3rd And Bird Single Duvet Set £4.99 @ Play

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 22 August, 2011 at 6:00 pm

3rd And Bird Single Duvet Set £4.99 @ Play

This 3rd and Bird single duvet cover is down from £14.99 to only £4.99 at Play.com, a lovely saving of £10 which is over half the original price. It is also rather pretty, which I didn’t expect at all, and looks stunning in the pic.

I am so not a fan of the show Third and Bird. Their blasted singing and icky sweet dialogue make me want to gouge my ears and eyes out. Still, there are many kids out there who love the show and who will equally love this adorable little single duvet set.

The single duvet cover is 140x200cm and the pillowcase is 48x74cm and both are made from 100% polyester. The set is machine washable at 40 degrees (although 30 degrees is better for the environment) and can be tumble dried too.

I think that this set is surprisingly pretty, that almost peachy pink with the flowers of green is quite lovely and would suit most little girl bedrooms.

Amazing Launch Deals For Wall Stickers @ Stickerzone

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 18 August, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Amazing Launch Deals For Wall Stickers @ Stickerzone

Last year I reviewed some amazing Gruffalo wall stickers that have graced my daughter’s bedroom walls ever since. I have utterly fallen in love with the idea and, now that those ones are dying, am quite keen to replace them. So, imagine my delight when I uncovered a new site that has just launched and that is selling wall stickers at silly prices for their opening month.

There are quite a few different types of wall sticker on sale at the moment and their usual price is around £11.99 but now they are only £4.99 – a rather enormous saving! You also have to pay £1.99 postage and packaging but, and this is really good, the price doesn’t change no matter how large your order gets.

The stickers on sale at the moment include Winnie the Pooh and Friends, Disney Cars, Space Rocket and Planets, Circus, Big Owl and more. I am rather in love with the height chart wall stickers too actually. That’s a REALLY good idea because my wall chart keeps falling down.

There are 14 pages of items on sale so go and take a look and see if there is something scrummy to get for your child’s bedroom walls.

Waybuloo Lamp & Ceiling Shade £7.50 @ Tesco

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 17 August, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Waybuloo Lamp & Ceiling Shade £7.50 @ Tesco

This Waybuloo bedside lamp and ceiling shade set has been marked down from £20 to a very tasty £7.50. Less than half the original price, this set has been reduced several times in the Tesco sale so you are now able to nab it for almost nothing.

Personally I would not have paid £20 for a ceiling shade and a lamp but I have to say, that if I had a child of the right age, this set would be a brilliant buy for only £7.50. The lamp is safe for kids and comes with an energy saving bulb for longer lasting, and more cost effective, light.

The pattern is dead cute on the lampshade with all the Waybuloo characters sort of frolicking along the edges. The ceiling shade is branded heavily with the Waybuloo name and has various creatures from the show printed onto the fabric.

This would make a superb deal for anyone looking to spruce up their nursery or a lovely gift to give an expectant mum.

Closing Down Clearance Sale @ Baby Care Centres.co.uk

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 14 August, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Closing Down Clearance Sale @ Baby Care Centres.co.uk

Baby Care Centres.co.uk is currently having a closing down sale with stock sitting at the Everything Must Go stage. According to the site stock is flying off the shelves (although they all say that) so it is best to get in there and nab deals while they are still available.

The range of items crosses pretty much most of the well known brands in baby equipment and most of the things that any parent will need for their new baby. You will find Mamas & Papas stuff like borders, wall paper, footmuffs, sun canopies and toys = all of these reduced by up to 92% in some cases which is pretty darn good.

There is also a range of car seats to choose from including Britax and Maxi Cosi that have been reduced by up to 64% in some cases. Not all car seats have been put on sale at such low prices, though, so do check that you aren’t paying more than you could elsewhere.

Other items include prams and pushchairs, carrycots, high chairs, feeding bottles, gifts and nursery furniture.

Quilted Mattress Protector Cot/Cot Bed £1.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 14 August, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Quilted Mattress Protector Cot/Cot Bed £1.99 @ Argos

Argos has marked this quilted mattress protector down from £7.49 to only £1.99 which is absolutely brilliantly cheap. This is a really good discount of well over half the original price on a product that is more than a little necessary when it comes to little kids.

