Kids Bedroom Furniture Set £54.99 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 28 July, 2011 at 9:00 am

Kids Bedroom Furniture Set £54.99 @ ArgosThe Kids Bedroom Furniture Set is a chest of drawers, a wardrobe and a bedside chest. Argos has reduced this from £179.98 to £54.99. It can't be reserved for store pickup but there's plenty in stock for home delivery.

As kids get older, there is nothing nicer than having co-ordinated furniture in their room. Maybe you appreciate it more than they do, but it is nice to have their bedroom looking a little more grown up. This set has been massively reduced, and is usable for a boys room or a girls, as it is in white. Or at least I assume it is going by the picture, as the colour isn't mentioned on the page.

Going by the comments from customers, I would suggest that you look at the measurements and see how this would fit in your room rather than using the picture on the website as a guide. Some found that the wardrobe in particular was smaller than they were expecting.

All three items are flat packed, so assembly is required. It comes with wooden handles. The chest has three drawers, and measures 55.7cm high, 59.6cm wide, and 34.4cm deep. It doesn't say what sort of capacity the bedside chest has. It looks like a small cupboard in the photo. This measures 37cm high, 35.5cm wide and 34.4cm deep. The wardrobe has a single door and measures 165.3cm high, 50.3cm wide and 50.9cm deep.

Cosatto 3 In 1 Arlo Cotbed £97.99 @ Argos Outlet

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 12 January, 2011 at 8:00 am

Cosatto 3 In 1 Arlo Cotbed £97.99 @ Argos OutletThis is a beautiful looking cot/bed isn't it? It will take your child from birth up to the age of 5. The Cosatto 3 In 1 Arlo Cotbed is £97.99 plus £3.99 delivery. There were 10 left in stock at the time of posting.

As gorgeous as this cot looks, at its normal price of more than £200 (it is £220 in Mothercare, and £240 at Tesco) I'd probably not buy one. At just over £100 delivered though, it seems to be pretty good value.

The cotbed is described on the website as "beautifully crafted with classic yet contemporary profiles." It is made from New Zealand pine and has a rich walnut finish. The cot turns into a bed and is suitable from birth to 5 years of age. In fact it has three modes - cot, junior, and sofa. So even when the child is too big for the bed, it could still form part of the bedroom furniture.

Features include safety teething rails, and two height positions for the mattress (although to be fair, what cot doesn't have these features?). The product description claims that it has an easy action one handed drop-side. You'll need to get a mattress - there isn't one included. The size of the required mattress is (L)140, (W)70cm. The overall size of the cotbed is (H)100, (W)76, (L)146.2cm.

Now the next bit might strike fear into your heart but, it is flat packed for home assembly. And, it recommends having two people to assemble the cot bed. An allen key is provided, presumably this is the only tool you need (it is the only one mentioned on the product description).

Tidy Books Kids Bedroom Furniture Online Voucher: 20% Off

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 7 January, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Tidy Books Kids Bedroom Furniture Online Voucher: 20% OffUse this online voucher code to get 20% off Tidy Books kids bedroom furniture. The retailer sells a very small, but very lovely selection of bookcases, tidy's, and accessories for keeping books in order in the bedroom.

Click here for 20% off Tidy Books kids bedroom furniture

  • Discount: 20%
  • Promotional code: SP20
  • Expires: Unknown

Although I couldn't find any information about when this code might expire, on the website it says "for a limited time only". So I would assume or guess that it will run out sometime at the end of the month.

To use the code, you need to go to checkout. You'll have to register with the site, and you enter the code in the relevant box on the same page that you register.

Next, you'll see it automatically applied to your bill. I tried it out on an absolutely lovely Tidy Books Box, with a natural lacquer finish.  I particularly liked it as it looked really good, and the play clock on the side can be removed. I'm thinking it would make a great accessory for magazines in the lounge when son has moved on to more paper backed sized books as he gets older. That is, if he doesn't draw all over it or put stickers everywhere! This sells for £69, which isn't bad for a nicely crafted piece of furniture. With the discount of 20%, this came down to 55.20. Delivery on the site is £6.95 for this item, so it worked out very well to a total of £62.10 including delivery.

Thomas The Tank Engine Bed £129.99 @ Smyths Toys

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 November, 2010 at 11:00 am

Thomas The Tank Engine Bed £129.99 @ Smyths ToysThis amazing Thomas the Tank Engine bed was £199.99 but has been reduced to £129.99 - it would make any Thomas the Tank Engine fan a very HAPPY Thomas the Tank Engine fan indeed.

If you're looking to upgrade your little Thomas fanatics's bed and theme their room, then this bed would definitely take centre stage!

