Being VERY excited about a new bike is, I think, one of those universal laws.  It doesn' t matter how old you are or where you live in the world, getting a new bike is VERY cool.

The Teenagers' birthdays are both in November and even though the new bike excitement was off the scale, having to dress up like Scott of the Antarctic wasn't so much fun.

My youngest's birthday is July, a much more civilised month to be playing outside on your birthday present bike!

I remember getting a bike for Christmas when I was little - it had a little carry thing on the back that I used to put my tea set in and my Little Bear story book!

My son has had a pedal-less bike since he was 2. To be honest he outgrew it a year ago, but he's so attached to it that we've not been able to make the transition. Now he's just far too big and needs something larger. He's small for his age, but still he has probably also outgrown many of the 'first bike' models out there as well!

According to bigpoppa at HUKD, who first posted this deal, the Magna Major Damage bike is a little larger than other first bikes. I couldn't find anything about the bike's actual size on the site, other than the wheels being 12 inches.

The bike has detachable stabilizers. The website says that "there's also a handlebar pad to help keep them safe as they master their balance and have lots of fun too. " The recommended age range for this bike is three to four years old.

Not having daughters, I have to confess to not really understanding the fuss about Baby Annabell but from what I hear, she's a hit with little ladies everywhere. So this trike, down from £29.99 to £14.99 just now at Tesco Direct, should raise a smile or two.
