Ben 10 Pocket Library £2.76 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 31 October, 2012 at 9:00 am

Ben 10 Pocket Library £2.76 @ PlayPlay are selling this little Ben 10 Pocket Library for £2.76 - its usual price is £4.99 and Amazon, along with the Book Depository, are behind in this little price war selling them for £3.69 and £4.37 respectively.

My days of Ben 10 are over.  My youngest son, Edward, seems to have moved away from being obsessed with the boy alien-hunter onto other things like: going to Beavers, playing cricket and football and generally not watching much TV at all.

He's always loved reading too and has a fair few pocket library collections on his book shelves - they're great little inventions and ideal for encouraging a love of books from very early on.

With this Ben 10 Pocket Library, six little Ben 10 books come presented in a slip case and the pages of each one will feature just a couple of words with a full-page picture - this is just enough for very little ones and the chunky pages make it very easy for them to be able to turn the pages themselves.

You don't need to pay anything extra for delivery of your Ben 10 Pocket Library, so £2.76 is your full and final cost figure; marvellous.

Ben 10 Single Duvet And Fleece Set £9.50 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 1 February, 2012 at 11:00 am

Ben 10 Single Duvet And Fleece Set £9.50 @ TescoTesco have reduced the price of this Ben 10 single duvet and fleece blanket set by 50 pence shy of £10, bringing it down to £9.50 from £19.

I was going to comment on stating the obvious by saying that this Ben 10 duvet and fleece blanket set was single bed size, but with an ever-increasing army of adult fans I wouldn't be surprised to see double and king-size versions.

I'm going to buy this for my eldest son, he's 17  and is leaving home in March to take up his post in the British Army (proud mummy moment, indulge me).  He's got a year at Army Foundation College first and when we went on a tour of the barracks back in September we were all rather amused to see that all the boys (who'd completed the first six weeks of training) had kiddie duvet covers - the more childish the better!

I kid you not!  There was one young soldier who had a Dora the Explorer duvet set on his bed - I'm not sure Jack would thank me for one of those, but Ben 10 I think he'll be able to 'do'.

So, the Ben 10 duvet and fleece blanket set comes with a duvet cover, pillowcase and a fleece blanket  all of which are machine washable and can be thrown in the tumble drier too.

The set is suitable for any little one who's in a single 'grown-up' bed or young soldiers about to embark on their Army career *grin*

Ben 10 Kevin Levins Car £15 @ Asda

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 25 October, 2011 at 11:00 am

Ben 10 Kevin Levins Car £15 @ AsdaAsda have reduced the price of this Ben 10 Kevin Levin's car down to £15 from £29.97.

I bought this for my youngest son, last year, when he right in the middle of a fantical Ben 10 phase; I also paid the full £29.97 price for it.  He loved it though, all the while Ben 10 was the biggest hero to ever have graced the TV and big screen, and it occasionally gets the odd dusting off and quick spin round the lounge carpet.

It has various features and comes with various things - it's not just a car, you know, it's proper name is Kevin Levin's Action Cruiser!

The sides of the car come down to transform it into battle mode and it fires 'DNA capsules filled with planetary powder', let me explain.  Kevin Levin's car comes with three plastic balls that open in half, along with three little alien models and some powder; you put the alien in the ball and some powder, add water and put the ball back together.  The powder swells up and the alien is encased in 'stuff' inside the ball.

You stash your DNA balls in the boot if the car and they get ejected down the ramp at the front - it's all very 'complex' as any good Action Cruiser should be! You also get a Kevin Levin figure to sit in the driver's seat too.

Standard home delivery with Asda costs £2.95 or you can arrange to collect your Kevin Levin Action Cruiser in-store for free.

Ben 10 3-Piece Luggage Set £6.99 @ Argos eBay Outlet

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 6 September, 2011 at 8:00 am

Ben 10 3-Piece Luggage Set £6.99 @ Argos eBay OutletThe Argos eBay Outlet are selling this 3-Piece  Ben 10 Alien Force Luggage Set for less than half-price; £6.99 instead of £19.99.