I've often found that Christmas is a good time to do this as you can soften the price blow by asking family members to contribute towards it.

My youngest would have gone crazy for a Thomas the Tank Engine bed like this.

It has two pull-out storage drawers that are printed on the front to look like wheels, it has MDF panels which are printed to look like Thomas' various engine bodywork parts and it has a tubular steel frame.

As with most beds it doesn't come with a mattress - this is so you can choose the sort of mattress you'd like your child to sleep on, rather than be 'dictated' to by the manaufacturer.

It has a spring steel frame detachable fabric canopy that comes with a detachable battery operated night-light which has an easy push on/off button.

If you get this Thomas the Tank Engine bed for your little one, then you'll need to put your DIY hat on on Christmas Day to put it together - but let's face it, Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a bit of do it yourself!

There's no delivery to pay on this Thomas the Tank Engine bed; if you live near a Smyths Toys then you can collect it in store.

Toy Story Toddler Bed £97.99 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 2 November, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Toy Story Toddler Bed £97.99 @ Amazon

The toddler world seems to have been Toy Story crazy for some time now, for good reason. If you're parent, grandparent or vague blood relative – or not – of a Toy Story fan, this toddler bed from Amazon for £97.99, a £42.00 saving, is sure to put you at the top of the favourites list.

The three year old son of a good friend of mine is Buzz Lightyear obsessed. He has driven his mother to near distraction as he “infinity and beyond”'s himself down stairs, around corners and off of beds. His bedroom is full of Buzz Lightyear, his Buzz lunch box and Buzz drinks bottle go in his Buzz backpack – you get the picture. I won't be surprised if the next thing on his Buzz Lightyear list is this bed!

The main bed is made of a sturdy tubular steel and head and foot boards have great big Buzz Lightyear prints on them, while the side panels prevent any accidental falling out. The bed includes a detachable side table with a cup and book holder, as well as two zipped printed fabric under bed storage drawers.

Unfortunately the mattress, which will set you back a further £38.99, and bedding are not included, but Amazon do have great offers on some of these too, such as the Character World Toy Story 3 Duvet currently on offer for £8.50

Character Junior Beds @ PriceRightHome.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 September, 2010 at 9:00 am

Character Junior Beds @ PriceRightHome.comI'm really smitten with the various character junior beds that are on offer at pricerighthome.com.

There is something here for every young character fan!

There are others too that all vary in price and reduction.

The more I look at these the more of a 'Scrooge' parent I feel - none of my kids had character beds, they all had cot beds so went straight from those to full size singles.

But just look at these beds, they are so ACE!

I don't know any self-respecting little Cars fan who wouldn't love to leap into his (or hers) Cars character bed with Lightening McQueen to keep them company.

You see character beds can be very useful in enticing your little one into bed, if they've suddenly decided that bedtime isn't really for them.

Now, free delivery doesn't kick in until you spend more than £75.

So you can either buy just the bed and pay £4.95 or you can add a couple of other character things to match your child's new bed and tip yourself into the free delivery bracket.

PriceRightHome.com also accept PayPal too, for anyone who wants to pay that way.

Pink Racing Car Single Bed (Frame Only) £49.99 @ ARGOS

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 August, 2010 at 8:00 am

Pink Racing Car Single Bed (Frame Only) £49.99 @ ARGOSForget the old stereotype that cars are for boys! This pink racing car single bed frame is ideal for any little girl racer and having been reduced from £149 down to £49.99 it's ideal for your bank balance too.

I grew up with motorsport and I love nothing more than the sound of a roaring V8 engine, or the feeling of RAPID acceleration when you twist back the throttle of a motorbike.

I have never owned a Barbie in my life or pushed toy dolls around in prams or strollers (I didn't even like pushing my flesh and blood children in prams and strollers!), but give me a car, or a go-kart to push and I'm happy.

So let's have MORE of these racing things for girls - I can just about handle the pink, I appreciate we might need to take it slowly and remove one gender stereotype at a time.

It doesn't come with a mattress but beds rarely do - it's to give you choice you see (well that's what they say anyway) and you're going to need two pairs of hands to put it together.

The dimensions are: W 100cms x L 207cms x H 40cms and the clearance underneath is just 14.5cms, so not too much room for hiding things under there!

It's not available for collection in-store for obvious reasons and home delivery time is currently 10 days, so plenty of time to get the bedroom organised for when it arrives.

Folding Camp Bed £20 @ Asda Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 June, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Folding Camp Bed £20 @ Asda DirectThis is a rather nicely priced deal, I thought, and a very handy one at that!

