Star Trek Duvet Set Single £4.60 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 18 January, 2010 at 10:00 am

Star Trek Duvet Set Single £4.60 @ AmazonI am a Trekkie, or Trekker as apparently we are now known, and so this duvet set immediately made me drool. If only it was available in adult sizes! Although my husband will probably move out if I make him sleep in a bed covered with Spock and Kirk faces. Marked down from £14.99 to only £4.60 with free delivery, this is a bargain from Amazon.

This duvet set is done in the old Star Trek style and features the faces of the Original crew. The original Enterprise 1701-D zooms across the blue fabric beside the faces of Spock, Captain Kirk, Uhuru and Mcoy. Its pure genius and definitely a must for the Trekkie (or Trekker).

Even if you haven’t subjected your child to the joys of Tribbles and other such Trektastic tales, you can get the set for yourself. It may cheer you up when you stagger into their bedroom at 5am with that screamed for cup of watStar Trek Duvet Set Single £4.60 @ Amazoner.

Perhaps you can collapse back into bed and dream of that holodeck adventure by the beach.

The Gruffalo £2.96 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 16 January, 2010 at 4:00 pm

The Gruffalo £2.96 @ AmazonUnless you’ve been living in a jungle somewhere, or perhaps are only just embarking on the journey that is parenthood, you’ve probably heard of Julia Donaldson’s classic book. The Gruffalo has become as famous as other children’s classics as Bear Hunt and Winnie the Pooh. Now you can snare your very own copy for only £2.96 from Amazon.

The Gruffalo is an endearing tale of smarts and sass told by a wily mouse as he explores the jungle alone. He encounters all sorts of hungry beasts but manages to foil them all with wit and daring. As a parent you’ll giggle and your children will love it. The Gruffalo £2.96 @ Amazon

Unfortunately I am on reading number 22775689913.2 so the Gruffalo is now a part of my vocabulary and I often dream about it but at least I can say it doesn’t rankle after so many readings, as some of the other books do.
Vastly entertaining and worth having in your collection, the Gruffalo is a stunner. You can also get it delivered for free when you buy it through Amazon so what are you waiting for?

70% Off DIY Sale @ Focus

Being a parent isn’t all about silky soft clothes and bottles and games, it’s also about getting the house ready or, quite possibly, repairing it as they leave a trail of destruction. If you need new home decor or have to fix a cupboard or two then the 70 percent sale at Focus is going to make you very, very happy.

For the kitchen there is 70 percent off selected goods plus an extra 10 percent in some cases. I’m not sure why but the site says so. Units have been marked down from £1766 to only £635.76 or £1020 to £275. It’s an impressive drop in price. While not all the units are 70 percent down, the markings are quite clear as to what reduction you are getting.

Bathroom suites, home delivered, are down by 70 percent too but the savings are not very clear on the site in this section. Ensure that you are choosing the right units at a discount if you browse through here as nothing is very well marked. 70% Off DIY Sale @ Focus

Fetch The Engine Moses Basket £21.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 7 January, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Fetch The Engine Moses Basket £21.99 @ ArgosIf you’re expecting a little bundle of joy any time soon then this may well be the finishing touch you need in your preparations. This would obviously be for those parents that decided to know the sex of their baby before the birth as this is very much for boys. You say £8 on this Argos deal for a lovely Moses basket.

I love the name Moses basket. Not that I’d test mine and send my child off down the river in it of course! So, these handy things are the best start for baby and you as you can keep your newborn close by for up to six months. Fetch The Engine Moses Basket £21.99 @ Argos

This one includes a mattress, quilt, removable lining and adjustable hoot with a 4tog quilt rating. All the fabrics are machine washable and it is suitable from birth to nine kilos. I am really impressed with this deal as I spent far more on mine and it was second hand and I still had to get a mattress. Definitely worth a look for the expectant parent.

Kidspace Cool cabin bed 67% off £79 @ Littlewoods

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 31 December, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Kidspace Cool cabin bed 67% off £79 @ LittlewoodsIf you’re looking to redecorate your kids rooms or add some new furniture then this deal may grab your attention. Littlewoods have marked down this cabin bed from £239.99 to £79.00, with a saving of £160.

The bed has to be assembled and comes in at 76.7cm high, 97.5cm wide and 196cm long. The mattresses are not included in the deal but there are some great special offers on mattresses right now so you could potentially get both for a good price.

Currently the only colour available is light walnut and the bed comes with drawers included. I’m going to be honest here, considering the reviews the product has had I’m thinking that it should have retailed at the current price not the £200 odd it originally sold for. Kidspace Cool cabin bed 67% off £79 @ Littlewoods

All the reviewers suggest that the bed is extremely heavy and difficult to assemble. I would advise starting out with the bed positioned against the wall right from the start so you don’t pull a muscle moving it into position when you’re done. Check out the reviews on the site before you buy.

Thomas The Tank Engine Stackable Storage Unit £8.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 30 December, 2009 at 10:00 am

Thomas The Tank Engine Stackable Storage Unit £8.99 @ ArgosIt’s time to tidy up with Thomas the Tank Engine! This uniquely designed unit will be loved by the kids and by you – who wouldn’t want something that could potentially inspire our offspring to tidy up by themselves? Marked down from £14.99 to £8.99 this unit is a winner from Argos.

The price includes only one unit and does require some self assembly. While I know this is somewhat off the topic I have to confess to crying with laughter at the addition on the Argos site – Self assembly: 1 person recommended. What happens if you introduce another one? Will the unit self destruct?

You’ll likely have to call and reserve these for yourself as stock is fairly limited but there are several different desigThomas The Tank Engine Stackable Storage Unit £8.99 @ Argosns to choose from.

Those of you who have Thomas fans in your home will know exactly which one they’ll want for storing their toys. If you get more than one you can stack them neatly in the room.

Personally I’m dithering between Thomas or Gordon. Gordon matches her room better...

The butterfly is 90cmx67cm, the football is 80cmx80cm, the heart is 85cmx75cm and the truck is 80cmx80cm. They aren’t enormous, just the perfect size to brighten up a bedroom or play room with a splash of fun colour.

The fact that these are made of wool and obvious care has gone into the design makes me very pleased to have discovered this deal. Paying only £4.99 for a quality rug is a complete bonus nowadays.Kid's Shaped Wool Rugs £4.99 @ Dunelm Mill

Ideal for presents, home design, fun and even (if you like toasty feet) as a bath rug! Although you’d get hairy feet from the shedding probably. Ok, don’t use it in the bathroom, just have fun deciding where you want to put it then.

Peppa George Pirate Panel Duvet Set £6.65 @ Amazon

Peppa George Pirate Panel Duvet Set £6.65 @ AmazonWe’ve had the adorable Hello Kitty deal from Argos and now it’s the boys' turn! Here we have the "Arr!" pirate duvet set from the popular Peppa Pig series at a mere £6.65.

This piratetastic single duvet cover with matching pillowcase has been marked down from £17.75 to a mere £6.65 and that includes free delivery! Woo! This is such a bargain you can snap it up as a present or just as another set for those days when you haven’t quite caught up with the laundry. Peppa George Pirate Panel Duvet Set £6.65 @ Amazon

Pirates also seem to be all the rage this year. My daughter came home from nursery last week brandishing a cutlass and an eyepatch. The latter was adorable until she walked into the table. So I’ve been putting up with being held for ransom and made to walk the plank for a couple of weeks now, she gave me a heart attack yelling “Arrr!” and jumping on me at 6am this morning.

So I think I’ll be investing in one of these for her too. Why not? It’s not like you can have too many duvet sets and these are certainly a stupendous price for a branded product.