The quilted mattress protector is ideal for both cots and cot beds with a measurement of 120x60cm in size. It is white and very easy to clean and comes with the usual anti-allergy extras that the little ones need for their health.

The cover is made from 100% cotton with a polyester filling, and it is machine washable at 60C. This is a great accessory for any parent and will help keep baby’s mattress clean and dry and them all healthy and happy.

It will also keep your mattress happy. I didn’t get one of these for my first cot bed mattress and it was soon stained and yucky. I have now invested in these as a matter of course.

Tutti Bambini Barcelona White Cot Bed £131.75 @ Tesco

Tesco is holding a Summer Madness sale with lots of deals going down and one of these is this rather lovely cot bed for only £169. Don’t worry, there is a way of reducing the price even further with the lovely voucher code below so you pay £131.75 including delivery charges.

To get a further 25% off the listed price on the website you can use the code TD-HGNM when you get to the checkout. This will lower the price to £127 and then, with the £5 delivery, the price goes up to the one you see here. Not bad for a bed that usually costs in the region of £200!

The bed is made from high quality solid pinewood and includes durable teething rails on both sides. The bed has a three-position height adjustable mattress base to allow easy access to baby as they grow and even has a one-handed mechanism to drop the sides.

Oh, and it can be converted into a bed which will last them until they are about six.

Johnson & Johnson Wipes And Toiletries 50% Off @ Sainsburys

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 6 August, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Johnson & Johnson Wipes And Toiletries 50% Off @ SainsburysThere's a sale on Johnson & Johnson wipes and toiletries at Sainsbury's right now. Everything is half price, meaning you can get a 4 pack of 64 fragrance free baby wipes for £2.49 instead of £4.98. Or a 300ml bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo for 96p.

The offer finishes on the 9th of August, so now is a good time to get in some supplies. Handy for bulk buying if you want to stock up for the year. Plus items like the shampoo, baby lotion and talcum powder make for great baby baskets if you're looking to put together your own gifts.

I got a few of these when I had my son, and it was great. I didn't have to buy a thing until he was about four years old! Came as a bit of a shock to realise I had to buy my own baby shampoo.

There's also Johnson's nappy rash cream, bedtime oil, and soothing bath oils too. All of which are nice to tuck into the gift basket, or store in the baby supplies cupboard.

Lollipop Lane Luxury Fleece With Teddy £3.25 @ Tesco

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 6 August, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Lollipop Lane Luxury Fleece With Teddy £3.25 @ TescoIs there anything as snuggly as a lovely fleece? This Lollipop Lane Luxury Fleece with Teddy comes in a gorgeous cream colour, and has been reduced down to £3.25 by Tesco Direct. If you can collect from a store then delivery is free.

We used sleeping bags for my son when he was a baby, but we were given a few really gorgeous fleece blankets. These have become bed covers as he got older, and now they make a perfect substitute for a duvet when the weather gets warmer. For this reason they make a great gift.

This particular Lollipop Lane cream luxury fleece is embroidered with the very cute Cappuccino Bear. It is a polyester fleece, and just about the right sort of size for  prams and strollers. So you can tuck them in all snug and cuddley when the weather gets cold too.

Parents will be pleased to know that it is both machine washable, and can also be tumble dried.

Disney Toy Story Toddler Bed £66 @ Tesco Direct

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 2 August, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Disney Toy Story Toddler Bed £66 @ Tesco Direct

The Disney Toy Story Toddler bed has been reduced from £110 to £66 at Tesco Direct. This deal really amuses me because it feels like this particular bed is on sale somewhere every single month. It’s like the never ending sale bed of doom!

The Disney Toy Story toddler bed is a classic that’s perfect for the transition from cot to bed. This type of bed is pretty much a waste of time in my opinion as you can literally move your tot into a single bed just as easily. However, for those of you who like the idea of a transition bed, this is a great deal.

There are fun prints of Buzz and his friends on the head and foot boards and the protective side panels will stop night time tumbles, giving you some peace of mind. It is made from MDF and it is easily cleaned with a damp cloth.

Argos Promotion Voucher: 15% Off All Beds And Mattresses

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 July, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Argos Promotion Voucher: 15% Off All Beds And MattressesYou have until the end of tomorrow - THIS FRIDAY (29 July) - to take advantage of an extra 15% off all beds and mattresses at Argos; that's on top of any of their existing discounts.