This is a more elegant solution to occassional sleepovers or unexpected overnight guests, if you don't fancy spending a couple of hours blowing or pumping up an inflatable bed.

When you don't need it, it can be folded away and easily stored in a cupboard under the stairs or under a bed just ready and waiting to be opened out and called in to service to service when someone comes to stay.

They're also handy for taking camping if you don't want to lie on the ground and if you like that sort of thing; personally, I can't think of anything worse but then I don't like Marmite either and some people really love it!

Folding Camp Bed £20 @ Asda DirectNow, even though Asda direct have reduced this bed down from £40 to £20 they will charge you £4.95 for standard delivery even if you choose to collect it in store.

Delivery for collection instore is free for orders over £25 - so it might be worth seeing if there's anything else you need that will tip your order in to the free delivery bracket.

Somerset Cotbed Antique £69.99 @ Kiddicare

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 June, 2010 at 9:00 am

Somerset Cotbed Antique £69.99 @ KiddicareI HAVE THIS!

Well I did have it, my youngest will be four in a couple of weeks time (how has that time gone so fast?!) and this is the cot/cotbed that he had before he got a 'grown up' bed.

All of my kids have had cotbeds, which can be converted into a toddler bed, rather than just a cot.  The benefits from one as opposed to the other are 1)  a cotbed will save you money in the long run, you won't have to buy a cot, then a toddler bed and THEN a standard single bed because the cotbed is two-in-one and 2) making the transition from the cot to the cotbed is far less stressful for your child because their bed is the same but different.

The dimensions for this Somerset cotbed are as follows:

  • Height: 86 cm
  • Width: 72 cm
  • Length: 144 cm

You'll need to buy a mattress and the size you'll need is: 140 x 70cm - mattresses are very rarely included because there are so many different variations and it all comes down to personal preference.

The rrp for this Somerset Cotbed is £139.98 but Kiddicare have reduced it to £69.99 and, with delivery included in this price too, is a storming deal in my opinion - I certainly didn't buy it any cheaper four years ago.

Thomas Free Standing Storage and Shelves £36 @ Mail Order Express

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 12 May, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Thomas Free Standing Storage and Shelves £36 @ Mail Order Express"Peep peeeep! Time to tidy up now," said Thomas.

Ok, so Thomas doesn't really say that but my four-year-old believes he does and quite enjoys tidying up as a result and a tidy toddler IS a result!

These shelves and big drawers are just fab - lots of storage for all the bits and pieces that toddlers accumulate and being free-standing they can be moved around easily.

I have to be very careful when I write about Thomas things that they don't get spotted by the aforementioned tidy toddler otherwise I never hear the end of it and this paticular item is just his cup of tea.

I can't find any dimensions for you but I did come across a glowing review on Amazon - here's what it said...

"This storage unit was purchased for my son's 2nd birthday. He has a Thomas themed bedroom. He loved it from the moment he saw it on the box. I loved it too beacause as someone who does NO DIY it was SO easy to put together using the clip mechanisim with no screws...the drawers are material so I know my son won't pull them out and hurt himself, the shelves are fixed really well and hold a good number of books and everything is at an accessable height for my 2year old. Im really pleased with this purchase and would reccomend it to anyone who was thinking about buying its much better than the Thomas toy storage boxes out there. Thanks!

So there you go!  Delivery is free (we always like that) and if you use this 10% discount code  - spring10 - at the checkout the published price of £39.99 reduces down to £36.

"Peep peep! What a bargain!!" said Thomas (yeah, ok I made that one up too but I bet he WOULD say it!)

Peppa Pig Dressing Table @ Argos

by Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 12 April, 2010 at 4:00 pm

This super-cute kids deal is a Princess Peppa Pig dressing table with stool is £16.99 at Argos right now, down from £29.99, saving you a rather lovely £13.00.Peppa Pig Dressing Table @ Argos

The brightly coloured dressing table will delight little Peppa fans but seems really functional too. It comes with a battery-operated hairdryer and loads of other accesories, too.

It also features a light-up mirror, and it plays fun Peppa Pig sounds as well as the unmistakable Peppa theme tune. I predict that could get seriously irritating to parents, though children are bound to adore it. It requires 5 x AA batteries which - impressively - are included so I suppose you could always, ahem, 'lose' the batteries if all the noise gets too much.

There are 9 reviews by Argos customers and they're all positive. They score the item 4.7 stars out of a possible 5 and most seem to agree that it is delightfully easy to assemble which is always a plus.

At £16.99 it seems like a good price for an item that is both fun and functional.

It's suitable for ages 3 years and over.