Of all the Ben 10 things my youngest has, he doesn’t have this Ben 10 Alien Force 3-piece luggage set.

He could do with it to be honest as he quite often goes away with his dad and he’s yet to perfect the male art of travelling light, every toy and book he possess MUST go with them.

This Ben 10 Alien Force 3-piece luggage set comprises a trolley bag, draw string bag and wallet.  The trolley bag has two base wheels and retractable handle.

The drawstring bag has two velcro straps and a shoulder strap; the wallet has velcro fastening too and four pockets on the inside.

All of these items are made from woven nylon, which is ideal as it makes them tough and durable and wipe clean.

Things at the Argos eBay Outlet tend to sell out quite fast, so if you want one of these Ben 10 Luggage sets I'd grab one pronto.

Standard delivery is £1.99.

Kids Headphones £5.98 Delivered @ Game

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 8 April, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Kids Headphones £5.98 Delivered @ Game

Kids headphones featuring various favourite characters are on sale at Game for £5.98 – a £7.01 saving, and delivery is included in the price.

I'm not really sure how good headphones are for children, or whether they should be having noise that close to developing ear drums, but these caught my eye specifically because they sit on the ear, rather than in it.

While I prefer in ear headphones for sound quality and noise reduction, I'm not sure that's great for little ones!

Apparently these were “designed with kids in mind” by “helping protect your children’s hearing whilst providing excellent value for money.”

There are only two reviews, with very differing opinions – a five star and a one star, so no real help there.

Options available are Ben 10, Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants.

Ben 10 Pencil Case £4.00 @ Tesco Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

Ben 10 Pencil Case £4.00 @ Tesco DirectThe last time I wrote about this Ben 10 pencil case it FLEW out of stock, so PLEASE don’t hang around if you want one!

This Ben 10 Pencil Case isn't just any old boring pencil case, oh no!

It’s a triple decker beast of a pencil case and has more pens, pencils and bits and pieces in it than you can shake a pencil sharpener at!

It actually contains a notepad, ballpoint pen, pencil, ruler, set square, protractor, sharpener, eraser, 14 felt tip pens, and 14 colouring pencils.

I have no idea whether this Ben 10 Pencil Case is available to buy in-store or not, but delivery TO a Tesco store of your choice is free - seriously, don't pay for home delivery otherwise your Ben 10 Pencil Case will end up being the most expensive set of pencils, rulers, rubbers and protractors you've ever bought.

The Ben 10 Pencil Case is up for grabs for half-price - £4.00 instead of £8.00 - and like I said they tend to vanish off the virtual shopping shelves pretty sharpish, so don't dawdle if you want one.

Ben 10 Inline Scooter and Lodestar Ultimate Alien Action Figure Review

by Sarah Macdonald in Reviews on 16 February, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Ben 10 Inline Scooter and Lodestar Ultimate Alien Action Figure ReviewI was a little late to the Ben 10 party it has to be said. I kept seeing Ben 10 stuff EVERYWHERE - Ben 10 clothes, Ben 10 figures, Ben 10 bubble bath, Ben 10 towels, Ben 10 bikes and Ben 10 scooters.

At the time, my youngest was still into Thomas and Bob the Builder so I didn't pay a great deal of attention to whatever, or whoever, this Ben 10 was; then I found a deal for something Ben 10 and figured I should find out what I was going to be talking about.

My youngest caught Ben 10 fever shortly after that, and that's really the only way to describe the hoo-hah surrounding the boy (now teenage) alien hunter, and my life and bank balance haven't been the same since.

Woolworths very kindly sent us a Ben 10 Inline Scooter and Lodestar action figure to review.

My youngest already has both of these things, Tamsin's daughter couldn't care less about Ben 10, Lynley's son is also Ben 10'd up to the rafters and Luschka and Emma both have girls under one, so we shipped the scooter and Lodestar off to PlayPennies mum, Louise.

Ben 10 Inline Scooter and Lodestar Ultimate Alien Action Figure Review"My eight-year0ld daughter, Ellie, was SO excited when the Ben 10 inline scooter arrived," Louise told us, clearly Ben 10 isn't just for boys!