Click HERE to take advantage of the Argos beds and mattresses promotion voucher

  • Discount: 15%
  • Applies to: all beds and mattresses
  • Promotional code: HOME15
  • Expires: 29 July 2011

Beds and mattresses are expensive to buy so any discount on them is well worth taking advantage of.

I've tested this Argos promotion voucher to within an inch of it's life and it does work on anything bed and mattress related.

It's going to be useful if you're looking to make a big purchase because you can only use the promotion voucher code for purchases made online which are subsequently delivered; you can't use it for things you want to reserve and then collect in-store.

It doesn't offer you much of a saving on the cheaper items, such as inflatable mattresses or kids' ready beds, because the £5.95 delivery charge wipes out all the saving you made with the discount; large items that require two delivery people have a charge of £8.95.

But if you're buying a big bed frame and mattress for YOU, or a big feature bed that comes complete with desk area and in-built storage for your child(ren) then it's going to be worth using.

To use the Argos bed and mattresses promotion voucher, simply choose the items you want, add them to your basket, checkout and you'll then be prompted to enter, and apply, the promotion code: HOME15.

Don't forget, you've not got long to use this one as it expires by close of play tomorrow.

Beanstalk Children's Height Chart £2.99 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 23 July, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Beanstalk Children's Height Chart £2.99 @ ArgosIt is rather lovely to keep a track of how much your child is growing over the years. This is a lovely way to do it. The rather sweet Beanstalk Children's Height Chart is less than half price at Argos right now. It is £2.99, marked down from £12.99. That's a £10 reduction. There were plenty in stock for delivery as well, but you may want to save on charges and collect in store for free.

The chart measures from 50cm to 130cm and has images of a cloud, cow, sun and snail and a separate toy butterfly as you progress up the chart. The site says that colours and styles may vary though. It is suitable for ages 12 months and over.

The reviews do contradict each other a bit. Some criticise it was not being as  nice as the online photo. With one reviewer saying the fabric and finish were rather naster. However this is followed by another customer who thought that it looked far better than on the image on screen.

But lets face it. For £2.99 can you really go wrong? It is worth taking a bit of a punt on. And if the colour you get doesn't suit your decor, then it would also make a lovely gift.

Agent Oso Pyjamas £4.49 @ The Disney Store

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 15 July, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Agent Oso Pyjamas £4.49 @ The Disney Store

The Agent Oso pyjamas from Disney are currently on sale at the Disney Store for only £4.49. They used to sell for £15 so you’re saving a lovely 70% off the original price and you have the option to pay a little bit extra to get it personalised if you wish.

Your mission to get the little ones ready for bed will be far easier to accomplish if you own the Agent Oso pyjamas. Well, that’s what Disney suggest anyway. I am not sure the person writing the blurb actually has kids because while I am sure they will get INTO their PJs, getting them to go to sleep is another matter entirely.

The top features a character transfer print of Agent Oso and Special Agent Wolfie training for their next adventure and Disney also allow you to select personalisation options when you add the item to your basket. There are only two sizes left in stock 12-18 months and 18-24 months so if you want these you better hurry!

My Toy Shelf Quilt & Bumper Set £15 @ M&S

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 15 July, 2011 at 3:00 pm

My Toy Shelf Quilt & Bumper Set £15 @ M&S

The My Toy Shelf quilt and bumper set has been marked down from £49.50 to £15 at the M&S clearance sale. That’s a really nice saving off the usual retail price and if I was one of those who bought it for full price I’d be gnashing my teeth.

This two part set consists of a quilt that’s 120x100cm in size and a bumper that’s 146x40cm in size. It has the My Toy Shelf motif from M&S which is really cute little bunnies and bears and ducks sitting on, well, a shelf. The colours are very neutral with brown and cream and light purple and green.

The set is machine washable and tumble drier safe and is made from 100% cotton. It looks utterly adorable and would make a stunning present for someone expecting a baby, or as that final touch to round off your nursery.

Massive KICO Felix The Cat Desk Light £13.50 @ Amazon

Massive KICO Felix The Cat Desk Light £13.50 @ Amazon

The utterly adorable KICO Felix the Cat desk light has been marked down from £29.38 to £13.50 on Amazon. You are saving £15.88 off the original price and you get free delivery included in the price.

