Inflatable Duck Bath £10.20 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 9 August, 2011 at 11:00 am

Inflatable Duck Bath £10.20 @ AmazonI've written about this Munchkin Inflatable Duck Bath before; I thought he was a great idea then and I think he's a great idea now and Amazon are currently selling him for £10.20 instead of £13.99.

As parents one of main instincts, and desires, is to keep our children clean and bath time is generally when we seek to achieve this.

Bath times are also supposed to be happy, fun times with lots of splashing and giggles from both parents and children - when it doesn't quite work out this way it can be miserable.

I know this because as soon as my youngest hit two years old he developed a 'phobia' of bath times and the screaming was unbearable; sometimes he'd get himself so wound up that he's actually be sick in the water, if we'd even managed to get that far.

It was miserable and the closer it got to bath time, the more dread everyone would feel.  So ANYTHING that makes bath time easier, more fun and as stress-free as possible is a GREAT idea in my book.

I think this rather fun looking inflatable duck bath would have done the trick for us, it was one of the few things we didn't try.

He's got a squeaky beak that goes ‘Quack! Quack!’ when you squeeze it. He's small and contained (maybe my youngest didn’t like the huge expanse of the big bath) and has a quick release plug for letting the water out when you’re finished.

The Inflatable Duck Bath also has a textured base to prevent slipping and has a White Hot ™ Safety Disc which reveals the word “HOT” when the bath water is too hot.

Now, just in case Amazon decide to put the price up anytime soon, I can tell you that Argos are also selling this inflatable duck bath for the same price AND they are currently offering free delivery on him.

So you can choose who you get him from, or go to Argos if Amazon make him more expensive.

Marks And Spencer Homeware - Up To 50% Off

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 March, 2011 at 11:00 am

Marks And Spencer Homeware - Up To 50% OffIf you're quick you can save yourself up to 50% on selected Marks and Spencer Homeware items.

Ohhh I've spent many a happy hour mooching around the Marks and Spencer Homeware department, and a good couple of thousand of pounds at least in my time.

But I LOVE Marks and Spencer Homeware things and you really can't go wrong with it, whilst it's not the cheapest homeware on the block it's certainly some of the best quality.

So, there are lots of things in the Marks and Spencer Homeware 'Up To 50% Off' sale, I'm sure you don't r e a l l y need me to tell you what's counts at homeware...but that's what I'm paid to do so here goes.

In the Marks and Spencer Homeware bathroom department you can save up to 50%  on towels - essential ones and 100% Egyptian Cotton ones; I daren't look, I have a bit of a weakness for towels.

In the bedding department you'll find some lovely savings to be had on, yep you've guessed it, bedding *grin*

The other departments which come under the Marks and Spencer Homeware banner are 'kitchen' where you'll find all sorts of must-have kitchen accessories, then there's soft furnishings to drool over (another weakness of mine) along with luggage, home accessories, stationery and gifts and technology.

The Marks and Spencer Homeware sale is always very popular and the best bargains are snapped up fast, so don't dilly-dally if you're in the market for homeware and want to save some, not inconsiderable, pounds.

Inflatable Duck Bath £7.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 February, 2011 at 10:00 am

Inflatable Duck Bath £7.99 @ ArgosArgos are selling this Inflatable Duck Bath for £7.99 whilst Amazon are currently selling something exactly the same, under another name, for £16.49 - have a look.

A couple of years ago my youngest suddenly took a great dislike to bath times; the SCREAMING that we had to endure for quite a long time was awful.

We never got to the bottom of why he'd get so upset  - we diligently checked the water temperature every time and it was fine, we tried all sorts of mild no-tears shampoo, we went through almost every brand of hypoallergenic body wash there is, in case it was reacting with his skin. And we tried not using anything at all, nothing worked.

The only thing we didn't try was something like this inflatable duck bath.

It's fun and friendly to look at and his beak goes 'Quack! Quack!' when you squeeze it. It's small and contained (maybe my youngest didn't like the huge expanse of the big bath) and has a quick release plug for letting the water out when you're finished.