"Playing with it last Saturday made her a very happy little girl indeed," Louise continued, "It had been wet and windy all week and we were waiting for a sunny weekend."

We thoroughly admired Louise's family's optimism about the weather, especially as February can be a bit tricksy with warm days one minute and snow-filled ones the next, but they were duly rewarded and Saturday morning dawned bright.

"I really wanted Ellie to try out the scooter so with the sun shining, and my husband in the shower, I seized the day and opened the box," Louise reported, "I removed all the packaging and hoped to have the Ben 10 inline scooter assembled by the time he was out, so he could take the girls to the park."

Louise was surprised, and rather thrilled, that it only took her a few minutes to put the Ben 10 inline scooter together and be able to call Ellie over to have a go on it.

"My daughter was delighted to see it assembled so quickly and I was SO pleased because I was expecting it to take much longer than a few minutes, it really couldn't have been easier."

Ben 10 Inline Scooter and Lodestar Ultimate Alien Action Figure ReviewLouise's last experience in assembling Ellie's first scooter was somewhat different by all accounts, so Louise was very pleased to not to have gone through that drama again. considering the last experience with Ellie’s first scooter.

So what was it like to scoot on? A scooter's no fun if it doesnt' scoot very well, even if it is a Ben 10 one!

"When my husband and two daughters came back from the park, I asked Ellie what the Ben 10 inline scooter was like.  She gave me a thumbs-up and said, "It was much easier to balance on this one than my old one, mummy!""

Well that's excellent news for Ben 10 fans who might have been sitting on the fence wondering whether or not to buy one of these Ben 10 inline scooters - it has a printed footboard and the handle has a quick-fold mechanism, making it easy to fold up and put in the boot of the car if you want to scoot around somewhere a little further away from home.

We also sent Louise a Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Lodestar action figure.

Ben 10 Inline Scooter and Lodestar Ultimate Alien Action Figure ReviewLodestar is a Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, he's a Biosovortian and has quite a few special abilities! He has magnetic powers, super strength, can generate shields and levitate; not bad, I could do with having some special powers!

His hands and feet are like crab claws and he has a floating metal head that hovers between his big, very pointy shoulders.

"There isn't really much I can say about Lodestar," Louise confessed, "what's to tell? He's black and yellow, and his arms and legs are poseable as he has joints at his shoulders, elbows, hips and knees."

Lodestar and the other Ben 10 Ultimate Alien action figures retail for £6.00 each.

"Ellie enjoyed playing with him and he got to have a few rides on the scooter too.  According to Ellie, Lodestar thinks the scooter is brilliant."

And finally...

The Ben 10 inline scooter retails for £25, although Woolies are currently selling them for £23.

Louise felt both the scooter and Lodestar Ultimate Alien action figure were definitely good value for money and she'd particularly recommend the scooter to anyone who was thinking about getting one.

Ben 10 & Ben 10 Alien Force Tents @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 February, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Ben 10 & Ben 10 Alien Force Tents @ Argos Argos have some good deals on Ben 10 and Ben 10 Alien Force Tents at the moment - there are three for your little alien hunter to choose from.

Ben Tennyson, pah! That alien hunting, bug busting dude single-handedly cost me an absolute fortune in 2010 and looking at these tempting tent deals, it looks like 2011 could go the same way (please let my youngest move on from Ben 10 SOON!).

Kids love playing, and hiding, in tents - the Ben 10 Alien Force pop-up play tent is an awesome little tent for doing just that.

Lightweight, easy to store and easy to just pop -up as and when required and fold away again just as fast, the pop-up tent is great for indoor tenting and ideal for little ones who like to play with things for a little bit but will move on to something else within 10 minutes.

The Ben 10 Igloo tent is bigger, will take a few minutes to put together and is fab for indoor and dry outdoor tenting activities.

The Ben 10 2-man outdoor tent is what it says - a tent for 2 men (I'm guessing pretty small men!) to camp outdoors with.

