about for the last 10 years.

Harry Potter Complete Set 1-6 £24.99 Blu-ray @ Play

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 31 October, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Harry Potter Complete Set 1-6 £24.99 Blu-ray @ Play

Ooooh, now this is a great deal, especially since the new Harry Potter movie is about to hit our shores. Here you get the entire set of Harry Potter movies to date for only £24.99 at Play.com, that’s a substantial saving, especially for Blu-ray!

It’s funny; you’re either a Harry Potter fan or a Harry Potter hater. People don’t seem to be indifferent to these movies and books at all, they always pick a side. I am a huge fan. I remember heaving my very pregnant bulk to see one of them, that’s how much I enjoy them.

The movies (except for the last one) have actually been fantastically well done, really capturing the magic and fun of the Harry Potter books. This is one of the few series that I wanted to see made into a film. Who doesn’t want to see Quidditch in action?

This is a great price for the first six movies, and would make a fabulous Christmas present for any Harry Potter fans you know.

Blu Ray Offer: 3 for £20 @ Sendit.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 July, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Blu Ray Offer: 3 for £20 @ Sendit.comIf you're just dipping your toes into the Blu-ray water then this Blu-ray 3 for £20 offer from Sendit.com will help with the expansion of your collection.

I've got a Blu-ray disc drive on my laptop but I've never watched a Blu-ray movie on it.  You see, up until now I've felt that Blu-ray discs have been overpriced - don't even get me started on the extortionate cost of Disney DVDs either - and you could tell me all you liked about how much better they are than normal DVDs, until the prices were reasonable I wouldn't be buying them!

Well the prices do seem to be coming down now, all I have to do now is actually remember I have something plays Blu-ray discs!

Which movies would I choose to buy with the  sendit.com 3 for £20 Blu-ray DVD offer?  Let me look...

Blu Ray Offer: 3 for £20 @ Sendit.comWallace and Grommit - A Matter Of Loaf And Death,  for the baby of the family as he loves Grommit!

The Mummy - for the Teenage daughter (what can I say, she likes it!) and The Mummy Returns (she likes this one too).

None for me? If you give me some of your spare minutes so I've got time to sit and watch movies, I'll buy Blu-ray DVDs for me...do we have a deal?

HUGE Blu-ray deals @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 July, 2010 at 12:00 pm

HUGE Blu-ray deals @ AmazonWhen I say HUGE blu-ray deals at Amazon, I'm talking at LEAST 60% off over 705 different titles!

I've never watched a movie on Blu-ray DVD in my life, despite having a Blu-ray drive on my laptop that I've had for the last 18 months!

Why? Well, primarily because I keep forgetting that it's a Blu-ray drive but also beccause the discs have always been, in my opinion, hugely expensive; they seem to be starting to come down in price now and I'm assuming that before long most, if not all, new DVD players will be Blu-ray compatible.

So in a bid to show willing in embracing this not-really-new-anymore technology and taking advantage of Amazon's generosity - here's a quick whistle stop tour through some of the films they've got on offer (you can sort them by genre if you don't fancy trawling through all 705 in one go!).

HUGE Blu-ray deals @ AmazonFor romantics - The Time Traveller's Wife - £7.49 (was £24.99) SAVING 70%

For kids - The Wild - £6.93 (was £26.99) SAVING 72%

For drama - My Sister's Keeper - £5.99 (was £24.99) SAVING 76%

For boxsets - The Mummy Trilogy - £14.93 (was £49.99) SAVING 70%

All titles qualify for free delivery if you go for the SuperSaver delivery deal.

Ocean's Trilogy (Blu-ray DVD) £14.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 March, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Ocean's Trilogy (Blu-ray DVD) £14.99 @ AmazonAnyone who knows me please take note - I want these!

I think the Ocean's movies are perfectly pitched for an evening in with a glass of wine and chocolates for her and a couple of beers and...something for him.

Not chick-flicks so he'll be happy and enough eye-candy in the form of Messers Pitt, Clooney, Damon et al for us girls, along with fast-moving story lines, suspense and more than a touch of humour. Before long you'll find yourself wanting to be part of a Danny Ocean team!

I can't quite get over the price of this 4-disc blu-ray DVD box set - how can it be £14.99 (the rrp is £34.99)?!  Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen and a disc packed full of extras all for just £14.99 (the rrp is £34.99!).

Ocean's Trilogy (Blu-ray DVD) £14.99 @ AmazonDon't know anything about these movies?  Well essentially it's about a group of con artists who set about pulling off big heists and getting revenge on those who have 'wronged' them in the past all done with style, charm and suave sophistication.

Please make sure that you have a blu-ray compatible player before you buy these otherwise you're going to end up disappointed (or it'll give you a good excuse to go out and buy a new shiny blu-ray DVD player!).