The Inflatable Duck Bath also has a textured base to prevent slipping and has a White Hot ™ Safety Disc which reveals the word "HOT" when the bath water is too hot.

You can't collect this instore - I have no idea why - so you're going to fleeced £5.95 for delivery I'm afraid.

Bath Buddy Water Level Detector £5.00 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 14 October, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Bath Buddy Water Level Detector £5.00 @ Argos

I'm trying really hard to like this screaming little man, I really am. For £5.00 from Argos, down from £9.99, I am willing to at least give this water level detector a moment's thought.

If I have to be honest, I'd realise that I had survived 30 years without this little gadget and would click on by. But, sitting here trying to think of the benefits of this water level detectors, I've come up with these:

  • As a busy mama, running a bath and then having to chase a child around the house, answer the phone, turn off the stove, it is possible that I might at some point forget that I had run the bath. The Bath Buddy alarm going off would save a lot of mopping up later.
  • It resolves the “Darling, can you come and see if this is too much or too little water for me to bath the baby in?” situation. Set it up and leave it there, so Daddy can get on on his own from time to time.
  • And then there is the environmental benefit of not running too much water and then having to empty it out again, or too much hot water and have to empty out to add cold water. It could possibly save some water, making it good for the environment and your pocket.

The Bath Buddy suctions on to the bath and is operated by three (included) batteries - probably negating the environmental effect.

Having said all that, I'm not sure it's anything other than a pass-the-parcel present, but if you disagree, you can buy or reserve it for in store pick-up, or have it delivered within two days.

Ben 10 Beach Towel £5 @ Marks and Spencer

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 October, 2010 at 11:00 am

Ben 10 Beach Towel £5 @ Marks and Spencer

Yes I know we're not going to get any more beach weather until next summer, but this Ben 10 beach towel will be a big hit with any little (or grown up) Ben 10 fan!

Do I need to tell you anything about Ben 10?

It seems I'm in such a small minority of people who really don't know much about it!

Everyone keeps telling me to hook up to the Cartoon Network and watch Ben 10: Alien Force...apparently this is different from the normal Ben 10 *shrugs shoulders*

I'm resisting; I've  managed to get along ok in life, so far, without Ben 10 in it and I reckon that will carry on if I don't become assimilated!

All I know is my youngest is a HUGE fan and, in his opinion, his life would be SO much better if he had this Ben 10 beach towel.

I can hear him now, "It's not just for the beach mum! I could use it for swimming or when I get out of the bath...or...to dry my hands!"

This, now, much coveted Ben 10 towel was £9.50 but has been reduced to £5; it measures 137cms x 70cms, is made from 100% cotton and is machine washable (are there any towels that aren't?) and can be thrown in the tumble dryer too.

Star Wars: Clone Wars: Trooper Hooded Poncho £4.99 @ Play.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 21 September, 2010 at 9:00 am

Star Wars: Clone Wars: Trooper Hooded Poncho £4.99 @ Play.com Oh for goodness SAKE! What is it with deals today?! Everything I see, my youngest would LOVE - this Star Wars: Clone Wars Trooper hooded poncho is no exception.

My youngest has swimming lessons on a Friday afternoon and he thinks it's utterly hilarious to come and give me a HUGE hug when he's soaking wet, to see how wet my t-shirt is when he lets go.

"HAHAHA, you're almost as wet as me now Mum and YOU haven't even been in the water!" ...yeah, totally hilarious.

BUT, he might think twice about doing that if he had a rather cool Star Wars Clone Wars Trooper poncho to put on, the moment he gets out of the water!

Ok, so I know I'm kidding myself and that it would be: soak mum with a big wet chlorine hug first, THEN put on super cool Star Wars Clone Wars Trooper poncho *sigh*

It measures 50cm x 115cm and would be easy peasy to just sling in the swimming bag every week.

Of course you could also use it at home after bath time, or on the beach (although not until next year now, unless you're going somewhere hot for Crimbo!)

Delivery is free and Play are giving it away for £4.99 instead of £9.99; bargain!

Bath Towel Bargains @ Duvet and Pillow Warehouse

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 August, 2010 at 11:00 am

Bath Towel Bargains @ Duvet and Pillow WarehouseOhhh I'm in SO much trouble! I adore towels. I don't need any more towels. It will take all my super powers of restraint to tell you about these towels and NOT buy any.