Ben 10 Alien Force Scooter PLUS! Hidden Extras £20.00 @ Littlewoods

Ben 10 Alien Force Scooter PLUS! Hidden Extras £20.00 @ Littlewoods

A Ben 10 fan in the house? How much do you think he would love the Alien Force Scooter? And how much would you love saving £29.00 on it? That's right – the Ben 10 Alien Force Scooter is just £20.00 at Littlewoods.

Last week I made a super loser comment to my eight year old nephew saying something about his cool Ben 10 shirt. I was scornfully reproached and given a swathing lesson in Ben 10 chronology. All I can really tell you about it, is that there was a bad guy, and then some years passed and something happened, but what I do know is that it's not wise to confuse the two!

So this may sound a little like an infomercial, but here it is: If you buy this Ben 10 Alien Force Scooter, you receive a fab hidden bonus! The Ben 10 scooter has a secret pull-out compartment (see the drawer in the footrest in the picture? That's it. Shhhhh!).

The secret pull-out compartment is filled with eight authentic Ben 10 alien figures.

This very sneaky-smart way of getting exercise out of your child aged five and over, has a colour printed footplate, and folds easily for storage. It also has a rear footbrake and an adjustable handlebar height of 74cm – 84cm.

Ben 10 Alien Force Book Collection £9.99 @ Red House

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 December, 2010 at 8:00 am

Ben 10 Alien Force Book Collection £9.99 @ Red HouseIf you have a Ben 10 fan to buy for this Christmas, then this Ben 10 Alien Force Book Collection could be just what you're looking for.

A little while ago I read my youngest a bedtime Ben 10 Alien Force story on an iPad (don’t ask), and whilst it was all amazing and had little video clips interspersed, it still wasn’t QUITE the same as being able to turn actual paper pages.

I’m just not destined to be a Kindle or iPad fan when it comes to reading. Yes, I know electronic books are great for trees and when you travel, it means you can fit a hundred million books in your hand luggage, but…it’s still not the same.

Not only that, I think it’s good for kids to immerse themselves in a good book with paper pages that you actually have to turn yourself (perish the thought!) -  something which doesn’t have a screen, doesn’t make any sounds and doesn’t require batteries or a USB lead and a computer to charge it.

This Ben 10 Alien Force book collection contains 10 books – 10 Ben 10 books (I just wanted to say it) – which are based on the episodes of the Alien Force series.

The rrp for this Ben 10 Alien Force book collection is £39.99, Red House are letting them go for £9.99 and if this is all you order then you'll pay a single item delivery charge of £1.95; if you spend over £15 delivery is free.

Happy reading books with paper pages!

Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 November, 2010 at 9:00 am

Ben 10 Ultimate OmnitrixBack in the spring I had to ask Lynley what Ben 10 was all about; thanks to her, and my youngest's newly-discovered passion for the young superhero, I can now tell you all about Ben 10 and things like this Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix!

Omni-what?

Omnitrix - Ben Tennyson is a young boy (teenager now in the latest Ultimate Alien series, he was much younger in the first series...oh yes, there's been more than one!)  and he's an alien hunter.

He found the Omnitrix one day and it allows him to transform into various different aliens himself, so he can defeat the bad guys..."HUMUNGOSAUR!!!"

I've seen the Ben 10 movie, the Sky box is set to Ben 10 series record and I have a four-year-old who'd love his very own Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix, and at £8.99 rather than £17.99 I'd love to buy it for him...if he didn't already have one!

There's nothing worse than buying something and then finding it cheaper *sigh*

It features lights, sounds and mimics the Omnitrix's holographic images by attaching the mini transucent figure, which comes with it, to the base, unlocking the alien's special image and sound!

It requires an LR44 watch battery (that's included too) and you can reserve your Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix to collect in-store, saving yourself £4.95 delivery; marvellous!

Ben 10 In-Line Scooter £11.49 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 November, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Ben 10 In-Line Scooter £11.49 @ ArgosThe BEN 10 Alien Force In-Line Scooter is on sale at Argos at £11.49, half it's original £22.99.

I love these little manual scooters for three reasons:

  1. They keep children busy

  2. They keep children warm

  3. They make children tired

One of the worst things about winter is the cooped up, indoor, cabin fever feeling the whole family can sometimes succumb to. We get scratchy and irritable and really just need to let off a little steam.