If you don’t like the cat, they also have the Waldo the Dog light for sale at the same price. The cat is pink and the dog is blue and they are both truly cool for sprucing up that old workdesk of yours. I know that my work area is looking so tatty at the moment it is driving me mad. This could make all the difference!

Although, according to the product description this is for 0-12 year olds. Oh boo. I am waaay too old for this! The lamp is cool to the touch so tots won’t burn their hands and his head is adjustable. Brilliant as a night light, child’s desk light or to unleash your inner child at work.

20% Off Everything When You Spend £50 @ The Great Little Trading Company

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 24 June, 2011 at 10:00 am

20% Off Everything When You Spend £50 @ The Great Little Trading CompanyThe Great Little Trading Company has relaunched. It is now doing free delivery, and returns. Also, for Friday only, it is 20% off everything when you spend £50 or more. On Saturday this drops to 18%, and then 15% on Sunday and Monday.

I have bought a few items from here over the years. They do really lovely, nicely designed and built furnishings for children's rooms as well as accessories. The site also sells toys and games.

One of my favourites is this Sling Bookcase. It costs £55, but looks simply beautiful. And is practical as well, perfect for displaying all the large books they get at the pre-school age. I didn't have one, but my best mate did. These books don't sit particularly well on an ordinary book case - you find that the kids pull them all out in order to just find one. Here they sit flat so they can just slide them along to see one underneath, and the bookcase sits flush against the wall.

I also really like the play and store table that they sell on the site. I never brought it as I thought that at £195 it was a bit expensive. If I'd known how much children love to spread their toys out on a table, and how they don't really grow out of that, I'd have invested in something more substantial than the little table we got from Ikea. Also, from the parent's perspective, it means they can leave all their creations and games out ready to pick up later, but you can still clean the floor!

There are lots of other stylish storage solutions on the site, and I had better warn you, it is easy to spend hours browsing!

70% Off Pink Girl’s Wardrobe £7.49 @ Sainsburys

Check out this ridiculously low price on a wardrobe! Down from £24.99 this wardrobe is now going to cost you less than a tenner if you arrange to collect it instore. Only £7.49 for a cute little wardrobe with lots of extra storage space that little girls will love.

The wardrobe is an attractive and easily assembled little chap with a free standing design. It is ideal for the bedroom or dressing room and is made from pink non-woven fabric and mild steel. The frame is tough and strong, making the entire wardrobe both attractive and stable.

The unit includes a rail for hanging clothes and has a roll-down front cover. There is a modicum of self assembly required but it doesn’t look too hard. This chap should fit nicely in a corner and the fabric is apparently very easy to clean.

The wardrobe sits at 139x90cm and weighs about 2.5kgs. It’s cute and helpful and great for those of you in need of bedroom storage.

Gorgeous Joker Bathrobe Review

by Tamsin Oxford in Reviews on 11 June, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Gorgeous Joker Bathrobe Review

Find me a Gift have really delivered some amazing things to my door over the past few years, from customised labels to weird sparkly charms to shining bath creations. This time they sent me a simply awesome Father’s Day present – A Joker bathrobe for the inner maniac of your little Batman (I mean, husband).

You’d think that a bathrobe designed in the effervescent purple and green of the Joker’s colours would be a hideous exercise in eye-clenching drama. Well, you’d be wrong. While I definitely have  a bizarre sense of colour appreciation (pink and red, for me, have always worked) this bathrobe did not shock and dismay as I had expected it to.

When I first unfurled the Joker bathrobe I was first taken aback by the colours and how, when placed on my husband, they worked with his skin tone. Perhaps you need to ensure that your partner, or whoever you are buying Father’s Day gifts for, works well with Royal purple and green.

The second thing that got my attention was the texture. This bathrobe is Oh My Goodness I Want To Stroke You soft. So very, very, very soft. My husband has been wearing the same bathrobe for years. I don’t mind this, it is a part of who he is, but it was still nice to see that he was prepared to give the Joker a try the next morning.

And the next. And the next. And now the Joker bathrobe from Find me a Gift is the only bathrobe he will wear. I think it is the fact that it is utterly soft, dreamily soft. And so far that soft hasn’t washed out in the laundry, like such fabrics often do. And there are some nice, big pockets on there too.