I love opening the airing cupboard door and seeing piles and piles of soft fluffy towels all folded neatly, and bundled together in the right colours.

There is something amazingly comforting about wrapping yourself up in a soft cotton bath towel, warmed on the radiator whilst you've been in the shower. These classic white bath towels measure 70cms x 140cms and have been reduced from  £12.32 right down to £3.50, which is an absolute bargain for a 500gsm cotton towel.

Standard delivery is £4.95 and whilst it sounds a lot, I'm assuming you're not in the market for just one towel because that would make this one of the worst deals in history; however, if you're looking to replace your towel collection, or creating a new one from scratch, then you're going to save yourself a fair few quid here as there are lots of towel bargains up for grabs.

I went to a private beauty spa which was run by a Russian lady and she had THE softest towels in the world! I asked her to tell me her secret and this is what she told me:

  • DON'T ever use fabric softener when you wash towels - it doesn't make them softer it just reduces their absorbency.
  • DON'T dry them in direct sunshine - this will make them go crispy!
  • DO tumble dry your towels on a low heat for just enough time to dry them, not enough time to cook them.

Wifi Bathroom Scales £119.99 @ Firebox.com

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 May, 2010 at 11:00 am

Wifi Bathroom Scales £119.99 @ Firebox.comIt was a close call for today's 'look what I found' random post...

...it was either these utterly bonkers bathroom scales or a toothbrush sanitiser, well I suppose I was consistent with a bathroom theme.

Right, so, basically these over-priced scales will give tell you how much you weigh, what your Body Mass Index is (which is a rubbish unit of measurement) and what your fat mass is (which scales like this can't accurately calculate anyway) but BUT that's not all my friends!

Weight for it (hur hur, I couldnt' resist!) it will then send all the data to your computer and/or your iPhone!  You can use it with iPhone apps like Runkeeper (I have that - it's an ace little app) or you can SHARE your results by email, twitter and facebook, although why on earth you'd want to it totally beyond me.

These scales are too funny - if you really want to know how much of you is fat, muscle, bone, water etc then you're going to have to go and be poked, prodded, pinched and dunked in a tank of water...wifi scales in your bathroom...?  I reckon they'll be collecting dust within a month!

Wifi Bathroom Scales £119.99 @ Firebox.comIt has a 5 star rating over at Firebox with 34 people giving it a massive thumbs up and not being one to foist my opinion on others, I figured I'd throw it out there and see what you think.

If you've podgy dad-belly syndrome or you're desperately trying to dump those post-pregnancy pounds do you think these scales would help you or just send you running to the nearest dunkin' donut to soothe the 'pain'...?  And should you decide that these scales are the best thing since sliced-wholegrain-low-glycemic-index bread and click that order button then please do let us know how you get on!

10 Piece Towel Bale £4.49 @ Halfcost

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 May, 2010 at 9:00 am

10 Piece Towel Bale £4.49 @ HalfcostYou can never have too many towels!

Looking in my airing cupboard and seeing neatly folded piles of towels is, for me, one of the simple pleasures in life.  The thing is, with toddlers and teenagers in the house these piles dwindle...FAST!

Jumping in and out of the paddling pool 100 times a day with little friends means my youngest is partially responsible for depleting household towel stocks; a teenage boy who has discovered that girls prefer males of the species who shower every day has a small towel mountain on his bedroom floor, and don't even get me started on teenage girls and bath towels!

So when deals like this come up my heart sings -  the expensive, posh towels are firmly hidden away for guests and for me and the kids can use and abuse the cheaper ones without breaking my heart.

The towels in this 10-piece bale are 100% cotton and comprises: two 110 x 60cm bath towels, two 80 x 45cm hand towels, two 45 x 30cm guest towels and four face cloths and are available in chocolate, white or chambray.

Use promotion code FF15 to drop the published price of £4.99 to £4.49 - now, standard delivery is £3.99 but if there are other things that you need which are available from Halfcost and will take your order over £50 then P&P will be free.