Enter BEN 10 Alien Force In-Line Scooter.

With coloured printed grip tape, adjustable handlebar height and a rear foot brake, this authentic steel and plastic scooter is suitable for ages five and over, and up to 50kg. Ready to use its dimensions are (H)78, (W)33, (D)67cm and it folds up easily for storage, going down to (H)23, (W)12, (D)60cm.

Reviews from those who've bought it are also overwhelmingly positive, with everyone loving it, for ages 5 – 7 especially, so at £11.49, it sounds like a great toy to get the little ones active and using up some excess energy!

Ben 10 Headphones £4.93 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 9 October, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Ben 10 Headphones £4.93 @ PlayBeing the recipient of this Ben 10 headphones offer will keep any little Ben 10 fan happy. Parents will be pretty chuffed too as they should retail for £14.99 but Play are letting them go for £4.93.

Have you seen the posters?

Have you watched the adverts?

Have you heard the excited whispers of "10, 10, 10!" when you're out and about?

Are you as bemused as me?

If you are then you are obviously not a rabid Ben 10 fan!  The nation's children (and most of their parents I might add) are beyond themselves with excitement, as tomorrow the date is 10 - 10 - 10 and will see the beginning of the third Ben 10 season: Ben 10 - Ultimate Alien!

Wait, wait - it gets 'better'!

For those with access to the Cartoon Network there's going to be a BIG build  up with a 'Ben 10 marathon' - with back-to-back Ben 10 episodes being shown and culminating in the premiere of two, yes TWO,  of the new Ben 10: Ultimate Alien episodes...calm yourselves now!

My youngest is beyond himself with excitement and anything Ben 10 is a sure fire way to his heart at the moment.

Here's what the official blurb over at Play says about these Ben 10 headphones:

  • Versatile and child friendly, stereo headphones
  • Awesome Ben 10 design
  • Enjoy Ben 10 media across a range of formats:
  • Perfect for DVD car entertainment systems, iPod, iPhone, MP3 players, laptops, PCs (inc Apple) and portable gaming systems.
  • Adjustable headband that's sure to fit even the littlest heads
  • Soft and comfortable for delicate ears

Marvellous! There are no delivery charges to pay either, which is even better; we do like free delivery here at PlayPennies.

Ben 10 Beach Towel £5 @ Marks and Spencer

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 October, 2010 at 11:00 am

Ben 10 Beach Towel £5 @ Marks and Spencer

Yes I know we're not going to get any more beach weather until next summer, but this Ben 10 beach towel will be a big hit with any little (or grown up) Ben 10 fan!

Do I need to tell you anything about Ben 10?

It seems I'm in such a small minority of people who really don't know much about it!

Everyone keeps telling me to hook up to the Cartoon Network and watch Ben 10: Alien Force...apparently this is different from the normal Ben 10 *shrugs shoulders*

I'm resisting; I've  managed to get along ok in life, so far, without Ben 10 in it and I reckon that will carry on if I don't become assimilated!

All I know is my youngest is a HUGE fan and, in his opinion, his life would be SO much better if he had this Ben 10 beach towel.

I can hear him now, "It's not just for the beach mum! I could use it for swimming or when I get out of the bath...or...to dry my hands!"

This, now, much coveted Ben 10 towel was £9.50 but has been reduced to £5; it measures 137cms x 70cms, is made from 100% cotton and is machine washable (are there any towels that aren't?) and can be thrown in the tumble dryer too.

Kids Freebie: Ben 10 Magazine (With Today's Sunday Mirror)

by Sarah Macdonald in Freebies on 3 October, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Kids Freebie: Ben 10 Magazine (With Today's Sunday Mirror)

If you can bring yourself to buy the wonderfully informative example of journalistic literature that is The Sunday Mirror today, then you'll bag your child a free copy of a Ben 10 magazine.

My youngest is a huge Ben 10 fan and his fantatisism seems to have appeared out of nowhere!  Where did he suddenly acquire all of his Ben 10 knowledge from?