Retailing for £39.99, this is not a cheap gift, but it is also a very nice one. If you don’t like the Joker, then why not nab Yoda or Obi Wan Kenobi?

The Star Master Cosmic Light Projector £13.99 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 7 June, 2011 at 3:00 pm

The Star Master Cosmic Light Projector £13.99 @ Amazon

The Star Master cosmic light projector has been marked down from £24.99 to £13.99 on Amazon – a saving of 44% and £11. It is a pretty cool gizmo that has been designed to calm nerves and soothe humans into sleep.

I am particularly amused by the title of the product on Amazon. They have called it “The fantastic Star Master bedroom cosmic light projector” – how’s that for a moniker? This gizmo allows you to fall asleep under the “stars” as it projects images of the solar system onto the walls and roof.

I have to admit that I really love stuff like this. The Star Master uses projector techniques to show you the entire universe in red, green, blue and clear sequences. You can choose the dominant colour I think, and then relax and enjoy as the star images are reflected around your room. They have programmed approximately 10 thousand stars too!

The Star Master needs a mains supply for power and the adaptor is included for ease of use.

Safe Dreams Cot Wrap Review

by Lynley Oram in Reviews on 7 June, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Safe Dreams Cot Wrap ReviewThe Safe Dreams Cot Wrap makes a lovely, decorative addition to your baby's cot, but it also has a practical side too. And that's what I was very interested in when I first read about it.

There's nothing lovelier or sweeter than a sleeping baby. Especially if it has just taken you the better part of an hour (or three) to get them that way. I remember going to enormous lengths to make sure that my son stayed asleep as well. During a period of time where he was being a really light sleeper, I sat downstairs watching TV with the subtitles on and the volume on mute.

So I could relate to PlayPennies mum Emily. She volunteered to test and review the Safe Dreams Cot Wrap (£24.99 for the two sided version and £29.99 for the four sided).

Her one year old baby daughter has started to become a really active sleeper. She found that quite often her daughter was being woken up because she'd trapped an arm or leg in the bars of the cot.

"At the time, I was using a cot bumper which my sister gave me, but it only really was for the head of the cot, and extended a little bit down the sides. Seeing how active my baby was getting, I thought I really needed something that went the whole way round the cot."

What Emily wanted was something to prevent these accidents, and to make baby more comfortable during the night, giving her (and therefore mum) a better night's sleep.

Safe Dreams Cot Wrap ReviewThe Cot Wrap uses what Safe Dreams calls Softbreathe fabric with an inner surface that's 100% cotton. This is, according to the site, easy to breathe through.

It doesn't use ties or strings to attach to the cot, but is secured with Velcro. Emily's first impression was good. "When I took it out of the packaging, I immediately noticed that the Safedreams cot bumper was made from a really soft padded fabric, and felt good to touch."

Getting it set up wasn't as straightforward as you might think. "I read the instructions that came with the cot bumper, and I'll admit I was a little confused as to exactly which bars I should feed the fabric through. But I jumped in, started threading it through the cot bars, and gave it a try."

However, Emily got half way round the cot and realised that she had done it slightly wrong,  as nothing was left to cover the head of the bed. "But it only took a few seconds to unthread the Safedreams cot bumper, and start againThe velcro was easy to attach, and it was simple to position the cot bumper where I wanted it."

Although the Cot Wrap seems fairly straightforward to use, it is always nice to see a product in action. There's a video on the front page of the website that you can watch.

Emily has been using the Safe Dreams Cot Wrap for some months now. She often finds her daughter with her head against the sides or ends of the cot. "If the cot bumper wasn't there, she'd probably be waking up with dents in her face from sleeping against the bars. I'd highly recommend the Safe Dreams cot bumper for those of you with active babies."

And Finally ...

You can buy the Safe Dreams Cot Wrap from their website, Delivery costs £3.49. There is also a list of stockists on the website, although there's a note to say that pink and blue products sold by stockists aren't the new Safebreathe ones. If you do buy from instore it might be worth checking that.

The Cot Wrap is suitable for cots and for cot beds. It comes in three colours, ivory, pink and blue. Parents will be happy to know that it can be machine washed. The website also describes it as quick drying - presumably the breathable fabric helps there.