Not only that, it turns out the Teenagers know the ins and outs of Ben 10 too - surely 15 and 16 year olds aren't discussing the merits of the latest epsiode of the alien-fighting boy superhero are they?

It beats me, but I have been going on a steep learning curve lately and can now, just about, identify Swampfire and Humongosaur! GO ME!

Kids magazines are expensive at between £3 and £4 a go, so I thought you might appreciate this deal - even though it means you're going to have to physically leave the house and buy a newspaper for 70p ish to get it.

Better still, get someone else to nab you a copy when THEY go out - then they can face the shame of buying the Sunday Mirror.

Failing that - nip past Tescos, or somewhere, first,  grab a cheap Halloween disguise and put it in - then no one will know it's you clutching your copy of a red top 'news'paper complete with Ben 10 magazine!

Ben 10 Alien Force 10 Figure Set £24.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 September, 2010 at 9:00 am

Ben 10 Alien Force 10 Figure Set £24.99 @ Toys R Us

Toys R Us have got a great offer on this Ben 10 Alien Force 10 figure set for all you Ben 10 bargain hunters!

A few short months ago Ben 10 was a mystery to me. In fact, Lynley had to go through a very quick Ben 10 101 with me and I was amazed - it was like a whole other world! I am now a little more educated in the ways of the boy alien hunter.

Which is a good thing too as my youngest has recently become a very BIG small Ben 10 fan, and all of the paraphenalia that goes with kids characters soon makes a hefty dent in your bank balance.

This Ben 10 Alien Force 10 figure set comes with, erm...10 figures (genius!) and all together they should be setting you back a penny under 50 quid, so to pick up the lot for £24.99 is a bit of a bargain!

They include all the usual suspects and favourites - Ben (obviously), Big Chill, Spidermonkey and Heatblast et al - and they all measure about 10cms in height.

I have no idea whether this offer is up for grabs in store; if it's not then standard delivery from Toys R Us is £4.95.

Ben 10 Complete Box Set £16.85 @ Zavvi.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 31 May, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Ben 10 Complete Box Set £16.85 @ Zavvi.comA super(hero) deal for all Ben 10 fans, young and old alike!

I'd seen lots of Ben 10 stuff in the shops and being mentioned a lot over at HUKD but I never really paid much attention to what he was all about, until I did some research before I wrote a Ben 10 deal a couple of weeks ago.

Now I'm fully clued-up in all matters Ben 10, his battles against aliens and have discovered he has a large army of grown-up fans as well as those from his target audience!  Who'd have known...

I took things one step further today and watched a couple of trailers and whilst I'm not sure I'll be joining the legions of fans any time soon, I can see why it appeals to kids.

Ben 10 Complete Box Set £16.85 @ Zavvi.comBox sets always make great presents but they can be a bit pricey, however, the price of this Ben 10 complete series box set is an absolute gift - Zavvi are giving it away for £16.85 (with delivery thrown in too) instead of the usual £49.99.

So that's all 52 episodes for £16.85 and one VERY happy Ben 10 fan.

Happy alien-bashing!

Ben 10 Duvet Set £6.89 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 24 May, 2010 at 9:00 am

Ben 10 Duvet Set £6.89 @ AmazonCalling all Ben 10 fans!

A new PlayPennies week kicks off with a fabo deal on a single Ben 10 duvet set - I was going to laugh and say that of COURSE it's a single duvet cover, but with the number of grown-up Ben 10 fans I'm discovering I wondering how long it's going to be before there's a double and king option!

So what can I tell you about this duvet set....?  Erm, it comes with a single duvet cover and a pillowcase a-n-d you put them on your child's bed!  Ok, ok I'll be more useful - it's made from 50% polyester and 50% cotton, it's machine washable at 40C (does anyone really wash at 40C anymore....?) and can also be bunged in the tumble dryer when the weather isn't as AWESOME as it is just now!

If you've got a Ben10 fan then they'll be over the moon to have this on their bed - I often found that bedding like this made getting young kids in to bed just that little bit easier, there's nothing quite like hopping in to bed as a kid with a COOL duvet cover featuring your favourite character of the moment.
